Just a quick poll... wanting to know how to take the direction of future roms
wow, 130ish views and only 10 votes... there has to be more than 10 people that have tried the new roms...
Love to try it.
Would try it but I don't want to reinstall all my appz and contacts for the new rom. Very time consuming and my build is pretty stable, have no complains for it. Unless anyone can tell me a easiler way to upgrade and have all my setting and stuff back be great.
Heard spiritbackup has the upgrade function but I don't like to use spirit backup always run into problems and it's slow. Spb backup seem so much faster and user friendly, but it doesn't have upgrade function I believe so ..?
Molski 30 MB WWE ROM
I installed this ROM yesterday, until now it works very well. I was using the KTAMAS AKU 3.2 ROM for 3 weeks, no really problem, once I did nor receive a call, and I had mybe 3 softreset.
using 2.26 tmobile rom with 20mb free after paging pool reduced. no problem so far. even restored backup seeing is similar 2.26 rom jus reduced paging pool. and now updated radio rom to 2.45. same speed as before. not fast but not slow either.
Although it's my own Rom, I don't see any difference with my previous 2.26.10.2 Rom, only difference is that I have more free RAM space!
Regards,
Molski
p.s. And I don't know how it comes that some people have trouble installing it, that it hangs at 98%, 99% or 100%. It is exact the same Rom as my other ones, only 2 numbers are edited in a .nb file with a hex-editor, nothing more, nothing less.

i have issues with my own roms doing that sometimes also... even without editing anything, just normal roms hang at different spots... its weird, it could be the pc thats hanging or waiting for the device to catch up... something
I seem to be having some biig issues with my tilt and was hoping for someone to shed some light on the situation for me, I have a tilt, now running on hyperdragon IIIr , hard spl 3.56 and a emonster radio, ever seince I've unlocked it and flashed the a rom I've ran into oone of two issues 1. rom works fine with exception to heavyish lag on typing that forces me to type slow (E.G. duttys 19716 hybrid) and I do a lot of typin so the lags is a big issue 2. running currrrently beforemention hyperdragon IIIr and emonster radio, (although I've had the issue on other radios) and it runs fine at first, I tap the power button don't use it for 20 mins or so then when it turns back on it either steps in from dark to bright and will be VERY unnresponsive like having to tap the windows button 20x times before I get one tap I've been flashing like a madman tyig tofind a rom that generaly works... PLEASE HELP
Learn to use search. I, as well as many other people, have the lag issue. It's been mentioned before.
The other issue could be either your device, ROM, or radio. Change to an official radio. If you still have the same problem, try going back to the stock ROM. If the problem continues to exist, it could be your device.
If it turns out to be the radio, simply change radios.
If it's the ROM, address it in the ROM's thread, not in a new one in a different forum.
If it's your device, you had better learn how to get it back to it's OEM state, provided you have a warranty.
Also, spacing, punctuation, and spelling tend to be helpful when seeking help. I'm not saying it has to be perfect, but it's nice for it to be understandable without having to analyze it twice.
Now, run along and play.

It almost sounds like you installed an application that is causing your device to freeze up. Also, remember to hard reset after flashing. If you can please list the applications and sips you have installed and maybe someone can point out the culprit.
trust me spelling is never normally an issue but im typng from the device, unfortunatly I don't have a home computer at the moment. I've used search, I just haven't come across anything that matched my situation, the best working rom so far was duttys apr 29 hybrid. I've done some different radios and if anyone would be able to id love to read whatever setups you guys have on your devices thatwork and whatever issues you guys may be having btw my hard spl is 3.56 as well. I mean alll I wanted was 6.1 style messaging a good strong antenna (emonster is working well) if the roms fome with extras cool, if not its all good, I just need the device to work, thanks for all you help people
and btw the issue with the major slowdown is after flash (and hard reset) when I first tap the power button to put it on my belt for later no apps installed
This will be tedious, but try going back to AT&T Stock and see if you're still having an issue with the slowdown. Also, you might want to try looking for the Tilt Keyboard fix and trying that first. I still have lag with it, but it's worth a shot before you go back to stock.
If you still have issues with the stock ROM (try the stock SPL too if you can, there's instructions for going back to OEM you can click here to see those)
If you have the issue with everything set to stock, it's your device itself. If the problem goes away after reverting to stock, then try re-doing the whole SPL and flashing process for the ROM of your choice. At that point, you may wish to consider addressing your issue in that ROM's thread.
you are a genius, i ran it from the beginning and started it from scratch, i started with a light rom the new Hyperdraggon IIIr emonster rom and then hard spl'd at 3.29 (after i did the whole re stock and unlock process) im guessing i might not have done it right from the start and or the 3.56 spl might have been the problem also but its acting sufficiently well now i will keep you guys posted thanks for the support
I have 3.56 and have no problems. I almost always use a light rom and throw EVERYTHING onto my storage card. You also might trying running Pocket Mechanic
Been following this site for weeks and it is getting more popular eacha nd every time someone buys a Diamond phone, so keep up the good work.
I have finally decided to see what I can do with mine by upgrading the ROM and I would appriciate any advice you guys can give me as i am a totally newbie.
Here are the details:
It is on T-Mobile (UK)
Version -
1.37.110.3 WWE
06/20/08
1.00.25.03
Thanks
Hello there!
Not sure what you mean by upgrading the rom? Guess you mean applying a cooked rom?
A cooked rom is one thats been customised and is flashed over the top of your current rom, in your case probably a "stock" or out of the box/factory rom.
First thing to do in your case would be to upgrade the Radio. You may well need to run the HardSPL (I needed developer edition) and then apply the radio upgrade.
From then on, its up to you which cooked rom you run as they all have advantages and disadvantages. For example, im running the Diamond TLR rom as I don't like touchflo (i think its a gimmick that slows things down - drasticaly). Using this rom i'm able to uninstall touchflo and free up significant memory. This suits me down to the ground but not those who want to use touchflo!
Take a look at the wiki (mostly) and the Rom development sub-section of this Diamond section of the forums. As long as you follow the Wiki instructions on HardSPL and then use a rom specifically for a touch diamond, you should be fine.
Be very carefull though and DOUBLE check everything, one wrong flash program and you can destroy your phone.
Have fun!
p.s. Many people think that the factory 1.37.xx roms are the most stable, even more than the later versions. I'm running a TLR based 1.37something and I am very happy with it and never have to reboot my phone.
Got it....Its all here
Hi Lats... I've tried a variety of roms on my Compact IV and I have to say, me and my colleagues at work find that Swiftblades roms are pretty much as good as they come. He's now released version 5.0 and if you're still on the original T-mobile rom, then you'll notice one hell of a difference and improvement in speed and usability.
Go for it and don't worry if your concerned about warranty, there is a stock T-mobile rom floating around on the forum and instructions on how to return your Compact IV back to it's original state.
If you find the whole rom thing confusing, then take a look at this site:- www.modmydiamond.info It'll pretty much tell you everything.
Basically though, you'll find there are 3 phases to upgrading
1) HardSPL - In laymans terms, this pretty much opens the phone up for flashing roms. Most people seem to go for and recommend using Hard-SPL 1.40 Olinex Developers Edition-Unsigned. There are consequences to using an unsigned version, it means you could in theory download and install a dodgy untested Rom, but it's up to you to go for roms on the thread from reputable guys where you can see lots of other people have installed their tried and tested roms.
Once you've done this, you'll not need to do this again.
2) The Radio - This deals with the comms side of the phone, ie phone signal strength etc etc. It's pretty much been agreed by most people that v1.00.25.05 appears to be the best of the bunch.
3) Lastly choose a rom, there are half a dozen really good roms out there and many of them are down to personal choice. Many of them are customised too much for my liking. I chose Swifts as he pretty much keeps his clean and looking like a stock rom.
You'll only have to do the Hard-SPL once and probably the radio once, unless a better radio arrives. So once you've done all this, you can keep trying different roms without the need to do the Hard-SPL and radio all over again.
Hope this clarifies things a bit for you.
Good luck and have fun!
Thanks ever so much guys. I already feel alot more confident about this. Just one question... guide suggests the following:-
Manually enter the Bootloader by pressing the Power button, Camera button and performing a soft reset at the same time
Where is the camera button and it sounds as I need 3 hands to do this!
They're refering to the main round button below your screen in the middle of the 4 buttons, and yes you need 3 hands, but you can just about do it with 2
Let us know which ROM you upgrade to - I'm on the same ROM and radio as you are. Bit nervous about flashing the rom as my last phone (Vario II/Hermes) had to go back a month after I had it due to the screen alignment issues. After the warranty expired, I was flashing daily (lol) and yes, they do make a big difference.
I've got a copy of the UK Tmobile rom from this site, but cant remember the page now or what i typed in to get it... will try again later. It's called "RUU_Victor_TMO_UK_1.37.110.3_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.26a.25.09_1.00.25.03_Ship"

Ensure you are connnected via activesync when doing any flashing, remembering to hard reset again after every flash,
Yeah, most definetly I will let you know but I think it will be over the weekend now. I had a quick attempt to get bootloader going, but it don't look easy. Phone just resets everytime and just reboots back to normal.
If anyone has any tips on which buttons I need to press first or if there is any easier way of doing this, I'm listening.

If you want to flash any ROM - you dont need to manually enter boot loader to do so...
As I mentioned before.
just make sure you have active-sync running and working and the battery id over %50 charged.
I'll be doing this tonight
The Tmobile stock rom can be found here

so my rom is stock; infact, i just got the phone. maybe three cabs. advanced config, mobile matt's theme.. .net 3.5? battery life seems like it's going to be a problem. i haven't even gotten it to say it was fully charged.. always still charging.
is it worth going to the "test" rom that we recently received? will that even improve batter life? i had a wizard for years before, and i must have flipped roms over 40 times.. and it just.. it never quite worked right the same after i started dicking with it. and i'm reading in the thread on that rom that some are going back over service issues.
opnions? any general battery life conservation methods?
Captain noob

Have you left the Fuze to charge for 5+ hours yet? If so and you can't get it to say it's fully charged, you might want to investigate it further before you start flashing, to save yourself the trouble of flashing back the stock SPL and ROM in case you want to send it back for an exchange.
You're right, the battery life sucks. In Advanced Config, under "Power Management," I have all that stuff enabled and it helps a little. I also set my screen brightness down to the lowest I can tolerate instead of using the sensor.
The radio that's in the test ROM is incredible! I first flashed that with the stock ROM and it did wonders for my battery life. As I'm sure you've read by now, GPS sucks too on stock. The radio also helps a lot with GPS, I noticed a huge difference after flashing. I highly recommend NATF's ROMs, his version 4.5 is based off the test ROM and it is incredibly fast and stable. GPS works even better when the radio is coupled with the test ROM, or any ROM based on it. Battery life is so much better now.
Links to the radio thread and NATF's ROMs are in my sig.
hey
thanks so much for your rapid response. you can say i load that radio with my stock rom? i might be interested in doing that, however; my GPS seems to work fine. no difficulties like other people say. i hate to switch to another radio and screw that up.. but you claims wonders about battery life.
i have been closely eyeing a NATF rom. i've been watchin him since he "proudly got a branded fuze" even tho i didn't have this phone till last week.
i did charge it over night last night, and it did go to 100%.. and within two hours, about 8 text messages and changing my text message sound, i'm down to 86% so anything's worth a try.
i'm just so reluctant to flash to a new rom.. i hate all the bloatware, and the different things.. but it seems once you go down that road, it's soft resets every time something goes wrong, at least once a day. and emails tryin to figure out why my MMS only works when the moon is aligned.. i'm doing this same reflash work to a 2005 mustang GT brain and same kinda things.. now the idle isn't stable, if you drive the car, cut it off, then fire it back up it's touchy to drive.. seems like every time i **** with someone, yeah it flies on that one aspect, but it ends up being like a baby, always wiping the ass.
bottom line: what do i need to only flash that radio? Hard spl?

No prob man. First thing is we gotta make sure you have a GSM phone, so hopefully you're with AT&T and have a Fuze. If you're with verison or sprint, flashing is a no go. I really don't know anything about the CDMA versions of the Raph, but the forum for those are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=465
So if you do have a GSM, awesome. If you're worried about bloat, you don't have to anymore with NATF's ROMs. His standard ROM is loaded with great utilities and tools, no bloat and has about 320MB free "Storage Space" in memory. That's huge leaps over the stock with the bloat, and stock without the bloat it still beats it by 100MB! NATF's ROMs are definitely faster than the stock and are very stable. But if you're still reluctant to flash, I don't blame you, I barely got rid of my stock ROM a month ago; I've had the Fuze since it's launch date in Nov.
Yep, HardSPL is the first step. mskip has a great guide with all the required links to get you going, follow steps 1, 2, & 5 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008
Lemme know how it works out for you.
New radio rom helps, as does switching to a ROM that doesn't load as much junk in the background. Also, do a soft reset after you run activesync on the phone - there's a lot of stuff that loads during synching that doesn't properly unload afterwards, meaning increased cpu and memory usage and thus battery.
In my opinion, i think you should get Da_G's 6.5 roms. Yes, they're beta but they run amazingly smooth, with very few glitches. and my battery life is AMAZING with them. I can go a whole day and half with a full charge as opposed to less than a day with all the other roms. and that's with constant texting and phone calls and data connection. not to mention his rom is really fast!
natf 4.5 att
i've decided around midnight i shall attempt not to brick my phone whilst flashin the natf rom. is there a link anyone could give me to a description of the rom?

Can't go wrong with his thread, it's in my sig.
Some things to keep in mind:
Don't forget to back up your PIM, I use PPCPimBackup, you can find it at d0ugie's site: http://blownfuze.org/ If you do not have threaded SMS, change that in Advanced Config after you flash, then restore your PIM. Your contacts and calendar should come back right away after the restore, but the messages take a while to rebuild, so don't touch it for at least 15 mins after the reboot.
Sprite Backup from the stock rom isn't included in NATF's, you can find it here at Da_G's rom thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446652&highlight=sprite+backup
Just to inform you guys if there are people out there like me...
I have reverted back to the Standard WM6.0 HK WWE Rom, as I have tried every single ROM availble on this forums, but nothing seemed to work 100% for me, there was always a draw back in every single ROM I have tried, except this one that I been running for the last month.
Yes it is old and outdated, but surprizingly, everything works 100%, no problems, no lock ups, no keyboard lags, battery is lasting longer etc.
So it looks a bit dull and boring, but maybe the more stuff added to the roms the more things can go wrong.
I'll be honest I appreciated everyone's efforts in creating the best ROMS available on this forum, but like I said no rom was working 100% for ME, so I'm not ungreatfull
Hopefully the ROMS made on this forums works 100% for you guys, but just thought I'd share this for the people like me. So dont flame me please
This is my little 2c contribution to the forums.
I have found mine as well: a standard WM6.1 WWE from HTC (the latest shipped rom). And as an addition: Eclair v2.0.1 . These both do almost everything I want them to .
However, I have been swithching a lot to JJblasters work as well: that works beautifull .

Never
I liked Josh's Kaiser Rom "21929 Hybrid" I was using it since it was released with NO problems. Wonderfully stable Rom, which is the only reason I waited so long to jump on the 6.5 bandwagon (as of yesterday). Glad you found something you are satisfied with, but I doubt I will ever settle for any one rom permanently.
Going back to 6.0 is not " finding your rom ". it is going back to your old Volkswagen because the new Ferrarris and Lamborghinis are too complicated and hard to drive.
The Rom I have is here : http://www.asia.htc.com/download/RU..._radio_sign_22.51.88.13_1.27.15.32R2_Ship.exe
If everyone is interested, give it a shot
And by the way Denco, I'm hectically in IT, I just need something that works 100% and 100% all the time
Not in the mood to battle with problematic roms.

If you need something that works 100% & 100% of the time, why even bother with flashing non-stock ROMs? I'm in IT as well, and I'm running Eclair 2.01 on top of jjblasters 28014. The issues that crop up don't prevent me from doing my job, and help me be better educated as to what's coming down the road.
Either way, to each their own. Enjoy your boring, bland, feature-less stock ROM and I'll enjoy the cutting edge.
My fav rom running over 1 year, Never need to reboot except if I remove battery or install new cabs.

I've been running stock ROMs forever, or at least since AT&T US released the Tilt 6.1 updates. Work fairly well.
The Android builds work anywhere from not at all to very well. I'm working on Eclair now. Seems very stable. Someone is working on battery life now, seems to be less than 8 hours now, so that might be a problem. Several things don't work, but nothing I can't live without.
If you are starting from the beginning, I suggest getting a couple of Class 6 MicroSD 4GB cards, heading to http://www.androidonhtc.com/kaiser/install, installing 1.5 or 1.6 on the card, and playing with it for awhile. See if you like it. There are ZIP files to download that you unzip and copy to the SD card.
You boot your normal ROM, get to WinMobile, then start up Android from the SD. So it doesn't do anything to your standard phone. It just all of a sudden is running only Android. If you want WinMobile, you just shutdown, and restart to WinMobile. No pain.
After that, you start replacing various files to get to the version of Android that you want. As I said, sometimes you get very unstable, but when that happens, just return to the previous stable version.
It's like getting a free new phone! Or at least one for the prices of some SD cards.

which ROM
well.. I ve tried many ROMS.. but frankly felt shifu's version 4 was good. I dint face any problems with that ROM.
all other were buggy I agree.. and the original shipped ROM has to be good.
Ha, I have the same thoughts. I`ve tried a lot of roms, some of them was quite good but not in 100%. That was boring and if You use seriously your phone with a lot of important files, contacts, calendar appointmets it is hard to keep averything right when changing frequently roms. this is quite nice feature to change os to something You like, but not for serius usage. Somebody compare standard rom to Volkswagen, rebuidled to ferrari. So what that You have ferrari if itis not capable to run ?
pawelpaciorek : That is exactly what I'm talking about, I have tried most 6.5 roms on this forum and to keep on changing my roms and back up my contacts, reinstalling every single app (skype, gps, garmin etc etc etc) was just irretating me coz the ROM wasnt functioning propperly.
Luckily for now I set my phone up on our work's MS exchange server, so restoring contacts etc has become a bit easier.
Coz i once tried like 5 ROMS a day, and just got too irretated, to do all the above.
I believe its because the 6.5 roms are still in Beta, and no matter what, the Chefs cant really turn a Beta product into a full working one.
So its not the Chefs fault, its the fact that the Base of the 6.5 roms aren't completed.
I'm actually looking forward in changing my rom to Android as soon as it becomes available as a stand alone OS (somehow I doubt this will happen for Kaiser) but yeah
I have found my ROM as well.
It's not stock, it's not 6.5. In fact, I hate 6.5 ROMs running on Kaiser.
Everytime I flash a different ROM I go back to my safe ROM in a matter of days. Even recent ROMs made by the same chef are not as fast and stable.
I've a got a 6.1 ROM, memory hacked, fast, and stable.
I'm not telling what ROM it is in this topic though.
I have hated the 6.5.x roms for Kaiser because they have all been buggy, slow, or some cross of the two. But I will say this:
TPC "Stock Like" 23071 is FASTER than the GENUINE At&t 6.1 ROM!!!! And stability is almost flawless... no crashes of any kind.
Only problem I have with stock roms, which is what causes me the headache of flashing to try new roms is the feature set AT&T uses SUCKS and the OS tends to be bogged down with bloatware EVEN when soft resetting just before the customization screen.
The HTC home plugin is ugly, and makes landscape practically unviewable. The settings are horrible in 6.1, and the functionality is mutilated. 6.5 has fantastic functionality at the price of very few stable or even speedy builds.
As I stated, the one I am using is TPC Stock Like 23071 (NOT 28002 which has the sleep death that is to date not curable in the 28002 builds).

BTW, the newer radio (1.71 eMonster) is definitely a necessity!
Moved to Kaiser General as not ROM Development...
Found my ROM
Amen to that

What country are you in? I tried that one and found the GPS fix was nowhere near as fast here in the UK. Maybe it's quick in the countries it's intended for though.... I never tried running my (older) favourite 1.27.12.32 Radio on it and that may have made a difference (if it was fully compatible). I don't rember, does it have a network connection wizard including countries such as the UK because one of the WWE WM 6.0 ROMs I tried only had S.E.A. countries listed and that posed a problem with getting it to work here (it couldn't get all the required settings automatically once I started the phone with its O2 sim). Yes I guess I could have manually installed a cab version of a full wizard but who wants to do that after any hard reset (and I still do those every few months when things start to slow down).
I'm hectically in IT, I just need something that works 100% and 100% all the time

Been there done that (was a computer technician) and I know what you mean. The GUI may be a bit more sluggish and boot times longer but at least you get what you want - in my case the most important thing being brilliant GPS performance.
