help with getting 3g workin again - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

hey guys, i'm using one of dutty's 6.0 roms, and when i first started using it, i opened the comm manager and turned off the 3G. once i did that the comm manager doesnt even have that 3G icon anymore. now i'm using a friends sim card to tether, and i cant seem to get 3G on. its pretty crappy tethering w/edge, so if somebody can help me i'd appreciate it, thanks
omar

Haven't got my phone in front of me, but if you go into Start > Settings > Phone, there's an option in there for Network connection which can either be set to Auto or GSM/GPRS . This is all the 3G button in the Comm Manager does (Auto is 3G on, GSM is 3G off).
Sorry if the directions are a little vague, I'm doing this from memory and it's been a while since I had a Comm Manager without the 3G button!
Of course, if your friend's SIM or account isn't 3G-enabled, then whatever you do to your phone won't work!!

Comm Manager that has 3G toggle on/off, available?

Hey everyone, I just flashed the HTC Kaiser ROM on my Tilt and it works wonderfully, big thanks to pof and others who are making these type of things possible, donations are on the way by dinner time this evening, I give u my word!
From past experience with the TyTN, having 3G connection on at all times as opposed to just EDGE, seriously kills battery life. So I thought I could just go to the comm manager and toggle 3G off, but the option is not there. There's a Data Toggle on/off, but that seems to turn off my data connection all together. I just want the phone to use EDGE for periodically checking emails, and to use 3G when I need that type of bandwith(eg, Skype and web surfing). Is there anyway for me to have that 3G Toggle on/off switch again? It just now hit me that the ROM I was using at the time was a cooked ROM, so it might not be available until the great chefs get there properly tools.
Hmm....I was just wondering, any help on this is greatly appreciated.
DHR Bandswitch works perfekt on my Kaiser

Band page
Is there a way to get the Band Page to display on phone settings? The registry settings from the Hermes don't seen to work.

The Advanced Configuration tool allowed me to use the 3G switch instead of the PTT setting on the Comm Manager. It doesn't have any icons though. :-(

And you can get these tools in this thread:

Also if you read some of the msgs, you'll find how to use it.
I think that here is what you want.

Niiccee....that's the one. Actually, I started using the JUV comm manager that's also found on that link, thank I appreciate the help.
Or you could use start/settings/phone/band and switch "select your network type" from Auto to GSM.
This will stop 3G working until you switch back to auto!

Hi there,
I am not sure if this is due to the German MDA Vario III Rom, but indeed if you go to Communcations Manager and you can switch the Data Connection On and Off, but even better, if I go to "Settings", then "Phone Settings" I have a Tab what says "Band" and there I am able to use "Auto" (GSM/EDGE and UMTS) or GSM/Edge.
Again, this is to be found on the German MDA Vario III ROM.
Cheers
Mike

No Band page by default on the Tilt. Registry settings from Hermes (or Advanced Configuration) do not work on the Tilt.
Still hunting for how the hell you do this on the Tilt.

Why don't you just flash with the HTC Rom assuming this one has the "Band Tab"?
Mike
The 10 button with 3g in this link seems to work as well.
EDIT: You'll need the registry fix for Wifi for this to work. Details here.

Not ready to take the leap yet. Want to see how others do with it first. Also, there will be several excellent Hermes cooks flocking this way to cook for the Kaiser - some who specialize in starting with the at&t base ROMs.
Plus i would like to learn the differences in registry settings between the two.

So far I like Schen's 10 button comm manager the best.

Program nodata will provide your needs.
Search forum and you wil find it.
Grtzzz
Start|Settings|Phone|Band set network to GSM.
Start|Settings|Connections|Manage existing connections|Delete existing connection
You could also try Nadavi 's Improved Comm manager..
so u can switch between Auto modus (3G) and GSM only.
Thanks guys, managed to disable all connections. Its a bit annoying that the 3g or GPRS connections are always active, bills are becoming abit of a nightmare lol. Once again Thanks!

need help connecting unlocked Kaiser to wifi. cant get pic msgs!

im using an htc kaiser 8925 and in all honesty im pretty new to wm 6.1 and the phone in general. mine is unlocked, and i havent messed with any roms yet. oh and im using it on t-mobile too. the problem im having is i cant get it to connect to my home router, and i dont know what to do. all im trying to use is the wifi, i havent purchased the t-mobile internet package yet. i have no clue which wifi settings to change or what to change them too. i cant receive picture messages either, if someone could help me figure this stuff out as well i would greatly appreciate it.
First:
Make sure your home router is BROADCASTING the SSID. You might have turned it off for security reasons? If it is turned off, your phone can't find the wireless network.
Second:
Start the phone's COMM MANAGER and turn on wireless - it should find your home network automatically - no matter if you have encryption on there or not!
If the phone does not give you a notification message about the network it found, click in the COMM MANAGER on SETTINGS - WIRELESS and delete all listed networks in there. Afterwards turn off Wireless again, restart your phone and then turn wireless on again ... try if that helps!
ugh it was the wireless in the comm manager thanks alot
Regarding your picture msgs, T-mobile normally require you to send a picture message to enable it. After you've sent one you should be ok Just make sure you've got the T-mobile mms settings setup

All In One Mobile Messenger Questions!

Hey just wondering if someone can lead me to the right direction. I have the AT&T Tilt and im looking for a good messenger that will only work during WiFi. I have tried slick, fring, and mundu but all start using the 3g att network if im out of wifi range...or if my phone goes on standby and i turn it on the 3g network starts up cause the messenger program is on and searching for something. Is there any mobile messenger out there that just uses wifi...so if it goes on standby or if i go out of wifi area it doesnt start using the 3g network but just signs out until i get to a wifi hotspot?
Please hope someone can let me know and help me!!!
Thanks!
Try using a program called NoData to turn off your connection unless you turn it on.
TW,
Just thought i'd attach as it's such a small app
thanks
thanks guys...i just got the program.
now my question is when i opened it up it showed 2 connections.
Does anyone know which one i need to turn off.
the 2 connections are:
AT&T ISP GPRS and
MEdia Net
so which of the two need to be turned off? or do both need to be turned off?
Thanks again

[Q] How to force HTC pure using only 3G

Hello,
I have a HTC Pure from AT&T with stock ROM. It runs WM6.5 Professional. CE OS 5.2.21849. build 21849.5.0.63
I'm using it with a provider whose frequencies are such that the phone can only connect to 3G, at least I never see it connect to anything else. That's ok, but when there is no 3G network available or weak the phone tries to connect to the normal network (it shows a small G at the top of the screen, I don't know if this would be from another provider?) which it cannot connect to. So sometimes it takes forever to redetect the long reestablished 3G network.
Is there a way to force the phone to only try to connect to 3G? A registry hack maybe? I read in another post something about a "band" tab under "system", "phone". I can't find this tab.
Most often I'm able to immediately establish a 3G connection by turning the phone OFF and ON via the connection manager.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

use BandSwitch apps, so you can easily control the network connection
The link you posted doesn't work anymore. At least not for me.
But I found the software somewhere else. Seems to work. I'll check if it remains on the 3G network.
Thanks a lot.
