I've gotten it twice now. It'll say 1 unread message, when all are read. You can try emptying messages, but it still says 1 unread.
Is there any type of fix for this other then reloading the rom?
I found this little program the last time this happened on my Wing - it has happened twice, but the first time, I had to hard-reset for another reason, which took care of the problem.
I had to fool around a little with this, trying different combinations of runnning the app and soft resetting before I got the result I was looking for.
Anyway, here it is, good luck with it.

So a few weeks ago while traveling, my phone freaked out in the airport. Now the phone keeps saying I have 1 new text message. When I goto the text messages section, there is nothing there.
I tried clearing all messages out (sent, deleted and inbox), did not work. I tried resetting the device. That did not work.
So I am stuck of what to do. Any suggestions?
anyone??? I have never seen anything like it before.
I suggest you use the search function of this glorious website.

About a week ago I hit delete and let it do its work over night since it was going to take forever.
First off, my Tilt only deleted the messages in the inbox, not the outbox. Then a few days later I reset my phone to check something, then ALL my text messages were back, and all of the texts that I've sent/gotten in between were gone.
Is there a certain way I'm suppose to delete this stuff?
I don't know how that happened, and I cannot think of any kind of special procedure to deleting SMS messages. What happens if you just delete like 10 at a time? Does that work?
Dave
Well the thing about that, I have over 20,000 text messages stored on my phone hah.. So doing 10 at a time would just take wayyy too long.
Whenever I hit my soft reset button, all my text messages from that day to a couple days before are gone. It's kinda weird and I don't quite understand it. But yeah, I'm just trying to figure out a way where I can delete them all to where they won't come back hah. Who ever thought it'd be so hard.
Has anyone else ever had this problem?
I can't view MMS messages now because it tells me to clear more space. I've deleted several large size mms messages off of my phone, on top of a grip of text messages to clear space, but it hasn't cleared anything. How can I fix this?
Hard-Reset
I had the same problem on my T-Mobile MDA...never did figure it out. But whenever I deleted them, they always came back. I haven't tried deleting all my texts on the Tilt yet.

I think unpredictable things start to happen when you have upwards of 20000 messages.
The other week my phone crashed and i had to hard reset it because it was carrying 47000 SMS messages, i think the problem i had was the SMS datbase corrupted when i as attempting to delete my biggest thread, with well over 6 months of messages in it.
So yeah, backup your messages if you want them and hard reset, and id try to not let messages get higer than 15000, just so the phone has space to breathe
I have the same problem with msgs that return mysteriously on my ATT tilt running the factory (att) default rom. The first time I tried it I had around 5000 msgs and I ended up having to hard reset. Right now I have around 15,000 msgs and still have the same problem (obviously haha). I'm probably gonna upgrade my rom anyway, but I just figured I'd let you know you're not the only one (and not crazy haha).

I hope someone can help me with this before I go stark, raving mad.
I tried to search for this problem but it's hard to know just what to search for. I don't think this is Raphael specific but was unable to find a general software forum.
When an alarm or reminder goes off on my Fuze, I don't (usually) get the normal popup dialog. To get it, I need to tap on two tiny icons, which is a major pain. I've been fighting this for months. I've tried a hard reset followed by installing my software a programs one at a time with an alarm test after each install. I've tried restoring several old backups. I've still been unsuccessful in tracking it down.
After a hard reset, it works like it's supposed to, but as I continue to install software and use the device, it eventually stops working.
Can anyone give me a hint as to where I might be able to begin looking?
Thank you in advance!
Not a single reply. :-( Am I really the only person who has experienced this?
I've been fighting with this problem for literally months. I just recently went through several hard resets and restores, trying to find some specific application or condition that causes the problem. It started happening again a couple of days ago, and I'm absolutely sure that this time I had not installed any new applications. The only change from the time that reminders were working properly to the time that they stopped working was that I had downloaded some applications data (email, etc.).
If anybody has any ideas at all, I will be forever indebted.
Thanks,
Keith
I have the same problem, I think. I will go into my settings and tell it to give me pop ups for new SMS, MMS, notifications/reminders, and then they stop happening and I go back into settings and have to recheck the boxes. I'm not sure what's causing them to quit though. I just flashed a cooked ROM to my phone, but I don't like it so I'm trying to find something new. The problem was on the factory ROM that came with my phone.
I have the same issue, im using the ROMeOS 6.5 ROM and i dont get notification too...
gonna try and fiddle around the advanced config app
Hi guys,
I have a major problem with my phone, I thought this was down to a certain ROM I was using but it happens no matter what I use.
Currently Im on Cyans latest, my phone keeps resending old text messages, the last one was at 6.30 this morning and it resent 2 texts that I sent yesterday. I dont get any notification this is happening and I have no idea why either.
As far as I know it has only started happening in the last 2 weeks, I have flashed countless different ROMs over the last 6 months so im pretty sure it's not because I have screwed something up in the process, could this possibly be a hardware issue as this happens accross many different roms, cyans, kings hero, mligns...
We seem to be able to fix anything, so does anybody have any ideas at all? I am really reluctant to unroot and try sending back to T-Mo for repair.
Thanks in advance for your help.
bump.......
Do you have it checked so you get delivery reports?
This happens to me sometimes. The message gets sent, but on the delivery report, it still shows pending. A few hours later, the message gets sent again, because as far as the phone knows, it is still pending. This usually happens when I restart my phone or something.
Usually, when it's pending, the message never gets sent, and it tells me the delivery failed. On occasion though, the same thing happens to me as well.
My suggestion is to turn on your delivery reports if you do not already, and monitor them and see if that is what is happening.
As for a solution, I just dealt with it because it doesn't happen often enough for it to bother me or the person that gets it twice. I did however see that if i reformat my sd card before every flash, especially if coming from a different rom, this does not happen. I am currently running Cyanogen's 4.2.5
Yeah, but mine sent a bunch more. I had delivery reports on, too. I just deleted the thread as soon as I was made aware (I have SMS backup and had just flashed to 4.2.5).
I'm back on 4.2.3.1 and reinstalled Handcent. I haven't had the problem since. There was an awful lot of very distressed discussion about 4.2.5 for everyone to ba accepting it as completely stable. Yes, it seems like it works for a lot of people, but it really, really doesn't work for enough folks. I"m not risking it.
Thanks for your input guys.
For a while now, I have been getting the notifications that I have an MMS message received. But when I go to retrieve it (through the notification dropdown) it just takes me to my messaging and it shows nothing new. Doesn't even show me who the message was from so I can maybe let them know I didn't get it.
Anyone else had this problem before or know how to fix it?
No one has approached me saying "hey, did u get my pic message" so it probably was just joke stuff that dint really matter, but it's still annoying not knowing what was sent. It's like the message just disappeared or something.
I remember it working just fine before rooting my phone 2 months ago.
I am currently running SuperD 1.93 but it has been happening since I first rooted, in which my first rom was CM 4.12.xxx
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Well, isn't a fix, but have you sat down with a friend and got them to text you to make sure? You might just be getting the random notification, but no actual text. I know if this was happening to me I would rather get a random notification rather than actually missing out on a text. Also, it would be nice to know which way to address this issue.

Have you tried Setting>Applications(sort all)>Messaging>Clear data?

I had a friend text me "im about to send u a picture" and got the notification, but the pic never appeared so I do not believe it is a false notice. It doesnt happen often either.

I've never tried that, but I will now. But I have wiped and reflashed my roms plenty of times, wouldn't that clear all the data anyway?
Last time I wiped and reflashed was less than a week ago...

I would guess it would, who knows, I had a ghost Gmail for weeks...
Ok so clearing the message data did not help. I sat next to a friend trying to send me a pic and it would show "Unknown: MMS Received"....I'm so lost as to what to do
bumping this as I've tried lots of things, and get this error myself too. I can at least send picture messages again, but I still can't receive.
Have you called t-mobile? I had the same problem and I tried everything. Decided to give them a call just as a last option and it was on there end.
And since you just rooted and it's happened only since you rooted I would go over everything you did.
