Hi
I have quite a lot of folders in my Exchange mailbox that hang off the Inbox. I also have server side rules that move incoming mail into the relevant folder when it arrives, however the "new mail" notification in the Home screen only shows new mail in the inbox, rather than new mail in another folder. Can this be configured anywhere?
Apologies if this has been covered before - I did try searching but to no avail.
Cheers
Phil
Yes, I need this too. Anyone?
Thinking about the Exchange rules, is there not a way you could add a condition to the server-side rule so that it only sorts the emails into their correct subfolders AFTER they're marked as read? That's the only workaround I can think of for now (and having only used a Kaiser for about 25 minutes, I don't have much of a point of reference).
I hadn't thought of that, but having just had a quick play with the Rules wizard in Outlook it doesn't look like you can control it to that degree. It's a shame because that would work. If anyone can correct me that I would be only to happy to try it out. Failing that, does anyone else know if it is possible to change the Pocket Outlook behaviour so that new mail in sub-folders triggers the New Mail... info?
Cheers
Phil
Does anyone have any other ideas?
In the menu, select 'tools>manage folders...'. You'll be able to select the folders you want to synchronize.

No, there will be no notification if a new mail in other folder then inbox arrives. Tried that
Anyone else?

Go to PocketMax.net and submit this as a feature request to the author of PhoneAlarm - I asked him for the same thing and he's willing to pursue it if there's enough interest.
PhoneAlarm's custom e-mail notifications make up for a LOT of the missing DirectPush functionality, IMO - and this would be a huge help in that area!

Thanks for the suggestion, but this doesn't have any affect on the new mail notification. Ta though.

Agreed! I think PhoneAlarm is worth the $$$ even without this, but it'd be a HUGE win *with* it!

At minimum, 5 fiddly clicks from the Today screen to editing a new SMS.
Anyone know a good short-cut?
Please ignore me...
Just found this thread on page 2:

thanks!
this already have an open thread with 2 cabs in it I perfer the cab I posted but anyway try searching first next time buddy!
You may want to check out PocketCM. I love the interface and the Threaded SMS view. Very simple and clean.
You simply click contacts, click the contact and then click SMS. there you will see all sms conversations (which you can scroll) your messages are a different color then the contacts and a text input area at the bottom where you just start typing and click send.
I know this isn't what you were talking about but i have gotten very use to this and found it much faster after using it for a couple of months.

As I mentioned in one of the other threads, what I do is start with the contact... from the Today screen, click contacts, select your contact whichever way you like to do, then select "send text message". You're now at the point of editing a new text message. Since all the steps you did to select a contact you would have had to do anyway, those clicks were all "free". This is actually much shorter than if you had the "new" command that people are clamoring for.
Description: Were you a Treo 650 user? Miss the old threaded "Chat Style" of the text messages? Well, you don't have to be sad any longer! With the SMS Threader application, you can now send and receive your text messages just like you used to! The program will even automatically open even if it's not running! All threads are automatically backed up as HTML files, for easy viewing on any machine!
PS - If the program does not function correctly after installation, your device may need a soft reset.
Thanks, i'will give it a try.
looks good, fonts is a bit small on the message text and can't see a way of making it larger
I have had a couple of crashes when trying to select the message thread with my stylus (which did not open it) and by then using the action button.
I have been after this app for ages so thanks for the post
Paul
great to see SMSs like IMs, its the application I never knew I needed.
Only prob is the character counter doesn't seem to count the characters, staying at "0/160" even when a message is typed.
Also, annoyingly when in a convo the "X"/"OK" button is not present, forcing you to click Options >> Close to exit the convo. Though there seems to be options to "close after response" etc so this might not be so annoying
PocketCM also does a similar thing and in my opinion has a great interface. A must have application IMHO (http://www.pocketcm.com/)
True, the way this is done in Pocketcm is really good. I used it for a while but the rest of the program isn't what i expected from a good contact manager.
I have been using shogunmark_wm6_threaded and it has been perfect so far.
How do these compare to IMSMS, which I find works very nicely -
@argoldst
palm threaded app working perfectly on kaiser? did u manage to make mms feature to work? which rom are you using? would be great to get this all working
After a nights use of the OP app I found it to be a little annoying, for the following reasons:
1. Constant notification alerts in the top bar, even when I have read the thread. This means your constantly "dismissing" an alert, just to see if the thread has been updated with a new SMS
2. The alerts didn't popup over my full screen app (TomTom) which was annoying as I had to minimise TomTom just to check if I had a SMS or not. Default notifications popup over full screen apps AFAIK.
3. All new message go into the thread, but not into the Default Messaging list, so attempts to bypass it are impossible.
Think I will try some of the other threaded SMS apps listed here.
Am I the only one only looking for a little program that automatically threads all my EXISTING SMS's?? Everybody talks about these SMS Threaders that only thread SMS's sent within that program.
CMContacts is better; it looks at my existing SMS database but I do not need another contacts app (FingerFriendlyFriends is THE BEST contact manager for my purposes...) on my Kaiser!
The best solution would be a sort of a threader-plugin on the existing messaging-application, but as far as I know that does not exist...
Just my 2cts!
Does it transfer the sms's already in your inbox to the threaded program? Or does it not? Does it replace your inbox as the Palm Messaging app, or does it only add a new app? Thx
I cant find "CMContacts" anywhere
Do you have a link to this "CMContacts" software?

the version i downloaded automatically sets your defeault SMS to the palm one, and it replaces my old inbox with the new palm one. Basically i installed it and it became my default SMS application automatically. Only downside to palm threaded app is that you cant use on-screen key boards very effectively, they all cover up the txt input box in a convo. message. Except when you write a new message.
and to Eddythepeddy: i believe it will thread all of your existing SMS...hmm could be wrong about this tho, for me it only threaded my sent messages

Sorry for the delayed reply. Yes, everything works perfectly including mms.
The only negative to it is that the txt will not thread until you reply. For examlpe, if you get in 4 sms from Jane but never replied, it will show up as 4 different sms. Once you reply, they will all fall into a single chat (threaded sms) and will stay like that. You ONLY have to reply once to get all future (and past) sms's to thread.

anything special you did to get mms to work correctly? I (and most people here) get a memory error when trying to send mms.
You can get all sms to thread regardless under options. There should be a setting to thread all messages.
I have done a search but found nothing on this.
I have set up access to my NTL/Virgin email account on the XDA Stellar and I want to have timed send/receive on my email throughout the day, but want to turn it on to manual when at home as I am usually on the PC so have regular send/receive through Outlook. Is there a way of creating a link to do this with a one touch on/off option rather than going into email options and trawling through the wizard every time?
Not a big issue but would be quicker if there was a button or link to do this on the fly.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

NguyenHuu thanks for that. It isn't exactly what I was looking for but is as close as possible at the moment. Its just a shame that altering the schedule on email synchronisation is so awkward having to go through the wizard every time - a direct link to that part alone is what is needed.
The programme you pointed to is very interesting and provides some good control features for email.
Thanks again.
I have found exactly what I wanted - after a long search.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332960
This programme does exactly what I wanted by adding a applet to adjust the send/receive schedule without having to go through the email account setup every time. Added a shortcut to the start menu so all sorted now, thought I would post in case someone else was also looking for a solution.

No problem, hope you find it as useful as I am finding it.
up-date
Having used both rk-OSR and Auto Email Checker I have found that both seem to work ok for the first email check in the schedule and after that you either need to initiate a manual send/receive with Auto Email Checker or wake-up the phone for rk-OSR to work. So end result is that I am back to editing the email account to switch on and off email sheduling.
Any one else found the same problem with these two promising looking programmes?
I am using the O2 Stellar with stock rom.
When you view emails in manilla (the header in the envelope) the email count does not change, you have to open them in the inbox before they are marked as read, which i suppose is the correct way it should work.
But would it be possible to have the email count change just afer viewing them in manilla?
I get many emails (junk and other nonsense) that i can happy flick through in manilla and know i do not need to read them.
At the moment i have to open and every mail even if i have no interest in its contents?
..
I just delete them straight away from manilla if they are junk

That is great, especially because there is no option in Manila to delete them without opening it or the inbox.
How do you do that?
I dont think this is possible. The touchflo 3D display of email is only really meant to serve as a quick preview. You know.. you get a mail and want to see if its that important one you have been waiting for, so you can get the gist of it via touchflo 3D rather than thrawling through your entire inbox.

Yes I agree. Seems like they forgot to add the option to Delete or Marked as Read in the e-mail menu of Manilla. This is really and I MEAN REALLY annoying because I too can see if it's junk or if it's something i need to look at later through Manilla. I don't need the "unread msg count" consistently there in Manilla if I already looked at it in Manilla.
Please can someone fix this without having to burn a different ROM???
Thanks to all.
Hi,
Is there any way to select multiple people easily when sending out sms messages?
Thanks
when u write a texts and type the name in the "To:" box and then select the name, the phone puts ";" in and you able to add another name and so on
Hope this makes sense and is what you asked
Marty
Thanks for the reply, what i was reallyt after is there a way of selecting multiple contacts in one go. For example is there a way to pull up my contacts as a list with a tick box next to it, so i can jsut tick the ones i want to send it to, or do i have to select is one and then back to the main text screen, then add another person. etc
you may have to use a 3rd party app to be able to do group sms in that way.
Thanks Marty for the reply again, does anyone know of any third part apps that may be able to do this.
Thanks
