I have installed latest programs that allow reassignment of soft keys - but, I am unable to find any program that allows Tilt/Kaiser to be unlocked by holding the PTT button.
Sleuth255's PTT fix on the 8525 (Tytn) allowed me, while phone was locked, to use the PTT button - "push & hold" - to toggle vibrate/ring and the "push" function to access Voice Command. On the TytnII (Tilt/Kaiser), if phone is locked, PTT button fix will not allow access to any program.
Thus, if there is no method of assigning a soft button to unlock phone, is there a way of having the PTT fix allow the push & hold function toggle vibrate/ring while phone is locked?

Is it possible to remap my voice-dial button to use as a device lock button?
Or any other way (without using extra programs) to achieve this?
yes it is, check out the thread named "Yet another device lock application" or search for amstrong, he made such an app. It calls the device lock today-plug-in, but you can disable the plug-in from the today screen and the app will continue to work. I use AEBPlus to bind it to my comm manager button, double clicking the button will lock the device. Binding it to your voice dial button is also possible with AEBPlus. I'll attach both files here.
Great stuff Koksie.
Thanks a lot!
One thing I discovered, instead of AEBplus you can also use the "buttons" option in the settings to map Device Lock to a hardware button.
Yes, you can of course do it that way, but then you loose the original functionality of that button. With AEBPlus I just bind the devicelock to a double click on my Comm manager button. One click still brings up the original Comm Manager. In this way I can bind apps to buttons and still leave the original button set-up as it came out of the box.
That's true, but I never use VoiceDialing so it's no problem for me
What is different with Device Lock on Today? And how to turn off backlight except Power button? It's mean like Nokia. When you in key lock mode, you can't turn on backlight excep press unlock keypad.
the basic function is the same as the today plug-in. By using this app, you don't have to use the touch screen to lock your device and you can remove the plug-in from your today screen, thereby freeing up space on the screen.
I don't really understand your other question. If you mean that you want the backlight off untill you unlock the device, that is not possible with this app, since to unlock you need the touchscreen and therefore the backlight comes on.

log in to this site and you will see the attached files in my first post in this thread.
whoops...
Is there a way to use it to unlock as well? I'd like to use the button to lock and unlock without touching the device
Just wondering if it is possible to remap the PTT button so it does the same thing as the center button on the 'D-Pad'.
I removed the PTT registry keys so that it no longer runs the AT&T PTT program, and I have spb Pocket Plus installed so I am able to map the key.
spb just doesn't offer that specific action to map the ptt key to. I have also found where I would be able to create an action in the registry, I just don't know what key values to make..
\HKLM\ButtonApps\Spb Pocket Plus\ is the location of the commands i can map to. In the folder there is a [Close] folder and in it there are 3 reg keys.
"""
(Default) (value not set)
AppFilePath \Program Files\PocketPlus\ActionSender.exe
Parameters -key PLUSACTION{0016|00000000} Close
"""
I wanted to create a new folder for [Execute] (or something) and have it send the d-pad execute key... is that possible?
Or is there just a way to edit the registry and add mapping for the PTT to execute manually?
There is a lot of info re this on this site. Search for PTT and I believe you will find how to do this.
I tried and found threads about mapping the PTT button. And I can map it to a program, no problem. but I want to map it to the d-pad 'action' key (center key on the kaiser), which is not a program. I just don't know where to find the registry keys for the d-pad.
I searched all over the place to remap the PTT Button on my AT&T Tilt without altering the ROM. I don't use or want to use Push To Talk services which made the PTT Button useless, Remappers weren't working and the PTT settings screen kept poping up every time I hit the button.
So I tried the following solutions:
1: How to assign a shortcut to EndKey, SendKey, Power Button, PTT Button!!
+ This allowed me to assign another program to the key (Voice Command, Short_PTT.lnk). And it worked fine.
- However, the PTT Settings kept popping up also, though it would go away if I just ignored it.
2: Cingular ROM users: PTT function hacked!
+ Though this is not really for the Tilt/Kaiser, and it would not accept any remap in accordance with its directions, it did disable the PTT Settings program from rearing its ugly head.
++ Combined with solution 1 above, this button does exactly what I want it to do!
Thanks to the 2 contributors, HMA4 and SLEUTH255, Cheers!

Did you delete the PTT registry entry? Otherwise, your remap won't stick.
What I did was
1) delete the PTT registry entry
2) remaps the button using SPB Pocket Plus.
I searched but could not find the registry entry, and I have pocket plus, remapping wasn't working, probly due to the registry (and I'm not very comfortable editing that anyway). This has stuck through several resets, and can be uninstalled if i wish, maybe you could elaborate because I may not understand any negative implications in this method.
I'm pretty new at pocket PC's.
Thanks.
Here ya go!

Here's mine,
1)Disable PTT (Credit to vpoet)
2)In the registry navigate to the hklm\services\ptt
Back it up and delete it (yes the entire key)
3) Install cab
It'll map a new button 6; (two functions-button 6 press and button 6 hold) and also allow you to change whatever is on the button using the button menu in settings.
(It's default icon for button 6 is Voice Speed Dial, and button 6 (hold) is record, but you can change either key to what you want.)

Thanks, I didn't know that I could remap it with SBP Pocket Plus, but it works like a charm.
actually, i found this to be the absolute simplest solution available (no programs, just three registry tweaks):
http://tiltsite.com/2008/02/remap-that-ptt-button/
is there a way to remove PTT from 'Programs' also?
Hello People,
I've looked around and can only find details for remapping the PTT button, which has no affect on the button on the headphones.
If you double press the button it calls the last number you dialed, If you press and hold it, it opens voice commander (if installed) But ive installed Microsoft Voice Command and now the function has stopped working all together, do any of you know how to manipulate this button in the registry?
Thanks in advance.
I wonder if there is some tweak or program that does a selective key lock... Under "settings" there is just the option of locking all keys but I wonder if it could be possible to lock all keys except the round center enter key for example. (this way you can turn on the phone by just clicking this more accessible key on the Diamond)
