is there anyway of unlocking the kaiser when the keyboard is slid open. Why would you slide the keyboard open unless you were going use so it seems silly to keep it locked. Anyone got a fix
Slide to unlock!
There are some applications that do this. Don't know if there is any for the Kaiser.

Just Like the Slide phones.
The phone is locked i slide open the keyboard and it unlocks automatically rather than clicking unlock on screen. The reason i want to do this is i find it difficult to find the unlock key on screen as the screen is so dull until unlocked. So i want to slide it open slightly to unlock the phone and then slide it back and the phone is unlocked and goes back to portrait mode.
Even more preferable would be say to slide the phone half open and it would unlock the phone and the display mode would stay portaitb i.e. the display would only change to portrait when keyboard is fully out. I guess that would be much harder.
I too was thinking that this would be pretty cool. The phone already wakes up on slide, so it if unlocked itself too that would be superb.
using a registry program and goto
hklm/hardware/devicemap/keybd and create a new dword SlideWakeUp
0 = wakeup
1 = stay lock
update: wrong info, this is only for wakeup, it will not unlock.
kms
I agree this would be a cool app to have. Hopefully someone can integrate it with one of those locking apps out there, i.e. S2U etc...
Did anyone work this out ?
just put it to sleep without locking it then when it wakes up it wont be locked. its not what you want but it works the phone is still unlocked when it wakes
when i purchased my handset, sim free, from htc this feature came as default but i found it a nuisance. say you have your phone in your pocket, you place your hand in there and nudge the handset, it opens ever so slightly and it is unlocked. you then, unwittingly, call people in your contacts list and end up having changed the clock! slide 2 unlock is a fantastically versatile piece of software and keeps this from happening. plus you can operate the software slider even if you have fingers like hotdogs!

I know this thread is a bit old at this point but just in case anyone else stumbles up on this as i did I thought I would correct this post.
KMS had this backwards:
0 = stay lock
1 = wakup
Also when creating the dword select decimal. Not usre if that makes a difference or not but that's what I did and it worked for me. In my case I was actually looking to turn this off since my phone case has a magnet that would make the phone think the keyboard was opened as I put the phone away.

Ok this may be a dumb question but I have been searching for the answer and can not find it any where. I want to unlock and have the screen come on( comeout of standby) by sliding the keyboard out.
Like when you flip out the screen on the side kick.
I have the 2.17 custom rom by xelencin if that helps.
Thanks
I really want that feature too!
To add a same thing to your question, can i unlock the machine with one hand?
I have smartkey installed but everytime i try to unlock the screen, it said I have to press Unlock, and there is no way to press it with a softbutton, i have to either do it with a stylus or the keyboard....

and leave fingerprint smurk on the screen you mean?
The only problem I could see with sliding to turn on / unlock etc is that the magnetic catch on the standard case would then activate the switch on etc... I'm sure it would be possible to intercept this trigger in some way even when the OS is in standby but I can see issues with the device turning on when used with the standard case...
The screen doesn't rotate when you open the keyboard until aftr the device is turned on, which suggests to me that the position of he keyboard isn't monitored by the device when it's switched off. If this is the case ten it would be impossiblt to have the keyboard switch turn the device on.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Yep, pretty sure sliding the keyboard out does not create a wakeup event. It is possible that something like MortSaver could be used to mimic this function - that's a program that turns off the screen and locks the buttons when you press a hotkey - i.e. it doesn't put the device into standby, it just kinda puts it into low power mode. I'm pretty sure that could be rewritten to turn the screen back on when the keyboard slides out. Perhaps if you plead with the author...
I've been testing several solutions for locking the diamond but I'm not fully satisfied with any of them and I was curious how do you guys do it.
I tried the standard windows lock, that works fine but it is a pain to unlock the phone with those little buttons
I also tried S2U2 and it is by far the more elegant solution but there's a bug with diamond devices that will bypass the lock by pressing the home key twice. This could happen while walking or running. Also it unlocks the phone in case of events like new text message.
I also used throttlelock but frankly when in a rush the pattern often does not work and I ended up uninstalling it.
All I want to avoid is to place unwanted calls while the phone is in my pants. I wish there was a hardware unlock button
Locking solution
Have a look here. Works well for me.
- Turn the device and it locks the Diamond, turn again and it unlocks the Diamond. (It gives one vibrate feedback when locked, two when unlocked, very easy).
Alterative method:
- Take out the sylus and it unlocks the Diamond, put back in the stylus and it relocks the Diamond.

Thanks will try this method.
How likely is it that with all this turning the phone will slip out of the hands and fall on the floor?

Lol, no its for real. Im using version 1.4 right now. I preffered it over the 'rotating the phone' method. Its called stylus lock.
You can try this tool - Answerkeys Disabler
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425650
It works OK for me!
Tried all of them.. nice, but but not quite.. one slipping out of my hand, other one u have to use both hands.. So I ended up edititing the left or right softkey in tf3d and set it to lock the phone.. still not as nice as iphone's slide and android's pattern.. Still waiting for (un)locking with the wheel..
I just turn off the display with the Power button. Just as good as locking the phone IMO.
How come I sometimes see buttons, and sometimes has to use slider to answer? This is bugging me of totally.
I've had this problem from the start with stock rom to cooked rom!
No one has this problem too? I prefer the slider, and would want that to Always display. Cause when the phone is in my pocket it tends to answer or decline calls
I have the same thing. I believe it's because when your phone is locked, it's the slider. When it's not locked, there's the buttons
There must be a solution to this; I hope. I want to use sliders only, since the phone answers itself when in pocket and the buttons are on display.
Well its the way it is because when it's in your pocket, it should be locked, therefore activating the slider feature... I'm sure there is a way to always use the slider...

The problem for me is that it's answering while I take it up, so I rarely have a moment to see if it's slider or buttons. But when it's on the table it's mostly slider. Hate the buttons. But with an app I use (full screen caller id) I get to slide, but the problem is while answering I have to slide through the app and then either slide again or push the button. Which is killing me... have written to the app developer about this a week ago, with no answer or update. So how do I change so I always use default answering mode as slider??
Over the last few months I've lost some weight (so most of my shorts and pants are a little big now) and being the type of guy to put his phone in his pocket, I've been getting quite a few accidental calls.
Yes I am locking it 99% of the time. What happens is that I'm using a non-pattern unlock and while its moving around in my pocket my phone ends up opening the keyboard. What does this do? It wakes the screen. A little more tumbling around in my pocket = unlocked! and so on .
Is there a way to disable this? I can't seem to find one. I checked out an app called Confirm Call or something like that and it's just a button to confirm. Since it's just a button and not a pattern it'll just get tapped anyway in my pocket.
I'm trying to avoid using pattern lock as pattern lock make it tough to answer/check the phone at a traffic light or similar situations :-/
I think I've trawled the internet enough to know there doesn't seem to be a real way of doing this as far as disabling slider wake-up, and no dialers seem to use anything other than a Call Confirm button which would just be the same thing all over again, with one extra tap :-/.
There is one but doesn't seem to be able to disable slider wake up in 2.2/2.3 (or just 2.3)
What type of app do you want?
Elaborate what you need so people may help you.
You can try using slider only. Try if you can keep only one letter password and also disable press ok button after entering password.
Sent from my Milestone using XDA App
What I think would essentially work is an app or way by script that;
Disables slider-open screen wake.
I've searched about this and there doesn't seem to be a way that works on GB, only for eclair and maybe froyo.
In the mean time I've just realised that I could just put the dialer on a different bottom shortcut row . At least it makes it really difficult to make accidental calls but doesn't solve the whole unlocking-in-pocket problem I have and judging by the posts about it, quite a few others too.
I often find that my phone is unlocked or pocket dialed in my pocket, occasionally feeling a little vibration when I guess it is trying to unlock.
I unlock with fingerprint usually. My trouser pockets clearly don't have my fingerprints pressing against the sensor.
I've turned on the "pocket mode" option in advanced settings but it still does it.
Is there any way I can fix this? I am not rooted and have locked bootloader.
Thanks

At least they are consistent
I'm using Pocket Lock from Play Store, I set it to lock my phone when it's upside down and the screen is getting turned on.
It's not perfect, but solves the above problem which annoyed me as well as you.
Edit: I've turned off the phone's own pocket mode, Pocket Lock alone is sufficient enough.

Big problem also for me, I've made like a thousand call or multiple WhatsApp forward...
I solved turning off face unlock. Just using the fingerprint or sequence
The most confusing thing here is how on earth does the phone accept the unlock while in pocket? When using my finger it rejects it often enough.. in my pocket my thigh has a higher success rate? I doubt it randomly would draw the right pattern so often.
So all a thief would have to do is put the phone in their pocket and it unlocks eventually!
Use a case/care when placing in pocket and place the back the phone against your skin, not the display.
What's really disturbing is when you find it has opened setup pages you don't even recognize
Has anybody tried Pocket Lock? ASUS' built-in pocket mode is very buggy, it would be more than enough to check the gyroscope if the phone is in mostly vertical position (upside down or vice versa), and when the proximity sensor shows almost 0 distance to something, the screen should stay off and the phone locked. That's what Pocket Lock provides a working solution for - I'm not the developer, so I'm not advertising it, but as somebody who had the same problem as you have in this subtopic, I bought the pro version and the "ghost unlocking" is now gone.

Thanks. And also to the previous poster about this app.
Once installed do you lose access to fingerprint unlock etc?

There's an alternative locking method to keep fingerprint unlocking, but seemingly it doesn't work under A12 - still, you can keep using the fingerprint reader until Pocket Lock has locked your device, which is better than call anybody from your pocket.
BTW, your pocket won't unlock your phone as stated in one of the previous posts, but an incoming call will turn your screen on, and if you're unlucky, on the virtual dial pad your pocket will enter numbers.
