Hello,
I'm looking for a software to send free text messages over IP. Chat functionality would be nice but not a must.
I found EQO (www.eqo.com) and I wonder, if anybody has already some experience with it. Functionality, performance, etc.
Thanks a lot!
EQO has a Windows Mobile beta version out now. I've tried it and it worked quite well on my Palm Treo 750, fast and no connection problems on regular GPRS. It's the best free IM client I've found. I recommend trying it for yourself.
Cheers,
Chris
That really sounds like it's worth a try!
Thanks

I'm interested in this too -- and would appreciate learning the pros/cons because I know that some people really don't like Oz. However I also have unlimited messaging, so SMS charges aren't an issue at all for me if the functionality is there.
Anyway - I just found the Oz cab here. Just takes a bit of looking. Go to the FTP site here and into the Wizard\Extended_Roms sub dir:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Extended_Roms
Download the "TMo-US-Ext Rom.zip". Inside you'll find all the CAB files, including what appears to be the Oz install.
I downloaded this, and have the files -- just want to verify that all we need to do is drop the Cab into the MDA (Wizard) and run it to install. Anyone else try this yet?
thanks alot, jon. i did do some ALOT of searching on my own but i didnt really know where to look. i appreciate the help.
i just installed oz and it works like a charm. so thanks alot. -tommy

tommy - great! I imagine that it doesn't use any "main storage" (working RAM) when it's not running, does it? As long as there's no downside in having it installed, other than using up space, I'm ready to try it. It would really be nice to have a full-fledged instant messaging client again on the phone. When Agile is ready, I'll probably go that way, but I'm not ready to deal with "alpha" level issues right now...
where can find the one with MSN?
Thanks
Well, this DOES use your SMS texts you know, not data. If you want one that uses data, goto palringo.com, its freeware, and supports AIM, YIM, MSN, ICQ, GT and many more.
Yes i know OZ uses SMS, I like it cuz I can still get my messages if i don't get reception.
I heard the new one has MSN but i can't find it.

Folks,
I'm a experienced C/C++ programmer that's looking for interesting projects to try for the Wizard. Please post any application ideas you have here. Please start small and I'll post as I develop. Thanks!
For now I cannot come up with something that quick.
But is't good to know that someone like you is here...one of these days I will think of something, if I have an idea, you will be the first that I tell

I've got an idea How about making a stylus-gesture application for the today screen? Something like Firefox's mouse gestures but for launching programs, new sms or anything else. Maybe in conjunction with a button press for avoiding accidental launches.
What say you?
How about a foot massager? lol
i know! i know! u cant because the only programming language available to do a foot massager is cobol, rite? roflmao
Bluetooth messagine
How about a bluetooth messaging software like IM over Bluetooth?
i like the IM over BT...
im for it 100%... I will be your BETA tester

Answering machine that accepts calls, plays a pre recorded message, then records the incoming message.
Just like a real life answering machine.

Yeah...that would be great, IF it is possible!

It's not due hardware limitations.

Yep, I go for the answering Machine. I hate my current provider maibox
we know it's not possible for GSM due to hardware limitations...how about CDMA devices like the HTC Apache?
I would LOVE a reliable, goodworking, and free AIM client. ive tried many of them but they dont suit my needs. If you can make something like IM+ but free and possibly better, thatd be great.
Alarm that works? Impossible?

I have tried several softwares including PocketWakeUp, none of them can fully handle the "wake up from the standby" issue. They might work many days and then...boom.
Any idea has any ROM update solution for this? I'm Running latest official WWE ROM on Qtek 9100.

I one time had a problem with PocketWakeUp, install it to Main Memory and your problems will be over (at least with me that was the deal).

Possible Program
Maybe a stand-alone program that shows you your network connection info such as IP address, wap name/speed, network activity level on the today screen? I saw this once but it was bundled inside another pay app.

is there a good aim client for kaiser? what are some good names of the programs
IM+ is a good tool for instant messaging. It is worth the 30 Euros...
Second to that ... I bought IM+ and it is quite good.
Well, I still like the Live Messanger with its BIG TAB But too bad, I want Y! + Aim too
Have IM+ fixed the problem the software had with not reconnecting very well (mostly not at all) after a lost connection. I find Agile is much much better for that, it actually works. Prefer the look of IM+ though.
Hmmm, I have never got that issue yet. I am not sure, but the connection was so stable, it could be the T-Mobile was good at that time.
I just purchased the program to turn my phone into a Webcam. I don't have a skype friend yet so I can't test the program. I bought it because it was only 20.00. I was always looking for something like this. Anyone else you this program? I wanted to know what settings you guys had on your program for optimal performance. BTW if any of you have skype message me I would love to test this unless you can recommend a free IM program that includes webcam capabilities.
I use it, mostly with MSN Messenger but it will work just the same with Skype.
My settings are as below.
Cool appreciate it. Does it have that lip sync affect. I don't mind it too much because it's a good program made for a ppc. Thanks alot man.
Hi Folks
I wonder if anyone knows how to do this? I've had a good look around, but cant find how to do it.
I've recently had my TYTN II replaced by Orange, my second one was delivered with a different ROM and radio to my first-its actually pretty good, i might not flash it for a bit!
The one thing its missing though is the threaded SMS which is in many (all?) of the WM6.1 ROMS (when they're grouped by contact/conversation).
Does anyone know if this can be added somehow?
one more quick one:
Ive installed the latest version of Opera Mobile-its an awesome browser. i cant seem to set it as my TYTN II's default browser though-anyone know how I could do this too please?
Thanks a lot in advance,
'tunes
Yes, it's possible. There are many progams that do this like Vito.
Thanks, but does anyone know if there's a way to update the messaging app to match whats in the 6.1 ROMs, rather than replacing it?
I used the threaded sms messaging from the palm systems. worked good.
Windows Mobile 6.0 does not natively support threaded SMS. Unless you are willing to upgrade to 6.1, you will need to install a 3rd party app like those already listed.
Thanks a lot folks.
Any thoughts on setting Opera mobile as my default browser?
I'm sure there's just gonna be a reg key that'll need changing, but I cant track it down.
