HI all, I dont know if anyone has this situation...
Everytime I press on the screen, the screen generates a bit like a water wave and the situation is just like pressing on a LCD monitor.
My old M3100 doesnt have this situation...how about u guyz? do you have water wave when u press on your tytn ii?
thanks
Hmmm, maybe it's because you ARE pressing on a LCD screen... I never press hard enough to see it, but I'm sure it would.
Yea seriously, how hard are you pressing? I don't think you need to be pressing nearly as hard as you are. I can see the ripple if I press really hard, but that much force isn't necessary for your taps to be recognized (and its probably not good for the screen).
I was going to post about this earlier. I too have this problem. I owned an 8525 before, and it never rippled unless you were exerting massive force.
My current Tilt you barley tap it (like say, you are touching the dial pad to call someone) and it has two large ripples happening.
Is this normal for everyone? I called ATT about this, and they just sent me a new one. I just haven't opened the new one yet.
I found this out cos I am using my finger to use the Touchflo...I didnt apply a very aggressive pressure on it...I even see the ripple when I slide the keyboard out. Is it normal?
no its not normal if you are pressing softly and having wave like that. Please do the warranty exchange.

AT&T just sends you a new phone without even asking for the old one back?
I've seen the small ripple when sliding the screen out. Maybe it's the magnetic switch..who knows. Doesn't happen all the time.
I have uploaded a video on youtube about my screen problem
I only pressed it gently on the screen.

Do you guyz have this problem?
Anyone? it seems I am the only one to have this problem...
Hi
It depends on the LCD panel, there are different types of panel, some will ripple when pressed or distorted even very slightly others don't.
The problem with asking others is there are at least two different types of LCD panel used in the Kaiser. One we know to be transreflective that works in direct sunlight and looks kind of green rather than black when off, and one that's not transreflective that is black when off and doesn't work too well in direct sunlight. These panels may well be using different LCD technologies in other ways meaning not everyone will see the same as you.
Mine isn't transreflective and doesn't do this, so perhaps you have a transreflective type that also ripples under pressure. It isn't a fault with the LCD display, rather HTC sourcing whatever types of panel they can get at the time for the cheapest price. You wouldn't normally use a panel that ripples when pressed on a touch screen for obvious reasons, but HTC have. Maybe it was a shortage in supply and there are not many that use this type?
Regards
Phil
It shouldn't happen. Exchange it.

They charge you for the second one and then refund it when they receive the old one.

They sent my second one out to me at no charge. They forgot to include the shipping labels...again... so they will probably just end up letting me keep the device.
Anyhow, my Tilt ripples exactly in the same place that the video showed, and in the same way.

Is the ripple gone for your second one?
Where is your Tilt made?
What's the model code under the battery (ie. KAIS300)?

We don't know this at all, there apparently are at least two screen types but neither was transreflective, both blew out in direct sun.
The ripple is a function of the thickness of the glass screen. Since liquid crystal displays work by electrostatic twisting of a liquid suspension of quartz crystals thereby bending the light to allow it to pass thru polarizing filters, any physical movement of this suspension will also cause visible light artifacts. So if the front panel is lighter weight material, it will show more "ripples" if pressed firmly.

There are different technologies used in the production of LCD panels and how the glass is spaced to give room to create the pockets for the liquid crystal.
Some displays "water" when you press them, others don't, it depends on what the type of LCD display it is. My monitor at work can be pressed and nothing happens, my one at home is the opposite. It's not hard to find this explained on the internet.
The Kaiser is using different types of display using different technologies. Typically for touch screen applications (unless the display as a touch glass front) would not be of the type to ripple when pressed for the reason it will be pressed and flexed, but obviously HTC is supplying anything they can get.

Hello, I've had my diamond about a week, looked after it, no physical damage to it as far as i noticed...
but just been browsing and notice a small line about 1cm long across the screen only visible on light background, rainbow coloured. would this be a scratch underneath the screen? i dont feel any roughness on the outer screen. how would this happen, any solutions? cheers.

Same here...
Thats a fault with the screen, I work for a big TV company and that is the most common fault we see in our service centre! is it a green line? if so then its probably some dust on an internal connector, According to our engineers its easy to fix but invoves taking the whole screen off!
(this is how it works with TV's im pretty sure its the same with a phone screen!)
That's funny, I recently noticed the exact same kind of scratch on mine.
I can only tell with a white background though...
That happened to me aswell. Just do a soft reset, it worked for me .

We're not talking about the same thing here.
In my case, it's clearly a scratch considering I can see it with the device turned OFF under the right lighting conditions (and at a certain angle).
I can't tell if it's the screen protection or the actual screen that's damaged though and I don't really care to try to find out
When I first ordered my tilt, immediately after I had the fear that the screen would be like most other PDA screens - they get "depressed" when you push them in, they feel plasticy, and they go "weird" when you press on them even slightly hard. To my dismay, the phone WAS like this! A perfect example of a good screen would be the fuze, iPhone, and the at&t quickfire. The screens feel solid, and glassy. Why doesn't the Kaiser have this?
Good Question. Id suggest writing HTC Please let us know what they say

Simple. Don't do that. There's zero problem with the Tilt screen otherwise. Light touches, moderate touches, swipes, finger, stylus, all are fine. Of course this is referring to the digitizer. What you're referring to could be a mix of both I suppose.
I don't *poke* LCDs, it's just a bad idea.

Digitizers like the one used on the Kaiser work by having a soft layer that when touched will warp and touch a 2nd layer slightly below it, which will sense the touch and allow finding the coordinates.
The newer screens like on the iphone use another touch sensing process, but those are very new (the iphone was the first portable device to use one AFAIK), and are only becoming widespread in the current generation - i.e. the one AFTER the Kaiser.

He means that even with the stylus or barely touching with the finger the digitizer will slightly "deform", which you can easily see if watching a reflection on the screen and touching it, and the related softness. It's normal and he isn't abusing it.
Hi
can anybody tell me how to resolve that problem ??
Unfortunately I had the habbit of keeping my phone in my jeans butt pocket, even when I switched to Diamond touch screened phone I kept doing that, but I realized that the screen got some slight concavity on it that even reflects as irregular pattern of colors seen only when screen switched off or when on but from a sharp viewing angle.
How to correct that ??? any ideas ???
Thanks
Replace the screen.
Change phone carrying habits.
It is a hardware issue, so not easy to fix. Beware that the screen is multi layered (touch screen) so it is possible that any physical shape alterations will seriously change the way it works. It happens that screens go weird when there's dust & debris between screen and the outside body of the phone...
Thanks for your reply
Is it worth it to replace the screen ?? or maybe its better off selling it for less cash then buy another one ?
I have noticed that there is a matrix of visible small dots 2 mm apart from each other, I guess this is the touch-sensing system.
Yeah, the touch-sensitive layer got squished. It should still work fine for now, but over time the touch sensitivity may get worse. The only way to fix it is to get it replaced. If it's still under warranty you should replace it that way, better than selling and buying a completely new Diamond. If not, you can replace it yourself with this: http://mobile.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=03449&dept_id=088&cat_id=0695
Thanks fhsieh for the info and link.
I will replace it when it fails eventually, now I am releaved and I know that I've got a solution
Hey everyone,
since 2 or 3 months I've got an HTC Kaiser. I really like it, it is equipped with an TF2D integrated ROM, so far everything nice
But as you can see in my device history, I formerly got an HTC P4350, these one was terribly slow! But it had one thing which was a thousand times better than my Kaiser:
The Touch screen was accurate. When I'm working (or whatever) with my kaiser, I sometimes have to tap 5-6 times on the screen until I reach my destination due to the bad touchscreen accuracy.
I tried also a screen allignment but it had no positive effect, it is for alligning the screen and to set the required pressure but thats not what I'm searching for.
I need a screen on which it tap while using Icontact for example and with which I am able to hit the contact which I prefer (and the buttons are really big and not all other ones around... But usually I have to tap several times to reach my destination.
This occurs even a little more whilie using it without a stylus.
And also i think the lowest accuracy is located in the center of the screen. So anyone has an Idea how to solve this matter?
Is a new LCD helpful?
When I used my bosses phone the accuracy was also very low - maybe it is a general problem for the Kaiser? (He has also an HTC Kaiser)
I don't know - so is anyone able to help me with that matter?
Best regards,
Maeffjus
are you using a screen protector?
if so, try removing the screen protector and then check the accuracy.
if the accuracy improves after removing the screen protector, then you can either use the phone without the screen protector or buy a brand new screen protector.
finally, try cleaning under the edges of the frame of the screen with a thin piece of cardboard or a rigid plastic sheet.
No, I'm not using a protector...
I'm often cleaning the screen edges with business-cards (otimal solution *lol*)
The screen was equiped with a protector when I bought the phone but I removed it immediately.
And also the accuracy is bad on my bosses Kaiser...
Hey all
After reading this forum for ages I took the plunge on a Z1, and am not disappointed!
I had one question, if anyone is able to help.
The hardware buttons light up with a nice white LED.
However, the one on the left (select open apps) is much, much brighter than the one on the right (back).
In fact, it's almost as if the right hand one doesn't work at all.
Is this the same as everyone else's phone, or does mine have a defect?
Many thanks to anyone that can compare theirs.
Uri
P.S: I have the grey one with the black front, which may make this more noticeable.

Is a hardware issue, I think.
My 2 buttons has the same light intensity and is a good intensity.
In my previous prone, a OnePlus One, I have suffered this issue: the back button had a lower light intensity compared to the other buttons.

Thanks very much for the quick reply
To be honest, everything else about the phone is perfect (screen, fingerprint scanner, buttons don't wobble, etc), so for the first time in my life I might just live with "almost-perfect".
I had too many issues with iPhones and am worried if I swap it out, then the replacement will have some other defect like screen bleed, etc, etc.

If you can live with this issue: Don't return it!
I also haven't returned my OPO. Is a small detect I think
Easy to fix
I had this issue too, but it is easy to fix. When you open your phone backcover, you only have to remove the speaker and reposition the led. The led is loose in a cable and so you can reposition it until the buttons have the same intensity and fix it with some glue.
On my phone the intensity is now exactly the same and i only needed half an hour for it.
When you remove the backcover warm it up a bit and use a sucker to avoid scratches in the frame.
Well I can confirm that I have the same issue on my white Zuk! But it's not very noticeable so i'm keeping it like it is!

Wasn't very hard to remove, i didn't brake any clips. Use a sucker and as soon as you see a little gap, use a plastic pick or your fingernails to gently pull up the backcover.
After i opened it i removed the tape from the phone and the backcover. After the work is done you can simply close the Backcover without tape or something. I didn't use tape and had no gaps afterwards.

Same for me. back button light intensity is very low compared to menu button. Its not a big issue. My friend also having same issue. you may get same problem in that replacement unit also. So,better keep as it is.
@arunpkrt and @aniketsabarad If you don't mind there is also an option inside the Zuk Z1 lights configuration to switch off this little ugly menu LED and back LED. The function itself stays active and the touch area is large enough to hit the sensitive zone blinded easily .

You guys are right. I faced this problem initially. The phone was perfect, I set it up nicely and was using it. But after a day or two this back button led issue started frustrating me. I applied for a replacement and was surprised to see that even the replacement unit had same issue. So really no point getting it replaced. If it really bothers, you can take the risk to open up the back case as other members suggested.
I also have the same issue but its not important because im using onscreen keyboard.
Overall is perfect but one thing is missing. We still dont have marshmallow to enjoy before Android N release.
Edit: Happy 500th post to me! God Bless!
I don't have the issue, but if ever I had it, it won't matter as I disabled the hardware buttons once I started using mine. 5.5" is too much of a screen and the 3 on screen buttons don't take up that much space. I am much worried about pressing the hard home button because I read from some users that it failed after 2 or three months of using the phone. I only use it for finger print. No need to press it. Double tap to wake, double tap to sleep. No hard buttons to wear.
