if you open the back battery cover you can see a large plug below the battery the addon uses that, but you cannot mob the pda yourself.

Using the Diamond as an external GPS device for my laptop??

Is it possible to use the Diamond as an external GPS device for my laptop, when I'm on the go? This would be great, since I am about to purchase a small netbook, and would like to do this instead of using the phone as a navigation. Also, in the upcoming months, I plan on removing the stereo from my car and installing a "Carputer" in-dash. It would be nice to use my phone as the GPS device for this application as well.
Thanks in advance!
the program is called gps2blue
and does just that
How do we find that?

Try Shake and Save, it's a funny app taking screenshots of your device when you shake it be careful not to throw it out of the window
here: http://www.extreme-apps.com/ShakeAndSaveHome.php
You use My Mobiler (which is remote control software) from your computer
http://www.mymobiler.com/
Or you can use this:
Isn't such a tool already in?

[Q] Change Screen Resolution on Alpine NVE-300p ?

Hi,
i have a Alpine Navigation System with Windows CE 5.x and i like to change the Screenresolution for 800x600. I know that the Monitor support this resolution over the Alpine connector and a firmware is available on the Alpine Homepage.
In mp3car users build a interface on this connector for show the resolution 800x600 without scaling. For now the original Alpine-System scale the resolution and this doesn't looks nice.
did anyone have a idea for modification this firmware with this feature?
kind regards
ju
I don't believe you'll have any luck finding roms at xda for anything other than HTC devices (and a few miscellaneous like the SE Xperia phones).
Meanwhile you could try this.
PS: For such devices you should check GpsPassion
This doesn't work.
For now the Austalien people and the germany's has updates for this Navigation Unit.
Germany
Australia
the fileliste looks like that on every update:
Code:
Alpine->... iGo Files
M3\chain.bin
M3\NK.bin
M3\chain.lst
M3\TINYNK.bin
M3\BlackBirdAUTORUN.inf
M3\SystemReboot.exe
is there a way to modify this bin files for got the full access to the internal memory?

I'm very eager to open it and check the connection/s but still hoping that it's just a radio problem, tried changing to other versions.. right now radio-1.65.16.25 is installed on my device.. is there a way to find out what's the original radio for my TyTN-II? p/n= 99HCY140-00. thanks.. hope we can figure this one out..
I can confirm ear piece does not have any cable. Maybe is just poor contact after all the years. Just a simple contact cleaning may just do if you are taking it apart DIY with reference to the service manual.

RS232 Interface to control hardware?

Hello!
I have a piece hardware which can be controlled via a RS232 interface.
Now I want to replace my controller, a computer, through the Galaxy Tab. Is there a way to communicate from the Galaxy Tab to a RS232 interface with a normal Android App and the right connection hardware/cable?
I found the "FlexSerial" cable. Is this what I need?

I think your challenge may be more driver/software related as opposed to being hardware/cable related. If you do get the cable sorted out, getting the Tab to communicate with the RS232 cables in the right way may be tricky. The flex serial cable is certainly a start but the function you are looking for is probably very specific to the device you want to control so finding the right Android app will not be easy. Just out of curiousity, what device is it?
There is an interface for controlling devices like robots, valves, timers, etc called andruino and it had a developer kit for programming and app creating. I think it will help your project.

ADK is not an option because the controlled hardware can't be changed.
@mkhattab:
Samsung Galaxy Tab Wi-Fi (P1010)
I have planned to development the Android App myself. But I read there are no API functions for a serial interface on Android :/

Are there any APIs / functions for USB interface? I think that's more likely than RS232 and in that case you can use a converter cable provided you have the correct drivers
http://www.amazon.co.uk/USB-RS232-Converter-Cable/dp/B00077DJIQ
Hm no, or maybe it works with a Bluetooth RFCOMM socket and a dongle like http://serialio.com/products/adaptors/BlueSnapStd.php at the hardware

P.S.
I have change the post
I know Amigo, it sometimes happens to me.
I don't know anything for a fact about this subject but I will ask a question. Do you think the tab would have to be capable of going into USB host mode? Not as an external device (pc) controlling the tab but the tab controlling the external device (rs232 via USB via 30 pin proprietary Samsung data and charging port).
The second link I gave above is instructions for that. I thought the same as you, but I guess it's not what the op wants.
