I want to hook up my Mogul 6800 to my car stereo auxiliary jack and play music from the pda to the car radio. Has anyone run across such a plug/cable setup?
I purchased this cable
I picked up this cable from either Seidio or wmexperts.com. I can't remember. I got it both with and without a microphone.
http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=776
I just got one from Javoedge. I will see if I can find the link and post it here.

Here's a nice one from a super reliable seller, me, look at my ratings it's 1000 ratings all 100% positive! I'm using 2 of these and it works beautifully.

The "super reliable seller" is named nv_gear. Any relation? Or is that kinda like "Jones" 'round some parts?
call me crazy but why are you all wanting to buy adapters when the mogul comes with them in the box? when i got mine it came with the splitter for the computer and charger, and a splitter for the charger and headphone jack
The headphone jack included from HTC is a 2.5mm jack, 3.5mm is the standard "1/8th inch" stereo jack.
Mine did not come with a 2.5 or any adapter for that matter. Seems Alltel did not see a need for them so they were not included. Does the 2.5 adapter that you had included allow you to hook up a standard cell phone headset, or is it some special connector meant for a stereo headphone?
Mia
it lets you hook up a standard 2.5mm cell headset, i dont know if the jack is stereo or not but a 3.5mm plug wouldnt fit anyway
You can buy a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter from Radio Shack.
And Another!
I've purchased 3 of these over the years. Worked with my MDA, Hermes, and now Mogul. http://cgi.ebay.com/3-5mm-Stereo-Au...ryZ15040QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem $13.50 with shipping.
I just a 2.5-3.5 adapter off the deals extreme website for 1.40. This includes shipping. They are slow because it gets shipped out of Hong Kong, but I have ordered a lot of stuff from them and have good luck with it. Chad
but what about stereo?
I have been searching, but can't seem to resolve the question if the 2.5mm "out" from the HTC is in mono or not.
I am trying to use a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter(stereo) to listen to music in stereo but i have to pull the adapter out of the socket a little in order to get stereo....
Where is the problem coming from? the phone or the htc supplied 2.5mm jack/"out" (since the adapter is a stereo adapter)
thanks all!

This is a Crutchfield product, but I got mine on Amazon.com. Best cable for my car so far!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000J4GCV8
I just got this and it works great. The mini-usb part fits snuggly into the xv6800, unlike the splitter that came with the phone.
http://products.smartphoneexperts.com/content/accessories/73-75--2373.htm
The stereo/mono/having-to-pull-out-a-bit issue has to do not with 2.5mm-3.5mm conversion. It most likely has to do with 3-ring vs 2-ring.
Here's two sites that enlightened me on the ring issue. I wish I had known this before buying useless 2.5mm-3.5mm audio adapter from RadioShack.
1. http://dwsimms.blogspot.com/
2. http://qbranchblog.blogspot.com/2008/02/make-your-own-usb-to-25mm-adapter.html
So, the splitter that comes with xv6800 is a 2.5mm 3-ring system. When connecting to an audio device that doesn't have a mic, you need to go from 2.5mm-3ring to 3.5mm-2ring. I got a cheap adapter like this on ebay for $5 or $9, I can't remember.
great info you all...thanks so much

Already did this search
Here's a bunch i found and bookmarked when i was doing the same search about a month ago:
http://www.semsons.com/2miusband3st.html
only $5, both charge and headphone
http://www.buygpsnow.com/2-in-1-Ste...-TyTN-(miniUSB-and-35mm-audio-port)__901.aspx
same price, different config. compatible with Mogul?
http://www.eforcity.com/stereo-head...3300ad01.html?efprcshzldtf080219=CHTC3300AD01
$2 for just headphones
http://www.pdaextreme.com/1182.html
$17 for a TRIPLE adapter
http://www.shopaws.com/store/usb-adapter-4816.html
$8 each for triple adapter if you want to buy 3 or more or get some friends together
http://store.xda-developers.com/xproduct.php?xProd=1859&xSec=10
$10, very small, slick, but i think it might point the "wrong" direction (see below)
http://4ustuff.com/product.php?form=PDA AND SMARTPHONE ACCESSORIES&mode=8&lag=&name=ADAPTER
lots of different adapters from a China, HK wholesaler.
just be careful if you get an audio only one that you plan to use with your OEM charging adapter (the one that is a plastic charge/EMUSB adapter) since if the audio adapter goes 90 degrees off to the right (if it were on your phone) then it will hit into your charging jack on that OEM adapter. you just need to look closely at the pics before buying.
i think i'm going to get a few of the ones from Semson's since they look like they will fit while my unit is in it's faceplate case and obviate the need for the OEM adapter (and it's cheap!).
I bought them SEMSONS one a week ago, it didn't work at all. I tried it on a friends xv6800, worked flawlessly. I have since reflashed the phone, tried it again, works like a charm. It must have been something wrong with my phone. I purchased two more from them today.
I also got the semson's ones and they work great. They fit flush right up against the bottom of my mogul, so in my opinion, supports the connector well and does not create a stress riser on the connector like most of these things do. Also, it looks like it was custom-made to fit with my two-piece clear faceplate on. Absolutely flust and nothing gets in the way of anything.

Does anyone know of a good car charger? I'm considering the proclip charging stand but $70 is steep. The charger I got for my RAZR from just wireless works because it's USB but it plain sucks. It stops charging periodically and I have to disconnect and reconnect it. It also charges very slowly.
The OEM ones they sell at the at&t Corporate owned stores work good. They cost $30 unless you have a company discount on your account.

After my active car holder from brodit was broken (fired up, ruined my tytn and unusable) I decided to do a cheap solution. I bought a HAMA car charger for the MDA music II, cut of the powerplug and solded it onto my broken brodit holder. It works again now, without blowing up my tytn.
So the HAMA charger is perfectly suited, and i paid only 8 euro's for it!
(why didnt i exchanged my brodit? because i live in norway now and i didnt want to wait another 2 months for a new brodit so decided just to weld another powerplug on the broken brodit)

Hi,
I have the GPSforless was cheep and it works like a charm...
cheers
Tilt depot is based in Florida and sells several different chargers. I bought an HTC OEM charger from them for around $25 delivered.
www.tiltdepot.com
Back in November, I bought an "OEM Tilt Car Charger" on eBay for about $12 delivered.
The item that came was indeed in AT&T packaging, but the molded lettering on the unit said "Wireless Solutions model #474987."
So, convinced that I got screwed by an unscrupulous seller who stuffed an aftermarket charger in AT&T packaging, I went to my local AT&T corporate store to look at their chargers.
Guess what? They sell the "Wireless Solutions model #474987" in AT&T packaging. For $25, plus tax.
I've got a Brodit passive holder & proclip mount with a usb cable into a USB adapter in the cigarette lighter socket.
Simple & works a treat, as I can also use it to charge a bluetooth headset, camera etc. etc.
I have this, and have found it really good:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=300189722865&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=020
Ony negative about it is that the cable from cigarette lighter socket to windscreen is too short for some cars...
I got an iPod car charger. Don't remember who makes it but it is just a 12v to USB adaptor. You plug the iPod cable into the USB. Works with the Tilt USB cable too.
cheap
Bought mine here in the Netherlands for 4,95 euro
its a usb cigaret lighter charger 1100 mah
when tytn is in holder and standby it charges with aprox. 800 mah
Store called kruidvat
I use a car charger from Boxwave and it works very well; even when using GPS, it does charge the unit. As opposed to an old Motorola Razr car charger I was using that couldn't even maintain a positive charge when using GPS.
Also, Boxwave sells a nice, inexpensive mini-USB adaptor that allows you to use any headphones with a 3.5 mm jack. I am also happy with their extended battery (2700mAh); I just wish I could find a case that would fit it.
I use an iGo. Between my wife, kids, and myself we have 3 different charger ports. I like the fact that the unit has changeable tips. It also charges well, and is attractive.
$9.99 AT&T OEM Charger & $15.99 expandable GPS/PDA/Phone craddle (can be hard mounted, velcroed, or use cup holders & turned from landscape to portrait & will accomodate the unit with open KB) from best buy. I also have their tablet pc mount & a split USB charge to sync cable so I can provide my laptop with GPS & a data connection anywhere. Total setup less than 60.00
I picked up a Kensington USB car charger at Circuit City for $9.99 a couple weeks ago. It's a charger only so you'll need a usb cable also - I had no shortage of those. Nice and small with a blue status light and 1000ma output, so it charges pretty fast. At that price, I bought a spare.
OEM Wall Charger
Does anyone know a reliable source for OEM HTC Kaiser Wall Chargers? Ones that are ACTUALLY HTC chargers with the proprietary shape noted below?
I'm looking for the USB that has this shape.
____
|___/
NOT this shape:
____
\___/ with both sides having an angle.
I can find PLENTY of so-called OEM chargers, but none of them really seem to differentiate between the two shapes above. I simply cannot get the Kaiser to charge anymore using standard miniUSB, so I want to make sure I am ordering the proprietary shape.
So many of the threads here even refer to them interchangeably, and I really want to avoid standard miniUSB chargers. HTC does not seem to have them on their website. Bastards. Heh.
Thanks!!
Here's mine:

Erm obviously not, since all HTC original chargers use the standard shape with "both sides having an angle" as you show it...
The top plug is only used on the headphones, there are no chargers that use it.
Does anyone know of a car charger that fits in perfectly in the cig lighter in the car. All Incar chargers I have ever bought never fit in perfectly and with the slightest amount of touch lose power until I push it in again.
I want a nice snug fit just the the cig lighter has with its own lighter thing. I absiolutely hate the give/movement these incar chargers have.
Any ideas?

No other car charger fits my cigarette lighter slot as well. I think this is quite tight but can still pop out. My high tech solution is to stick a bit of card in there with the cahrger. It works perfectly and doesn't need to be wedged in very far to create a rock solid connection.

The leo ´s plastic parts are covered by some kinda smooth coating. I wonder if it takes damage if you use car holders (especially the brodit one - I think I might buy this one). What do you guys say? Has anyone experiences with this?

I bought this one at walmart on our way out of town one day to run my HD2 and my daughters iPhone 3G...My HD2 always overheats when I use it (the LED flashes orange and green after about 15-20 minutes) Even if I dont have anything else plugged into it.
Mine may be an isolated issue (though I dont see how)...but I dont know if I would recommend this...as overheating the battery often cannot be good in the long run.

Does this sit flush on the top of the lighter jack?...that would be the perfect solution so I could unplug the cable but leave the adapter in and still be able to close the ashtray (change drawer) lid.
...Have you had any power or overheating issues?...(see my post above)
It looks like the price in your link has gone up to 12.99...but a quick google search gave me a price of 5.99+free shipping
Its seems the charging standards for USB car chargers have not been ratified so there are two different types out there....
So when you buy a car charger, its a little bit of a gamble to weather it will work or not...
This one does work
Ebay item : 130398121842
(its not me selling them)
I'm hear from some source that pins 2 & 3 need to be shorted, also hearing then need a 200ohm resistor between them. If anyone can clear up the confusion, that would be a massive help.
Apart from that, lovin my Streak...
The MotorMonkey doesn't work, although that's not a surprise as it only allows a current draw of 0.7A. The htc branded in-car adapter works fine though...

Desperately need a car charger. Anyone found anything that works ?
Thanks.
Sorry,

Well, in addition to the motormonkey, the Belkin universal usb car charger doesn't work, neither do any sold at Maplin. As a last resort I bought a slimline Power invertor for £15 . . . which promptly fell apart the 1st time I unplugged my charge. This is pretty ridiculous, Dell will not sell the charger unit without the mount. Has anybody found a working car charging option that doesn't cost £50?!
Had my streak for about 3 weeks now and had not tried it in the car but after reading this post i thought i would go and try the car adaptor i had purchased for the TP2 that i had
and viola it worked no problem charged it very fast i have put the link at the end i purchased it from ebay
HERE
Hi,
Just in case it helps anyone, take your existing 12V USB adapter apart if it's not working with the streak and solder pins 2 and 3 together (the middle two, preferably at the PCB end if it has one). Works
I have gone from non-working to working in about 5 mins flat!! I should point out mine is a 1A charger. Think it needs to be with the Streak?
HTH....
PS what an AWESOME device. Just awaiting 2.2 now (hopefully)

Hi
To anybody having issues with a USB Car Charger, I have managed to solder the 2nd and 3rd Pins in a charger purchased from Ebay, and it works perfectly.
The Item number for the charger from Ebay is # 220605256968
I have taken pictures of a small piece of wire that I used to solder the two points together, incase anybody is wondering how it can be done.
The link for the pics is as follows:

Hope this helps!

Tis true you can get any plug and just solder middle pins together, I tried about ten of em none worked, blob of solder job done..
I just opened up my USB console I installed on my Harley and soldered pins 2&3 together and now it charges

I already have a bunch of AC powered USB ports and car USB adapters... A bit of surgery there and I'll be set.
Just did it on a Scosche plug. It has two adapters. I dropped a bit of solder on the circuit board for the middle pins on one plug. That plug now works and the second doesn't.
the solder thing is interesting, ill give it a shot.
i went into the AT&T store for a USB charger, turned out their AT&T branded iPhone charger + USB port won't charge it even though an employee suggested it.
Please Be Careful with this trick.
The Streak WILL draw 1000mA when you solder those 2 pins together.
If the charger is not rated for that, something bad will happen.
I did this as a test to a cheap 12v USB adapter (Off-brand Sony PSP accessories Kit), and the chip in it became very hot within a few seconds. It was charging the Streak, but it would not last long at the temp it was at.
I un-soldered the pins since I would rather have a low-current charger than a burned out charger. The charger was only rated at 500mA.
The Dell House charger is rated at 1000mA, so I would assume that if a charger was rated at 1000mA or greater, and you trust that rating, it is OK to do this.
There is a reason why they did what they did.
Good point, but it should be noted that a decent charger will have a fuse in it.
It isn't the issue having a fuse... many of these "cheap" chargers only support 500mA. If you were to draw too much current, you would likely blow the regulator chip/circuit... Make it have a nice meltdown
That being the case, there are ways to MAKE your own 12v USB chargers that would supply 1A, for not too much money... $4.00 in 2 chips from radio shack and about $10-$15 in other assorted parts. It would never be too pretty, but it would be a custom project that many people enjoy doing. (the original hackers used wire, tape and soldering irons)
I like my Streak to much to fry it. I purchased a cyberpower charger and it works perfectly...
For the record, bought one of these Griffin iTrip Auto Universal Plus FM Transmitter, thought it'd be nice to get the FM transmitter and charger in one. Unfortunately, the charger port DOES NOT work with the streak. Pretty upsetting.
h t t p ://cgi.ebay.com/Griffin-iTrip-Auto-Universal-Plus-FM-Transmitter-iPod-/370320858927?pt=Other_MP3_Player_Accessories
Also, iphone wall chargers will also not charge the streak. That's also upsetting since my last phone was an iphone.
it has 4 pins at the battery contact, I would like to know which pins are postive(+) and negative(-) on the battery contact?
can you help me to do a test on the battery??
thank you vvvvvery much~~~~
Asking the same question in three different threads on the same forum is annoying.
I ended up buying a mains invertor for £15 from Maplin
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
At first I would like to apologize if this topic already is somewhere there. I didn't know how to call thouse pins so I didn't know what to serach for.
When I look at the back side of Leo I can see three unused pins. I remember HTC Himalaya, where thouse pins were for extension pack with VGA OUT, CF slot and next battery.
Review of the cover
Does anyone know what are thouse pins for? CF slot is death but VGA OUT is usefull. Older QC generation was able to VGA OUT so why Snapdragon wouldn't?

So one has to remove the battery cover in order to put the HD2 in the car holder?
Sorry, but this I do not believe it, I have never seen such car holders that demanded removing crucial/standard parts in order for the device to be able to function.... (Apart from a small rubber (dust)cover....)
Please document your findings with a link.
Personally I believe this is more for service/mantenance/diagnosing a broken device by tech support.

believe it, bub. As retarded as it is, HTC has made it that way with the HD2. The car holder will activate the Navpanel (via the 3 pins in the back) while charging the phone at the same time.

So in order to use the car adapter one should everytime remove the battery cover?
That's really retarded : where to leave it while driving? in your pocket is not to comfortable
They should mention that in the specs before one pays around $90 for that piece of cr*p

CAR HOLDER. Not car adapter. HTC made a car holder for the HD2. It has a suction cup stuck to the front windshield. The car holder is there to activate the Navpanel for using GPS program.

The car holder was to ship with a new battery cover which connected to those pins.
Search google for "Official HD2 car holder" then you can see pictures of it, it was actually
a very nice design, not retarded in any way.
Replacement back cover is not so bad
But I still don't know WHY buy expensive original holder with this "speciality" when I can buy 3 dollar holder on eBay with normal attachment...
These pins were for the original HTC car holder which never came to market. Therefore it was necessary to replace the rear cover permanently and stick with it at the car holder.
The now available HTC car holder is using a hughe plastic thing and the HD2 gets connected via Mini USB.
Neverteless, it would be very interest how these pins are usable for personal mods and so on. does anyone knows which functions they provide or how they can be used?
sorry to dig up a massively old subject, but I figured I would jump on the end of this instead of a whole new thread, now that this thread established what the subject matter is.
I want to put an induction coil in my phone (using a plastic back-plate obviously) and I'm wondering if I could feed power into these pins, obviously they were meant for charging so they should accept charge from other things, does anyone know the polarity of the metal tabs so I don't fry my hd2 with trial and error?
davidcampbell, did you try it? Cause i wanna use that two pins for charging and don`t know polarity too...
Seems like i have an answer. We need a block with 3 pins behind a battery cover, where left is minus and right is plus.

Is this confirmed? Have you tried connecting power to the leads? Ive been contemplating turning the phone into a din-mounted stereo when I switch carriers and would like something better than microusb for power.
When powering these leads, can you remove the battery and still run the device? Unlike the microusb...
I,m also intrested in connecting cheap china wireles charging coil to those pins. Also I found out that they are used by Powermat Wireles Charging System for HTC HD2. Here you can see a picture showing this plug. So it seems that pin 1 and 3 is used for charging. But not shure about polarity.

With battery door removed & looking into the back with the 3 pins in the bottom left the left most pin is +5v & right most pin is ground ...
I beg your pardon!
Prompt. There were official comments of the existence of this car holder (uses charge pins) from the HTC company?
Sorry for my language (google translate).
A couple of Desk Docks popping up around the web recently, anyone got one and can give a brief review?
Cheaper one £9

Extended one (with additional Battery slot) £15
They don't look bad but best to get one that has the micro-usb AND a headphone plug - that way you can attach it to your Hi-Fi, pc etc to pump the sound from!
If not then these ones from Brando look nice:
$18 + $3 P&P
$17 + $3 P&P (various colours available!)
I have always found Brando excellent and have used him for years now - I have just got the reflection free screen protector for my HD7 and it makes it easier to see outside and much smoother to the touch!
yeah good point, i don't think i've spotted one with a headphone socket yet... I wonder if we'll see docking stations with built in speakers anytime soon....
Fingers crossed - always annoys me the iPoo gets docks galore but HTC phones don't even though they have great audio capabilities!
I've bought this one: http://kidigi.com/product_lv2.php?pid=1230
It has well working line-out and it can charge a second battery. It looks and feels great.
BUT my PC does not recognize my HD7 in the cradle. It can be charged via USB but not synced

That looks very nice!
The description says it charges and syncs. Did you contact the company for a replacement or fix? Maybe you got a bad unit

I had a Kidigi cradle for my touch pro - you have to have the MINI-usb power adapter plugged in AND the MICRO-usb supplied with your phone plugged in to the PC for it to sync.... that way it charges and syncs at same time.

Thanks for the hint. I tried that, but it doesn't work either. Syncing via WLAN works fine.
I wrote to the support of the shop where I bought it, but I haven't got any reply so far.

I just bought one of these.
I had the equivalent for my HD2, and it's really excellent. It's got everything I need - spare battery charging bay, power connector, USB to PC connector, audio connector - the full set. A good price too.

Buyed THIS ONE yesterday.
When it will arrive I'll post my opinions and, hope, some photos.
Bye, Marco.
Wow some of those are quite nice looking.

These both look good.
I was looking at one just the other day. Still not sure which to go with.
Yeah I really like the look of that charger, does someone have a trusted site for the States? I wanna buy one, but I just don't know about some of these sites.
And the sites that do look decent, are always in the UK! What gives?!
Can someone hit me back with a link for State side website that you've personally bought from before, and that the company does exist somewhere.
Thanks yall!
Do any of these docks/cradles work with a case on?
I have the PixelSkin case for my HD7. Will my phone with the case on fit in any of these docks/cradles?
Good Day,
I presently own both the hd2 and hd7, and am not able to dock either phone while in their cases...Due to the chargers fitting so well as to promote
stability while charging. (Of course it may depend on which cradle you own/purchase.) I have 2 different style cradles, and both give the same results.
I hope this helps.
Good Day,
I have purchased 2 different style cradles...1 from mygadgetgarage (hd2/hd7) (ebay) and the other from talkietech (hd2) (also ebay). Both sites treated me excellent. Fast shipping/Great prices.
i just bought a slip in real leather case by HTC. Good thing is you can just pull up your phone without using fingers to squeeze through the side when you need to pull out the phone.
