I've been using my Tilt for about 6 weeks now and twice have I hit "delete all" when I tried to hit "mark all as read." (from the Menu)
Not only does it delete the items off the device, but also the copy off my server. This is really frustrating.
Any way to change this to something else? (just Delete) (or remove it entirely)?
Absent any way to do this, I'll be forced to use the D-pad as apparently my fingers are too fat to "mark all as read" safely.
Thanks.
Robert
I'm not sure if this applies to the Tilt, because I don't know if the "Delete All" option came standard or if it has to be installed via the SDK example cab that everyone uses that adds both "Mark All as Read" and "Delete All" to the POutlook context menu.
So... try this at your own risk. It works for me on my Treo 750w with the Inbox Extender cab installed. Browse to Program Files/InboxExtender on your device and replace the existing InboxMenuExtensibility.dll with the one in the attached ZIP file. It removes the "Delete All" option entirely but leaves "Mark All as Read".

Greets,
I use Eudora on my main system, and would like to keep that as my master email program. During my work day, I use a program which does not impact the email on the server (so that it is still there when I get home). Many programs do this on the PC including MailWasher and Magic Mail Monitor.
I would like to be able to check my POP3 email accounts on my Tilt, but not affect the existence of the email on the server or change from Eudora.
Thanks!
The standard (preinstalled) Messaging program can do just that. When you configure your account make sure to select "Advanced Settings" and select "Keep them on the server".

You don't need to do so - unless you delete stuff by hand.
BTW, make sure you read my Mailer Bible in the Wiki; it thoroughly compares all mailer clients for Windows Mobile.

I have also been looking for a good email program. Whatever you do dont waste your time on Flexmail. Endless troubles. I have reverted to the built in email and messaging program which comes with WM6 untill something else comes up.
Hi,
Whenever I delete any message from the TF3D screen using the right soft key options Menu>Delete, it gets deleted permanently from the device(does not show up even in the "Deleted Items" of the Messaging Folders. Although it asks for the confirmation first, but wouldn't it have been better if the message went into the deleted items folder first?(just the way it happens in Messaging)
Any way to make TF3D Delete option behave like the delete option of the Messaging application?
Thanks.
I have noticed the same on my phone, but didn't realise it was related to deleting via TF3D. Have you found a solution yet?
No...no solutions yet.
Still no solutions to this, as this is driving me mad.
I like to keep my Inbox 'clean' and sometimes delete to quickly but go to deleted items to recover the message. This doesn't happen anymore, so once it's gone, it's gone.
Anyone know of a tweak?
I solved this by changing my active sync settings...I made it so reconcillation did not keep changes on my phone...only allows deleion on my computer microsoft server owA account
Is this the same for SMS, as this is what I'm referring to. Apologies for not be clear first time around.
go into advance config and under the MESSAGING tab, make sure "Max deleted SMS" is not set to 0. If it is, everything you delete will be deleted permanently and will not be in the deleted items box. It's funny because I hate having to empty out the deleted items box everytime i delete a text...i want it to be gone immediately.
For emails if you go to Tools - Options - Storage tab just change the 'Empty deleted items' to 'manually' then I presume you should be able to do it from your PC.
If that doesn't work on its own then also add 'deleted items' as a sync folder (menu - Tools - Manage Folders) so then should definitely work...
I made a typo when addressing an email and that "bad" address keeps popping up when I start a new email. Ho can I remove it? I tried long pressing and hoping for a "delete" button but no luck there.
More info in case that isn't enough of a description: I am running CM7. It happens on all three of my email accounts. I begin to type a new email address in the "To:" line and the address with the typo pops up as a choice along with other "good" addresses.
TIA for any assistance.

Thanks for trying to help, neidlinger but I do not have any contacts (I know that sounds odd but I don't use my Nook for email very much. I use my phone and desktop (both Windows)
Any other ideas?
How about delete account and re enter?
I have three email accounts on the Nook and when I start a new email in any one of them, the email address with the typo pops up with the "good" email address (I hit a k by mistake after .com one time and the Nook remembers it). I have no names or email addresses in the default contacts app (haven't put any in yet). Does anyone know where the "auto fill" emails are stored on the Nook?
thanks for trying to help, life64x
Sounds like a user dictionary issue. You can find it in settings.
I don't have my nook at the moment, lent it to my other half for the weekend and didn't get it back yet. Muck around in the settings menus until you find it, or someone else comes in to tell you exactly how to get to it.
Sorry I can't be more precise then that.
Thanks for your suggestoin, Blue6IX. I went through the Settings and found "User dictionary" under "Language & Keyboard Settings" but no luck: it says "you do not have any words in the user dictionary".
Any other ideas?
I found an answer after googling various terms. Even though I did not have any contacts on my Nook (nor in my google gmail account). I did have the setting "Sync Gmail" checked in "Accounts & Sync Settings". When I went to my gmail account on my desktop I saw the typo listed not in "My Contacts" but under "Call Phone". I deleted that entry by clicking on "More" then "Contact Details" then "More actions" then "Delete". I synced my Nook (the typo was removed at that point).
Maybe this will help someone else (?)
HELP !!!
i am a new android user, came for iOS
i want a free way to transfer my over 300 notes :crying: to my new hTc one android 4.2.2 ?
N.B: the notes are also stored on outlook on my PC
i found a way to transfer the notes to .txt
using this method:
Export Outlook Notes to Document Files
There are a lot of people who want a free way to export their Outlook notes to separate document files. Here is a step by step method of exporting those notes. It may seem tricky, but it really is simple and should take all of 5 minutes to complete. The actual export happens so quickly you will be astonished. The notes will be exported into Word or text documents with the same name as the notes.
Please understand that Windows does not allow many special characters in file names, so you will need to manually remove any special characters like <.>:"/\|?* from your note name before the conversion. The following device names are also restricted from use as file names by Windows and should not be the name of a note: CON, PRN, AUX, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, and LPT9. To help you out, the code I provided will automatically replace any "/" or "\" characters with a "-". The rest is up to you to rename manually or you may alter the code to convert even more restricted characters or names.
Create a folder on the root (main part) your C: drive named "Notes". It is important that this folder be on the root of the C: drive.
Open Outlook.
After Outlook opens, click on the top bar of the Outlook window next to the name Microsoft Outlook.
Press ALT-F11 which will open Outlook's Visual Basic window. If it does not open, be sure you clicked on the top bar of the Outlook window and press ALT-F11 again.
On the top toolbar, click on Insert and Module. You should see a new window pane open labeled Project1, Module1.
Copy the code you find listed below in this article and paste it in the Module1 window pane. If you wish to export to a document that can be opened in Word (rich text format), use the NotesToRTF code. If you wish to export to text files, use the NotesToText code.
On the top toolbar, click on Run and then click on "Run Sub/Userform".
A window will pop up asking you to select the folder where your Outlook Notes are located. For most people, this will simply be your normal Outlook Notes folder. Select the Notes folder and then select OK. [More advanced users may select different note folders they may have created, following these steps over and over until all their notes are exported.]
The Notes will quickly be exported at this point. "Running" will appear next to "Microsoft Visual Basic" window name at the top of the screen and disappear when the notes are exported. You may see it flash for a second if you have just a few notes. For hundreds or thousands of notes, it will take longer. Wait for "Running" to go away and you may proceed.
Close the Microsoft Visual Basic window.
Close Outlook. You will receive a popup window asking if you want to save the VBA project. Answer No.
Look in the Notes folder on the C: drive to find your notes.
If you received a "Run time error", click End and then check the following:
Did you use a restricted character or name in a note?
Did you REALLY name the folder Notes in the ROOT of the C: drive?
Fix the folder name and then go back to the Microsoft Visual Basic window and click on Run and then "Run Sub/Userform" again.
The code is proven and should work every time when you follow the directions. If it still fails, I suspect you may have a corrupted Outlook data file. There are many Hub pages that address how to fix the problem. Simply search for "scanpst" and follow the directions listed in the page.
NotesToRTF Code
Sub NotesToRTF()
Set myNote = Application.GetNamespace("MAPI").PickFolder
For cnt = 1 To myNote.Items.Count
noteName = Replace(Replace(myNote.Items(cnt).Subject, "/", "-"), "\", "-")
myNote.Items(cnt).SaveAs "c:\notes\" & noteName & ".rtf", OlSaveAsType.olRTF
Next
End Sub
NotesToText Code:
Sub NotesToText()
Set myNote = Application.GetNamespace("MAPI").PickFolder
For cnt = 1 To myNote.Items.Count
noteName = Replace(Replace(myNote.Items(cnt).Subject, "/", "-"), "\", "-")
myNote.Items(cnt).SaveAs "c:\notes\" & noteName & ".txt", OlSaveAsType.olTXT
Next
End Sub
then i put them onto the phone and opened the notes through the phone using a file manager
if anyone has any other ideas please reply
Thanks for sharring this.
A good file manger i found and now use is called ''File Expert HD'' from Play Store.
Perhaps I'll be able to sort this one out with the group's help.
How to merge/clean/eliminate duplicate contacts under "Phone Contacts" group? Some of the contacts seems to have up to 8 entries or at least it shows 8 times. And they all have the exact information.
If I try to link them, it says "Couldn't Link Contact". Not sure what is going on here.
And to clarify, I use "Phone Contacts" & "Exchange Contacts" only. No Google nor SIM contacts. I've disabled my Exchange account trying to figure this one out, since the Exchange account it is clean and concise.
Any help would be very appreciated!
Thank you!
Okay, upon further research it seems like the best way to go is to have Google Contacts & Exchange Contacts and to drop local Phone Contacts. So I have exported Phone Contacts into vcf file and imported back into my Google account - ironically there were never any duplicates, as I suspected despite the phone showing repeated entries. but this puzzle is beyond my level.
In any case, now I need to globally delete all 850 contact entries I have under "Phone Contacts". I can't seem to find a "Delete All" or "Select All" option to delete local contacts saved on the phone.
Am I missing something here?
TIA!
This keeps on getting better!
Tried following multiple Android forums about simply deleting "Contact" app cache & memory to realize they were referring to "Contacts Storage" app and not the "Contacts" app. Apparently this Sony only gives us access to the Contact app with the Contact Storage app not being visible.
Really? Do I need to wipe the entire phone to simply erase contacts saved on the phone? Even my freakin old Symbian phone had the option to select all contacts...
I also tried in vain to install the useless Sony Companion software but of course, no access to any contacts thru that.
Arghhhh!!!
