I need someone to export HKLM/security/phone/skin from their phone. I'm trying to determine what keys were lost on phone when I was trying out some skins. If you could export (or copy/paste) the reg key and the sub-keys that would be awesome. Please post the attachement or the code to this thread...
thanks

Does that help? Or do you need sub directories also?

I really need the subkeys. What I'm trying to figure out is why my call history and speed dial buttons are using the default icons instead the ones actually in the \windows directory. I've verified that skin's icons are n the windows directory but when I view the phone app, the buttons are back to default (for call history and speed dial only).
If you could export or copy/paste the 'portrait' subkey that would be very helpful.
Here you go. Need more? Let me know.

Have you done any phone dialer skinning on this phone? or is it the original phone skin?
I've got a bunch of text color reg entries so maybe that's the cause...
I did install the black HTC dialer but removed it long ago. I didn't think about that when I exported it... sorry!

no worries....
I made a backup of that key, tehn removed everything that wasn't on yours... rebooting, I'll let you know what I find.
Damn, still got the default buttons.
Griz, can you check your speed dial and call history buttons. Anyway you can snap a screenshot to show what your buttons look like?
BTW.. thanks for all your help on this. If we find a fix I know many threads that will benefit from this....
I don't know if you will be able to see this, I dont have a screen capture app on my phone so I used a camera...? If it's bad, I will load a screen capture app and retake a picture for you. Or maybe you need to see more of the screen?
actually I need the speed list screen and the call history screen. Here's a good & free screen capture util....
Install this from your pc, then assign the magicSS application to a button, go to the screen you want to capture, press the button, save the file. When you are done, reassign the button to the previous setting.
Application credits go to Lou ........ http://www.louterrailloune.com/?page_id=7
OK, how is this?
the 3rd one is what I was looking for...
hate to tell you this, you have the same issue. look at the image used in the call history button in the image above. Now, view the actual files that are used for those images in the /windows directory. The files are:
spd_lst.gif
clg_in.gif
clg_out.gif
clg_missed.gif
The above files should look different then the above image. Do they?
This is what I see in /windows/clg_in.gif
-- scratch that...
that should be the image you see when viewing call history inbound calls, as you can plainly see from your screen shots, what's in the windows folder is not what is being displayed in the phone app.
And here's the kicker, at one point it did match. The image you show above (clg_in.gif) is what my original call history buttons display like. Even on some of the skins I tried, the speed dial and call history buttons skinned properly. I just notice that it won't do it anymore.
Either a registry entry has changed (or been lost) or there's some sort of OS icon cache issue.
The only reason I don't think it's registry related is that those files are usually treated differently when skinning the phone dialer. Most skins will create a folder with the replacement images, then the install will change the registry to display the images in this new folder. These 4 files never get put into the new folder, they always get dropped directly into the windows folder, overlaying the ROM file. Also, I've never seen any registry entry for these images. I would think that the registry entries (if they existed) would be under the reg key mentioned at the start of the thread.

Hi,
I have a Treo 750v (Vodafone version) which like what it's box said it is meant for email solution, that's why the left soft menu of the Today screen menu is set to Email.
Anyone know how to change this?
Thanks, appriciate your share of knowledge!
I forgot the details but this i know as much
You have to download the register editor program. Search around the registry is all the same when it comes to changing soft key for all WM phones.
The only problem with the Treo 750 is when you change the softkey from email to something else it ends up adding an extra short cut. So in essence you are not overwriting that key, all you are doing is adding an extra feature on top of the existing email button.
Maybe someone had better success than I did can chime in
Using a registry editor, navigate to Hkey_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/Today/Keys/112

It's all because Palm plugins - they overlay it. If you disable Active Call (or Dial Lookup?) you can have native-windows softkeys. It was all described in instructions how to ged back default dialpad.

Hi, thannks for the direct links. I'm going to try installing it. i hope it'll be fine.
seems it doesn't work with wm6. after installing it, the program isnt available in my program.
Does anyone has a clue if we can remove the small mobile icon on the photo in the Favorite People? I notice this icon will show up if I have more than 1 number ties to the person.
just delete hh_people_16x16_device.png, hh_people_16x16_home.png and hh_people_16x16_working.png from your windows directory.
these are the small icons...
HAllo,
I have the same problem...i found these files in windows directory but the menu items "Delete" or "Cut" are disabled. What can i do? Thanks
petervbeck: Thanks but like Queenmercury I do not have the option to delete them. They are part of the ROM probably because I have a HTC TyTn II. Any program that I can use to remove unwanted ROM files?
xoxo
You can't delete because the files are in use by HTC Home.
Disable HTC Home in Settings -> Today and try again.
If it's still not working, try using TotalCommander to delete the files.
--> Sorry for wrong information: Solution see Post #10
I tried using Resco Explorer to delete. No luck. Error: Files are part of the ROM.
Let me make sure, on the HTC HOME screen you are trying to get rid of the "Contacts" tab (the one where you can assign phone numbers to little blocks)
I did it because I have an app called face contacts which works much better. lol
I just tried this and it works but you have to install a few other CAB files to get it to work.
go to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319308&highlight=home+customiser
Then follow the directions to install the HTC HOME CUSTOMIZER (HHC)
when you go to the set up on the bottom tabs in the HHC there is a tab for the HTC HOME "tabs"
It is there where you can add or take out specific tabs.
hopefully it works for you like it did me.
No, they just want to get rid of the little icon that attaches itself the the front of the contacts image when you assign a specific number, eg mobile instead of home.
I also tried disabling the home screen, deleted the icons with resco, but the icons were there again when I restarted the plugin.
Tried restarting device, and the files I got rid of were there again...
I have the opposite problem... I have the Favorite people tab checked so that it should be on my Today screen. No matter what I do, I can only get the today, weather, launcher, ringtones and musice tabs to show up. I would actually like the Favorite people tab on the today screen. I have the HHC program and have put contacts in, but still no tab showing up.

Is there a registry key I can edit to remove the picture?
"videocall" soft key replaced with the "contacts" shortcut? (CAB.FIX)
New rom 1.93.707.1, replaced the "contacts" soft key with the "video call"...
Can this be fixed via registry change and replace the "videocall" soft key with the "contacts" shortcut?
K
Theres a couple of other posts around for this but I dont think anyone could find a fix for it. I for one find it a nuisance as well!
Maybe I found a solution:
http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/showpost.php?p=1145559&postcount=4
Because my english is very bad, I hope somebody else can translate the info from german into english.
Start --> Contacts
I simply use Start Menu ---> Contacts instead.
Both take 2 clicks to get to contacts, hence we can't insist that one approach is better than the other.
Even in other phones (like my old Nokia N70) when you click on call button, it'll take you to list of dialled calls. Not to contacts. If you want to open contacts to make a call in N70, you'll have to click (ooops, press) the 'contacts' button on the home screen.
Here, the diamond takes u to recently dialled numbers when you click the phone link (or che call button). So it's the same.
+ it'll automatically list contacts after the end of dialled calls.
you can rotate your finger around central round button for scrolling.
Hence I should say this is indeed a feature, not a bug.
Anyone tried the reg fix, does it work?
It is not al reg-fix, it's a 3 Files-Fix
People are lazy, many downloads but only one report, a user in the german ppc-welt-forum reports it works fine with "mossis-rom" (a cooked german rom).
I self use the fix with the HTC 1.93-ROM and i found no problems so far.
But where is the risk? If there are any problems, delete the three files, softreset your diamond and everything will remain unaffected.
From GOOGLE
"AW: In video mode phone call disable

Quote:
Quote from SYD
The video call I would like against the "contacts replaced.
Please someone knows the registry entry so that I can change.
Unfortunately, this is a Reg-entry is not done, the softkey is a DLL "Hartverdrahtet."
Possibly. This is a solution to the problem (I'm still the only "beta testers" - therefore experience needed!):
HotFix order at O2 or HTC Diamond with the firmware 1.93 the softkey again to video call back to confirm contacts:
http://rapidshare.com/files/154176504/Phone193_fix2.zip
Attention:
I have all the popular variations, incoming call, outgoing calls, switch on Hold / speakerphone so tested and so far no errors are detected, but nothing goes beyond a broad "field test" - so please post experience.
Application:
The zip and unzip the three files (excluding the Info.txt) in the Windows directory, then reboot the Diamond.
Undo:
The three files and delete the Diamond restart. If the deletion is not possible, helps the following trick: The three rename files (eg with vorrangestelltem "_" So from phcanhtc.dll _phcanhtc.dll), the Diamond restart - then the files can be erased"
Works for me
@Martinhdk: Funny translation ;-)
The fix works for me (German Xda Diamond pro).
You have to replace 3 ROM files because the soft-key is hard-coded in a dll.
You may have to stop cprog.exe (the phone) in a good task manager to remove the lock on the files.
I've just reflashed a stock 1.93 ROM to my phone and applied the three files contained in the .zip file and confirm that it works! No more Video Call softkey on the phone!
Now if someone can turn those files in to a cab that would be brilliant!

You could try this cab I made of the relevant changes. Remember to soft-reset afterwards.
EDITED ON 29/12/2008: NB this cab does not work if you are using the Slide to Answer/Ignore Phone Canvas (see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=464286), as although it restores the Contacts softkey it disables the slide to answer functionality.

Since we don't have a common source of this new TF3D and every cooks have it's own implementation. I think it's better to centralize the bugs and fixes discussion to collects all the brain power/knowledge here to get this puppy stabilize.
Current base: TF3D2 from Topaz rom
Read the following rules before you filed a bug:
This thread is not about how to install TF3D and assume you got TF3D installed and working
This thread is intended to get TF3D working as what it should be. Go somewhere else for Mod/Customization, and how to do this and that.
Make sure you got Opera 9.5 installed as many features rely on it.
Read the existing list first before you file a new one.
Only report reproducible bug w/ details/steps to reproduce (Don't report any random crash/bug that you cannot even reproduce it)
You are welcome to report any existing bug that is not happening on you so that we could look into the diffs
Fixed Bug list (fixes in the attached zip file):
TF3D show HTC logo but won't start: Missing htcDutils.dll
Camera button don't start: Use the Camera package from Rhodium
"My contact card" in setting is not working / call history crash ..etc: Missing httpclient.dll
"Use Camera" in "Edit Contact Card" brings up video recording instead of picture taking: Set HD Camera Apps as the default camera apps.
"Sim card not ready" error for SMS message (call history > call entry > Messages tab): Missing CommManagerDll.dll
"Key Lock" status is not saved after soft-reset. Fixed w/ latest Rhodium packages (don't remember exactly which). Current workaround is change it in registry.
Existing bug list:
Sms reader tab can show only 25 messages (I cannot confirm it since I don't have that many SMS msg)
TF3D Panel is not working. PM Pubba already to see if he could help

Bxsteez, that's right. U can rename Skype.exe to camera.exe to have it called Skype instead in the Photo & Camera tab.
Ok cool. I have another little thing i want to do if someone can make me the cab.
If i'm reading the files in the keyboard package correctly we can actually edit how the keys are mapped and how hardware recognizes them. There is a file that is called et9.rhodium.wwe.kmap.txt that basically seperates each row of keys and tells u what happens when u press the funciton key. If someone still has the keyboard cab that was removed we can test out my theory.
**EDIT**
I found the cab and it looks like i was right. We might have a nice keyboard fix coming soon.

Thx mate, but I mean the contact tab which makes some problems. Itje said, that he fixed this issue.
Well I think its fairly apparent that M$ is not going to make a newer style native dialer for 6.5 so we may be stuck with the same dialer from the WM5 days.
Is anyone willing to redesign the layout of WM dialer? We have several different skins, but I think a new layout is whats needed for 6.5, perhaps to mimic the HTC dialer, or perhaps different.
Any takers?
Edit: I will update the first post and add in everything that we can come up with for easy access. Thanks to all who support.
+1 for this. Not sure if the layout can be chnged yet, but maybe some skin to make it look changed. Is there some existing skins for this somewhere already?

+1 for the layout change though. There is some unused space at the top that I don't like. The number buttons are not quite finger friendly either. IMO.
Maybe we coud post a zip with all the stock images and reg entries to make it easy on skinners. Can someone put together a zip with all of this stuff and Adam can link it in first post?
I will most likely have a look at this too, but busy at the time being. I'd like to make it look like the HTC dialer, and then go from there.
Not sure if this is the same dialer, but there are a few skins for stock dialer at www.skinzone.org. They were from 6.1, so not sure if they would still work.
EDIT: I gathered up the images real quick, but didn't get the registry yet. Let me know if you think I missed an image.

Edit: After thinking about it, we may get better coverage if this was moved to the Development and Hacking forum.
I wish they would make the dialer the same as how they have the dial pad for the lock screen...that would be sweet if somebody could make a skin or dialer like that:

Matt, what is the file attached. I noticed the different default theme pictures in the folders, but I am not sure how this file should be used. Is it a program that allows you to choose a theme? If so, which file to you run and do you run from pc over activesync or from the device itself?
If you extact it on your PC, the directories are for cooking and if you run the "make_cabs.bat" you should get a folder called cabs with installable cab files that will change the phone's skin. You need to soft reset to get the phone to use them after you install the cab (or copy the files over in Resco Explorer from the folder of your choice.)
(see attachments - I am using the Blue Drop theme)
big thanks

I hate to admit that the same happened for me. I ran it three times...then I thought about it. And I refreshed the window.
I doubt this is your problem, but I had to put it out there.
just to let everyone know, i am working on something, I'm toying with going with squared-off buttons (see 6.5 calc for an example) or the lockscreen-esque rounded buttons (similar to mpattman). should have some time this weekend to really polish it.
