Has anyone both installed the patch that modifies the daylight savings time setting on their device AND verified that appointment during affected times (this week) have been corrected?
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/daylightsaving/default.mspx
I do sync with Outlook and have tried the PC centric Outlook method as well as the PPC centric method. Both have failed. The software installs on the PC side but never gets to the point of identifying calendar items that need updated. On the PPC it installs fine but appointments are still 1 hour off this week.
Getting really frustrated with this.
What do you mean "appointments are still 1 hour off this week?"
The DST update shouldn't make any changes to appointment times, just adjust when the DST change takes place so that it "hits" on the right day. An appointment that shows up at 8:00AM every tuesday should show that time both before and after applying the update.
Here goes the CAB

i thought WM6 already fixed the DST issue...i haven't had to change anything...my time is still correct...we'll see what happens this coming weekend...
I read on Microsoft's site that WM6 had updated this, but this past weekend my clock went back an hour. I had to manually move it up an hour. This weekend I guess I'll have to move it back.
Or move to Hawaii or Arizona where we don't have to deal with such tomfoolery.

Thanks for the patch, I have been bothering by this time issue for the past two days.

@PerfAlbion: Any change to the time zone which is effectively what the DST change does will affect appointment times. See milesahead's post as well.
So those of you who installed the patch. What was the exact effect on the clock time and appoinment times. Heck maybe it is working correctly for me and I just have to manually modify times. As I understand all of the MS documentation if you take the PC/Outlook centric approach Outlook will walk you through some dialogs that identify each affected appointment and ask you what to do with it. No mention of such a wizard type corrrection using the cab file and the PPC centric correction approach. Thanks!

hey, i have the same problem... but my wm6 is actually from ROM cooked in this forum....
anyway, i have installed the patch... didnt work for me... whenever i connects my ppc to pc... activesync change my ppc clock back one hour... i am in PST timezone... anyone has solution??
I don't know why it's only hit me today, but it really screwed my entire day up with such a mixed up schedule. I'm showing up were I'm not supposed to be an hour early and missing where I'm supposed to be at then. My time is also off (faster) by an hour, which messed things up even more.
I've applied the patch from MS, but it does not do anything. It doesn't change my calendar back, nor does it change my time back an hour. I force update the time and it's correct, but after a reset, the time goes back to an hour faster. is there no solution to this simple problem??
I did not install this patch. I hoped WM6 would have actually fixed this problem...however it's Sunday morning and my phone did not fall back an hour. My computer (and my old PPC 6700 with the patch) both say 10:25am but my Tilt says 11:25am.
Should I adjust the time manually or install the patch earlier in this thread? Thanks.
My Tilt with ATT Stock ROM changed the time back one hour without the need for the patch. Does the HTC ROM has the same fix?

You still need to run the patch to fix appointment (well, if you have any).

I didn't .. My time automatically adjusted back an hour today and all my appointments are still at their correct time.
I have a Tilt with the stock Rom as well and my phone worked as it should. Went back an hour and kept all appointments and tasks at the correct times.

The Shipping HTC ROM on my TyTn II works as expected. The time rolled back and kept appointments.
my stock rom at&t tilt rolled back with no issues. Man, we were just talking about daylight savings programming issues at my local php meetup, I feel bad for y'all experiencing problems.

Have tons of appointments and they are all correct too (just checked)..
I have a Kaiser with "auto time set" disabled due to the bug that has activesync launching all the time. Mine did not roll back the clock this morning. I reset the time manually, appointments still look OK. I just applied the patch and maybe I'll set the clock/date back and test it when I get a chance.

Hi,
Recently I have contacted i-mate, (it took me countless days just to explain simple thing about DST 2007). Finally they got back to me with cab files for the DST change on KJAM.
For more info on DST Change 2007 please see this:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/dst_overview
For info on WM:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923953
Enclosed is the CAB file, just copy into your device and execute from there.
Please note that it is recommended that your administrator also make changes on the Exchange server end before you implement this in your device.
Regards,
Does this require a change to a different time zone and then back? I saw a similar CAB file from another site that would work if you changed time zones after installing. However, without changing the time zone it didn't read the new settings properly and wouldn't change come the new DST dates.

Good point. I would suggest to make time zone change, reset the device and change back the time zone and reset again. To confirm if it is working, schedule meeting during that DST period.
DST = "Daylight Saving Time"?
Yes. Daylight Saving Time. It will affect customers worldwide who schedule meetings with anyone living in North America.
Not only that, the server systems on the back end supporting business, applications also need to be address. So the impact is quite huge.
Imagine supposedly a financial report as of 12 AM but it reported 1 hour less of trading amount because of the time shift. You could lose $$$... a lot

If you have appointments already scheduled for the last 3 weeks of March you will need to go back in and make sure that the they have the proper time listed. The programs don't know to change the time of appointments that are already scheduled. A real pain in the ass for my sales division.

Wouldn't the time for the appointments still be the same? Notifications are only dependent on the system clock...
Anyways, back to my original problem... I have the DST cab installed yet I still had to manually change the time. I'm sure I waited several minutes before softresetting and I also tried softresetting on sunday to trigger the time change but it didn't. I have verified that the binary values match the new corrected values. Is there a setting that I need to check in order for the phone to do it automatically or is there just something wrong? See sig for phone settings.

Yeah, this was a real PIA! Servers and workstations required the OS update, Exchange 2003 required another update, and then the workstation's Outlook required the TZMove for Outlook http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931667, which worked on 98% of my clients...
M$ did supply a TZMove for Exchange which, for some reason, wouldn't work for my SBS clients....
I didn't have an issue myself on my PDA Sunday... due directly to me flashing my device 3 times testing a new ROM... But I had to have my clients manually change their time on their devices as it didn't change. Probably due to me not using Network Time (changes us from Eastern to Indiana...)
Thank God it's done....................

Are you using ActiveSync or Mobile Device Centre? If you have mobile Device Centre, ensure you are using the latest version (6.1). As, believe it or not, this isn't automatically updated.
Cheers
Scott
im using microsoft active sync 4.5.0
It's a setting that it copies the time from the server. (the pc what is connected)
Daylight Savings Update
I'm guessing that your phone hasnt had the Daylight Savings patch installed to reflect the recent changes for Daylight Savings in WA & other countries. I actually found the patch by accident when I browsed to the Windows Mobile website on my TyTN II although havent installed it as I am not affected by the changes here in Sydney.
I have attached the WM6 patch for PPC touchscreen devices to this post however if you need the WM5 or WM2003 patch for other PPC's or Smartphones you will need to browse to ttp://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/mobile/default.aspx on either your PC or device and follow the steps to download the patch. Note that the page is designed for browsing from the device so it will display in a narrow band at the left of the page if viewed from a PC.
Cheers,
Chris
downloaded and installed, hopefully it'll solve all hiccups
many many many thanks for your help and efforts
Can someone please help!!!
Since we started summer time here in Oz my diamond is showing the correct summer time but now all of my appointments are 1 hour earlier as if on old time.
The PC I sync with is showing correct time for PC and Outlook but the Diamond Calendar remains 1 hour earlier for everything.
Whats happened? and whats the best way to fix please.
My diamond is my lifeblood so any help would be much appreciated.
Please....anyone
I have a similar problem in Oz, but my diamond is now one hour off the correct time whenever I sync it with the PC.
Google "windows mobile daylight saving time" brings you to some microsoft fixes which may sort things out. I haven't tried it yet. Keep us posted with any solution!
Mine is the same.....as soon as I connect it via activesync my phone changes back an hour.
Once I unplug it...it goes back to the correct time.

You may need to update your Outlook version as well.

Change Time Zone
If you change your time zone to Magadan (GST +11) your calendar entries will be OK.
Thanks for your assistance Nighthawk but I have already tried both of those.
I have addressed the issue with HTC Support and their phones are running hot over this.
It is a Windows Mobile issue and not a HTC one so it needs to be addressed my Microstuffit....However HTC are working with them to get the problem fixed A.S.A.P....they are well and truly aware by the sheer volume of calls they are getting..even after the supposed "patches" to fix it.
The problem has been created by daylight saving commencing 3 weeks earlier than normal.
Expect a post in the HTC members club site soon re the fix for it.
Cheers

I figured out this workaround.. but the word workaround doesn't go down very well. It's a premium phone with premium price.. HTC and MS need to get their act together

I installed this .cab and changed back the timezone to GMT+ 10 sydney.. and it's correctly calculating the time. Sync with outlook is also working fine.
just updated 2 x Diamond's with this cab and it worked! For some reason, the cab i downloaded yesterday didn't fix the outlook issue. this one did.
didn't have an issue with my Kaiser though.. weird.
Many Thanks.
Installed that *.cab file.
Outlook calendar shows correctly
Diamond is an hour earlier on all appointments.
Have reset...still the same.

thanks, this seems to have worked for me too.
Its fixed...thanks.
I had to install the cab file while connected to the PC.
Its all good now.
Thanks for the input everyone.
It was working fine for 24 hours.....connected it to the PC to resync today and back an hour all my apopointments went...and the clock.
Fixed the clock by reinstalling the cab file...but the appointments remain 1 hour behind.
I cant wait for the 26th October.
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!
Since DST has started in Australia my O2 xda IIi runs 1 hour behind my PC. Every time I sync, the time changes. I've turned off the time sync in Activesync but now my appointments are out by 1 hour between my PC and xda. This happened earlier this year (end of DST) but it was only for 1 week so I put up with it.
Now the changes are 3 weeks at start of DST and 2 weeks at end of DST. These are also permenant, so each year I'll have this problem.
Does anyone know how to change the DST start and end dates in Windows Mobile 2003. Microsoft have updates for Mobile 5 & 6, but not 2003.
Microsoft support had me download TZEdit, which can change timezone settings but only on the PC and not on my xda.
If I can't get an update or editor, I'm willing to do a registry hack. I have a registry editor for 2003 but don't know what to change.
I would appreciate any help, thanks.
Having same problem here. Time keeps stuffing up and my alarm doesn't ring in the morning!

XDA Daylight Savings Workaround
I have the same problem with my XDA Mini and what I did to fix it was turn off the auto-sync time option in ActiveSync and then on my handheld I changed my timezone to one hour ahead - GMT+11 (Magadan). Once this was done I reset my time to the correct time.
The time was correct and all my appointments in my handheld jumped back to the correct times. I tested appointment setup both ways and they sync'd OK.
Hope this helps. Cheers.
I Have an Unlocked HTC Touch Cruise (polaris).
I am in Argentina and the same thing with the DST happend here. The problem for me is not the Time Zone, the problem is that the GPS uses the time to function properly, so first it delays about 30 - 40 minutes to find out the "correct" time from the satellites, and after that, it automatically adjust my time, so i have it wrong again....
Is there any way to change the registry to tell the system that i am in Daylight Saving Time?
Thank you all...
Hey all, I realize this is my 1st post, I've been without my PC for quite sometime.
I recently got a Diamond for both myself and wife, we have both flashed to the NEW sprint 2.00 ROM and we're both suffering from this DST bug.
We're both set back to Mountain Time after we start the phone. We've tried to set the correct time zone, then press the update time button and it resets it back to mountain which appears to be default now for some reason. I've installed Advanced Configuration Manager 3.3 and I've set everything back to "Default" restarted, soft reset, removed my battey, banged my against the sharp corner of my desk and nothing.
I did however get a new PRL update to 60651, I dun think that would affect it but who knows? anyone? Please help , for the amount of money we paid the auto time update feature should work.
I'm with Sprint, in Orange Ca.
HTC Diamond with the 'new' leaked Sprint 2.00 ROM
Thanks for this forum, since being a Diamond owner, I've found this forum to be priceless.

Its not a bug but some features that you activated or is activated by default after your flashing. To resolve your issue, go to phone settings>time zones> and uncheck "Automatic change time zone and clock". This should allow you to save your timezone.
Hope this helps.
Yeah, I've had to do that, Ultimately this isn't something I want to continue doing.
Simply put, This is an expensive phone. Everything should work properly.
I'm trying to edit the registry and make sure all the settings for GMT_OFFSET are correct. Trouble is I have two Diamonds that are incorrect.
What's even more confusing is why in God's green Earth would the phone default to Mountain Time after a sync or a restart?

You do this once and it is set, at least mine. This setting is conserved even after sync and restart.
One hypothesis that I have, is that when you set it for automatic time zone retrieval, the phone requests the time zone setting from your operator and if the latter has wrong time zone, your phone just use this information. I think that the time zone error is not with the phone but the operator diffusing wrong information.
This happens to me only when we had the DST change, the phone keeps going to the old time that is 1 hour earlier.
Just try this:
enabled "Automatic change time zone and clock", your time will be wrong as before even if you try to set manually your timezone and clock. Now turn on flight mode to disable your phone function and set manually good timezone and clock. It stay correct and doesn't revert back to the problem you were having. This demonstrates that the "Automatic change time zone and clock" settings is retrieve from your operator and maybe DST has not been taken in consideration by them.
Yes I've tried that. When you say operator do you mean my carrier?
Its Sprint in your case. I think its your carrier though here we call it operator
So it seems that nothing can be done. 400
dollar phone that can't keep time. Thanks for the help anyway guys
I'm seriously the only person to have been affected by this? I've hard reset just now and I'm right back to mountain time zone. I click synchronize time/update and...sigh
Is everyone with a Diamond just ok with leaving the button unchecked? A 50 dollar metropcs phone can keep time correctly, what gives?
I've had my operator take me out of the system , reprovision me, tried all the outdated (not for my OS or version but did it anyway) DST update patches from microsoft.
Could it be the ROM "Leaked Sprint 2.00?"
try installing this cab...its a daylight savings cab issued by Microsoft...it may fix it.

Hello.
This is my first post here although I've been lurking for quite some time now. So far I've found the forum very helpful. Thanks
Anyway, I've recently emailed HTC support about some problems I've had with my appointments being an hour off after I sync it with my PC. They've emailed me this patch to install on my phone, and so far it's worked swimmingly. I'm sharing it here just in case any of you have been having the same issues as well.
