Is there a cab for enabling vibrating key dialer for the Tilt? I've searched for it but I can't seem to find one. I guess vibrate and dialer are too common terms or I'm just useless at searching. Thanks in advance for any help.
This is the only one I've ever seen. It's a little util written by someone, I don't even remember where. (Otherwise I'd credit the person).
It mostly works. The only issue is the vibrate is delayed slightly, so it only vibrates if you press *deliberately* on the number. If you do a quick tap, it doesn't vibrate...
Thanks. Will give it a try.
Looks like some credit needs to go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=304767
But sounds like it was a rework of previous work so it might not be his.
Thanks for the cab file so I don't have to edit the registry every time I hard reset my machine
It's just a registry setting? Can you tell me the key and value?

This will drive me crazy. I have had the button above the volume mapped to Voice Command ever since I can remember. Now for the Tilt, it is mapped to Push to talk which I will never, ever use and the button mapping does not allow you to reassign it. Does anyone know if this is possible with any of the button manager programs? Do I need to flash the Kaiser ROM for this?
Also, the 8125 had a feature where you held this button down and it would swap the sound over to vibrate. If anyone knows how to get this working on the Kaiser, I highly recommend it. Beats having to pull the phone out of the holster/case to silence it, especially in a meeting.
Search for the answer.... It is here.
tried searching on push to talk. searching on buttons brings back a ton of results, none of which are specific to this particular problem. any suggestions on where to search and for what term or phrase?
Update, I found one... over in the hermes forum. This would be a good addition to the cab list sticky now that more folks are getting the AT&T ROM.

I'll update after I have tried it on the Tilt
PTTFix work fine per the tread reference above but even though it allows you to assign a program to press and hold, there is no program "per se" to enact the vibrate setting. I do see this option on the HTC Home Screen though so maybe it is possible to create a shortcut in the Program Files directory and call it indirectly. I'll try this later when I have some time, but if anyone else gets to it first, please do share. TIA
this will do it for you.
I was never a fan of PTT anyway... Thanks for the CAB Tim. Works like a charm. For those curious, the option to select Vibra switch will be found under Settings > Buttons. Remap Button 6 to Vibra (Switch).
Spoke too soon. The PTTFix cab showed the buttons under the setting window, but after setting them, it still brought up the PTT screen. I though perhaps it needed a soft reset, and after doing so the ability to remap the PTT button disappeared.
isdereks, did you try this on the Tilt or the Kaiser? I am thinking the latter, since the PTTFix.cab shows the PTT button as a second button 5. Perhaps this is part of the problem of why it looks like it allows the setting, but doesn't actually work.
Bummer. I am quite disappointed. On top of all the bloatware, you get a button that launches an app that immediately errors out as I am not a PTT subscriber. HTC and MS should be pissed that AT&T is making the iPhone look like a clear winner. Pretty soon Apple will be running comercials with the big bloated guy for the iPhone too.
Sorry forgot to mention that I did this on the Kaiser.
yeah the new PTTFix did not work on my tilt, but worked great on my 8525. I hope this gets updated for the tilt.

yeah tried all that and the reg settings do not stay after phone is shut down.
Worked for me. You have to read the whole post.
For my own purposes as well, here are the consolidated steps to take. Until someone improves on this, I keep all this stuff in a directory so I can reconfigure my device as necessary. Here goes...
I think the trick is the PTT settings take precedence when the device boots up so delete the PTT registry settings under HKLM/Services/PTT. Delete the whole sub tree, then
From HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys
Add a new key called "40C6"
Add a string under the key called "Name" with the value "Button 6"
Add a new key called "40C7"
Add a string under this key called "Name" with the value "Button 6 (hold)"
(Note, do not enter the quotes, thare are to delimit what belongs in the registry entry)
Go to the Buttons settings and assign a program to the new entries. I di Voice Dial and Vibra (Switch) from the link earlier in the this post.
Do a soft reset which will remove the PTT settings from the buffer and enable your key changes.
Thanks for all the help.
I'd say the only caveat is if you some day want to use the PTT features, it would be a good idea to take an inventory fo what is under the PTT node in the registry.
It worked "GREAT". Thanks and so easy even I could do it
Instead of deleting the "PTT" key, i suggest simply renaming it to "PTTbak". That way you can just rename it back to "PTT" if you ever need to use it.
Thats what i did, and it works fine.
BTW, excellent work everyone. After upgrading to the tilt from the 8525 i lost 2 side buttons (comm manager button and the PTT button)... now i've got at least one back!
Maybe someone could offer a suggestion. For the life of me, I cannot get the reg entries of 40C6 and 40C7 to stick. I am using PHM Registry Editor. I am powering down and back up. Anyone have any suggestions?

did you delete the ptt key? (or at least rename as was suggested above?)
if you did try using the phone for while after you make the registry changes - run some other programs - then power down
greg
Greg, I renamed it and then nothing would happen. no button map and no PTT action. I am about ready to give up. But I will try your suggestions. Thanks.
NOw I got the PTT action back (the PTT screen pops up) but I cannot get the the button to do anything. I made the hold vibra and the direct push VC. Now nothing happens. Not sure what I did wrong. Not a noob at reg edits and I don't see anything wrong.
Oh well, not that big a deal, but am still open for more suggestions.
i tried renaming the PTT registry key and it didnt work. actually deleting it worked.
REG PTT
After doing the reg posted above the PTT button is free but you will notice after you push it, before the new app assigned to it pops up you will see the ptt screen for a second. What if the phone things you are using the ptt function and not Voice command or Viigo like I am?
Is there a .cab file or registry tweak to enable the screen to vibrate everytime you tap it? (for example: when you tap on a program to open it?)
that's a feature a lot of people are looking for like on the verizon voyager, haptic feedback or whatever it's called. currently there isnt something like that for ours. there is a cab to have vibrate when dial a number to call. but nothing outside of that.
do a search and you may find more answers. a few days ago someone posted a thread exactly like this.
I got a warranty replacement Tilt last week. On my new device, I get no sounds or vibrations when entering numbers on the telephone dialer. My last Tilt used to make a sound as I entered numbers. I have Kaiser Tweak installed, but get nothing whether I set dialer button behavior to tones or vibrate. Any suggestions? I went to Sounds & Notifications and enabled sounds for Screen Taps and Hard Buttons, with still no change for the phone dialer.
did you try searching??
try these keywords:
- keypad vibrate
- keypad sound
and see if there is solution for your problem.
i guess there is, so i would suggest to use search in the future.

thanks, I had found the vibrate thread, but that wasn't what I was looking for. My search did not turn up the dialpad sound fix cab.
there is more than this one thread regarding vibrating dialpad. if this is not what you was looking for, than you could explain what you need in more details. link to sound fix was in keypad vibrate thread. please try searching. but for real this time. you can't expect to find solution with two clicks, you will need some time for serious customization of your phone.
Hi,
I've been looking for the answer but couldn't find any. This is very annoying for me.I use S2u2 and when I pick up an incoming call with a button or slider after the call the dialer is still on and Phone locks automatically(with dialer on). I have to unlock S2U2 close dialer and lock the phone again- this drives me crazy. Any solution will be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help with this...

Me too..
But still no solution..
Yeah it annoys me too. I use S2U2 as well and I hate that both the dialer and the contact list don't close after I made a call or receive one. The registry solution from the other thread doesn't work with the TF3D dialer.

Have you tried Advanced Config > Phone > End Call Delay? I haven't myself so I don't know if it's the time it takes to disconnect the call or the time it takes to close the dialer. Worth a try.
No, that's the time it takes for the phone to end your call after pressing the end-call button. Which is ridiculous, when I press the button I want to end it immediately .
I agree. Of what purpose could it possibly be to delay the end of the call?!? I mean if you could recover from accidentally hitting the end key that would be one thing. But you can't so any delay is just plain stupid AFAICT.
You can also use Advanced Config to turn off the silly animations and sounds at start up or shutdown. They also do little else but make start up and shutdown longer...
I've switched to the WM default dialer now, as was suggested in this thread, let's see if it it works for me. I liked the HTC dialer though .

I've also tried that and it works but that's not a solution.WMs dialer sucks, keys are small and poor responsible for touch.Anyway I don't like WMs dialer. I don't understand why this reg tweak works with some roms but with some doesn't ;/. Hope it will be fixed in next official rom or somebody from XDA will find a solution for this annoying issue. As U guys sad when I press end button i wanna end immediately ,not in 5 sec!.
I now use the phonecanvas cab for my Diamond, so I don't have to use S2U2 anymore. But I believe this only works with the HTC dialer.
So does anyone have a solution for this problem? I really need it
Good day, new here and hoping someone can assist with a question I am unable to find an answer for. I have a touch pro on the Sprint network, I have not cracked it or done much to this phone as I am still very new to this device (retired my Moto Q). The only customization I have done thus far is instal the transparent flip clock.
What I am hoping to do is edit the tone my keypad makes when using the TP as a phone. Right now the only options available when having the phones keypad up under menu>options> keypad is Off, Long tones, and Short tones. What i would like to do is make it more costum, perhaps by using the 'clicking' sound the new BB Storm makes when pressing, really anything but that annoying standard 'beep' or nothing at all.
Sorry if I missed something in the search or wiki, I did look but nothing doing.
Thanks in advance!

search in the reg under HKCU\controlpanel\sounds i think if no luck just search the reg for sounds folder. hope this helps
thanks for your response, i did find the keys, however they can only be changed to another numeric character. The keys are labeled Dtmf0, Dtmf1, Dtmf2, etc for each key. I verified this by changing some of them. So you can set the keys to make the seperate tones, such as making them all sound like your dialing '1', or make '9' have the '2' tone, etc, but I cant find a way to make it use a sound file, any advice? Hope I was clear enough on this.
Thanks again
