Can anyone recommend a Profile app that allows for more detailed controls?
Specifically, I would like to send different volumes for different notifications. Currently, I can only set "Speaker Volume" and "Ring Volume". I would like to have separate controls for SMS volume, email, etc.
I think I had 4 separate volume controls on my Treo. (It's been 4 weeks since I left Palm and my memories are fading fast! Not lookin' back).

Try PhoneAlarm! I haven't used this program but I think it can do what you want. I may be wrong, however.
I have used PhoneAlarm and highly recommended.
For trial version www.pocketmax.net
Regards
I also highly recommend phoneAlarm. It is the first app I load on a new WM device and the first app I load after the occasional hard reset

Is it possible to assign a seperate ringtone for certain contacts? I have trawled through the user manual trying to find anything at on this but it shows nothing. I dont know whether this would require additional software to be installed or not so am looking for any pointers on this. I have tried to search on this subject but each time the results that come back are totally varied and dont mention this issue. Any help much appreciated

if you dont want extra software:
in the contact details, there is a field under mobile tel that says ringtone.
sadly you cant mute or set to vibrate only
but i think there is a prog (iirc phonealarm? someone verify on this please) that will do exactly that.
Yes. Phone alarm will do that. Doesn't do black list yet, but can also do separate tones for contacts SMS's..
Other alternatives....... Photo Contacts Pro (PocketX). Smartfilter Pro (Novosec),
But, as mentioned above, you can assign ringtones to specific contacts.
Hi Toufas, tha's exactly what I was looking for. Many thanks, if thats in the user guide, I must need better specs
i assigned specific ringtones to some of my contacts but its this morning did i realize that the default ringtone still applies whenever those people call.
i have a 6.1 rom. do you guys think this is the problem??
I can recommend Ringo. You can set ringtones to your categories if syncing with outlook, set up specific message tones and customise with your own mp3, wavs etc...
So does "Ringo" or any similar software allow us to create a category of contacts (personal, business) and assign each category a ringtone?
Also, I have recently switched to PocketPCs. I have a Tilt phone running 6.1 cooked ROM. I should say, Nokia phones give a much better profile and call management options than these phones, hands down! Nokia gave me a silent button I could use to mute the ringtone but let the call continue. This is very helpful in case you forgot to switch it to silent and the phone suddenly ring. You don't always have to ignore the call. Can HTC Tilt do something like this?
Also, one more thing I miss is the vibrate + distinct beep sound Nokia phones have. That beep is heard even when you are considerably away from the phone, very nice sound. So I want to create a vibrate profile on HTC Tilt with a sharp beep sound. Can this be done?
Sorry for so many questions in this thread, but simply did not want to create a new one.

My TyTN II used to have a Silence button when I was running Garmin's DK.3 rom... I do not know about his new roms, but since I've started running AthineOS, I have lost the silence button... dont know yet if I personally miss it, but it means that it does exist...
I downloaded the latest version of phoneAlarm to provide different alerts for different e-mails (e.g. Sound loud alarm tone if e-mail from girlfriend, else don't make a peep, etc..).
I have read through the docs, and attempted to configure it but it seems to work very intermittently. All sorts of issues, like either it doesn't sound an alert, or it blinks the alert for a second but makes no sound, or it plays like 1 second of the alert tone but then dissapears.
Just wondering if anyone else uses the product for this purpose and if so how successful they are.
thanks
LOL welcome to the world of PhoneAlarm. Actually there are certain versions that work well and then there are some releases that really have issues. What version (Full or Lite) and what release of phone alarm are you running? I have had very good results from 1.61.1(#176) if you cannot find it on the PocketMax site let me know and I will post it. I use it daily for work.
-McMex
let me know if you can post it. i've downloaded the full version from pocketmax and i'm having problems as well. i need it specifically for work when i can not always hear the phone the first time.
This version has never given me an issue I have not ever upgraded it works so well for me.

I use phoneAlarm too, but not exactly for the reasons given by you in the first post (sound loud alarm tone if e-mail from girlfriend...). I use it for the automatic profile changes based on time of the day and based on appointments. It works flawlessly...
Now I will try for what you are using it for, and let you know.
(So, if you give me your girlfriend's number/email, I will set it to ring loud and let you know if it works )
I've been searching the forum but can only find volume changers for the standard "Volume" function of the phone, where as i want one which controls alot of volumes or just specific phone-based volumes (that made sense?)
Basically voice commander / tomtom 7 etc really need the phone volume to be set on max (plus the application on max), which is fine.. until i send a text message & everyone in the house gets woken up by a PONGPONG!!!!! sound & i have to change my shorts.
So i need to keep swaping the volume up & down, i know this sounds like a silly thing to be bugging me but omg it does!
Is there anyway to set program specific volumes?
or any other way that'll solve my problems, just to shut up the phones OS based sounds so they play at a tolerant volume rather than so loud my ears bleed.
well, you can set the master volume to high, and disable all the sounds and notifications you dont want. OR craft up your own sound using a sound editor and tweak it to have less volume, then map it to whatever notification u desire to have a sound.

Hmm yeah i had thought of that but its alot of work, was kinda hoping someone could just say "Download this, problem solved"
Check out a program called TomTom Started located over at FreewarePPC.com. It will automatically max out your volume when you launch TomTom, and turn if back down when it closes.
For future reference, I found this answer by searching "tomtom set volume to max" using XDA's Google search engine.
Hello. Here is what I am looking for and maybe my Fuze can already do this, but I can not figure it out.
I would like to have more control of the phone profile options like I used to have on my Blackberry phones. Basically I want to be able to make custom profiles.
For example. With my old phones I was able to use an "advanced" feature in the phone profile section to create what I called a "night" setting. When this setting was activated the entire phone was on silent (texts, emails, etc, everything was silent) EXCEPT the phone, which would ring if I received a call. So it was basically a "phone only" setting. This was perfect at night because I would only receive a call if it was a real emergency.
Or let's say I want EVERYTHING to vibrate EXCEPT the phone that I want to ring. On my Fuze I see how to put the entire phone on "vibrate" or "silent", or "normal", but how do I adjust those profile settings if I want to or create new profiles
Is there a program/script/plugin that will accomplish this? Or can I already do it on the phone?
Thanks for any help with this.
i am looking for something like this too so if anyone knows of a program that does this or can make one that would be really awesome.
phoneAlarm from pocketmax.net is the program you want.
You can create several different profiles controlling everything from ring and alarm tones to backlight level to WiFi status and automate switching between each of them based on time, appointment, location...
Though written as a Today screen plug-in, there is a TouchFlo support mode that lets you run TF as well.

dgduris, thank you for the info. I am going to go check it out now to learn more. I am currently using spb Mobile shell. Does it work with this program?
thanks again for the info. I will report back what I find and how it works!
How does phonealarm support TouchFlo? I used to use phonealarm with my 8525. But with my new Fuze, I've been trying out SBSH Phoneweaver. Which seems to be working well enough. It has a pop-up profile screen menu overlay that I set to one of my buttons.
spb phone suite was the answer for me. really a nice program.
does spb phone suite mess with the Touch Flo? and my manila? i dont want to have the entire SPB thing show up in my home screen. I want to it to be like an app where i can just open it and chang I just want to be able to change profie profiles and then close it again.
I believe it will be in your profiles or setting list and it does not mess with TF3D. It works great with my Mobile Shell touch screen settings also.
Hi folks
I'm just curious as to what alarm applications you guys are using. I'm find the built in "Clock & Alarms" to be somewhat limited as it only allows for 3 alarms.
I would like something similar to it, but to be able to easily add new alarms, and maybe even customize the ringtone/vibrations for them individualy, if possible.
Thanks for your interest

You won't find anything better than G-alarm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422362
I use the alarm functionality in MortPlayer.
It has the advantage of turning the volume up and launching itself (obviously).
This leaves my phone ready to resume playing the podcast or audio book I was listening to the night before with just one button press.
This affords me another 30 seconds in bed ;-)

I've tried them all, and for me, the best is phoneAlarm, PERIOD!!!
SPB Time
While not free, it is a nice option. Very easy to use.
After trying Mobile Shell, I tried just about everything else the SPB house has put out. Some I tried and deleted, like the lame SPB Online, this is one I kept.
i second G-alarm. nice if you are looking for a free program.
pTravelAlarm
I also agree that G-Alarm is one of the best. You can set multiple alarms for reoccurring times and days. Also, you have to make a ball run through a maze before you can hit the "Snooze" button. It kind of forces your mind to wake so you dont just roll over, hit a snooze and fall back asleep
Also, it also automatically turns the volume to max even if its on silent. Handy feature if you do like I do and leave your cell on silent all of the time when working, then forget to turn it back on later

Here's a good one, too.
SPB Time
Like someone said earlier: Since I use Spb Mobile Shell, I found that Spb Time is perfect. It includes an optional today plugin and can be a tab in Mobile Shell. It lets you set one-time alarms, recurring alarms and you can set specific sound files to each one (can also set to vibrate and auto-snooze).
I still use pTravelalarm.

very good, and finger-friendly. installed all of the others mentioned above and winded up using this. Still happy.
