Hi
I did a lot of searching and I'm not even sure if this is possible.
What I want to do is that, when I press a hardbutton on my kaiser (let it be Button3 or even Button4), it should press '1'.
So basically, I need to press '1' without sliding out the keyboard, or without using the touch screen.
Thank you for looking.

2. the rule of thumb here is, particularly now that I've migrated all my reviews & Bibles etc. in there, is that you search & read the Wiki first. I've explained everything you'll need to know at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...ton config tips for Opera Mobile & Mini users
Thank you!!!
MortScript helped me. It was as if, it was made for me!

Hi,
I've successfully re-mapped the PTT button by following the instructions from this forum. I imagine the same procedure would apply to the small OK button immediately below the jog-wheel, but I don't know where to start. Of course, the button is not present in the Settings/Buttons applet - that would have been too easy.
First, how to disassociate it from its present function (Start Menu/OK)? And once disassociated, what is the button code to enter in the registry?
I tried aebplus, and it sort of works - but the start menu still comes up on the first keypress if invoked in the Today screen.
Any ideas on how to re-map this otherwise useless key?
Thanks,
Mike.

You sound like a jerk for posting that I did not search when the reply prior to mine was 6 months ago.
Did you even read the thread? None of the links you posted had instructions/advice on how to remap the side "ok" button.

The side "ok" button is a tough one because it has multiple functions. In programs, explorer windows, and settings it acts as an OK button but when you're at the today screen it acts as a Start Menu button. I kinda get the feeling we're not going to be able to change this for a while. Not until someone releases a keymapper specifically for the Kaiser.

even with the 8525 nobody has been able to re-map the ok button...it's still the biggest mystery, hehe....but now that they eliminated one button on the Tilt we really do need the ability to remap the ok button now...

I have the side OK button remapped in spb pocket plus v4 under the buttons menu in settings and the only thing you have to do is take focus off the start menu then it works as expected.

It's really easy with help of AE Button Plus.
You can pretty much map any hardware key on your device with this great app.
I have it setup to be able to copy and paste by using the sliding keyboard and pressing Window Key + C to copy and Window Key + V to paste among other cool shortcuts.
Cheers!

Thanks Rayan. I downloaded the AE Button Plus program for my AT&T Tilt, and it is working fantastic for remapping buttons. I was able to remap the side OK button to lock my phone by holding it for a few seconds. I love the way it also lets you leave the button with its default setting for one press, but create other actions for multiple presses.
By the way, the phone locking works fantastic. It allows me to answer calls, but doesn't activate any of the other phone functions until I unlock the phone. That's perfect for carrying the phone in my pocket. Also, incoming notifications don't unlock the phone, so that I won't accidentally turn-on a bunch of applications while the phone is in my pocket. The unlocking action is very simple.
I've also mapped volume up and down to a long press of the soft keys. That alleviates the need to use the stylus to select the volume button. Great.
The AE Button Plus program was what I've needed all along to customize my phone. It would've saved me a lot of time.
One other note, I downloaded the 2.6.3 version of the program, rather than the freeware version, but I haven't gotten any info on the cost. I may be disappointed in the near future if this program automatically deactivates. Do you know if I should expect a disappointment? I would pay for this program, but I'm not sure how much it's worth to me, but I saw no information on the cost. Do you know?
AFAIK there is only one version, if you want the registered version you buy a license and there's a procedure to activate it, otherwise it uses the free version with a couple features disabled and a nagscreen once in a while.
I want to remap the side ok button to calendar and long press to new appointment.
I have Pocket Plus 4 and it gives me the option to do it and it works when i have a program open, but when im on the today screen, it just opens the start menu. Any soluton to this?
You might try posting your question on the Spb forums. Developers over there monitor the threads, and might be able to help.
http://www.spbclub.com/forum/
Try aebutton plus.
Ideas? Wouldnt want to register to another forum for this...
like the post above said, AEButton, or maybe HButton.
Ok, I posted to the spb forums.
Please refrain from posting suggestions you have not tried. AEButton and HButton do not work.
Even if they would work, when I have a program that’s supposed to do this function, the first answer on my opinion shouldn’t be to install more programs to my device.
Just do this via the > Settings > Buttons.
I reprogrammed it to the HTC Action Screen.
AE Button does work, however, much like the Red End-call button there is a small issue. I can map the button for single, double, tripple, and long press, BUT, the button works as follows.
Press button, upon release the start menu opens.
Press button again, then it acts as AEB's 1st press.
Press button, twice, thrice, hold, all work OK
So it's OK but you just have to ignore the first push.
Now this is all on the side OK button, the front OK button is mappable seperately with AEB+

Like your Avatar, Bahh Humbug. AnyButton + is easily one of the most useful apps for PPC phones. I have so many functions mapped with it that the phone would be crippled without it, so sometimes suggesting a must have app is helpfull.

the ok button on the side is extremely different from the ok button on the front that you are referring to
Is the side OK button similar to the PTT button? I wonder if the side OK key can be removed from the registry and then renamed so that it would not open the start menu first, before the first, twice, thrice and long AEB push?

THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT....
I dont need new apps, i have everything else the way i want. Like my avatar, i'm allmost good to go.
In Pocket Plus 4, first push opens the start menu and second push closes it. Unless i have some window open at today, then it works as i remapped it.
Not sure where exactly a post like this should go.
Anyway I have been looking all over the place for an application like this
http://www.geekandproud.net/software/keycaps600.php
For a kaiser. More specifically an ATT TILT keyboard layout.
Pretty much what it does is, if you hit the hard keyboard button once it acts normal. If you hit it twice (quickly) it does whatever function + that key would be. And if you press and hold it, it capitalizes the letter for you.
I had this on all my Treos, and it was the best thing ever.
I searched and found one application that says it can do 4 things per key, but after further investigation it seems like you can only map apps to the keys and specific macros made by the dev.
Anyone ever see an application like this for a TILT?

Not sure if it your s/w is different, mines a Vodafone v1615, if you press the Cap button quickly twice the cap light will stay lit and text will be in caps until you press the caps button a 3rd time to cancel it, if that is what your asking?
You are right you can use the fn, caps, and shift keys. However if I am typing anything that has any sort of capitals that are not at the start of words, it slows my typing down a lot. Always moving back to the fucntion key. I can type prolly 1/3 faster on my treo, then on my tytn II.
Multiple keyboard key assignments

Get MagiKBLite. You can make your own key assignments. There is a Treo layout included, you can learn how to set up your own by looking at that. I have made a Tilt keyboard assignment layout, if you'd like to try it, then customize as you wish.
Thanks, that looks like exatcly what I was looking for.
Hi folks. Sorry if this question's been posted before, I did a search but came up with nothing.
Is there a way of changing the length which you have to hold the end key to trigger the Long Press End Key functionality? I'd quite like to shorten it, but there's nothing in the settings.
Cheers,
Pete

Come on, You obviously didn't search very hard. I did a quick search and found this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402381
it was one of the first links which came up
Check it out. I didn't read the whole thread, but you should. You should not have created this thread, you should have searched and added to this one if there still isn't an answer posted. It would have revived the discussion perhaps if a solution has not already been reached. It may have, I don't know. Like I said, I didn't read the whole thread. Hope you find what you are looking for and good luck.
^but no answers
I also want it to be shorter.. by half or smt..
Keep an eye on S2U2 following this link

I know it might not be exactly what you are looking for, or it might be better. I am using it on my phone *(not a Diamond) and it is by far my favorite locking program.
A_C has been working on the problems with the Diamond and this program and I am sure he will find sollutions soon if he hasn't already. Keep an eye on it. (if you are looking for an easy way to lock your phone)
I am not very familiar with the Diamon and what you are using or want to use the long press end key for, so I can't be of much help. Sorry
I currently use S2U2 on my diamond with absolutely no problems. I have it mapped to the long press answer button.
Hi, I'm still relatively new to using the diamond... (approx 2 weeks...)
This is my first WinMo phone also so I'm just trying to get use to it. My question is, does anyone find very little use for the Center Button on the Diamond? Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that around the button is a senstivity for autofocus and zooming, etc. But other then taking a shot with the phone I rarely use that middle button. Am I doing something wrong or if possible can someone tell me what else the center button can do because I'm still finding doing things on the Diamond a little bit slower... Thanks.

If you press and hold on a file for example you get the basic editing options such as paste, copy, delete, rename etc...
There are many other uses but I have to get back to work!! Im sure more members are gonna guide you.
Luck!
I mostly use it for zooming in and out while browsing.
it can be enabled to do scrolling for almost any app - search the forum and you will surely find it...
The centre button is essentially an 'action' button. If you notice that immediately north/south/east/west of it (on the ridged circle) there are softkeys you can press down to navigate and highlight whatever is on screen, depending on the context of what you are using (TF3D, file explorer, browser, etc) much like using the arrow keys on a standard pc. The centre button can then be used to 'select' the highlighted item much like tapping the stylus on it (or hold the button down like holding the stylus to get the context menu etc etc) this makes it easy to select things in a narrow list if you dont want to use the stylus and have fat fingers
Hope this goes some way to hint at what you can use it for!
It's good to get used to some hardware keys, this center button and navigating with 'arrow keys'.
It gets you more speedy and productive, using touchscreen is not ALWAYS the best, it's quite inaccurate (since I don't push always exact at the right spot). So on those moment it's very helpful to become familiar with the HW keys
edit: Oups, i'm not on the good topic ! Sorry
If a moderator can remove this post ...
actually i use the hardware buttons a lot, just cause i like the way they feel when i press them. i know, sounds weird, but hey, they do a hell of a job for me.
