I currently use web n walk for about 7 per month for unlimited browsing. I am also using my kaiser with my laptop to browse the web - will this be included in the web n walk package? If not is there another package i can take out to support this?
Think you officially need WnW plus to be able to do this - another £5\month on top of what you already pay.
Ups the included 'unlimited' data allowance to 3GB too.
is there anyway for tmobile to tell if your using laptop via the kaiser or will it just be down to data goes over a certain allowance when they start to charge you?

Can anyone tell me what are the quality differences of using the t-zones wap connection and using the total internet plan for 29.99? does the t-zones wap connection use edge or just gprs? i feel that my bill is just too high and i want to bring it down by taking off that lame 29.99 plan.
Instead of paying $29.99 for web access, you can get most of the functionality by paying $5 with the correct setting.
Read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=57897
The difference between t-mobile web and total internet:
T-Mobile Web basically will provide you access to the wap sites, but with the correct proxy setting, you also can get out to the internet, but with T-Mobile Web, you do not have direct access to the internet, you are connected through the proxy server. Thus, you only have several ports opened for you: HTTP, WAP, POP3, and few more ports.
The total internet plan will give you direct access to the internet, you have all ports opened for you. Thus you can run anything you want, and no ports are blocked.
Either plan can be used from the PPC, or from the laptop, as long as the laptop is set up correctly. Your laptop can be connected to your PPC either with direct USB connection, infrared, or Bluetooth.
So basic internet access like websites can work thru tmobile web, even downloading from websites? tmobile web also can reach edge speeds also? thanks for the above reply, i think i might cancel that dumb 29.99 plan.
hello!
i found this reg key for windows (PC), which enables (or something like that) internet connection via Active Sync.
Try it, i hope it will help you, if you can not use internet via AS!
see at attachments.
Merry Christmas!

tilt 8925 as modem
i just got the tilt yesterday 12/24/2007 it is replacing the bb/curve 8310! so the rep told me that i could discontinue my att/air-card and that i could tether the tilt as the modem! the calling plan $59 and then $79 for the completely unlimited text/and modem usage! "worked great till about 4am" now the tilt is froze up on the widows mobile screen! yes i did the bat/pull-hard reset! then contacted tech/support! they said to take it back tomorrow 12/26 and exchange it! my question is if i pay for unlimited text and the $49 internet,,, why are they charging me an additional $30 to tether? and also is this a common issue with the tilt?

Because you get unlimited internet on your phone. You can use the limited browser, etc of the phone. Your obviously not going to take much bandwidth up using a small little phone.
You tether that to your PC, your internet usage goes up. Although you pay for UNLIMITED TRANSFER, they know you won't use /THAT/ much transfer on a tiny phone. You actually plan to take advantage of UNLIMITED by tethering, they wanna get even more money.
You can tether without AT&T's permission. Simply go into the WINDOWS folder and find the file called "Internet Sharing", create a shortcut by long tapping it, and copy the file to somewhere easily accessible. Double click this program, click USB then connect the USB to your PC. Now a new network interface should appear in network connections on your computer. You can use internet via ATT without additional charges.
However, if you use more than an unpublished amount of bandwidth, you'll end up getting a $4,500 bill in the mail one day. They'll start charging you per kilobyte. Their only argument will be "you cant use that much bandwidth on the phone, so you must be tethering"
Yeah, you pay for UNLIMITED INTERNET, but according to them it is LIMITED to your device. Nice, huh? Oh well, thats big megacorp for you.

So yes, you pay extra for UNLIMITED internet... but it is LIMITED to your device. Cool deal, huh?
Hey guys i was going to ask this question over on AT&T's website but i figured ya'll would be more knowledgable and i'd get a better answer here
There are two data services available from AT&T that im considering
I have the Tilt right now i was wondering which would better suit my needs/wallet at the current time
MEdia Max unlimited = has both unlimited data and text messages $35
PDA data unlimited = has unlimited data (3G?) $30
i use txt msging so id addon the $4.99 for 200 txts package too
I live in an area not covered by 3G......
what is the difference in the data from both plans....i'm sure they will both work but would i be better off going with the PDA plan because the data is larger/faster/etc.
or would the MEdia net unlimited data be sufficient, for the Tilt....?
i don't use the internet much, and i think i would be better off with more text messages...but if the MEdia net is not a good data plan then..i don't know.....
My biggest question is will my internet explorer and opera still work with MEdia net, will i still get pictures and a little bit of graphics or will web pages just come up as links with nothing else....
I'm not so worried about the speed unless its unbearable....
I just don't see the advantage of having the PDA connect plan if the Unlimited Data is the same.....
oh btw i ask because i have a non PDA phone currently on my plan, so i can get the MEdia net unless i tell them i have the Tilt then i have to get the PDA plan.....
Prior to 3G I used a Palm OS on ATT and used the media plan just fine. Was a little slower than 3G, but was able to connect through the program PDAnet to our firepass and access our applications no issue on the road through my laptop.
With the Tilt, there is a thread here where there is a program called internet share that you need to just copy a shortcut to and through USB connect laptop right to internet, this is called tethering. It's just like being home on my cable modem. ATT does not support this unless you used their plan, but I have never had any issues with amount of data I have used. Good luck with your decision.
thanks for the quick reply....
my main question is will i get the same internet, with both plans
i figure at&t is just trying to stick PDA users with a more expensive plan because they can
will i still be able to see the mobile google site, and other sites the same with MEdia net as i can with the PDA connect plan
are the data streams that each plan (allows/uses) the same?
Yeah, you are exactly right. The customer service rep signed me up for the Media Max 200 (even though that's not allowed with this phone) and it works fantastic! (Get HSDPA speeds, no issues)
Only costs $19.95 and u get 200 texts and unlimited data.
I keep logging into ATT's website to manually change my phone to my previous phone, but we'll see when I get my first bill if it works
I was told that just the other day when I started my AT&T account that the media max bundle is for regular phones and it also has a limit on the data. Where the PDA is actually unlimited.
IDK if they were just feeding me some crap, or what...
On my original ATT/ Cingular Treos 600/650 I got away with media net because the phone I previously had before them used medianet, and I had not purchased from them either of the Treos. Basically all I did was switch in my SIM card to those phones and never changed from the media net. If you can get away with it, JUST DO IT!
If they have a limit its a soft limit as online it tells me "USING XXX MB OF UNLIMITED"
So the worst they can do is cancel your plan... (I think!)
Just a heads up for all you guys on O2 with the unlimited (yeah, right) web bolt on.
Was browsing thru my online bill today and i've racked up charges for data usage. It's not too expensive (average GBP7 per 100mb) but it's still a charge nonetheless for a service that should be covered by the damn bolt-on.
The strange thing is, the charges only seem to happen when i'm using the internet sharing app on my hima (and have it connected to my laptop via USB). However, when i'm browsing thru PIE on the XDA, there are no charges at all.
I'm wondering...if the internet sharing app essentially just provides a gateway between the phone and my laptop, how does O2 know to charge me for just PC browsing but not phone browsing?
Anyone have any ideas?
internet sharing
glad I saw your post, what software n settings are you using? I need to get laptop xda sharing working, im with orange £1 for the day unlimited but can't get the sharing workin
I'm using the standard internet sharing application (found in the start menu>programs section) that came with my ROM.
To get GPRS/3G settings, go to start menu>settings>connections and run the Network Wizard application. It'll ask you whether you want to autoconfigure for orange. Select yes and let it do it's thing.
Once you've done that, fire up the internet sharing application.
PC Connection: select USB
Network Connection: select the GPRS connection
Then connect your XDA to your computer (i use the docking cradle) and voila.
I'm also on Windows Vista Ultimate. Basically it was a case of doing the above and nothing else. Vista automatically realised what my phone was trying to do and gave me internet access straightaway. I'm not sure if XP'll do the same.
Good luck
internet sharing
yep all working now and only a quid day and no extras charges on orange
Can your At&t Tilt access the At&t isp connection without the thethering plan?
Hi all,
I had a pda plan and I was using my Tilt with the media net connection for a couple of weeks. I am not sure if the at&t isp connection work from the get go.
Anyway, I dropped the pda plan now because it's pricey and I know I can still use media net (wap.cingular) pay per use if needed. Now the question is with no data plan can you connect to at&t isp connection (isp.cingular) and pay per use as well? I thought you cannot but somehow I am able to. I thought the isp.cingular is if you have a thethering $60 plan.
Thanks...

Holy crap another redundant post, this topic had been discussed time and time again, search the wiki, hell use google. In addition click the link that tells you about video drivers in my sig.
P.S. You can access whatever you want, its your bill not mine, pay per use, i hope you make alot of money, especially if you use isp on pay per use.
