call management app? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Can someone recommend good call management app?
Required functions:
Rejecting (best by showing busy status to the caller)
or directing to voice mail - all (or specified) calls except from address book
logging feature
PS Just recieved my kaiser today

I remember seeing SPB Software House (www.spbsoftwarehouse.com) has something of the sort. SPB Phone Suite I think?

Novomobile Smartfilter Pro, or Photo Contacts (pocketx I think) will both do this based on criteria you set, you might also search the forum here for call firewall. That one is a freebie.

Search for callfirewall in this forum...

I have been using Magicall for some time now and love it. Able to block private numbers, send automated sms with individual messages to groups on your phone and even auto reply to sms's with individual messages to categories or certain contacts. Try it

yeah i also use call firewall, to narow down ur search try the development and hacking forum

SPB Phone Suite does provide blacklist/whitelist capabilities and reply with SMS (among other things).
It is a paid program, so if you're looking for free solutions, this isn't it.

Installed call firewall
free and not bloated with useless features
thanks everyone.

Afternoon !!!
I have a MDA Compact IV & I am looking for the best hopefully ( free ) tool to manage my calls & text messages.
Have previously owned Nokia's & Sony's I am used to being able to set up caller group's & set up profile's on my phones.
The Compact does not seem to allow you to do this !!
Is there a way of doing this I have over looked or a software package you would recommend?
Thanks

I was using that also. But if you are on a call when an rejected number comes in it will disconnect both calls.
I'm currently using magicall and it works great.

MagiCall is fantastic app.

Call & SMS filtering software req'd

I would like to get hold of either freeware or commercial (not too expensive)application to go on my XDAIIi to enable me to stop incomming calls/SMS/MMS from specified phone numbers. I would appreciate anyones advice on which are the best applications that will enable me to do this. Obviously being a XDAIIi it must be 2003SE compatible.
Call & SMS Filter
I personally use Call & SMS blocker it can create list the person who you want to can contact/can't contact. Give it try:

I am using MagiCall. It is the best.

Voice Texting????????

has anyone found or heard of a cab for voice texting, i found this website but its for nokia phones http://www.softwaremarket.nokia.com/?action=productDetails&pID=3304&pmsid=254&lang=en
i think this app would be cool if ur driving, ifind it difficult to text when driving especially with the tilt. any cabs out there?
You want Palringo. It does just that. IM and Voice IM.
have u tried it on ur tilt?
From the makers of Dragon Naturally Speaking, http://www.nuance.com/voicecontrol/. Or try this Google search, http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=mobile+voice+to+text.
There was an application supplied with iMate JasJar's sold in the UAE by a company that came from Dubai.
Sorry but can't remember that far back what it was called (age ya know!)
It provided Extended SMS with colour/font changing, drawing and voice clip capabilities. It would only work if both parties had the SW installed.
Biggest drawback (and why its no longer available I think) is that the multiple SMS's required to carry voice data were more expensive than dialling someone's voice mail!!! Funny really...
I've Googled but there doesn't appaers to be anything suitable around at the moment.
i tried google...but that app for nokia phone looks like it works well any one kno if i can work on the tilt? and y does palringo ask for my mobile #?
You might try jott.com.
Does this work with AT&T Tilt 8925?
Should do!
It looks to me like a standard subscription service where you ring them and a little old lady types it in on her keyboard and sends it out as a text for you! (or is it the other way around?)
Not found an actual voice app but seen a nifty little SMS app that tags on nicely to the Kaiser called XMS from Imaginet.
http://www.imaginet-software.com/index.aspx?p=xms
Gives you full smileys and coloured handwriting but the flaw is the recipient also has to have it installed. Good job its 'Buy one get on free then!'
Ignore the 'up to CE2005' as it works perfectly.
Nuance not available for purchase!

Palringo works great on my Tilt. I'm using it right now to talk to a guy with Voice IM. Have also done text (standard) IM.
www.palringo.com

Palring is a free program? I can use it free ?
I have to pay something when i use it?
Palringo is an Instant Messaging package similar to MSN Messenger but also has voice.
No text to speech.
So you just register and it uses a data connection (phone or WiFi) the data call is the only cost so far.
but only to other Perlingo contacts? you can't use it to voice text anyone else?
It does not do 'voice texts' as such.
It's an IM client in its own right that can chat between its own members or any members on other networks such as MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ etc.
You can leave voice messages to other palringo users.
If you are wanting a package that sends voice over the standard SMS network then I think you will be out of luck as it would cost more in text messages to send the sound data than it would ringing.
Other alternative would be for someone to generate a Speach recognition package that writes your SMS and sends it out!
Why not send an MMS?? You can put voice clips on that!
yes voice to standard sms text message is what we (I) want. you're driving along and receive a text message. you want to just speak a short reply and send it rather than fiddling with the phone illegally to compose a message using the keyboard

Call Blocking on Tilt

Are there any good call/number blocking apps? I'm looking for one where you can train it as you go along. IE block private calls, a strange 800 num calls and block it etc..........
Only one I know is called Call Firewall (easy to find at a dozen pocketpc freeware sites). But I don't know what you mean by "training".
The only way to block calls that I've seen implemented is to use caller id and white/black lists. Your phone will still ring at least once in order for the caller id info to come through and then the app to compare it to the rules/lists.
How else would a phone do it on it's own? It cannot preemptively (presentiently ??) allow or disallow calls?

Yup! only your Network can do that if they provide the service.
Maybe this?
http://www.mobiion.com/magicall.html
spb phone suite
I have been using Magicall for more than a year now and works like a charm and with blocking sms as well as voice calls. You can even set your own criteria, number prefix, contact groups etc
Call SMS Blocker v. 2.4.1.779, Phonegate and magicall. All three are usefull for call and SMS blocking.

+1 for Magicall. It's a little expensive but it does the job perfectly. If you set it not to notify you, you won't even know it's blocked a call unless you manually check the logs.

Need Custom SMS/MMS Notification based on Contact

Hi.
I am a System Admin, as well as a member of a Rural Fire Brigade.
I need a way so that I can differenciate between different sources of SMS..
i.e. One contact is for missed pings to the servers - low priority, another is for servers down - higher priority, call out for the brigade - high priority and loud wake up tone
can anyone give me some advice on how to do this. I know I can do different ring tones for mobile calls but what about SMS contacts etc.
Many thanks for any help
Dave
I´ll need the same thing...
Once I used to have a sms chat software, but it corrupted messages often so I discontinued using it, I thing it was vito, but don´t remember
Well.. I don't know of any free solution for this.. but Electricpocket Ringo does this job very well.. it allows u to assing custom sms/ringtone to individual contacts and groups. No individual mms tone though..
maybe also magiccall will do what you are looking for
hey all~
i asked basically the same question recently. i was directed tot he freebie mortring, after fiddleing a lil (to make my own sounds work) i got it working pretty well
~j
hey all~
so i found what, in my opinion, is the best FREE text message (and call) custom tones program....
its called oist (google it as i don't have the link handy) and it allows you to set custom tones (wav format only) for:
calls
texts from unknown senders
texts from everyone
texts from specific numbers
sent text message tones
it can also forward sent notifications to another number
anyhows i tested a few different ones and this seems to work best!
~j
Still playing around with it, but I think oist will work.
Now I just have to make WAV files for everyone.
I found this also but does not work on my wm6.5 touch pro... I have version 1.4
am I doing something wrong?

[Q/REQ] SMS Anti-Spam/Blocker

I'm looking for an app that would allow me to build a blacklist of cellphone numbers and will block all SMS messages from those numbers.
Sort of like an AntiSpam for email, but without any filtering. Just a user-edited blacklist.
I've found many call blockers around the web, but nothing for SMS...
If anyone tested something of the sort, please let me know.
Thanks!
Try a search for Call Firewall.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307178
direct link. Highly recommended, worked really well for a friend who was being stalked/harassed by some guy.
This is a bit of a misnomer... Call and SMS blocking software can only "block" the call or sms after it has already been received by the phone. Think about it this way - your phone doesn't know there's anything there until it's already received it. The software simply keeps the user from seeing the call or message. Bottom line - at that point - you've already paid for the text message (or been deducted one if you have a certain number included). The only option is to call your provider who *might* have the ability to stop texts or calls from specific numbers.
I propose CallMgrPro. Search in this forum.
Although it is not free I have made good experiences with MagiCall. Check out http://www.mobiion.com/magicall.html
you can use kaspersky mobile security, which incorporate a spam module where you can put phone number in a white/black list.
Most providers will give you 2 options:
1) Deal with it
2) Block SMS all together
