I Think My Wizard is BRICKED - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

I was flashing my phone, and I fell asleep. When I woke up my screen was blank and it appeared as if my phone were off. I connected it to the power adapter and still no light no boot no nothing. I removed the battery and removed SD and SIM card, still nothing. I tried hard reset, stylus in the hole. Nothing. Can someone confirm that I am not the proud owner of a BRICK? Is there anything I can try beside throw it against the wall?

It sounds to me that your battery just died while you were sleeping. You probably just received an error message and while connected to bootloader, it will not charge the device. If the phone is left in bootloader, it will eventually die.
Try using another battery or buying an external charger like a cradle with a dual battery slot and get it charged, put it in bootloader, flash it back to an official rom and then do some reading before trying again.

I hope you did not have a G4 device and flashed a Rom with IPL/SPL included in it.which Rom was it,that you were flashing ?

If yes...find a way to charge your battery, re-connect it, then re-flash. I learned that even the really badly damaged wizards can usually be saved form the brickyard!

Yes If
it you do get a charge on your battery or have a new battery just flash another rom on it..its easy just follow the instructions from this furomhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337907
it will show you how to get it into bootloader mode.....
I'm still a New to this but it might help you !!!!!

Ok,if it's a G3 device, then there's nothing to worry,it sometimes happen due to a bad flash,or as you said cud be due to battery discharge during flashing or losing usb connectivity.Fully charge you battery by some means and check the USB connectivity.
Perform the procedure as posted my me in this thread,I hope it'll recover back to it's default status,

This may due to 2 reasons:
1.Your battery was die,try to charge it or change another one.
2.The chip which includs IPL is die,you may replace another chip or throw you phone out.

No Battery, stuck at tri-color screen

I was flashing my phone repeatedly last night. I've read the forums and have done about 4 successful flashes already. The problem is, I've found a WM6 rom for the Wizard that I wanted better than the ROM already inside my phone, and I proceeded to flash it. But I left the computer and phone by itself so that I could rest a bit (I've spent hours in front of the computer flashing my phone), and fell asleep. When I woke up, I noticed that the flashing failed, and it was at the tri-color screen. Then, it died on me. No battery, obviously, being stuck at the tri-color screen the whole night. Now, it doesn't charge or turn on. I know I just need a battery to run the phone. But where I'm from, batteries for the Cingular 8125 are rare, and I'm one of the few that has an 8125.
I don't know anyone who has a battery for the 8125, and there's nowhere to buy from here. Any recommendations?
First of all be sure that you haven't flashed a G4 ROM in a G3 device (or vice-versa) which would have made it a brick.
In case you haven't screwed up the bootloaders then look for the battery jump start thread that teaches how to revive a dead battery
good luck

First os all your Wizard is not a brick. To revive your battery try using a wall charger to charge you battery, or you can leave it attahed to a wall charger for some time and it should start charging after 10-15 mins (becoz one i got a dead battery and did the same) Once the battery is revived then flash it to a Official ROM, afterwards any custom ROMs or what so ever. I hope i helped. TC
i've the same problem!!! i leave the phone attached the whole night to the charger...but it was in bootmode, so it doesn't charge!!! it hasn't the power to flash my phone...when it arrives to the 85% (when the phone write into the flash memory) it reboots.....what must i do? i tried to jump start...with a 12v adapter...but nothing....
It won't charge in Bootloaders,as it doesn't provide any charging circuit .The phone must have and boot up to a working OS (Windows) to start charging, only then it has a charging circuit.
Try to get a fully charged batter ,may be borrow it from a friend or try to charge your battery with friends phone, flash a rom and only it'll start to charge.
i know....but...i have not a friend with a ppc like mine!!!! and even if i'll buy a new battery....how can i charge it????? a friend of mine has a qtek 9000....but the battery is different from mine.......

@ianestradalives's as zabardast_1's has said, your phone WILL NOT CHARGE unless windows Boots. Either buy a new battery or find someone with the same phone or an Orbit(as they use the same battery) also if you buy a new battery it generally arrives with enough charge to use for flashing(It did for me anyway). The only other way to do it would be to buy a dock with a second battery charging slot. Using the wall charger wont do anything except stop it from restarting ,while its plugged in.
@XDA2_haseeb why point people who have the same problem to this thread, if the answer you have given is incorrect?

Dude, sorry to disappoint you, but his advice was correct. My phone is now up and running, and it has NBD 9.2. The advice he has given is correct. It works.
Ok,was your phone in Bootloaders (muliticolor screen) or with a working OS installed on it when you charged with a wall charger ?
That's exactly what was i was about to ask Zabardast_1
As there is no way he could charge his phone while it is in bootloader mode. He either had battery power already in it and messed up the flash or you have just been lucky when you took the battery out of the unit and reinserted it and there was enough power left to flash

In bootloader screen. If you were flashing a rom and it failed, you usually end up in the tri-color (aka "Bootloader") screen. Do what haseeb said (like I did) and plug your wizard to a wall charger and wait for a few minutes. When I plugged mine, it immediately lit up. Good hunting!

Nope. I'm sure the battery was drained. The other night, my phone was in the bootloader screen THE WHOLE NIGHT. And yesterday, I tried reflashing, but it won't start anymore because of - obviously - no battery power.
IF you don't believe me, fail a flash and drain the battery. Then plug it into the wall. It really works.
scousemartin
YUP! thats very true.
The question here is 'How did he charge in Bootloaders with a wall charger',it has to have a working OS on it to start the charging circuit, which isn't present while in Bootloaders.
Flashing is a separate issue.
it will light up as it has power but it WONT CHARGE IT. You were LUCKY that's all and you had power in your battery. You just never realised it. If you want to prove us wrong let the battery go low and then try your revival attempt again. I guarantee you will be buying another battery or charging it somewhere else
also i have been through this personally with my xda mini-s and the only remedy was to buy another battery (or recharge it). You could leave your phone connected to the wall charger for a week and it wont make a blind bit of difference to the battery level. I know because i tried.
Anyway glad you got it sorted ,but the solution to your problem was not charging the phone. Thats all i have to say on this matter now

There is detailed info on how to fix this. FYI--it is always very helpful if you post the information you see on that screen, which is the boot loader screen. Is the device hard spl? What does the screen say?
sorry about that. the phone is completely dead now. My phone was never flashed, so it is running the default software.
Did you try charging your phone with the WALL CHARGER rather than USB TO PC ???
Was it a PRE-OWNED DEVCIE or BOUGHT UNLOCKED ON EBAY?
Try to get your battery charged first, troubleshooting does not make sense otherwise!
It is brand new, got it after my other tilt fell out of my window (don't ask). Is there anyway to charge the battery without the phone?
before the phone got stuck on the bootloader screen, it wouldn't charge the battery, eventhough when i went into the power settings it clearly said that the phone was charging
Did you get it from AT&T? If it is brand new, get a warranty exchange. It should work right out of the box.
I didn't just get the phone. I've had it for easily 4months now. Anyway to charge the battery without the phone?>

The obvious answer is that it is a defective battery, you need to try the phone with a new battery first.
Any re-flashing of roms to get out of bootloader must be done on a full charge.
I have never come across a stand alone battery charger.
Some cradles come with battery bays

There are cradles out there for the TyTN II which have a bay for charging the spare battery and they come with a power adapter - I know because I have one and it works well. Just google for TyTN II cradle. Mine was very cheap here in the UK and came with a spare battery as well (always usefull for a TyTN II owner).
Rather than jumping into automatic reflashing mode, once you've got a fully charged battery in it, try a hard reset using the stylus and buttons (as per the wiki here) first and let us know how you get on with that.
ok, i got my friends battery. tried hard reset, still getting the tri colored screen. screen has ruunbh in top right corner.
under that to the left is:
kais1*0
spl-3.02.0000
cpld-8
_ it also changes from serial to usb at the bottom as i plug and unplug the usb cable
Phone is working. just need a batter 50% full and reflashed it. thanks for the help guys.

Just but a cradle with a bay to charge a spare battery. Also, if you are charging via a wall charger, try using a USB to PC connection and see if its charging that way. It could just be a bad power supply. Try your friends charger. Im sure he will let ya borrow it for an hour or so.
Also, check to make sure you didnt somehow goof up the pins on your USB port on the phone. Many people here have made the mistake of putting the stylus in the wrong hole in the dark....maybe its possible you did the same ? If so it could be as simple as taking a safety pin or something and putting the pin back where it belongs.
Goodluck!
Ok!!!! Phone is back to the tri-colored screen and now my computer won't recognized the phone. But as i enter and remove the usb cable, it still switches from serial to usb.

Generally that means that you should be able to download a rom/radio combo and run the KaiserRUU. Go to HTC's website and download a new OS load for the tilt. Should fix ya up
how would this work if the computer doesn't recognize my phone?
Base drivers should be installed already on your computer ( activesync) . The RUU knows which com port to install through once USB is showing on the tilt...........
RUU = rom, right?
i keep getting connection error

Is it bricked

I searched and searched. I was reflashing my AT&T tilt on a tmobile net, using the memory card method. I am not exactly sure what i did wrong. I flashed it once tonight and didnt like it even though it worked fine. I flashed it again and when I did the soft reset I think i took the memory card out to soon. Now the phone will not turn on at all. I love this phone, someone please help a brother out
Hard SPL
If I recall correctly, unless you were flashing the SPL, you just need to re-attempt the flash by engaging Hard SPL again.
It's been forever... but I seem to recall that with Hard SPL, you can always recover, unless you are in the middle of re-writing / overwriting SPL.
Erbid
(Tell us you do have Hard SPL installed.)
I cant get the thing to turn on at all I think I have tried every thing. I have flashed twice before without problem. But it just wont turn on now. I guess what im trying to say is I believe hard spl is on it. I ran boot loader from the phone using camera and soft reset. I accomplished the task once already and loaded the newest hyperdragon and didnt like it so about 10 minuts later i did the same thing and tried to install an old dutty one and the phone will not turn on. I loaded every thing and then reset. I think i may have pulled the memory card to early because i dont remember the phone saying it was clearing storage or coming back on. Sorry if this seems longwinded.
Sorry if this is a stupid question but is the battery fully charged? Try charging for a few hours - check that the charge light is on etc. Normally with a bad flash, even if the phone is completely bricked, you will see something try to light up or go brighter on the screen - unless the battery is dead or the screen ribbon disconnected.
It worries me a bit that you 'think' you have hardspl. Either you do or you don't. The process is simple enough to do but has enough steps that you'd definately remember doing it.
Ok, so I think you are sorta right. I put a fully charged bat into the phone but still nothing coming on. Turns out the old battery was dead though. Strange considering it was being charged all day while in the car. phone still wont turn on. anyone know if there is someone who fixes these?

okay the phone isn't turning on but are there any led's lit up? (red, green, orange??) because that indicates there is still life in the phone and recovery is possible. This can be when you turn it on or on charge etc.
Very unlikely you bricked it. More likely a problem with the battery or charger not charging the battery.
When you plug the charger into the phone does a yellow light appear at the top to indicate the unit is charging? If not you have a faulty charger.
Can you get into the BootLoader screen? Try the following:
> Take you battery, sim card (re-lock the cover after taking it out) and storage card out
> make sure all contacts on the battery are clean and replace it
> Hold the camera button in fully and then press the power button for a few seconds (the Bootloader screen should appear)
If the Bootloader screen comes up then read the 2nd line down which starts SPL and report back with the version.
If no Bootloader screen appears then take the Battery out and plug the charging cable into the phone. Then with the battery still taken out, try to get back into the Bootloader screen by holding the camera button in while pressing the power button.
If that gets you into the Bootloader then then problem is with your battery.
If the phone still does not go into the Bootloader screen the problem is most likely with your charger.
thanx, i have since bought another tilt. I put the old battery in the new tilt and it was dead. I put the fresh battery in the old tilt and nothing yet. I didn't try the bootloader yet. I did try charging the phone on the old battery though and no lights what so ever. even with new battery on charger. I will get back to you on the bootloader trick

Have you tried the charger from your new tilt in the phone that doesnt work? If you connect the charger then the charging light should come on at the top. If thats not happening but it works on your new tilt then the problem lies in the phone. You can try checking contacts and connections but if you have no life after swapping bits over from your new tilt to the old one then ur pretty much buggered. Can you not send it back as faulty or is it out of warranty?
No warranty. I bought it used. Im on Tmobile. Thank you for everything though. I did try the new charger and got nothing.

HELP My phone doesnt work-Battery dried out during ROM installation

During installation of ROM update, my phone stopped and it doesn't start.
I think it is because of battery.
There wasnt enough battery and i think it dried out.
Now I know that it had to have at least 50% of charge but it is too late for that. (i had stg like 40% of charge)
Is there any way to charge it and install new ROM?
I tried to charge it during the night and nothing happened.
also I removed the battery during one day and I tried charge it again and it didnt work either.
please help.

From what I remember was that if you're lesser than 50% of battery it won't let you continue the flashing. So I'm quite positive that it is not battery issue.
I tried once flashing at 48% and it says my battery is less than 50%.
find a friend who has a fully charged blackstone battery, borrow this, and try do a hard reset.

If you don't have a friend with a Blackstone then head for a Phone shop (that sell them) and ask if you can just use the battery from their DEMO model for a few minutes. Pop it in and try a hard reset. At least you will n=know if you have a dead battery or not.

You don't need to borrow someone elses battery. Take out battery and connect device to charger without battery. Phone should still turn on, enter bootloader, hard reset etc. If you cannot do any of this then its not a battery issue

If you are unable to do anything with device, try taking battery out and leaving device overnight, then re-insert it before trying to turn it on again.

i think i needto find out how to install bios to my phone.
i dont know if there is a bios for phones.
is it possible to install stg / bios when we cannot get into bootloader or do a hard reset ?
There's no BIOS on the phone per say, there's a comparable portion of firmware, but normally it can't be upgraded/replaced if the phone is not booting.
Your best bet is to send it to repairs, make up a reason why it failed (e.g. stopped working unexpectedly, never turned on after removing the battery) and hope they will fix/replace it under warranty terms.
If you are into having some intimate relationship with your phone, look around for Blackstone JTAG.

I think I killed it...

My Tilt was low on battery so I went to plug it into my computer. Turns out my brother took my USB cable, so I went to my room and found a USB power plug for an old iHome.(Only after plugging it in did I realize it wasn't standard USB voltage, it was 9v) Well I plugged it in, and my phone immediately turned off, and now it constantly reboots to the Smart Mobility boot screen, vibrates, and restarts again. I left it with the battery/microSD card/ SIM card out for 24 hours, but still nothing. I've tried Hard Resetting, and re-flashing through the microSD card, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Have try another battery?, probably your battery was the one that really got smashed with those 9v.
I don't think its the battery, because it still holds a charge, and can boot into the boot loader and hard reset screen fine. Is it possible that the battery just can't provide enough power for the full OS? Is there anyway to boot off of USB alone? I don't have another battery (currently) so I can't really test that.

Try to reflash, since you can get in bootloader and see if that solves the problem.

Same thing happened to me, it had enough power to get and remain in bootloader but not enough to boot OS. Put in a new battery and has run perfect ever since. 3 mon.

Agree with mate
Sorry for reviving my own post, but i finally got a replacement battery and it still just vibrates, smart mobility screen, then repeats. I just tried flashing it with the stock att rom and the only difference is att screen instead of smart mobility. Any other suggestions?
EDIT: Also tried flashing android but does the same thing, vibrates, flashes boot screen, repeats
