yes. Just flash to different rom.
And rub-off the faceplate decal with a cube of sugar.
believe it or not, but i wasnt able to rub off the faceplate decal with a sugar cube, used 3 sugar cubes, i did it as hard as i could too and it didnt rub off

If its plastic it won't rub off, from what I know only the T-Mobile version that has the aluminium faceplate will rub off. Rubing it in the direction of the vein ...thats up and down motions. (I did this and can confirm it works.)

Now that i un AT&T'ed my Tilt, I am wondering if there is a save/easy way to remove the A&T logo from the top right corner of the phone.
Any tips or suggestions?
Pure alcohol with some cotton wiper should do it. Just be careful
Is it really worth it? I wouldn't want to risk damaging my phone cosmetically for something that barely affects the look of the phone.

I've heard using a sugar cube works, since the sugar is tougher than the material printed, but will not scratch the metal. Does NOT work on plastic.

sugar cube does work, but beware, most phone has a clear coat over the metal, so when u scratch off the logo, and go thru that clear coat, you will see a slight difference... I tried the sugar cube on my T-Mob Dash aka HTC s620, and honestly I regretted it afterwards. I'm sure on the tilt, since the metal is darker, its gonna look horrible when you try to take off the logo.
if u want tho, u can get a OEM housing for the kaiser/tytnII on ebay, it has a hole for the front camera module, but oh well, no logo on em
Just be patient. Mine is starting to rub off. the (logo)HTC only has most of the (logo) half an H and the top of the T left.
haha, the htc logo on the front of my kaiser rubbed off in my pocket over the course of 2 weeks. what little was left came off with my fingernail...

Has anyone tried to remove the silver AT&T logo from behind the glass? Thinking about giving it a go but thought I would check to see if anyone else had given it a shot and had any pointers.

i take no responsibilty for this, but I used paint thinner(gun wash actually seeing as I work at a paint shop lol) and rubbed it off my old phone, quite easily actually.
I personally would try that before spray paint...
Get a cover that covers it
U can't see the logo this way, and u r still covered by warranty just in case.
Be careful with 'paint thinner', there is more than one kind. I'd start with rubbing alcohol, then acetone, progress to mineral spirits, then if that doesn't work try some MEK(methyl ethyl ketone). You can quickly melt away any plastics or finishes if you use too strong a product first time out.
hey, i was wondering if any one was successful in removing their engravings off the back of the nexus one..... i bought mine cheap second hand, but i can't seem to get the engravings off... thanks!
Maybe if you look up in the dictionary of what "engrave" means you'll find your answer. Then again is it possible to un-grave something? Put a cute little sticker over it or something.

let it dry
sand down the filler until it's flush with the rest of the phone
wipe off with a wet rag (let dry after)
paint
depending on your painting skills you can make it look halfway decent. You won't make it like new though. The only way to make it not like terrible would be to paint the entire part of the phone where it is engraved. Since the engravings are on the chrome, looks like a whole body job to me.

sorry, engrave may not be the correct word to use. this is probably laser etching. i'm talking about the etching that google did for people who wanted to customize their phones.

i did google and i tried that already. didn't even scratch the surface. and the surface is not chrome, its anodized aluminum. which is a pain in the butt to work with...

i tried the sugar cubes, but i believe thats only for silkscreened logos. i doubt either of these will be able to get the laser etched letterings. thanks though.

The engraving isn't on the back cover, it's on the metal chassis.

Sure you can, but they're not cheap, and I suspect it's a fair bit of work to swap the parts over.
First, it is important to note that the "engraving" is NOT actually engraved in, as some people here seem to believe.
It is merely silk-screened on.
As for removing it, I would suggest a mild abrasive, like tooth paste, and rubbing it with a cotton cloth... it will probably take a lot of elbow grease, but it should work!*

my bad. If you scratch it with your fingernail, can you feel a groove?

can't say its silkscreen for sure. i took a look under the microscope and its retains the same texture as the rest of the aluminum... silkscreened letterings SHOULD have a different, smooth texture.

yeah i do feel a slight bump. so i'm led to think its silkscreen or laser etched, leaning more towards laser etching... which means im stuck.

i think i may actually do this in the end. i was suggested to use "contact cleaner" as it deoxides materials... but thats precisely what anodized aluminum is... a thicker layer of colored aluminum oxide. it may just strip it all down to the bare aluminum... argh thinking out loud.
I have heard from someone who have tried the same thing known as Contact Cleaner. Haven't tried personally so can't say for certain but hey, what's the harm in trying it out? I don't have any personalization otherwise would have tried it out.

really. contact cleaner can really get the thing off? i should try and get my hands on some then, rather than spending $60+ for a new housing. was thinking of sand blasting the whole thing too... and painting it all back. lol. all black nexus.......

Please don't do this.
just sand down the aluminum until it is flush with the rest of it, then use different grades of paper until it is smooth
I don't exactly know how close to perfect you can make it, but it's better then sandblasting it.

I am 99% sure it is silk-screened on, in a similar manner to the Google and HTC logos on the back.

i sure hope so. i think im gonna try the contact cleaner stuff thats been mentioned. while i have my doubts.... i guess i'll just give it a shot. anyone know what removes silk screening?
I think you would damage the surface of you phone.
Put a sticker over it instead.
Anyone else who goes caseless have their white plastic bands on the back get dirty? If so what did you use to clean it?

Another person said rubbing alcohol for tough spot haven't tried it but it's generally safe for plastic as it comes in a plastic bottle!
I used a q-tip and pulled all the cotton off so I just had the hard stick, then dipped the tip of that in rubbing alcohol and that let my apply pressure and get it looking perfect again.
But my job gets a lot of oil on my hands so it could depend on what you think is building up on it, for instance that wouldn't work as well for an architect who got a lot of graphite on it...
A small amount of 409 cleaner on a rag works amazingly.

Hey guys and gals, I've got a midnight blue nexus 6 and I've noticed that the back of it is really bad for holding oily residue and finger prints. Does anyone know what we can use to clean it?? I want to keep my device as good as new, I was thinking about getting a clear skin BUT I wasn't sure if the adhesive could ruin the back!? HELP!

Before my phone came in, I heard the back was prone to fingerprints and oil. So as soon as my phone came, the first thing I did was put my dbrand skin on the back. No fingerprints, no oil.
The adhesive from the skin will not ruin the device, I looked into this a lot before my purchase. When you take the skin off, there will be zero trace of any adhesive. Its a special thing used, I forgot what's its called.

It shouldn't...
As long as you use the alcohol you can buy at the pharmacy... Its been slightly diluted to keep from burning your skin...
Do not use acetone, lacquer thinner, or nail polish remover
I search the forums and realize there already is a thread on this so I wouldn't create a second thread.
