Hey, I'm looking for the best remote control software to use on the kaiser. (to control your desktop pc from ppc)
Any suggestions?
I use https://secure.logmein.com/home.asp
It works a treat and it's free.
Yes, another vote for LogMeIn Free.
Also check out http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Access your desktop PC from your Pocket PC! for more info, it explains everything
And yess, another one goes fo rlogmein...
great solution !!
my only problem with logmein is when I log in with PIE sometimes i have to enter my user name and PW about 40-50 times until it logs me in. it keeps throwing me back to the login screen without any message why. i posted a logmein tech support and no response. I tried this on different browsers (PIE/opera/webfront) and got the same results.
other than that, logmein is great.
real vnc enteprise, and realvnc mobile.
connect to REMOTELY with wifi, I use this for everything (IM, Downloads, Etc)
takes little experience to set up, pretty straight forward

If you REALLY want to go the VNC way, use PT Pocket Office instead. It uses way lessbandwidth and is way better.

You can also use terminal services which comes preinstalled
Mocha Remote CLient Supports remote desktop and provides compression its 20 dollars so its not free but it works really really well.
VNC
Will this work over gprs??
Yes, Slow, but yes it will
vnc
sweet ok ill see if i can get it to run now.
ok well i installed vnc how do i get it to conect i see it needs a server ip i have this but its the next bit im missing as it shows 192.168.2.10:0 as an example ill use that as mine
i know my ip its the bit after the : i dont know so i have 192.168.2.10:?
what am i missing??
ok figured that out it was my conection port. DERRRR!!!!
the thing is this only works when i have the wizard plugged in to my pc via active sync. when its not it just leaves the program. not like when the conection fails and the little menu flashs up and then pops off, just closes
Any ideas???
Goto logmein.com and register for a free account.
Then log in on your wizard.
No brainer to setup.
I did search for this, but it returned no results...
Is there a VNC client I can use on my XDA to let me control and/or view my PC screen via bluetooth?
Thanks for any helpful replies. ^_^
EDIT:
Really, nothing?
I'll take unhelpful replies at this point.
As far as I know, there's never been a PPC version of any VNC client (as there's several flavours of VNC, the original RealVNC, TightVNC, WinVNC...) - I just don't think that your average PDA would be up to the job of rendering and processing all the data, plus the issues of converting keypresses, a mouse which doesn't exist (how do you convert the button presses?) and the sheer amount of CPU and graphical horsepower VNC needs I think would just overpower a PPC.
However, I might be wrong. I've never come across a VNC client though for a PPC device, I think there might be a PPC / PDA Terminal Services client but of course now you're talking Windows.
Thanks for the reply.
There go my evil plans to use my pc all over the house.
VNC client
http://www.freewareppc.com/docs/vncviewerforpocketpc.shtml
VNC Viewer for Pocket PC v3.3.5.1
I recently re-downloaded the PPC (had it for Palm ages ago) version of Pebbles (google it) and although it doesn't have bluetooth connection and doesn't do a true rendering of the PC's display - it takes a screenshot at set intervals I think - it CAN access the PC via WiFi, which is cool.
Functions are limited but as far as I know it's still an ongoing project.
VNC Client
Here's a good VNC client and it works with WM5... http://www.mochasoft.dk/vncce.htm
well bugger me sideways, i reply with a 'i don't think there's any vnc clients for ppc' and all the people who know of some come out the woodwork!
LoL I was thinking the same thing, christopherwoods.
I know this is un-related but, you mentioned WM5 choycm, and I was reading a topic in the updates section about it not being on Alpine/XDA2i, is that still the case?
Thanks for the links everyone.

Well, I tested it on the Dopod 900 aka Universal... And it works perfectly.
As has been previously discussed on XDADev, whilst the 2 and the 2i may look pretty much identical the 2i's hardware is quite different from that of the 2 - and unfortunately, the 2i (the Alpine)'s hardware doesn't support WM5.
The beta version of "Real" VNC is here http://www.realvnc.com/products/beta/ce/. I've been using 4.1beta2 for a while. Works for me.
Does anyone know of a VNC Client that will let you transfer files from the server to the phone and vice versa?
I've got a little different problem
is there a possibility to see PPC's screen on PC?
cause my alpine has broken LCD :/
i found this thread by searching for "battery remaining 10%". (does anyone know where I can find the 10% interval battery meter fix??) I Dont know how i ended up here .. but I had a question
Why not use microsoft's RDP? Its built into every winxp pro computer, and I find it works great on WM6. I just cant find a viewer that works as well for use on WM5. Anyone here use RDP instead of VNC (and know a good ppc client for wm5?)
not eveyone uses windows...vnc is multi platform. rdp is great for windows however!
I've always used MochaVNC, awesome, easy to use app.
Hi there,
i have installed Finster869's WM6_RemoteDesktop.cab, which is available somewhere in the forum here.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to set some advanced options, which are normally shown in the regular remote desktop application for Windows Desktop OS's?
- Display: Remote Desktop Size
- Experience (Desktop background, Menu animation, themes)
Thanks
Chris
I'm curious how to set these too. 640x480 seems to get forced when I connect, making Outlook unusable.
Yeah, me too. There's a file default.rdp where you can amend the value of the resolution but somehow it doesnt take effect.
I end up using VNC Viewer though.
Hi, if there's just another Remote Desktop Client allowing to fit my needs - I'd use it.
What are the best Clients (also commercial)? Where can I get that VNC Viewer?
Chris

Got another question though - Is it possible to connect to a WM2003 server console through Finster869's RDP client?
Logmein
Another option is logmein free. They have a plugin for WM that works on the Kaiser I have from ATT. Allows me to set resloution, screen size, etc, and it's free.
im too looking for a way to get remote desktop mobile to set a custom resolution
because in small resolution on wm6 rdm it just hard for me to navigate stuff.
can someone find a hack for this please.. dear hackers out there thanks.
Need a little help here....i've 4 computers in the house and it's all running VNC Server Enterprise Edition 4.2.2. I've downloaded VNC Viewer from the link above and run it on my Kaiser but when try to connect, it says "Unable to connect to the specified server!". I'm not sure what to set as i'm just bad with these network stuff.
Assuming i want to connect to my computer A name "Desktop". I would assume i just input the name Desktop to "Server" in the program and put in the password right? Or am i just so lost
Hope somebody can kindly guide me on this. Appreciate it.
Anybody? Would love to get it working in my TyTN II & i have up to 4 computers to remote into
Are you trying to get into them from the Internet or are you on your WiFi network?
If you are on your WiFi you will need to know the IP address of the machine you are connecting to unless you have DNS setup internally. Not sure if WM6 by default will detect Windows names.
If you are coming from the Internet then you will need to port forward your to each of your machines.
Guys, as usual, Wiki is your best friend. Do search it before asking - I've answered almost all the questions asked in this thread in the Remote Desktop Access Bible at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Access your desktop PC from your Pocket PC!
To make it short, in the Comparison Chart ( http://www.winmobiletech.com/122006PPCPCRemoteControl/PPC2PCRemoteRoundupTable.htm ), it's the "Resolution, zoom, color" group that you must check out; most importantly, the first ("Remote desktop resolution?") and the fifth ("Remote desktop resolution settable?") row. The latter even shows how you can actively change the resolution from the client.

Well....i would want to get connected via Home WiFi first. All the 4 computers are connected to the same router. I've tried putting in the computer IP address (ie: 192.168.1.101::5900) but it still says not able to connect. the ::5900 seem to be added in on it's own.

1, welcome to XDA-Devs
2, you mean is the address, your name / password saved? All of them, as is also explained in the chart of the Bible (did you check it out?????), in the "Login: l/p credentials definable, used (with RDP clients) and remembered? – an advantage particularly with RDP-based clients" and the "Server IP’s remembered?".
Please DO spend some time reading these Bibles / charts before asking questions!
no, sorry for the bad english. I mean, what about the security of the connection. Via PC i use a ipsec connection. When I use a normal connection it is possible to trace my login data and to get access to my server for other people.

RDP is a safe protocol - no cleartext passwords are communicated. BTW, you can also run RDP over a VPN connection to maximize safety.

Is it possible to connect 2 tilts via remote desktop that are not close together ?
Directly? Not that I'm aware of - however if you can remote to a PC that the Tilt is connected to, you can run the remote view software and see what's going on on the Tilt on the remote PC screen.
Look into a free software called Hamachi - it's a nice virtual networking tool. They make it for Windows Mobile as well as Mac and PC. I can remote desktop into my PC from my phone, never tried vice-versa. I have no idea if they have a remote desktop server for WiMo, but if they do Hamachi will allow you to be on a virtual network.
Hamachi is a VPN product of www.Logmein.com , which is what I think you were referring to. Logmein has a free version to remote into your PC from a WinMo device, but does not control a WinMo device. I thought I saw something like that though on Gizmodo during CES try searching there.
Pocket Controller Professional can connect to your PPC from your desktop via 3G or WIFI. It shows the actual screen on your desktop & is pretty slick. It takes a bit of work getting it going through the 3G/Edge/Gprs Connection though. Also, it doesn't allow for file transfer. Only controlling/viewing.

Hey thanks that works pretty cool.
I had dad's tilt on line last night helping him set it up.
I have serched high and low. I was wondering if there was anyway to get Microsoft Access onto my Fuze. I have a biz that runs on Access, it would be helpful if i could have it with me at all times instead of having to carry a laptop everywhere i go.
I don't think such a program exists. I'm assuming that your Access stuff is a full application with forms, etc? You can probably use something like this --> http://www.handster.com/programs.php?id=2906&for=Pocket PC mdb to update the tables, but I can't see it running reports, etc.
If you have a decent data plan, then one option is to run Remote Desktop to a PC back at base running the Access Application. I've got a Virtual Machine on my server which I can access from my Touch Pro. I can run any app I want on there, and as long as I don't try to do anything stupid (like play a video), then it works fine. This is the only way I could see your Access application working on your TP.
Cheers,
Steve.

I believe the client is built into the Fuze. If you have a custom ROM, just do a search. Several threads have the cab to install it on the Fuze. It has also been built into Windows since at least XP. You have to be a local admin or in the remote users group to Remote Desktop or RDP to your desktop.
