I purchased the HTC Tytn II, I not received it yet , I have a Hermes and a Wizard, I have a bluetooth gps that I use in all, those phones and my laptop, I was thinking to sell my wizard with the bluetooth gps to a friend but, Can I use the Tytn II as a bluetooth device in my laptop or in my Hermes?, if not I cant sell my bluetooth gps. I use in my MicroPC Microsoft Streets and in my Hermes i-GO. Can I use i-GO with the internal gps of the kaiser? What is TouchFlo? Thank You and sorry if that questions are answered in the site, I did not found them.

If I understand you correctly
1. you want to know whether you can share the GPS receiver in the Kaiser with your laptop - Yes but you will need something like Franson GPS Gate to share the built-in GPS signal over activesync or BT.
2. Yes, iGo works fine with th internal receiver.

Do you know what is TouchFlo?
TouchFlo is the finger scrolling of menus and panning pictures and web pages. It's inlcuded in the Tilt ROM.

Hi
Does the GPS on here work with TOMTOM?
I nearly bought the Nokia N95 but was told it wont work with TOMTOM.
Bhayani
Yes, I've used TomTom with my Vario III with no problems.
thx Dan
I am running out of excuses, will have to buy the phone soon.
Just for info the N95 works ok with TOMTOM
Are you sure it works with the N95 internal GPS? Because I read a lot in the internet that N95 internal GPS does not work with TomTom.
Well, my wife wants N95 She does not like Kaiser! But I always tell her that the N95 internal GPS does not work with TomTom.
And "No" if it works with external GPS.

Hello everybody,
I have a question, maybe somebody can help me here?
I am using an Artemis and consider to buy a TYTN2. Is it worth to change? I know, this is a strange question but maybe somebody had a Artemis before and is now using a TYTN2.
I guess iGO will work on the TYTN2 as well, is somebody using this SW?
Thanx in advance,
Ralf
If you look at GPS, yes, unnlike the P3600 Trinity, you are ok with the Tytn II GPS: it has a working quick GPS program. According to GPSPassion.com, the GPS quality is significantly improved, equivalent to the SirfIII (which you have in Artemis). The unit is slightly fatter and heavier though. You also have no FM radio. I like the one-hand navigation possible through the jog wheel on the side and the ok button on the side, which opens the windows menu when pressed. The tilt is nice when you keep the unit on your office linked to the PC, because it's not lying flat on the desk, you can see on it very well. Also when you use it as an alarm clock near your bed. Last but not least: WM6 without overclocking...
funny that you visit a Kaiser/TyTN II forum and ask that question
iGO do work on the device ... it's basically the OS that you should referred to when dealing with SW
I use it without any problem ... infact, I preferred it over TomTom !!!
yes i know, sorry for that
i think i will go for the tytn2, i was just looking for opinions and for the confirmation that iGO is working without problems. i need iGO for eastern europe, tomtom is here not very strong in map availability
thanx to all
ralf
If the weight is not an issue for you
If you can survive to the lack of VGA screen for surfing...
Then go and buy one
It's all great !
Hi there,
Has anyone made a TMC device working on the Athena?
I tried some version of the GNS FM9 adpaters but nothing worked.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Have a good start into 2008.
greetz,

I agree - this would be very useful. I have iGo on my Ameo and it is brilliant (cant wait for iGo 8 or MioMap 2008 for the 3d visuals and road names) but it would be even better if I could get warned of upcoming hold ups on the major roads!

Hi,
just a question from my side:
I'm currently using igo with my Ameo and I have to wait and wait and wait and wait for the first GPS fix. It takes normaly between 5 and 15 Minutes until the first fix, even if I use the Quick-GPS Tool that comes with the Ameo. After that, everything works fine. How long does it take with your device and igo?
If I use my GNS GPS receiver (http://www.gns-gmbh.com/de/30_5843.php) I need only a few seconds until the first fix. And it supports TMC!!! I've searched a lot around to find another / cheaper solution to use TMC with the integrated GPS receiver, but I didn't find a working solution, so i decided to buy the GNS GPS receiver....
Regards
Andreas

Hi Andreas,
hmm... thank for the link. That would be really the last chance to get TMC working for the ameo.
FYI, I use Mobile Navigator 6 and it fixes the gps signal really quick. I also use the Quick GPS and when I start MN6 the GPS signal fixes within 1 minute.

Hey Andreas,
sorry to trouble you again but we are using the igo plus and the same gps as you the GNS 5843 but we can get the gps to work but not the TMC everytime we try to connect the TMC the pda just frezzes like the port has a conflict.
We have only been trying this in landscape mode can you tell me in which mode you are using the igo Portrait or Landscape.
Please can you help me in get this to work because I really like the Igo plus more the any anothe navigators.
Thanks
Gigino
Hi Gigino,
hmmmm, strange, for me it works. And yes, I'm using the landscape modus.
Sounds for me, that Igo uses the internal GPS receiver an tries to find a TMC connection on this internal GPS receiver.
Some Ideas from my side:
If you connect the GNS receiver via bluetooth, which serial port do you use? I've configured the bluetooth settings and then the COM-connections (I hope this are the right terms, I'm using a german ROM) with COM1 and secure connection. For instance Mobile Navigator 6 expects the TMC Signal only on COM1 and doesn't accept other ports.
The internal GPS Receiver is connected to Com4 on my system: GPS Settings -> Programms: Com4 and ->Hardware: None, 4800 Baud and -> Access: Automatic.
In a few words: internal GPS receiver on COM4, external GPS Receiver via bluetooth connected to COM1.
Do you have / use the test software from GNS to test, if youre GPS receiver is ok? You can download it on their page.
Last hint: Sometimes (Mobile Navigator6: every time!) you have to start the Navigator software twice to get a connection to the GNS 5843. It's a known bug for this receiver
Hope all this helps, otherwise contact me again
Regards Andreas

Hey Andreas,
thanks for your help I well try again over this weekend.
They is another problem that I have and I've tryed everything but cannot resolve it.
I use the Igo Plus in landscape mode when I'm using the map and I get a reminder or a call the screen revertes to portrait mode and after accept the call or dismissing the reminder all the buttons in the Igo software goes all funny.
Do you have the same problem or have you find a way to correct this problem.
Thanks
Gigino
Ah I have this problem if the keyboard is attached but not if it isnt. What happens is that for some wierd reason the screen gets INVERTED! If you imagine where the button should be if it were upside down you can click it! Most odd!

Hi,
I can confirm this also, the screen is inverted meens, that it looks ok, but you you have to touch it in an inverted way. I.e. the button is on the left upper corner of the screen, but you to click in the right lower area. Thats really strange. I've have the feeling, that this happens very often, if you use the Map view instead of the cockpit view.
@ gigino: I use the ameo with a brodit mount without the keyboard, so I don't have this problem.
In my last message is a little mistake, you have to switch OFF (and not ON) the automatic access in the GPS settings.

Andreas
Hi
Is there any software for the tytn2 which will allow me to use it as a bluetooth gps?
Thanks
i have installed a program named GPSgate. You can try this... but i never tested it. You can link your gps to bleutooth virtual com port and trough USB i thougt.
Good Luck
GPS2Blue, work perfect with my Kaiser and my UMPC via bluetooth
Looks like GPS2Blue will do the trick - what settings did you use on the TYTN2 ?
Thanks
I had the same question this morning Downloadd GPSGate end it worked perfect as a GPS via BlueTooth.

Ach ik Doemaarwat
No just kidding. I installed the software on my TyTN II. Then started the program and it came with a wizard. I checked Active Sync and BlueTooth. After that you have a new row at the bottom of your screen. There you can see that it is active. I turned on the BT on my device. Then browsed BT devices on my computer and there a got a SPP port and it was mapped to COM18. In my program (which we wrote ourselves at our company) I connect to COM18 and all works fine.
Yes Blue2GPS is small, simple, light and it worked with NO FUSS and no bull.
I can use the GPS on my phone to track my position using Google, Microsoft's Live search and Delorme all the while sending a GPS signal to my laptop where I can also track my position - Lots of fun!
GPS2BLUE is but simple - It works.
Beautiful. Had exactly the same question and this has flatly answered it I spent hours this morning trying to get my Tytn2 to work as a standalone GPS receiver that my old brick of a Ipaq h6340 could use for it's SatNav software.
Thank you to all
Yep, try GPSGate.....
This is going to sound silly, but is it possible to share a bluetooth GPS via Bluetooth on the Tilt?
I have an unused smartphone with Tom Tom on it which I'd like to use as a car nav so my Tilt isn't tied up doing it. But I want the Tilt having use of the GPS for TrackMe and other things.
I will not use the Tilt's GPS for many reasons, so I use a Bluetooth GPS, and share it out to multiple programs on the Tilt via GPSGate. All that works well. But it'd be nice to be able to share the bluetooth GPS with the other smartphone as well.
AFAIK the GPS won't connect to multiple devices, and I tried to set up a bluetooth output in GPSGate which didn't seem to work. I know the Tilt can connect to multiple devices on Bluetooth, but perhaps GPS data is too much to share. But figure it's worth asking.
Hi all,
I was just woundering if you could use the tytn ii as a external gps device, such as switch on the bluetooth and it shows up as a gps reciever, is this possible?
i know you can get some software for the n95, such as extgps
thanks to anyone who replys

Google search "use kaiser as external gps"

Wow that was hard
Search for GPS2Blue.
I guess searching isn't the IN thing this year.
