Is there a way to preserve active synch partnership even after a hard reset?

Microsoft Exchange Sync Problems with Tilt

The following took place over a two or three day period (I posted on the AT&T forums before bothering everyone here).
Okay, I just did a hard reset and I am now attempting to setup my Tilt to sync with my work server (Microsoft Exchange). I have established a connection to the network but I get the following error when attempting to sync:
"There is not enough free memory on your device to synchronize information. Close programs that are running to free up memory, or restart the device."
There are no other programs running. I just did a soft reset (using psShutXP) and this was the first thing that I did. I checked the task manager to see if anything else was running, and Active Sync was the only program listed.
Now all of the contacts from my work server are gone!!! I just pulled out the battery again just to be sure. I still can't sync with the Exchange Server.
I tried another hard reset last night: It didn't work. Everything sync'd except for my contacts - they were erased from the server before the 2nd hard reset. I then tried to sync to my home PC via Active Sync and the contacts were erased from that PC as well!!! I then had to use PIMBackup in order to restore the contacts to the phone. Now everytime that I try to sync with the Exchange Server, I get the same error message (not enough program memory on my device). I have used Oxios to clear as much memory as possible, but that didn't help.

Reconfiguring ActiveSync, and creating a new relationship without deleting anything?

Hey everyone,
I want to synchronize my phone but it wont let me without first deleting the "other pc" it's synced with. Here's what happened:
About a year ago when I first got my AT&T Tilt, I setup a profile, bleh bleh.. But then I needed to re-image my desktop because I had done some hardware upgrades. In doing so, I lost my synchronization profile thing.
I do have a entire copy of my old drive, if there's somehow a way to get the files from there and/or the registry or whatever I need, please point me in the direction. But I would consider this a last resort.
----
So, my question is: How can I clear out all of the ActiveSync data on both the Windows Mobile Phone and my Windows XP? Start over fresh without losing any data on the phone while being able to resync EVERYTHING.
Thanks?

To be absolutely sure, backup your data with "PimBackup", search on this forum. When disconnected, open ActiveSync on your device and PC and delete all partnerships on device and PC. It will only remove partnerships, not your data. Connect your device and it will create a new partnership and synchronise.
Hm, yes, I have that already installed. I'll uncheck one thing at a time and test everything before I do the big ones.
I appreciate your reply.
Okay, I just unchecked tasks since I can re-sync that easily, and it deleted all of my tasks, this confirms that it will also delete my contacts and other content.
Can't I just manually delete the active sync data? Delete the registry entries and any files it uses to keep a record of the partnership?
When you uncheck tasks in ActiveSync (AS), it shouldn't delete any data on your PC or device but only stop the synchronization between PC and device. In my previous post, I wasn't talking about deleting any data on the PC or device (tasks, …). Everything is done within ActiveSync: without connecting the device, open the ActiveSync program on your PC, select and delete the name of your device's partnership. Still unconnected, do the same on your device. Then, connect your device and as there is no existing partnership, ActiveSync will create a new one, asking for your settings, then select the data you want to synchronize (tasks, …) and at the end, it will synchronize what you selected.

That's exactly how I thought it worked, but here's what happened:
When I deleted the partnership on the PC, then when I connected the device it asked to create a second relationship because it thinks it's a different computer.
When I try to delete the partnership on the device within active sync, I get prompted with: "Deleting this source deletes only the sync relationship and items exclusively used by that source. All others will remain on the device. Would you like to continue". All of the "items" are checked for that partnership, and like I said, when I just tried to uncheck ONE of them it deleted all of the data for that item.
Now I'm hesitant to click "Yes" in fear that it could potentially delete everything.
For the worst case, I would first make an Outlook or Windows backup of your data. Additionally, did you make a backup with PimBackup on your device, selecting all data? With this you shouldn't loose any data.
Deleting a partnership on an unconnected device should not remove your data on the paired PC, I believe the warning is only for data on the device.
What I would do after backing up is:
1) without being connected and within ActiveSync (AS), remove all existing AS partnerships on PC and device
2) connect device and create new AS partnership
3) synchronize and you should retrieve on your device all your data stored on the PC.

The only problem with that solution is that, I don't have a backup of my data on my PC. This is why I need to re sync everything, to create a backup. But I can't because it's synced with my last installation, pre-hardware update (as previously noted). So, the data on the device is the only data I have, and I want to create the partnership without losing anything.
As mentioned earlier, you can back up your data with PimBackup (freeware)http://www.dotfred.net/ or Sprite Backup http://www.spritesoftware.com/products/download.php?pid=191 (trial version) on your device and restore it in the worst case.
I took a brave step and deleted the registry settings which looked like the partnership key's. I then restarted ActiveSync and the profile was gone, it didn't touch my files and it acted like it had never synced before. When I connected it to the computer after doing this, it syncronized everything without deleting anything.
Thanks for the help, but sometimes it just takes some hacking.

ActiveSync One-Way?

I was wondering if this is possible. I've been researching and there isn't alot on ActiveSync. Anyway, is it possible to have a program on my phone to clear all calendar entries, then re-sync over bluetooth (I know bluetooth syncing is possible) without deleting the calendar on my computer? So it's kind of like a one-way sync, in order for this to work the syncing process cant modify the calendar on the computer at all when syncing, cause if you could it would clear the calendar on my computer too. So I was wondering if there was anyway to clear calendar on my tilt, then have it load/re-sync the calendar on to my phone from my computer without deleting my computer's calendar or modifying it.
Or if there's a way to do one-way sync and make my computer calendar read-only or something that would work too.
Please help, thank you .
Before all! BACKUP YOUR CALENDAR! After you have taken backup of your calendar on the PC sync it whit the phone. Now..
Delete everything and restore the backup from youre pc and re-sync

exchange sync

I don't like, for battery, to keep always on a internet data connection and activesync.
I would know if is possible to establish an automatic data connection (gprs-umts) at calendar, tasks, contacts opening to sync with exchange?
Same question here. Why exchange synchronization doesn't work with stock rom?? Is there way to make it work?

Microsoft Active Synch

I have always saved my contacts / calendar via PIMBACKUP. Just done a hard reset on my touch pro. Restored all contacts etc, everytime I hook it into active synch (which already has my contacts and calendar), it keeps copying from my phone to outlook creating duplicates.
All i want is to copy all from mobile to pc and clear outlook contacts and calendar. Was able to before click on contacts and settings and it woudl give me a option, its currently hidden.
Thanks
any help please?
