Hi all,
Finally WM6. Great!
But after installing the Tofclock ROM, my device became unstable like many others have reported. So when C_Shekar published his ROM, I installed it.
No problems on stability anymore, but after this upgrade I can no longer use my Bluetooth functions properly.
I can pair with my GPS, but as soon as I try running GPS software the device becomes slow and will reset after some time. After that, only turning bluetooth on will cause a reset, no matter if I'm paired or even using it at all.
So I re-installed the Tofclock ROM, because there I had at least GPS. But now it was no longer working there either.
Today I even downgraded to AKU3.5 and even a 'pre-historic' version of 2003 (1.70) but it does not work anymore for any of the ROMs.
Can someone please help me on this one. I understood from other posts that I'm not the only one, so it's not just my Hima. But I really would like to have my GPS back.

Which indicates that it is an hardware failure and not a software problem.
Flashing the device with another ROM version does not destroy any hardware at all.
Sascha
Thanks for your response.
But if it is just a hardware problem that can't be caused by an upgrade, how come I'm not the only person experiencing the same issue that started at the same time?
If it was just me it simply could have been bad luck.......
I'm just still not sure of my conclusions, but everything points at the upgrade to WM6. Let this be a warning!
I have not seen any similar reports in any threads before. Can you link us to specific messages?
It is very well possible that it's a software problem. After all you're probably using the same GPS/BT software in all these ROM up/downgrades you tried?
My GPS software is entirely on my SD card, after flashing a new ROM and formatting my RAMdisk it instantly knows my last position. Your software has IMHO probably messed up some file on your SD card that's related to your BT/GPS settings or so. I advice you to format your SD card, reinstall the clean GPS software on it, see if it still misbehaves.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332945&page=17
You also entered a reply back then ;-)
I will re-install my GPS software. However, I've tried other programs as well with the same result (i.e. Speed Sentry). But that might be because I tried it after a first reset. And the reboot also appears when I have a different SD card in the slot.
Right now I'm waiting for my backup battery to be empty. Who knows, a 'real' hard reset might help.
@Maggy
Seems you were right! Removing the battery didn't work so I checked my GPS program's files. I found a recently changed file for the config and after I removed it it seems to work again!
Still a big puzzle why it started when I changed to WM6. But I'm updating my ROM at this moment so I hope to be able to answer the question if it is WM6 related soon.
Thanks for the help!
You're welcome.
And yes, you're right that I replied to that post but my memory is in my PC and XDA, not in my head
It's possible that there's a tiny difference between the way the config file is written in WM6 or WM2003, so switching from one OS to the other messes the file up.
I have the good habit of formatting the SD card when I flash a ROM.
Glad this item looks solved.
Even better: it doesn't look solved, but it is solved.
I went home using my GPS! YESSSS!
Knowing this it's time I start cooking my own ROM......... thanks to all the great people at this forum.
Hello All
After having read the message, I just try TOMTOM 6 with RBT2001 and have the same problem, tomtom is very slow, and after some time soft reset.
And I have this problem with the new ROM: 7.0c.40CS (WM6 AKU 7.0)
And I had no problems with the ROM: 7.0b.40CS (WM6 AKU 7.0)
If this can help you understand the problems ?
I guess you should delete \Storage Card\ttnavigator.bif, then reinstall Tomtom
It's even much simpler: simply delete the \TomTom Navigator 6\navigator.cfg file. You'll have to redo some configuration, but it works great again.

Ok... I want to upgrade my PDA2k, but am a bit on the chicken side. Has anyone created or cooked a COMPLETE ROM for the PDA2k that they can post a download link to?
I can do the flash myself, but don't know how to cook a ROM and don't have the tools. I would appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks!
ROM Upgrade
Read this site. It's all here.
This FTP site has the ROM for Blue Angel. I used this one to upgrade my PDA2K. Works much better than the released version. Only problem is with sound after using the built in MS PocketPC CLOSE command; just don't use it, use another program like "Launcher" that has it's own CLOSE command which does not cause the problem.
Here is the FTP link: ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/BlueAngel_Roms/BA_1.40_radio_1.20_untested_extrom/
ChrisSpera,
Can you post a reply once you do the upgrade? I'd like to do it too, but I'm not as sure as you are on what to do. I also have a PDA2K from the US and would like to know how it goes.
Thanks,
Tom
Well, I got a little help from one of the patrons of this site, and I did get my PDA2k flashed with the 1.40 ROM, 1.12 Radio, and am working with a somewhat baked extended ROM. I've actually been tweaking it most of the day.
If you're using Cingular with your PDA2k, make certain that you grab the Cingular settings file from Club i-mate. You'll need those, as the settings in the SX66 ROM I used aren't quite right, though they work. Applications that automatically dial out via GPRS will not function correctly with the Connection Settings in that ROM. I am working with the guy that helped me to test the fixed connection settings, and when they are fixed, I'll let you know.
If you're using T-Mo, then make sure you get THOSE settings from Club i-mate and use those instead.
All is good, though! It works! I did have one hiccough, though; as my PC lost connection with the device BEFORE any flashing started. I bounced the box, leaving the device in the cradle, and was able to pick it back up from the beginning without any problems.
The device seems snappier. It connects to the PC faster, and boots faster. Pretty cool all told!
Thanks for the feedback! I hate to say this but I already started. It's been pretty slow in the office today, so I said...what the hell...and went for it. Wish I knew about the tmobile thing though. I'm just finishing the upgrade.
Where do I put the tmo information? Or, what do I do with it?
Tom
Chris,
What version is your extended ROM? Mine is 1.22.162 WWE
BTW, mine had the same problem with losing the connection. It's happened twice now. I updated my radio and the same thing happened. Strange.
Tom
I am using the SX66 1.40.110 (i think) version of the extended ROM.
If you go to the support area on club imate, and click on the Operator settings link in the support downloads area, you should be able to find a download link for a CAB that installs T-Mo connection settings. download it and use it to create your connections settings on your device.
I downloaded it and installed it. Didn't find it real helpful. I still had to go through everything to get mms and email setup. Oh well. Thanks for the tip though.
I've had it up and running for the past 24 hours and while I think the OS works a bit better I can't see a huge improvement. The phone is more responsive though.
Any notes on changes would be helpful. I did notice that the BT connects had a strenght signal now, which I find really helpful.
Question: Was this upgrade supposed to do anything to the extended ROM? Because the version is the same as before.
Thanks,
Tom

I just comprehended your post. Sorry about repeating the question when you already answered. How, or why, should I upgrade the extended ROM? I take it the upgrade I just did did not put the upgraded files in the extended ROM?
Tom
The extended ROM, which is about 16MB in size holds the custom software that comes on the device. You don't have to upgrade it at all. You can leave it be if you're happy with the software that's there.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the upgrade that was just performed by you and I install the new files into the ext rom automatically? Or, do I have to do it manually....copy the cabs from the laptop to the ext rom?
I've just been reading about cooking an ext rom and I'm going to give it a shot.
Tom
that depends on the files the update contained. Look for *.nbf files in the temp folder you launched the update from. What was in there? MS.nbf is the OS, radio.nbf is the phone and nk.nbf is the extended ROM.
I think I screwed something up. radio.nbf and nk.nbf were in the temp file but MS.nbf was not. Was it in yours? I believe I pulled the same file as you did from the link provided but there's no mention of it in there.
I also took a look at my extrom folder and none of the files that were listed in the link are in there nor loaded. I guess I'm getting things confused. Did you copy all the cabs into the extrom folder then run BAUpgradeut.exe? I just ran BAUpgradeUT.exe and thought they'd copy them over. I think I was wrong.
Tom
now obsolete
new aku2 here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279908
so am i right in presuming that the gprs settings and phone settings are present in the rom? if not, how do we find them?
ALSO:
T-Mobile are releasing a rom update this month (ie this coming week!) so it might be worth looking at what they have done, not just for wifi fix but any other maintenence changes. Apparently they do alot of testing on their roms so there might be useful stuff there.
t-mobile gprs and wap settings are part of the extended rom. the 3 cabs files that begin CAB-Customization-...
i didnt include them as i'm on O2. This is more like a 'Qtek' version for the charmer, a universal version. doesnt include any operator specfic content.
looking forward to that update, hopefully its aku2, everyone else is releasing theres at the moment.
SDIO
What about SDIO drivers in this debranded OS?
so if i back up my current rom cabs and then install this, if it all goes pearshaped, i can relaod the origional and not end up with an expensive paperweight?
i wanna do the deed, but am scared as hell with it being my first PPC and only a few weeks old at that.
but anything to speed it up, its like im running windows or something.......
oh!
only way you could mess up is if you pull the plug or have a power cut! while uploading the new os. remember to backup all your contacts and stuff as you'll need to hard reset.
you can start all over again if it doesnt boot or something by using the install package on the t-mobile site
http://t-mobile.iris-global.com/download_manager_mda_com2.html
just go into the phones bootloader, with the phone off, hold down camera and plug in the sync cable until the 3 color boot screen comes up and run the install package to go back to factory.
It worked!!
Dear dave106 and all;
i tried your fantastic upgrade yesterday. This was my experience:
1- I works like charm!
2- you might find it easier to use Total commander to uncheck 'system' and 'read-only' in the properties of the windows folder on your charmer, before Unlocking CID (to avoid any error).
3- alternatively you might use Lockiwiz 2b from this forum to unlock and unlock CID first.
4- the ROM upgrade went fine, showed some error messages on the charmer screen (nothing to worry about) but did not indicate an end. I unplugged it after 20 minutes. It rebooted on itself et voila, it was up and running.
5- Changing the boot scrren went very smoothly.
6- I noted that the T-mobile customization (after the new config.txt) did not install at all. I had to manually install the CAB listed in the config.txt file to reload the MMS and GPRS settings.
But now my charmer has no T-mobile crap on it...
However, i did not notice any dramatic change in speed....
Ill check your unbraded rom for wifi sdio capabilities over the next few days (on a 'just in case' basis). I'm just recovering from a totally borked pagefile on my main pc so ive been too busy to try as of yet.

aWizard not reconizing os.nba
Hi,
have followed instructions as above but when I go to write new rom it can't find os.nba.
Anyone have any ideas on what i'm doing wrong or what to do next?
I'm a noob, obviously
I uninstalled QuickGPS (stupid move, in retrospect) and now want to reinstall it. I downloaded the HTC_QuickGPS cab from Dutty's site but get this error message when I try to install it: Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions.
I am not a developer or a techie. I searched this forum for 'reinstall QuickGPS' but didn't find anything.
I'm also thinking of doing a hard reset and not loading the AT&T bloatware but there are a few programs from it (especially GetMail_at_t) that I want and am wondering if I'll get the same error message.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Have you soft reset? I get that message when another program is still in memory (Comm Manager, etc.). Additionally, I HIGHLY recommend hard resetting and not letting the bloatware install. Just did that for my buddy's tilt and he saw a HUGE performance gain. Anything you like from the bloatware is available on this forum as a cab. I understand not being comfortable voiding the warranty by ROM flashing (although that makes a far bigger/better difference). However, the bloatware sucks pretty bad. Plus, then you're sure QuickGPS is installed correctly, etc. I will say, he had a data issue after the hard reset. If you do it and have trouble with your data, assure your ISP settings are correct.
Just FYI: Sucks when no one post their results.
I was having the same problem and the soft reset worked. Thanks Guilf.
Worked for me too soft reset n it installed thanks
slightly different problem
im using Medkid's ROM. with radio version Radio version - 1.65.24.36. this ROM doesnt have QuickGPS pre-installed, so i had to download the cab file and install, but this is what i get,
it seems to install, but when i try to run the program, i get an error message saying
"the file QuickGPS" cannot be opened. either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. if the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
i have tried reinstalling, not worked. i even tried a QUICKGPS patch i found on the internet, which contained a quickgps.reg file and a quickgps.exe as well. DID NOT WORK EITHER>
any suggestions?
try this one out HTC QuickGPS 1_00_220821_00.cab
i know this is a little late but i had the problem now and i fixed it
here is what todo:
eventhough i uninstalled quickgps and the program was not in the program list, it was still running a process, so i used SKTools to 'kill' the process, after that i was able to reinstall QuickGPS...

Agree fully with the above. I flashed my TILT with a barebones HTC Rom (bengalih's BRR-HTC-2.0 Lite ROM), and the device just FLIES compared to the out-of-the-box AT&T setup. The ROM developer included a separate file with all the removed apps available as .cabs, so I installed just what I wanted.

Hi all.
Has anyone found using their original ROM that sometimes you go to phone out and there is no audio? I find the fault is typified by when you dial, you hear no dialing tactile tones from the key entry. Then the phone rings out but I hear nothing. A reboot fixes it.
Any comments?
Thanks,
Alistair.

Well the problem seems to have gone after the previous cab install.
Re WM5/6 yes, I am quite keen but the FAQ for upgrade is unfortunately not so clear for me. For example:
The wizard takes one through the process with one ROM, no problems but other information:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...0.ROMx20.thatx20.willx20.workx20.forx20.mex3f.
Advises that I need to find out system information and search for my ROM before upgrading. So its confusing do you do the wizard and forget trying to find the correct ROM or search for your ROM - in my case I did, and its not there although my device is AU/NZ/Vodafone, so will be a very common GSM model.
Cheers,
Alistair.
So i have been using Custom ROMs for about a year now with no problems. However, recently i flash to the Valkyrie Firestorm 4.4 (i think) leo and when i attempted to restart my fone it would either hang on the sony erricson logo or it would boot up like it does after a flash. As in it would run the customisation and wipe all my contacts and other information, but strangely enough the clock would remain on the correct time.
This has happened with every firestorm i have tried, which are: 4.4 leo, 4.4 manila and the 4.5 leo. I am going to try a different ROM to see if i still get the problem. has anyone had this problem?
I've re-flashed my hard-spl multiple times to no avail.
Yup I've had the same problem with itje's touch it 14 rom. I have no idea why this is happening, it already occured twice with me.
I had the same problem with the valkyrie 4.4 rom, Itje's Toucht-it Leo v10 and Toucht-It Xperience v2, UnOff 6.5. And also with other versions of itje's Touch-it because i remember seeing the HTCpedia.com customization screen a lot
Every time my phone hung and then when i push the reset button it take's a long time and then it is back to first run. or it does nothing and stays at the touch-it start-up screen.
Could it be a hardware failure like something with the backup batery in the phone? when power goes off it doesn't save data and then when you turn it on it thinks it is first run?
I can always tell when it is going to happen if the favourite programs on the programs tab dont work anymore. When I want to start a program from the tab it says "location not found" or something. After that I will likely have a system freeze and after that I have a hard reset, same sympoms as Aerox912.
So maybe it has something to do with the programs tab?
I am having the same issue with Christians 3.201 build.
Also during the installation it will often hang on the install of Opera or Opera Beta.
But I tried re-downloading and reflashing 6 times before I gave up and went back to an older ROM.
Looking forward to the next version so I can try again. I really like the Firestorm but I also really like the Panels.
Now I just need to find out how to install the SPB Mobile Shell 3 as a panel like on Christians and I would probably stay with my SEX1 build.
Using itje's touch it 15 RC2 and it sometimes, for no reason, phone just reboots. It used to happen with version 14 as well. Never used to have that problem before then.
I tried with rotastrains Blaze rom. the latest edition and i am still getting the same issues. I too, can tell when it is going to happen. When the programs can't be run anymore or if the phone freezes and then i need to turn it off, i can almost guarantee that will happen.
Im glad to see im not the only one with the problem, but isn't there anyone with a solution? I've tried everything and i really cant put up with having to wait 15 minutes until my phone is usable everytime it restarts.
Guys, i had this problem with my Diamond recently & i can say that it's more than frustrating.
try this option, I'm not sure if this is the EXACT same process for the Xperia but it did solve my issues. Perhaps scheduling a daily backup of PPCPIMBackup will help keep info up 2 date when the dreaded lockup happens?
hope this helps
flash a stockrom and then the custom rom and the problem should be gone
Why would that help?
I now tried cristians rom, and had the same problem again within one day. I'm now gonna try the MTTY (format) option, see if that helps...

This simple solution seems to work fine for me. Thanks man!
The MTTY solution for formatting the phones ROM area worked just fine for me
Can you point me the mtty formatting method? Please.
I also had this problem once at my x1 and once at my girlfriends diamond. Seems a reflash with a stockrom and after that flash the custom rom again solves this problem.
Atleast it worked for me.
I put on the R3AA014 ROM and am still seeing the problems.
Is there another Stock ROM that would work better?
And I have tried to look up the mtty method and all I find are people talking about it, but not the actual method.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hm... i tried that but that did nothing.

SOLUTION:
Format Your SD card (don't be lazy and just delete the old stuff and put new rom file in there).....put a fresh copy of the .nbh file in root.
Hard reset after flash.
Problem should be gone
