Best Comm manager to use with Kaiser - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi all,
I questioned my self, which version of the comm manager is best to use with the Kaiser. I've seen the default version, which came with the shipped rom. The 10 button version and the new 6 button.
Whats the difference between the 10 and the 6 button?

one version which u can actually switch off 3G and stay only on GSM mode

I've installed the 10 button comm manager now, and i think its functioning fine. Runnign on GSM modulation now. Will soon get my HSDPA access account.

Locking data to EDGE or GPRS only. NO 3G

Is it possible to lock out the 3G radio completely on the TILT?
Coming from an Apache on VZW, I was used to being able to change the ModeOfOperation Reg setting and completely locking out the EVDO if I needed to preserve my battery life.
I've tried a number of things on the TILT, but I am not sure which (if any) get me what I want.
I've tried the disableing MEdia Net via KaiserTweak, but when I was in a 3G area it prevented any data connection saying the connection was not allowed (or something similar).
Disabling HSDPA I don't believe is the key either since that is download only.
Again just looking to lock the phone at EDGE/GPRS only. E icon.
**Been Googling
Running the stock ATT ROM, I don't see a BAND page in Settings/Phone/... I've tried exposing it with Schaps Adv. Config Tool, but I still don't see it. I am guessing there is more to exposing this tab than just a reg.
Is BandSwitch the only way?
if u use the 10 button com manager with the 3g switch i would link it but not got time as im at work but search it will be easy to find
Ok I found the 10 button manager on the CABS sticky ...
file name: Kaiser.CommManager.10Button.3GCAB.cab
Are there any known bug/issues with it?
Any TILT issues with it?
I see a few people in an old thread talking about "getting it to work"
I also see Dutty's copy on his FTP site ... "duttythroy 3g comm manager (working).cab"
can anyone comment?
Hi, I use the 10 button com manager on my TyTNII (german stock HTC ROM) and it worked without any issues right after installation.
Greetz,
Hans Olo
EDIT: maybe a soft reset was needed after installation, I can't remember
Ditto - i use it - installed no probs and does what it says on the box so to speak. I have an orange version
try this:
at phone settings /band tab/ change the upper "Auto" to GSM.

This does not show up on my AT&T Stock Rom. Very strange. I do have the 10 button comm manager but it would be nice to do some troubleshooting using the stock WM screens/settings.

I second that. I do not have this option on my Tilt with the stock rom. Anyone know what's up with that?
Well I used "duttythroy 3g comm manager (working).cab" from the cabs FTP site in the sticky here.
At first it told me the install was not successful because there was an issue with "system permissions". Thinking it was the the CAB itself I tried the other 10 button I found "Kaiser.CommManager.10Button.3GCAB.cab, but got the same.
I did a soft reset, then tried Dutty's again and it worked fine. It required another soft reset after install.
It replaces the stock comm manager with one that looks like it could be from a Touch (from the icons). Works fine and includes a 3G button that was lit. When I tapped the button the icon went dark, the radio looked like it did a little reset (since it went to no signal ... like flight mode) and 10-15 seconds later it came back up locked at EDGE.
Perfect! Thanks for the guidance getting there.
As for those of you with AT&T stock ROMS, AT&T probably had the BAND page removed/hidden in their version. Why? Who knows.

Kaiser Tweak problems when updated to new ROM version no HSDPA now!

keiser tweak.
I installed it before and it worked great. Then updated to the newest rom version 1.62.502.0 and now the laptop network isn't pulling up when I start internet explorer. It used to work fine and would jump to the highspeed network right away instead of the 3g network. I checked the settings and it's enabled and looks like it did before...
I'm thinking they did something in the new rom to disable the network from being accessed. Can I go back to the old version if this is the case?
The person who cooked the ROM you used monitors their own ROM thread.
NIKAGL monitors the Kaiser Tweak thread. Personally - if you would like an answer I would pick ONE of those (NOT BOTH) and post a note there or ask the MODS to move this to the thread of your choice (you will have to tell them what ROM you loaded as the mind reading service has been discontinued on this board due to the fact that it did not seem to work. )

I think it would be on the disk that came with the phone but I don't see it. I hate the 3g network..and using the faster network was so damn......... COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Switching from T-Mobile to ATT? Help Please

I just got a Diamond last week and have been using it on T-Mobile in the United States, and it's great and all but I don't think I ever got Data to work... But that's irrelevant now, because my family just suddenly switched my plan to ATT after being on T-Mobile for 10 years, so now I need to switch my Diamond to an ATT network. I put the SIM card in, and the Diamond asked me if I wanted to change settings and I said yes. I restarted the phone, but I still can't get a connection, I have no service. Please help -- what should I do to get this phone going for calling and texting, and then switching my old number over? I'm not concerned about Data just yet.
Try running the Connection Setup wizard again. Mine worked fine on ATT after it automatically configured it.
Yeah I tried running it again, still nothing. Next to the little signal indicator, all I've got is the exclamation point. Do I need to somehow delete old settings?
One thing I've done after flashing and after the setup has run is change the following: Settings/Personal/Phone/Band -- Set network type to GSM, and band to UMTS(850+1900)+GSM(850+1900). I'm not sure if it makes a difference though, and I don't really know what settings the Connection Setup changes. Maybe the band settings will work for you?
That was the first thing I tried. I just got off the phone with ATT for 2 or so hours, and their solution was to visit a local store. I'm going to try this tommorow. In the mean time I'm stuck using some LG free phone

t-mobile to ATT
I just went from t-mobile to att.
i just popped the att sim card in and it configured it to att automatically. I also updated the rom which allows you to get a GREAT signal with att. Before the update ROM my signal was spotty. Where i got 1 bar i get 4 now.
Good luck ...it should work. But!!! no 3G....however its fast enough for me for what i use it for. IM very happy with my Diamond.

That's just what the setting says ... the last part of it (GSM 850+1900) is what gets used.
DrSilvermorm, you might want to try flashing the 1.93 ROM with the .05 radio. It'll only take you 15 minutes, instead of hours for the store. I went from 1-2 bars to 4 bars in some areas with the radio update, and my connection is more stable than it was in 1.37.

Umm, no, a setting doesn't "just say" UMTS 850/1900... The Diamond has been advertised with the new 850mhz GSM band, but everywhere it says it only has 900/2100mhz UMTS band. For there to be a setting for 850/1900 contradicts everything we've seen about the Diamond.

It was discovered a couple weeks ago that the Diamond is actually quad band, and that the original ROMs had simply locked the 850 band (for reasons only known to HTC). The first hint of this was the release of the 1.93 Hong Kong ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410720
The setting for GSM 850+1900 does in fact work.
Well, it only said this in my settings, I wasn't actually getting UMTS or GSM, for that matter. I went to the ATT store today and they were very impressed to see my Diamond the employee ran to the back to show his manager. I told them about my dilemma and they said that in Cincinnati (where I live), ATT runs exclusively on the 850 band.
I figured, duh, all I need to do is flash my ROM like so many of us have done to enable 850. I shouldn't have expected it to work, depsite what it says in my phone's settings, because I have yet to flash my ROM at all.
However, I am totally new to Windows Mobile and flashing ROM presents an even bigger challenge to me. All this talk about hardSPLs and cooked ROMS and .NET frameworks has gotten me very confused. I couldn't even get Windows Mobile Device Manager to install properly last week when I was on T-Mobile and trying to install some emulators, so naturally, I'm very frustrated . I'm very tempted to just sell my Diamond and go get an iPhone 3G, but I think I still have not lost hope yet.
Is there a comprehensive, step-by-step guide for flashing my ROM to a 850-enabled version with vista that anyone could point me to? This would be very very much appreciated! I don't want my $700 investment to go to waste so soon.
Edit: After using the excellent "search" feature of these forums (sorry forum veterans) I have found I promising guide that I will employ shortly, found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406968. I will let you know of the results when I am done. I think I am going to try to flash to the ROM that GeckoDev recommended, if I can find it. Thanks friends!

That's NOT my question! I'm 100% aware the ROM has unlocked 850mhz GSM, we've been over this a million times. But 850/1900mhz UMTS is for 3G, and I've never seen a Diamond working with 3G in the states. THAT's what I'm asking about, the GSM bands have never been a question.
Well Silverworm, good luck. If this is the site you found in that thread, this is the one I've checked out when learning how to flash ROMs.

Yup, that's the one, thank you. So far though I haven't been able to get past the Hard SPL step though. Every time I run the ROMUpdateUtility all I manage to do is soft-reset my phone and get ERROR: 260 CONNECTION on the utility. I can't get past 0% on the update utility, and it tells me I should check to see if it's plugged in. It is indeed plugged in, directly to my laptop, and not to my USB hub. It is even able to tell me what my current ROM is, so I don't see how it can question whether or not the Diamond is plugged in. What am I doing wrong?
I establish ActiveSync everytime I plug my Diamond into my laptop, but there was one note in the how-to guide that was peculiar to me: *Make sure the activesync icon is be green (finished synchronizing). On my windows vista business OS, I don't see an activesync icon in my system tray, even though I establish activesync everytime I plug in my Diamond. Is this part of the problem? If so, what should I do?
I've tried both Olipro's 1.20 and Des's CrashProof SPL. Both had the same problem. Also, I couldn't successfully enter the bootloader to check my SPL. The guide said to press the power, camera, and reset buttons at once, but there is no camera button to my knowledge. I searched on the forums and somewhere else I read that you just need to press volume down and reset, but for the few times I tried this this just soft-reset my Diamond...
As for your question about why it has 850 UMTS as an option as my settings, I have no idea, and I am sure it will not work because I can't even get the regular 850 band working. But this is what it says. If you really like, I can post a picture.
I tried searching in the forums, but I can't find anyone with my same problem. If this has already been resolved, a link would be very much appreciated.
I'm still having the same problem everytime I try to run ROMupdateutility -- all it does is reset my phone, then tells me error 260 -- that my phone is not connected, and that I should check the USB. Why does my phone keep resetting?
Again, I am using Windows Vista Business 32 bit, and the phone is plugged in directly through the laptop. Please please help, I really do not want to sell my phone, if I can help it.

I had a problem like this with vista. I went to start-> settings-> connections-> usb to pc (on the phone) and unchecked 'enable advanced network functionality'. Unplugged the usb cable and plugged it back in, worked like a charm.

I tried this, and it still just soft-resets. Thank you very much for the suggestion, though. Any other ideas?
Also still having trouble running the bootloader, how do I do this? Is it a crucial step, or only necessary for checking which SPL I have?

MDA Compact IV Question (Memory / Power Settings / Radio Version)

I finally got my hands on a Compact IV from T-Mobile over the weekend and so far am fairly happy with the device;
ROM Version: 1.37.110.3 WWE
ROM Date: 06/20/08
Radio Version: 1.00.25.03
Protocol Version: 52.26a.25.09U
I have a few questions though that I don't seem to be able get answers for and would like your help.
1) Low Memory.
After installation of a only a couple of applications to the storage card, I have started receiving low memory messages. After a quick dig around I have moved the Opera cache and reinstalled google maps to the storage card but that still only leaves me 11MB out of a possible 85MB.
2) Power Settings.
Does this device turn off the Wi-Fi when it goes into standby? If so how can I prevent it from doing this? What happens is, when I wake my phone from standby, I see the the data connection icon (either H, 3G or G) and then after a couple of seconds the Wi-Fi icon reappears.
Whilst I obviously am grateful of the power saving it is causing havoc with Windows Live Messenger and other internet applications. This was never a problem with my S710, whenever I wondered out of the house the Wi-Fi would get disconnected and the data connection would pick up, WLM would re-sync and away I went.
3) Radio Version.
I have the stock T-Mobile ROM on my Compact IV. Is this the best radio version? If not then would it be advisable to flash the radio to a newer version? Would this improve signal strength?
Suggestions and advice is all greatly appreciated.
Guy
Can you find out what spl version you have. I know this is off topic but it will be useful If i have to return mine for warranty.
Now T mobile roms stock do put a lot of stuff that you dont really need hence why its eating up your memory or storage. Im not sure but not many stick with the stock rom. Its slow and I hate the colours. I changed mine after 20 miins of getting my phone
Any particular method for finding that out?
May I ask which ROM you flashed with and what advantages it has?
Thanks

Well the advantages are huge of flashing. More Ram free, more storage free , A hell of a lot faster its unimaginable. Im usuing Duttys v1.6 at the moment. But if you are to flash you need hardspl to insure your device wont get bricked. I use Jocky 1.24 hardspl. Read the stickys to find out more
And there is a wifi on/off in standby option in the wifi settings.

Thanks for the info. The wireless settings I think he means are on custom roms not T mobile Stock. You can always try Diamond Tweak if you dont want to flash to another rom to tweak your stock one
I think I might try the latest standard htc one and see what that's like. I wanted to run as stock as possible for a while before flashing with tuned customers rom.

no.It's not possible
all the 2010 opals are chine (mine is made in china)

I do agree with Zeus. It is hardly plausible that your Opal has no WiFi capabilities. You may either hard reset it or install a fresh ROM.
your phone is not genuine htc touch viva...
it's china phone dopod..you only said..
then may be there's no wifi

Thanks,
