Upgrading Cingular SX66...

I've bought locked version of cingular SX66 some how managed to unlock the set, but I'm affraid of trying upgrade my SX66, will it be safe to upgrade after unlock? or it'll lock the set again... I've downloaded the file from siemens' site but never tried?

I have a Cingular SX66. I unlocked the phone prior to upgrading to Win 2k5. Once you upgrade, you would need to unlock your phone again with the win 2k5 unlock took found in the Wiki.
As for upgrading, I have upgraded following the Wiki to the Himalaya ROM without any problems. There are some settings you will need to change when flashing your files.
XGULA01 is the carrier code I think. You need to double check that in the forums as well. The ROM is very stable but may give you delays like when you press the Start key. Other then that, there has been no problems after upgrading.

I too have a Cingular (AT&T version). I have not unlocked my phone (not sure it ever was, but I currently don't care) and have tried both the Himalaya and Wizard versions.
I found the Wizard version to be more stable and with a few less installation headaches. You do need to create a EXTROM directory on a SD card before you upgrade, but the results are worth it.

Siemens SX66 locked??
Cingular sells these unlocked. I bought mine at a Cingular Corporate store not a reseller and it was not locked. The one my roomate bought at a different Corp store was also unlocked. We have both upgraded to the last ROM Siemens had before they removed this device from their site without issue....

I didn't want to try the Wizard version due to its lack of resolutions with MS voice command.

I ran with the Wizard ROM for a while, but went to the Himalaya and believe it is much better. I posted a couple of my reasons in the BA Wizard ROM thread. One of them was how smooth Voice Command ran with the Himalaya ROM. There seemed to be a delay with everything using the Wizard ROM. There's a new Wizard ROM out there that I hope Mamaich can release for us to test. Maybe it will be better.

First of all I am new to the forum and a beginner with regards to pda phones and upgrading software etc.. I am switching from the blackjack phone to a treo 750 which I recieved today. I have read alot of good things about WM6 ( the unofficial version), which I downloaded and saved on my computer. I plan on giving it a try, I believe the instructions are pretty straightforward on how to flash to WM6, now the question is if something goes wrong or for some strange reason I don't like WM6 and would like to wait for the official version, how do I flash back to WM5. Take it easy on me, I'm a newbie.

I saw the answer posted somewhere in the main WM6 thread. You follow the same directions, but you need the WM5 rom. I'm pretty sure I saw someone post the download link for the WM5 rom.

does anyone know where to find the latest at&t Treo Rom for the rebranded at&t Treo 750 TREO750-1.13ATT
The ones listed are for the cingular branded 750.. not that there is much difference except at&t startup and shutdown logos and the alpha tag displays correctly..

Vodaphone UK WM5 ROM
As I am sellling this and it has the AT&T ROM on it, where can I get the Vodaphone or a generic WM5 ROM if asked to flash it back please? And it is just a case of doing what I did to put WM6 on here?

I loaded the CHeeDIAG (Misspelled?) file to SD Card and then press and hold the Button below the volume buttons then press the Reset Button, but this is where the problem starts. It should ask me to press the Power button to start, but nothing happens. All that happens is it shows a screen saying "Loading". I have waited for at least 30 minutes and nothing else happens. What I am doing wrong? Thanks for any advice.

Is there an AT&T version of the rom floating about? I have a 750 on trial and would love to try wm6 but would need to get it back to factory if I decide to return it.

I am having the same problem trying to flash back to WM5, I need to send my phone back to AT&T for a warranty exchange but I can't manage to get the WM5 firmware back on it

Anyone knows where I can get this? Spotted a dead pixel on my Treo and I need to flash it back to make an exchange. Tried the Vodafone ROM but had trouble unlocking the extended rom (had the infamous "inserkey failed" error).

I have a friend that wants his Cingualr Branded Treo 750 flashed back to WM5 as he is doing a warranty swap. I have downloaded the files listed on this thread, and am getting the same results ashrobo got, when I put the freshly formated (FAT32) memory card in with the CheeDIAG.nbh file in and reset into upgrade mode, I get the following;

It never doeas anything else. If I try to flash it with the ROM image, It gets as far as the OS section then fails. Any ideas?

I found the thread that said you don't need to run the diags first. He is now flashed back to WM5.

Palm released the WM6-Update in English now.
How long will they need to release the update in other languages, for example German ?
I asked Palm but they even have no planned release date they could tell ....................

Can u give us a feedback on such things as:
Are the alternate symbols working, i.e. umlaute like ä,ö,ü with on click, or do u still have to hit the navkey three times down to choose them?
What kind of branding does this rom offer? A1 or Vodafone splashscreen for powering on and off the phone? Any waste of storage, like program links known from the att rom?
I am really looking forward reeding u'r experiences.

The only branding in this Rom is the Vodafone logo at startup and shutdown. No additional crap and apps like in the AT&T one.To get rid of the Vodafone logo you could make the Treo vanilla by deleting the extrom as described in other threads here.To get the Umlauts just press the alt key.

Well, I cannot update. When I start the original Update I'll get the error, that the update isn't for my device. I have a REGULAR Treo 750 not the Vodafone branded one. So I know it's not the "right" one. Where do I get a patched RUU.exe or something?
I expanded the Updater .exe-File and started the T750URT.exe and he Flashed a ROM, and as there's only one, namely CHEEIMG_FW.nbh I thought I would have WM 6 on it, but I didn't.
So can it be, that I have to unlock my device? Or is it an other problem?

To upgrade you can use the SD-card method described in this forum.
Or try this one:
- start the updater, stop at the first screen
- look at your temp directory, there is a new folder created
- edit the file "payloads.xml", in the section "carrier codes" replace the 3 letters with the letters you see on your treos system info
- go on with the updater (start update)

format the SD-Card, copy file on it, reset while pressing the button below the volume-control and wait
A 750v (what you'll get - Imho) is not able to pull the Mailboxnumber from your Sim (if it's not a VF one) and it is not editable.
Can you imagine to make an Image of your original 750? Because it's german.

If you tell me how, I would surely make an image of my treo 750 without V before upgrading to wm6. I would also love to have an backup, but i got no idea how to do it. And there's no Information in the Wiki.

Couldn't find anything on the FTP regarding Dumping a Treo ROM.
Will search buzz's site but if I can't find anything there and nobody can tell how to dump, I will upgrade without a previous dump.

I just couldn't take it any more and did the unofficial upgrade this morning, only to see the official release 2 hours later. Its me, its all my fault, I should have fallen on my sword earlier for the rest of you - kinda like washing your car to get it to rain.
My only question now is, do I still need (want) the official upgrade?
I'm showing 2.23 (vs 2.25) and it all seems to be working fine......

RGB rom screen HELP!!!
Its been a while since this thread has been active!!!
I have a Treo 750 that i've owned for a few years now with no problems. Two days ago I rest my phone and it went into the diagnostic rom mode with the RGB screen.
It says:
Palm Tr
IPL-0.20
Palm Tr
SPL-0.24.0000
WHere can I find the needed files if this phone is no loger being supported by Palm (or is it?!). I need my phone! Please help!

Treo 750 WM6 Upgrade

Ok I've been doing searching on the forum and find there are quite a few ROMs to update the WM OS. I want to upgrade from WM5 to WM6. I have a Treo 750 cingular phone which is unlocked. I'm currently using Tmobile on it. What is the latest but stable ROM that I can use for WM6? I am unsure as to which to go with. I am also in the US if that isn't apparent.

AT&T provided a stable WM6 ROM a long time ago. If you want stable and don't want to mess around with cooked ROMs, that would be your best bet.

It's the first one on the list.
Personally, I am using the cooked WM6.1 ROM (not the 'lite' version). It's pretty good in the stability department, but I find myself doing soft resets more often than on the AT&T WM6 ROM.

The links are dead to the generic rom on that link you provided. However, my phone is unlocked. If I upgrade using ATT stable release from ATT themselves will I have to unlock the phone again?

hello, do you know how well this runs on the treo? i've updated my bj2 to wm6.1 and it ran kinda laggy

well... after upgrading to wm6 my initial thoughts are that its not tooo shabby at all. thanks for the link dood.

I had same error. What i did was to disable the antivirus and then it worked perfect.

now this sounds like it should be a real simple thing yet my treo seems very stubborn. what gives? heres my story;
(device= treo 750 at&t bone stock(no mods) locked wm5.
7›4hard reset (okay)
7›4unzip contents of sdupdater downloaded off mytreo.net(okay)
7›4put contents in root cheeimg.nhb, cheeimg.??? (32 b) folder i think 2257 or close to that. (okay)
7›4hold ptt & press pin reset(okay)
7›4two outcomes here:
-4gb sdhc fat32= stuck on tri color screen says; cheeta
IPL-0.20
cheetah MFG
SPL-0.14
and it stays there
then with 1gb microsd fat32 it does all above then flashes a white screen says updating in red letters with some numbers (hex address?) for like 2sec and pops back to tri color screen and says serial at bottom.
do i have the wrong ROM ver?
