After succesful upgrading to WM2005, I tried to install the 2 arabic files extracted from EXT ROM (which I think are responsible for Arabizing) "Default_AACERT_arabizer.CAB" and "Default_ACERT2_arabizer.CAB". After installation and softresetting, the device acts wierdly, and.... There is NO Possible Way to get it running again without getting into "Bootloader Mode". Did any one manage to do that? and I couldn't get into the xetended ROM of WM2005....did any one succeed?
you cannot use any existing localization packs on WM5
well it workedfor me on himalaya

Dear friends,
I tried my self also...but all in vein....that was 1st reason to downgrade to Win2003 SE...
I wrote an email to imaginet one month ago, they replied " we are trying hard to upgrade and soon you will have an upgrade"...I don’t know what it means by soon...months or years???????????....since they never upgrade after 2003...
i will attach 2 options for arabizing... people managed to get them working... i didnt know however (still new at these things) so if are able to enable any of them please tell me how
file 2 (updated arabizer ripped from jasjar) i even tried installing the first then updating with this...
i tried everything
i cant seem to get it to work, while others have and are not willing to show me the way
i cant upload it cause its too big even after partitioning
so i will try from a different place cause i cant use ftp here

Check this link. There's a detailed explanation on how to do it. However, some claim that it didn't work for them. Good luck.

Can you explain what is "nothing"? I did it my self last night and it worked. The only drawback is there is no Arabic keyboard. However, they clain that if install that dictionary..it works. I'll have to try it.
Arabizing is possible with wm5 and blue angel
I can arabize my xda iis with the following programs in wm5 (maimach patched rom) if you use the standard rom it locks the blue angel...you must extract this paste the nb file to ph20b if you have xda iis, if u have a siemens it is the other folder..reflash the rom:
imaginet Dictionary working
Imaginet reader working
Arabizer 1.3 working and stable
sidenote:
imaginet handwriting reader working well in 2003se. Works in 2005 however when the mobile goes into standby mode if unused say for 5 minutes pressing the power button will not open the blacklight, only a reset resolves this. In the end this is the only one i have not got working yet.
Finally, make backups every step of way with a program like sunnysoft 3.3 or above, unlike sprite this is compatable with wm5.
Dear friends, I am still trying to install properly arabizer on wm05.
I couldn’t install Arabic –English dictionary and prayer timings.
If you install above mentioned files without AR-Eng dictionary, Arabic key board will not install, but if you get file from following link, named “United Arabic Cab.rar, its worked fine for me and I was able to get Arabic key board without installing ar-eng dictionary. hoping it will be helpfull for you.

Please help. I flashed 2.16.9.x and now ActiveSync doesn't work anymore, it connects all the time. PDA doesn't show activesync syncronization icon.
I tried to flash another versions of ROM, but it didn't help.
The problem may lie with the PC as opposed to the PDA. Have you tried a remove / re-install of AS4.1 on the PC?

Try to make your computer or laptop restore on earlier date then since it started. I had once this problem i don't know but sometimes it with the system files in computer missing then the problem occurs.
Although my ActiveSync works almost fine after the same rom-upgrade, I encounter its strange behaviour sometimes (rear, not always!) - PDA slows down to a crawl right after you disconnect it from a desktop PC (either USB or Bluetooth). It becomes so terribly slow that it takes 20-30 sec to draw the Comm-manager window! then you better soft-reset, then it works just fine. Why am I... to prove that ActiveSync 4.1 is not quite stable with new ROM version 2.16. There is a bug somewhere, and it has to be reported to i-Mate firmware writers.
Have you followed Microsoft rules about configuring firewalls for ActiveSync 4.1? Does it create a network connection 169.254.2.1 on a desktop PC?
Thank you guys, but I guess my case is harder:
1. I have firewall switched off. I didn't change any setting in computer. I just flashed new ROM.
2. I flashed my original ROM, but it didn't help.
3. I tried to sync on several computers and had the same result.
By the way I cannot return to original ipl/spl, I don't know how to do that.
Today I visited repairing service's office and they've prooved me my device is not broken, it synchronizes succesfully via USB on their computer.
So, the problem is related to my computer(s). If I'll find something I report in this thread.
it probably has to do with one of the cabs you installed that are on your original extrom or someone elses. Most people who have had problems after the upgrade on an 8125 (Cingular) have installed cingular cabs from the old rom. I had to to figure out the MMS configuration and after I foundthe one that did my activesync no longer worked. after a reflash and only installing some of the default cabs that came with the new rom and manually configuring the mms and gprs I don't have any problems at all.
well maybe it is the version of activesync we are using when this does happen.
I'm running the ROM that came with the Cingular 8125, and it does the same thing ... 1 in 10 times after disconnecting the device from the PC, the 8125 slows to a crawl, and the only way to recover is a soft-reset. 9 out of 10, it works fine.
OS ROM: 1.8.11.1 WWE
Radio: 01.09.11
Protocol: 4.0.13.20
not overclocked
soon to be ROM upgraded (hopefully)

I use 4.1 for a long time.
I didn't install anything on my pda. It happens even after hard reset. I even tried to flash original rom. In all cases ActiveSync displays "Connecting...", pda even doesn't display sync icon.
I tried to sync with standalone notebook and it was successfull. I'm really shocked why pda cannot sync with my desktop(s). It seems to me it could happen after some windows unattendant updates or something, I'm still investigating...
I have Qtek 9100 and have installed rom 2.16.9 and i also have activesync 4.1 refusing connection to my pda. After some googling i have found this interesting site: http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/tshoot-as4x-connection.htm
I did cheks described there and found out that activesync doesnt have any network adapters and/or activity. USB driver installs, but it, again, doesnt generate anything. Maybe problem is there?
Ehhh... I even cannot return to any previous rom version, because there is no rapi for updaters to work with
reverting back to original cingular rom
How would you go back to original ROM using Lokiwiz tool if your active sync was working OK?
Thanks,
Each time I have done HARD RESET--I uninstalled active sync from my computer AFTER DELETING PARTNERSHIP. I deleted PC from Active sync on my 8125. I deleted all files on my computer related to active sync using search.
I then reinstalled active sync 4.1, being sure WINDOWS FIREWALL was off. I went thru all the steps with my TREND MICRO VIRUS PERSONAL FIREWALL EXCEPTIONS listed on http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/default.mspx
and I got it to work (1st install always takes time for calendar)
Hope that helps--it seems ridiculous to have redo all that-but so be it.
I'd like to know how to get back to CINGULAR ROM as I am still in 30 day return window.
Well there is a magical combination of buttons as described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37386 (somewhere around 2-4 page):
Voice+Camera + Reset. Colored bootloader shows up. After that you can connect it to usb and run .exe with rom you want.
The problem with me is that i dont use any 3rd party firewall (i have hardware router for my connections)
reverting back to original cingular rom
You don't think there would be a problem going DOWN in ROM'S?
Do I need to UNLOCK again first?
I must confess. I did (i think veeery lucky) sucseded in running activesync. Altough what was the cause i cannot say. I reverted to 1.6.7 version of the rom. and reinstall everyting several times. and reboted several time. and i saying loud magical words. (and deleted checkpoint vpn software that i have installed). AND it worked!
Maybe trouble was in vpn soft, but it worked pre 4.1 activesync. So... Here is my experience.

Thank you very much for this link, it helped me to find the reason. It's not new ROM fault. The Microsoft Firewall Client (ISA 2000 component) on desktop blocks communication between PDA and desktop. I disabled it and now ActiveSync works fine.
Thank you again.

Yes, you can always install apps manually.
then poo no need in wipeing my settings out i dont really think i need these apps neways but if i did where could i dl them or is there a way to extract them out of the .exe?
After installing this ROM, I can no longer flash to other ROMs. During the ROM flash wizard, and after the phone does the initla reboot to the multicolor screen, the update fails and the installer immediately goes to recovery mode.
Has anyhone else seen this, and is there a fix?

I would try downgrading to the stock T-Mobile 1.08 ROM and then you should be able to upgrade to whatever ROM you want. If you can't even downgrade I'm not sure what you can do.
mskovrinskie, I've tried to Update my ROM, I managed without problems so I guess it's your phone or software causing the problems.
I used the original Qtek 2.17 update.
I personally think this ROM rocks. Ran the Cingular Connection cab from the shipped ROM and not much else. SmartsKey and Omap were already installed along with the other neat things Vilem referenced.
Seems very fast and stable but then again all I run is MS Voice and Adobe Reader as even the newest ClearView is too lacking for my needs. And most cool is that the big button dialer skins seem to work without the wierd graphics, etc I experienced with previous versions.
Just my two cents ...

I am using your v2 rom and like it very much. I have tried installing this cab twice but can't seem to locate a way to setup, run or assign it to a button. It seems to install fine to the device, I just can't locate it. I have tried soft reset. I cannot power off my Wing because of the shutdown problem with this version of your rom.
any guidance will be appreciated. thx
Anyone know how to configure this after installed?
dude. use google, they have the manual online...
and there is a help option when you start it up, it will tell you how to configure everything
Dude! i know this............ i would figure that out but........ when i installed Voice Command theres nothing that installed............ my phone talks when i get a text message but...... i cant find the file to configure it
What i know
1. this cant be changed using Registry
2. this cant be changed using any of the Start > System > Device Info
3. i have tried this http: //www.silentservices.de/HexEdit-ROM-for-BBC.html
the thing is , in example they try to change HTC-Rhodium into HTC-Raphael ... well they have the same amount of character, so no problem for them, but in my case, (using the R3A ROM), SEMC-X1 cant be changed to HTC-Raphael without adding more bytes in it (you can try it if you want)
is there any other way?
The Reason for this hassle
1. BB Connect works perfectly for me
2. now i found out Blackberry Application Suite in http: //forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=626456
well that BAS wont install on my device because it detected "SEMC-X1" as my model id, and it simply wont install
Please help
Thanks a lot
I don't have suggestions, but I am curious, what advantages do you get by using BB Connect of BB Application Suite? Is there any gained functionality over what WM offers by default?
BlackBerryMessenger is one thing
to be connected to all of my friend that used BBM
other then that, i can easily access the push email and internet using BBConnect instead of BAS
but then, when i used BBConnect, i cant use MSN and any other messenger
well , i am hopeful that by using BAS, i can rid of that limitation

Hi Shazad, if you take a look at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=632147
They have managed to extract BlackBerry application suite(Full BB on WinMo), however it only works on HTC-Raphael, the Installation program and the application itself will check before starting for modelId, which in the X1's case is HTC-Kovsky (or in his case SEMC-X1). Regardless of the name, how can this modelId be changed.
In some of the threads they use a utility called SetModelId.exe, however that doesn't work on the X1.

Why could you not use MSN while using BBC? Try to search for Multi APN connection that solve it for me I would love to have full bb on my x1 as well or at least i would love to use BBC on a cooked ROM, thats why i'd like to know the answer for your question as well.
I found something, search for 'hex editor blackberry connect' and hit the 1st link it'll give you. The method described there is way too dificult and time consuming for me :/

BTW did you get BBC working on a coocked ROM on x1? (6.5.x etc
BBC is working fine on all coocked ROM
you just need to rename the HTC-Kovsky into SEMC-X1
it is simple, just check the first post for more info
for BB application suite, i can confirm it that it will not work, i have tried it using my BES Email to activate the enterprise service, but it just wont work (i can easily activate my BES Email using BlackBerry Connect though)

Of course i've tried that but with no success i gave up when i had on like 10th try of different combinations always HEMC-X1 instead of SEMC-X1 in BBC. Also i found HTC-Kovsky there twice, which one do you usualy changing to get BBC working? 1st one or the 2nd one? From your link i can see that you've change it for HTC-Raphael - that works with BBC? - This might be the solution for my hassle.
HTC-Raphael is needed to install BlackBerry Application Suite which is not working :|
you can install R3A ROM from X1, it already has SEMC-X1
Oh and dont forget to subscribe for BlackBerry Internet Service Data Plan (it wont work without this)
I've been using BIS for long time. what i wanted was to use a rom with htc sence in it but all of them which are available has got HTC-Kovsky as ModelID. It would be great if you can tell me how exactly you change HTC-Kovsky to SEMC-X1 when you say it is easy. On which ofset have you made the changes? Did you change both entries or just a one? Whic one then? I've tried that usong the hex editor but the best i could get was HEMC-X1. Please man if its easy for you then tell me thanx. S.
you can change HTC-Kovsky to HTC-Raphael, then change AKU to .1.6.3
I use this method for 4 months, and it works very well for me over BBC.106
please, me to want to use bbconnect on my customized agent47 rom. Can someone explain step by step how to?

Check the 1st post of this thread, for BB Connect the ModelID has to be SEMC-X1 (original ROMs) or HTC-Raphael (your custom ROM will have probably HTC-Kovsky as its ModelID so you have to use the HexEditor from the 1st post to change it to HTC-Raphael, i've done it and it works) also don't forget to change the AKU to 1.6.3 when using custom ROMs (i did not have to change it when using original latest ROM and i did not check its version as BBC was working straight away) you can find it in registry (use a registry editor, i use the plugin in Total Commander) HKLM/System/Versions/Aku - just change the value from whatever is there to .1.6.3
When using BBConnect than you'll probably need to use multiple APN connection to be able to use BBC in the same time as other aplications which requires a internet connection (internet, IM, Weather or GPS updating etc..) For this check this one:forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2382465&postcount=37
ok, changed device name and now flashing, hope it'll run! thanks in advance!
