I am not quite sure what happened but in the process of installing/tweaking my tile somehow my 3G got disable. I have the 12 button comm manager and it has the 3G as being enable, any suggestions?

Is there a quicker way of switching between WiFi and 3G for "internet" than having to go to connections, modify networks, pull down to "Work Network" and then repeat to switch back to "3G" ?
Even better, can the Kaiser/ATT Tilt be set to automatically try WiFi first, and auto failover to 3G ?
Hmmmm, i dont think this is the answer your looking for but i just run Wifi from comm Manager before running explorer or Outlook and then it auto picks up wifi. If the wifi drops out or its not turned on then it auto runs 3G.
And then I use Comm Manager to turn off both if needed.

Doesn't this help? http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...(GPRS & EDGE) modes to optimize battery life!
hey guys, i'm using one of dutty's 6.0 roms, and when i first started using it, i opened the comm manager and turned off the 3G. once i did that the comm manager doesnt even have that 3G icon anymore. now i'm using a friends sim card to tether, and i cant seem to get 3G on. its pretty crappy tethering w/edge, so if somebody can help me i'd appreciate it, thanks

Haven't got my phone in front of me, but if you go into Start > Settings > Phone, there's an option in there for Network connection which can either be set to Auto or GSM/GPRS . This is all the 3G button in the Comm Manager does (Auto is 3G on, GSM is 3G off).
Sorry if the directions are a little vague, I'm doing this from memory and it's been a while since I had a Comm Manager without the 3G button!
Of course, if your friend's SIM or account isn't 3G-enabled, then whatever you do to your phone won't work!!
BandSwitch from http://www.commmgrpro.com/ was working perfectly until I found out it was not freeware and started nagging me with registration. It had the option of Auto/3G/2G.
Tried Duttys 10 button comm manager but it only has 3G Auto/2G only. I need something that locks on and stays on 3g for my sling player and internet sharing with laptop. Schaps 6 button comm manager has the same problem.
Plz help.
Is your signal strong enough to constantly stay at 3G? I know when I'm in a 3G area, it will sometimes drop back down to EDGE if the signal isn't strong enough like from inside of a building.
usually software with the name pro isn't going to be free
My signal constantly fades in and out of 3G. With the utility, it usually stays locked on to 3G but occasionally looses signal once every 10-15 minutes for a few seconds.
look on how to enable band tab within phone settings to switch the frequencies between edge and 3G,using the HTC Commmgr can do the same thing with the 3G switch, if you lose signal its because of your locatiom, not the ability of the commmgr getting a lock
Hey everyone. I live in a fairly rural area but work in Atlanta. Would there be any benefit to disabling HSDPA battery wise? In the office the only connection I seem to get is Edge and at home I get 3g (Ironically)
Install Schap's Communications Manager. It has a button to turn off 3G services. You can also enable the selection if you use Advanced Configurator 3.3.

Click to collapse
Schaps fails with insufficient permissions.
EDIT: Advanced config installed ok after the comm manager didnt so I am good to go, thanks.
funny, 2 responses (now three) but no answer to your question. I'm curious too. How much does 3g drain the battery more than Edge?
Ok... so it's a royal pain in my butt lol because when I have wifi turned on for pandora or something, then it turns off my HSDPA. Fine, normally. But, if someone is sending me a pic, I can't download it, then, frequently, it disappears into cyberspace. It's always weird asking them to send it again haha
So, is there a way to fix that? Or is it just.. what it is lol
Regards
Smith
Bump... N needs a fix
are you using a toggle for 3g? thats your problem
[Me] - I have wifi ON and using the POWER MENU ONLY (hold power) have data turned OFF.
when i get or send a MMS it will temporarily show 3g/h AND WORKS.
if you use many of the other toggles out there (not built in) they TOTALLY disable your 3g or change your APN settings to fake disable it. this will put you in your situation.
android thought of this and added it (working correctly too) in 2.2 to the power menu.
So if I'm using the wifi toggle, not 3g toggle as I'm running 2.2.1 not cm7, then this problem will be created??
i never said anyting about CM7....
wifi toggle in the notification bar ON
data connection in the Power Menu (hold power button) OFF / ON doesnt matter.
the phone automatically shuts off 3g when wifi is connected and will ONLY use 3g for MMS
then it works like you want and i said before.
So, I open up my notification drawer and toggle wifi. That's all I do...
Do I need to do anything with long-press power key menu?? Am I misunderstanding something??
thats all i do. and if i leave the house and dont want my widgets or email using my 3g, i disable data connection in the power menu.
turn on data to receive..
WINNING!
So strange, because when I do that, my phone doesn't turn 3g on to download mms :/ it's obnoxious lol
EPIC WINNING! xD
