mail issues - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I reflashed my phone with the big storage rom. it runs a LOT faster. however, when i put flexmail on it, it starts running really slowly with respect to sms and email.. is there an imap client supporting idle that doesn't make my new phone feel like an old brick phone?

All confuseo

I have the T-Mobile MDA. I just upgraded from WM5 to Faria's "Real Thing" edition of WM6.
I'm terribly confused on what's going on with my phone right now. On my first flash the phone was really slow. I had no email, internet, phone wouldn't work, etc. I flashed the ROM a second time and things worked better. But I still didn't have internet, email or MMS. I could make phone calls though so I reckon that's progress. I did some digging around on this site and found a fix for the MMS problem. I can send emails as long as I'm USB connected to my laptop, otherwise it's receive only. The internet works now and the overall reception of the phone seems to have improved over my previous ROM flash from around 6 months ago. So it's not all bad news. For some reason I can't post ads for things I want to sell on Craigs List but I think that's a totally different issue. If I could just get this outgoing email problem fixed, I would be happy. Is there a setting or something that I overlooked or a cab file that I need? Thanks in advance for your help.

MDA Vario III + Hotmail Push email problems

Hi all,
first of all big thanks to all the guys on here, my MDA is nearly how i would like it to be using some of the information from here, great work and keep it up, donations sent to those deserving!
I am using the latest version of windows live mail (10.6.33.0600 thanks duttythroy!) but not matter how i put the settings (currently as items arrive and alway) email tends to have a mind of its own as to wether it is forward automatically or not. seams to work for a while they just stop forwarding, anyone else had/having/resolved these probelsm?? Access is via tmobile web'n'walk unlimited access.
cheers
Matt

yup works every now n then for me too
Yep... Me too
Also having Hotmail and Windows Live problems. So much so that I am seriously considering downgrading to the new BlackBerry, just to be able to stay online and keep my emails and MSN chats available.
Anyone know how to rectify this problem before I go the route of BlackBerry???
PS. I received a email from my mate saying that Yahoo has some or other version of push mail available, if that helps. Got the link somewhere, aint tried it yet as it dont help me with my current email accounts.
I'm probably headed down the same route. One of the primary reasons I decided on the Vario III was for email capabilities and viewing Excel files at work but so far it's been nothing but a disappointment.
Syncing constantly fails. Sometimes my inbox comes back with nothing in it. I haven't managed to download a single attachment successfully, pdf, xls or doc. This is ridiculous.
Microsoft Push Email
I phoned my service provider as my Vario ii came with BlackBerry connect software, but I never bothered with it until I got the Vario iii and started having all these problems. Long story short, they say you cant use the BB software or service unless its with a BB. BUT... they said something about Microsoft Push Email... Which I am on the phone to them now to find out about, but the TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT WONT PICK UP THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!
Update: There is nothing that these ppl can do to get me what I want, so... What I ended up doing, and its costing me a few quid a month, which is worth it, is set up a NEW PUSH ACCOUNT with my website. So far, it seems to be working.
But, I am also told, for you Hotmail users, that if you upgrade to Hotmail PLUS, that it might also support the push option. Not sure yet, going to try find out now. If you are like me that lives for email on the go, (well, only recently that is) then it might be worth spending the extra cash. Will be in touch to let you know what else I find out...
No good news to report
Ok guys... I tried almost everything. I dunno if its the Windows Live Software or the T-Mobile Internet Connection, but even after I signed up for a PUSH EMAIL from my website hosting provider, I still get SYNC ERRORS or SENDING MESSAGE ERRORS, so Im putting it down to one of 2 things... A consistant connectivity problem with either the Vario 3 or with the Service Provider, in my case T-mobile.
Which makes my next statement rather contradictory. I am getting rid of the Vario 3 and replacing it with the new BlackBerry Curve 8300, but sticking with my T-Mobile contract (kinda because I still have a year left on it) I will also be upgrading my current contract to provide me with the BlackBerry Service, which pushes up my monthly tariff but, saves me from Burst Blood vessels and anurisms in the brain, when the emails wont send or retrieve.
I weighed up the pro's and con's of the BB and the Vario3. Sure the Vario3 has more features and the touch screen and so on, but the BB doesn't have a sliding keyboard which could potentially wear out (Like on my Vario 2 from constant use) Its thinner than the Vario3 and way lighter.
This is not a product review, I guess, so if anyone out there knows why I shouldn't make the swap, please let me know asap before I go ahead and do it.
Take in to consideration that reliable email service and connection is mostly what I am after.
Good News... sort of
My email has been holding sold for a few days, since my last post. That is with the PUSH EMAIL I set up from my website.
The other thing that I thought was rather interesting, was that I removed Windows Live and Messenger from the SETTINGS, SYSTEM, REMOVE PROGRAMS. But... Its still on my Vario iii even though it shows that it was removed and... I have yet to have a SYNC FAILURE message. It seems to be working brilliantly.
So, in conclusion, decided to keep the Vario iii especially since doing some surfing and finding some awesome accessories aswell as Games like Quake and Duke Nukem to play on it.
Have fun and good luck.
hotmail - vario 3 - pop3 imap help!!!
I am also tearing my hair apart with my vario 3 trying to get my email. I have hotmail plus surely that should do the trick....
has anyone bottomed out what the problem is? Could be of interest but my work TMob account (uk) synced fine to hotmail/push email up until the other day.
my boss emailed me the other day saying that he'd just opened his bill and found that my months access charges was £800 as web and walk wasnt enabled on the account. which it is now.
so, in summery my hotmail syncing was fine when i wasnt on web and walk. but it 90% fails to connect now its on web and walk. (not tried pop/imap yet though, just push/normail windows live setup.

Moving from Blackberry

I'm considering switching from my Blackberry 8700 to a Kaiser. (T-Mobile MDA vario III).
I'd welcome any information on the stability of the unit? My last windows mobile about 3 years ago, XDA ii, was awful, crashing and locking up.
How far have things come? How often can I expect crashes if I just use the inbuilt apps?
Many thanks
D
I also moved from Blackberry Pearl. Kaiser and WM6 is very stable. No lockups, programs work as expected. For ATT, I just transferred the sim from the Pearl and made some changes to the contract.

Thanks,
I've been reading the battery life is not too good?
Also do you use Exchange push email? How much drain does that put on the battery? It seems negligible with the Blackberry.
I'm frustrated by the lack of features on the BB, ie no 3g, camera or wifi.
D
The battery life is indeed not as good as the BB. I do use Exchange Push html email, works perfectly, you can see all attachments much better than the BB. I installed an extened battery (2700 mAh, you can get it from many sources) and I run Bluetooth, Exchange mail (push) and several phones and web searches all day. I recharge at night. The battery is the weakest part of all WM6 devices in my opinion. It is compensated however by the richness of features, the email attachment issues, etc. I also love the GPS on this phnoe. I installed TomTom and I use it in any car I rent and it works flawlessly.

Hi,
I am using exchange email via Visto PushEmail solution on my kaiser and battery life hasn't been of any issues. Emails viewing, office attachment viewing has never been so much easier on Kaiser, not to mention, typing of email as well.
My push email application integrates itself onto the system, so my contacts, task and calendar are sync directly to my kaiser, doesn't require me to do any wired syncing to outlook. it is on 24hrs a day, battery consumption is negligible to me. I have not use an BB device before, but if compare with Nokia E61i, the battery life is definitely alot better and also lots of application available to enhance your experience.
anyway, if you guys are interested in this Visto Solution, try www.visto.com
if interested in a test account, let me know, i know someone from the company who can help us. just want to say that i am a frequent handset changer, so this is one application which I must say, I have never regretted installing ... definitely better than BB Connect.

What is this Visto service ? It's not clear on their website.
Do they purpose a pushmail application or a pushmail account on their server ?
I would be very interested to sync my Calendar/notes/ etc with my company account through 3G connection, I tried many VPN softwares but none worked.
I could access my emails/calendar infos via a microsoft exchange server using a web browser but I could not sync it.
Any working solution would be appreciated ...

IMAP with google

hi guys, i got my Diamond and was very pleased with it, but i got a problem with the Outlook e-mail client...
i've set-up my outlook client to sync with my gmail imap, but i found out that it won't sync with the schedule settings (x minutes) while on stanby mode... a very strange behavior...
but when i turn on the device it will automatically sync with gmail, but the problem is i need to keep on turning my device on & off... it's just like using the manual checking method...
anyone out there having the same problem?
i've tried exchange push mail, it works fine even the device is on standby mode... (the D-pad ring flashes if i got mail pushed immediately)
Getting exactly the same issue, been searching around, but can't find a solution to it at all. If I do a manual send and receive then everything comes through fine.
It sometimes seem to work, but more often than not it doesn't. Anyone have an idea of a solution or what the problem is?
Also does anyone know how to schedule it so it only does it during certain hours of the day?
Thanks
Is there a way round this?
I've now worked out that when the diamond is locked with the screen off, it's effectively in suspend and won't check for e-mails while in this state. Is there a way round this? Think it's a bit silly that unless you 'wake it' it doesn't check for new mail.
or do I need to use push.....
I have the same problem for my other IMAP account as well. Don't know if POP is affected by this.. My screen is not locked when turned off however, it's just... off, stand-by.
We should not have to use push. That truly is completely different. Might this be some energy saving issue?
I've got the same problem! Anyone with any ideas?
was using ROM 1.37.707.1 before,
and now i am just upgraded to 1.93.831.1
in both version my IMAP with gmail worked fine.... sync time is every 5 min, and my phone get the mail even when on stanby....
default settings, even the IMAP settings were set automaticly
I just upgraded to SwiftBL 4.0, which is ROM 1.93.405.1. In that ROM, email works all right, but not fetching mail each 5 minutes in stand-by. When powered on it works flawlessly, it just won't wake up.
not only happens on Google, it happens on Hotmail too, it wont sync until the device is turned on manually from standby mode.
so just upgrade to 1.93 this issue will be resolved?
Nope, as I just said.. I'm running a 1.93 ROM, it does not work.
In fact, I did a test on this issue by removing the TF3D interface, unfortunately, the problem remains with and without TF3D. Most likely this is caused by the WM itself.
p.s. running 1.37 atm
It's a known issue and has been discussed a few times already. Sometimes it works, but it's not clear when.
I've tried other email software, but I did not really find a good one. I also tried Emoze and Emansio. Both do not support sub-folder. Emansio works perfect (also in stand-by) but it's not cheap.
So, I'm still searching for a good solution
I suffer the same.
I got to a point were I think I should decide when I have time to read my email, so I put in on Manual sync.
For some time ago I thought it was kick ass that mail got in to my Diamond automatically, but I do nothing with it.
Now, when I have some minutes, I sit down and check my mail Safes battery and my time
the best solution should be wait for the ROM fix I believe..
i've upgraded my rom to the original 1.93 (HK english) & found out that the e-mail for gmail imap is working perfectly...
i've tried to use it for a day, i even turned off my push mail to see if it really works...
it's doing fine for now, i set it to receive every 30 mins, so far i haven't got any delays or miss emails...
How do you lock your phone?
I found after upgrading to 1.93 it seemed to work fine, but I was using s2u2 at the time. I uninstalled this and now use the built in lock to come on automatically when I turn the screen off. Now it does not check for e-mails at all. Is there a setting to stop this or another locking app which won't stop e-mails from checking - I found s2u2 draining the battery so don't want to go back to it.
What one needs to have push email working on Diamond. I have 2 Gmail IMAP accounts that want to be pushed to my mobile?

Push email and IMAP are two different things.
To have Push email, you need to have Exchange Server, which has Push email functionality.
Give yerself a break, get email once in 15 minutes.
I have got rid of the eager of getting the mails immediatedly: I mostly don't have time to answer anyway.
I know have set it to once in an hour! In weekends once in 4 hours. I myself make out when I want to read my mail, that's why push-email has been disabled here
Saves battery too

Enable, Wake Up on new E-mail...

Hi All,
I'm trying to enable my phone to wake up when I receive a new e-mail (when my device is locked and on standby). I want it to wake-up just like when I get a text message.
I'm using L26's WM6.1 Diamond V9 ROM, I'd appreciate if someone could notify me of a reg tweak please.
Please help, no-one has respond.
Have you tried activating push mail? I've got mine configured to work with Exchange Server and it beeps when I get mail. The only problem is that it eats battery big time.
yeap, I've got 5 different accounts setup on my device and one of them is exchange server.

The point is to get the device to wake up - it's already beeping, but staying in Suspend.
I don't think it's possible...
you have to use kaiser tweaks, serach and you will find it here; and enable all value to the "adviced value"
It's not possible to do it the way you want. When the Kaiser is on standby its processor is stopped, so can't receive e-mails. If you use the tweaks mentioned above it will work but your device will never go into standby, only the screen will be deactivated while the processor still runs in the background, not mentioning the active data connection. That means your battery life will go down to somewhere around 5 hours.
What should be needed is an app that uses the notification queue to make the device periodically wake up like an alarm would do, check mail and respectively return to standby / beep according to whether there's new mail or not. But it seems there's no such app out there. With the number of people asking for it, some motivated developer could for sure make a few bucks if he made one
My Kaiser use to wake up when I received e-mails/text messages on my previous ROMs e.g. Dutty's WM6.1 diamond V1 and the official WM6.1. It only doesn't work on this current ROM (L26's Diamond WM6.1 V9).
I find this wired that, the incoming text messages wake up my phone on this ROM but the e-mails doesn't?

Text messages yes, e-mails I doubt, see the following for reason.

Totally normal due to hardware design. On HTC devices, the mobile radio is a block that is separate and independent from the main processor. The radio can do all network-related jobs by itself while the main processor is sleeping, but has a hardware way to wake it up when necessary. When it receives a text messages, it accepts it and receives it on its own, then wakes up the main processor to tell it it has a new message.
E-mails and other internet communication is handled by the main processor itself, so obviously can't take place when it's not running. It needs to be turned on for that kind of tasks to be executed.
If another ROM was waking up when receiving emails, then it was doing what I said earlier, turning on the phone (maybe in an "invisible" way keeping the screen off) periodically to check e-mails. Never seen that functionality yet though.

Thanks for that explanation, where would I get the Kaiser Tweak emad.ebrahim mentioned?
The explanation still does not explain why I got sounds when I receive an email either via Exchange ActiveSync or in periodic checks of my POP email. Nor does it explain why a Treo 750 can wake from an incoming email.
