Rings length
Hello Belgium I guess...Morkhoven?
Here a possible reply from bouwel:
The maximum length is 30 seconds with settings on Kaiser.
Perhaps there is a extern file or some other trick.
You can make it 10 seconds longer like this: Start-Settings-telephone-services(2nd item lower bar)- select oproep doorschakelen(call...)-download settings(press button right under)- doorschakelen after: enter 30 seconds.
Ring is 30 seconds long.

ring length increase to 30+
is it possible using a reg tweak to increase the ring length? i have noticed if i set a full size mp3 as sms tone, it will play full tone, but same mp3 for ring tone will play 30 secs. anyone?
No, it's a Network setting issue.
Your Service Provider re-routes your call to voicemail, not the Phone.
I suppose if you turn off voicemail it might ring longer.

Hi All,
With WM2003SE i have a lil bit uncomfortable thing. After period of time (approx 1 minute) an incoming call becoming a missed call, if i haven't answer the call.
Now I use WM5 (helmi 1.32), but I still found that such things. Does anyone know how to change/set incoming call behavior in WM5?
Means that..the ring still sounding (unlimited - like handphone) till the caller put off their call.
Best Regards,
Dave
you should change it in the sounds/notifications

Yeah, but how...
I did it, but it doesn't change anything. Have you try and ever trace this weird behavior..?? I've try with .wav, .mid and .mp3 ringtone type. But it still do the same things..after a period of time, the ring will stop and the caller will get busy line or unreachable destination
somone (sry i cant remeber who) in the forum posted this in a diff topic
Delayed ring - Workaround
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can increase the time it takes for voicemail to pick up. I set mine to max 30 secs and I haven't missed a call I've heard. My phone seems to ring after 2-3 rings on the other end. This may not work for every carrier. I'm on Cingular in the U.S.
Step 1. Key in the following into your phone *#61# then press the call/send button. This will return a telephone number and the current delay time before voice mail kicks in .
Step 2. Write it down.
Step 3. If you wanted, say, 30 seconds, before the Voice mail activated, then you would put 30 where the nn is in the following string and the telephone number from step 2 where the xxxxxxxx is.
Key in **61*xxxxxxxxx*11*nn# followed by the call/send button and it should update the delay.
For example, it would look like this **61*xxxxxxxxxxx*11*30#
If your phone reports the delay time, you can check by following step 1 again.
.
I've got a wav recording of my baby laughing as my SMS incoming message sound which is around 10seconds long.
In my old sony ericsson phone (ordinary phones), whenever I receive a message, I just press any button and it stops the sound. I love the longer sound but on certain occassions, like in my office, I would like to turn off the sound using a single button.
With the Kaiser, I tried to press all buttons but it can't be silenced right away. It has to play the recording until the end. My option is to go to the HTC home plugin / audio, then set it to silent mode, which may take a little longer, or I just try to cover the speaker with my hand. biggrin.gif
Would you know of any shortcuts to stopping the sound?
Thanks.
Have you tried moving the wheel on the left down-wards?
Thats what I do when my phone "rings" when someone calls... just knock the wheel down and it silences it
tried it, didn't work.
thanks..
Same here. I chose a song as my incoming SMS that was 3 minutes long. I had to go to the notification settings page to silence it.
Any help would be appreciated.
As the guy above said, scroll the wheel down a turn or two. That silences incoming call alerts.
(And a 3 minute song as a ringtone is not the best idea. Edit it down to 20 seconds)

That didn't work for me with SMS. I scrolled down, up and hit every button on the device and it still wouldn't work. I edited down to about 10 seconds. That's well long enough for an SMS.
same problem
I’ve the same problem with my tytn.....if I don’t have a long sound I don’t see a new sms or mms even if sometimes the short sound it’s better!
also I’ve tried all buttons but they wouldn't work!
So...if don’t have any hardware solution…could I have some chance for a software solution?
How about just leaving you phone on vibrate when at work instead of disturbing everyone around you
Easy solution to you problem and your coworkers will probably thank you for it...
Or you know, using Audacity to pare down the length of the sound file?
thx for the answers....
i work in a lonely room...and the song volume isn't a problem...but i leave the phone everywhere...so i would like to stop the music sound when i've find the phone and i've read the new message!
First, off i did a search and all i could find is extending ringtone by looping, which apparently removes the 3 second lag, but I haven't really noticed anything.
Anyhow, I am on At&t service and it appears that my phone only rings three times with the tilt. I switch my sim card out and put it into my older motorolas and each time I call those phones I get 5 or 6 rings.
I noticed this because when my tilt rings it only lasts about 10 seconds before it connects to my voicemail.
In the past, I may have noticed an option on my device but at this time I couldn't find it. However, I may just be imagining things. I am tired of missing calls because i can't get my phone out of my pocket in time. If anyone has any suggestions about extending the length of the ring it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried playing with the registry value for ring script?
I've seen this several places, but here's one forum discussion's tutorial:
Change ringtone/vibrate/LED flash characteristics
If you would like more control over how your device rings/vibrates/flashes its LEDs on events, you can can change the Script values of these events. For example, for an incoming call performing 'activate device, play ringtone, wait 3 seconds, repeat':
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = "apw3r" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
For performing 'active device, set volume to 33%, play ringtone, set volume to 67%, play ringtone, set volume to 100%, play ringtone (no repeat)':
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = "ac33pc67pc100p" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
The following are the full codes available to you. Please note that all the codes are executed simultaneously except after a ringtone play / wait code. E.g. 'v1p' will vibrate and play at the same time, while vibrating for 1 second. But 'pv1' will play the ringtone through all the way first, then start vibrating for 1 second.
a = activate device
cN = set volume to N in percentage max volume
fN = flash notification LED for N seconds
p = play ringtone. Note that this will play the ringtone all the way through before continuing with the next code.
r = repeat. Note that this should be the last code in your Script string, if used at all.
vN = vibrate for N seconds
wN = wait for N seconds. Note that the device will wait this long before continuing with the next code.

I can confirm that what you need to do is call AT&T. The default is for the phone to ring 3 times and go to voicemail. If you would like it to ring more time, you must call customer service and request it. I personally don't care, but had to do that for my father who can't always hear his phone very well. We had them change it to 6 rings for him.
i use full song mp3's as ringtones and it plays for as long as it dials you
Extending ring duration before call goes to voice mail
Here's how it's done: Start > Settings > Phone > Services tab. Tap 'Call Forwarding' then 'Get Settings'. Notice section 'Forward phone calls only if:'. 'No answer' should be checked. Change 'Forward after' to a longer value. (I use the maximum, which is 30 seconds.) NOTE: This works on an 8525/Hermes on AT&T. YMMV.
^ winnar. ThanQ, had been wondering about this for a while.

I believe that worked on my tilt also...thanks....
It won't loop and will only play for 30 seconds and I miss all my calls.
T-Mobile was clueless talked to G1 support team.
need more info because it sounds like you made a ringtone that is more than 30 secs and you expect your phone to ring longer than 30 secs before going to voicemail.

Agree with fingerlickin.
goto your dialer and dial *#61# and press send.
This will tell you the voicemail number and delay before forwarding.
yeah most phones are set up to ring between 20-30 seconds before it gets forwarded to voicemail. it isnt because your ringtone doesnt repeat, it was your voicemail box that's programmed to send calls to voicemail after 30 seconds or so. 30 second should be the max, if it goes over it might be considered extra minutes and you will be charge or minutes will be deducted from ya plan. you can remove voicemail forwarding and just have the phone ring forever if you want.
but here is some directions to check and change length before it is forward.
1. On your phone, dial *#61# and click Send.
2. Some information should be displayed: number that the calls are being forwarded to and the delay before the forwarding engages.
3. Write down the number (including +1)
4. Dial **61*+1xxxyyyzzzz*11*30# and hit Send. +1xxxyyyzzzz is the number you wrote down previously, 30 is the delay in seconds. The delay can be set in 5 second increments, 30 is maximum
5. Dial *#61# to verify that the new settings are active.
I have a problem with my ringtone that is driving me nuts. When the ringer starts, it is very quiet for maybe a second or two and then suddenly goes to the full ringer volume. I would like it to start at the preset volume level and continie; i.e. get rid of the soft-then-loud and just keep the loud.
For additional background I used ringdroid to make a few ringtones from .mp3s. The original .mp3 and created ringtones created sound perfect played through a media player so it is not the files themselves rather something weird on the phone.
This is one of the last items for me in setting up my new system so please help!
You can't fix that. Its a standard Samsung thing that they do with all devices.. No way as of yet to get around it.
This is terrible! Isn't there a way to remove this setting? This is an Android device after all!
Fret not, my friend.
As there's no solution to the native ringing behavior, here's a workaround to help offset the first low ring by extending the time your phone rings before rolling over into voicemail.
Dialing *#61# as instruction 5 suggests told me that my phone forwards to voicemail after 30 seconds.
I will give this a try. Any explanation for why this works?

Its not that it changes the tone like he said. All this does is make your phone ring for a longer period of time. I think the default is 20 secs.. using the settings above you extend that time by 10 more secs of ringing which helps so you can catch the phone. You still aren't stopping the actual soft first ring.
Exactly. This used to be changeable only via AT&T until I discovered the procedure elsewhere. Helps alot.
Hmm. This is not quite what I was looking for; I want to hear the beginings of my ringtones! Does anyone know the exact time the ringtone is softened? I guess I could use an .mp3 editor and bad nothingness to the beginning...
I downloaded audacity and put some blank space in the front of each one of my ringtones. 2 seconds seems to be the perfect amount of dead time for the ring to come up at full volume. This is actually kind of nice now vecause it gives me two seconds to reject the call before it starts making noise, so if I am in a meeting or something and forget to turn the ringer off (never happens I can dump the call.
Thanks Jack45, worked perfectly!
