Contacts on ATT Tilt - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Just a stupid Newb question. Not that it matters, but i'm just curious.
Where are the contacts saved on the tilt? is it like a csv file or what?
What if i just wanted to save just the file for the contacts externally without ActiveSync, is that possible?

I think they are saved as a database file that cannot be copied over or copied from.

Thanks for your reply

Your contacts are actually saved in the pim.vol file in the root of your device. Save that and you'll save your contacts.

All you need is to set your outlook client on pc to "Deliver new email to the following location:". and point it to your pst file on pc.
After sincro you will find all your email on your pda.
Ofcourse take care about free space on you card.....

email still goes to phone memory..help

Hello,
I would my email goes to my storage card. After setting the registry with the new key (Property and attachments folder) my email still goes to the \windows\messaing folder.
In practice, I have deleted all files under \windows\messaging, \storage card\mapi and \storage card\inbox.mstxxxx folder. Then I have sent myself a new email on my private address and after sincronizing my tytn with exchange server via activesync i have a new email in outlook application and a new file under \windows\messaging folder. If I delete this file I lose the content of the new email just received.
no files under the \storage card\MAPI or \inbox.mst folders.
how can I fix it?
I have a lot of email to download by sincronizing my tytn with pc in my office.
thanks to everibody

I thought the email goes to main memory and attachments can go to the storage card. I wasn't aware that the messages themselves could be stored on SD.

thanks for the reply but I have just solved this problem without any changes in registry.
SkTools does it!!!!! You need to use the "Move data" function to solve definitively this annoyng problem.
this app delete the folder \windows\messaging and create a new one into \storage card\ where you will find every email and attachments.
GREAT!!! now I have 15Mb of more free memory on the phone.

Using cab files

I will admit first thing off the bat that I am a COMPLETE noob to this ROM stuff. With that being said, here is my question.
I am currently using HyperDragon IV IOLITE CE OS and am trying to install cab files to fix the FN keys being mixed up on the keyboard, ActiveSync, MMS messaging, and a couple other items.
My problem - how do you install cab files?? I don't have a SD card yet (its in the mail).
Help, PLEASE!
lol. either sync and send it over and then run it or email it to yourself.
Google is GOD!
Basically, you get it onto your phone either by activesync or in activesync on the PC you choose explore and go to a folder you want to darg and drop it into.
Once on your phone use your phone's file explorer and click the cab file.
It should start to install itself.
Oh yeah, you can email it to yourself and open the email on your phone to save the attachment.

Question about DB

So do I have any way to view/extract a SQL DB from the phone? I can view the DB using a SQL editor/viewer on the phone for Workout Assist but the Export Data function isn't working from the app. The file that it creates isn't a known file type. If I could get the raw data, I could import it into SQL and write the query myself to pull the data I need but I can't figure out how to get the darn data off the phone.
Thanks
Like copying to the sdcard or what exactly?

How can I backup the DB and extract the file?
They are stored in /data/data/_package_name_/.
I still don't know what you mean, you said you can read the DB, which implies you know the location of the file.

Yes... But how can I GET the DB files to import into SQL? If I try and attach it to an e-mail from Root Explorer, it looks like it attaches, but nothing is sent?
Just copy it to /sdcard/...
adb
lots of other options.
That is the same question I asked you and you just said you needed the db file.

Ok... Sorry if I confused you. I got the file to my PC but it isn't readable by anything... Any ideas?
You can download sqlite3 for your pc and open the database with that.

Yep - thats what I did.... Had to export everything though to Access and query that way since SQLite doesn't export query results.
Thx

the db IS a file. Simply backup by copyin gthe .db file, and when you need to restore it, push it back.

HTC One Backup file on Dropbox

Is there anyway to possible open this backup file with a program. I no longer have an htc phone, but I would like to retrieve some old contacts and sms messages. When I open the folder, the files have no association, it just says file. They are are also oddly names like "1a0c21af-b4f3-4927-bae2-e05fadbd901b". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

This is really complicated if you dont have access to a HTC device anymore. But there is a way if you are able to do that or you know someone who can... http://blog.interrupt3h.com/?p=328 What is written on this page is for restoring mp3 files out of the HTC backup, but it should work for every file. Just read it
