I just got my Tilt a few days ago, loving the phone. Then I found this forum, and saw all the cool mods, had to have them.
I wouldn't call myself a novice at this, I was able to flash a new rom to the phone without issue. Everything seems to work, except for email. I set up three accounts, .mac, gmail, and hotmail (.mac is the only one I use, but it wasn't working, so I tried the others).
What happens is I try to send/receive mail, and get an "error syncing" message, then I get a message that says "Cannot connect with the current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings."
The settings work fine to allow me on the 3G network to surf the web. I turned "Phone" off and used wifi to connect, email worked fine.
I can't seem to find the settings for AT&T to make sure what I have in the phone is right.
Any help please?
Change the network for each individual e-mail account from "The Internet" to "MEdia Net" in their options and see what happens.

I've tried the seraches, but no cigar...
A strange problem, I've set up my Gmail IMAP account, but when I try to send/receive, it gets stuck on "connecting..." (in the bottom right of the screen), then after about 2 minutes, it times out saying "Messages cannot be downloaded to your device..."
I'm able to connect via wifi flawlessly, so I'm thinking it may be a problem with my carrier (o2 uk)? I can access the internet fine, i can even go onto gmail.com and sign in from there, so I'm really confused...
My settings are as follows:
ROM: Dutty's 6.1
Radio: 1.58.16.27
WAP/GPRS settings:
o2 WAP
Cellular Line (GPRS, 3g)
payandgo.o2.co.uk
I've followed the gmail IMAP setup, checking for any spelling mistakes etc. But I don't think my problem is here, cos I also had this problem when gmail was setup for POP3.
Any help would be appreciated guys/gals.
I'm in the same boat but of a different size. I'm running Dutty's WM6.1 5.2.19199 with radio 1.58.16.27. When i flashed to this rom I hard reset before and after flash and begain to set up my device as normal. When i got to the email portion and set up my gmail accounts and tried to send/receive it does not even try to connect and gives me an error synchronizing. a few seconds afterwards a cannot connect bubble pops up and tells me to change my connection settings. I ran the connection setup that came with the rom and then double checked the settings and they appear no different than before when i could sync with gmail. I can connect to the internet just fine. I have searched(and used the search feature) but have found no answers.
Disregard.
Disregard my post above. Sometimes I'm just stupid.

When I had issues with my Sending and Receiving of Email I had to take off any proxies in my 3G Connection.
I had the same error message appear after setting up Gmail IMAP, it turned out to be a spelling error! Now it's working, I can send/recieve fine. Having said that, I can't get Gmail to download any folder content, it only downloads the inbox. I mean, the folders are shown, but there's nothing ever in them. Any ideas?
Off topic slightly, when people send mail through gmail have they notice gmail produces 2 sent messages for the 1 email.
1 has your email the other is blank?

I also notice 2 email, but both are ok (none is blank).
do you use another account using exchange server??
I have a different issue with gmail maybe someone can help me out. I have two gmail accounts set up and they send and recieve fine the only problem is that the next time is sends/recieves it deletes the previous mail that was there and only downloads new ones. Is there a way to keep all email in my inbox or does it always erase previously downloaded mail and just display new ones. I have it set up to Automatic Send/Receive every 30 minutes and to download All Messages...TIA...

I just wanted to thank you for this input. I was really getting frustrated with my first ROM Flash because I couldn't get my gmail to sync. Now its working but I now need to imap configured because it looks like its configured to POP3 automatically. Either way thanks JimmyMcGee
Hi, i am new to this forum. I am trying to get my gmail acct sync. But when i turn on my EDGE, i am able to surf on the internet, but i receive a msg on Error Sync. then i receive 0 msg. I set up the email acct like entering the username and password. didn't go through the POP3 stuff like that? Is that the reason? Or is there another software like outlook can do a better job at send & receiving emails? thanks for the help. I appreciate it.
Have you enabled Pop in your gmail account settings?
If you just want to have pop access it should auto-configure itself.
If you are trying to configure imap you may have to trick it into letting you at the settings. (At least I did).
Pop3 settings:

Well first of all, if you are trying to "sync" your gmail account, then POP3 isn't the answer. So if that's what you are really going for, then you should read this:
https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78886
i still receive the same error message, what should i do? i am sure i have my EDGE turned on, and i am able to surf the net. So i don't think is my internet connection's problem, however, i still receive the error msg "Cannot connect with current connection settings, to change your connection settings, tap settings" This is what i received. does anyone know what i should do to fix it? thanks
When trying to set up my Diamond to download my mail from btinternet.com, it uses the wizard to find the account type etc. However it set's it up as an IMAP4 account type which it is not, it is a pop3 account. According to the help on the phone there is supposed to be a check box saying "Attempt to obtain e-mail settings from the internet" which if unchecked would mean these settings could be inputted manually, this is not the case. This results in a synch error when sending and receiving. It is not possible to change the account type when I go into email setup, it's greyed out!
I am using tlr-diamond-2.08.07.01 rom and have advanced config installed.
Sorry for rambling on, my question is, is there any way of turning off the wizard via a registry fix or any way to give the phone the correct settings for btinternet?
Thanks in advance for any replies, I've tried searching but to no avail
This drove me mad too.....
When it asks for your email address, type something like [email protected]
It then bring up the checkbox, disable the auto get setting
complete the setup and then edit it
POP3 mail.btinternet.com
SMTP mail.btinternet.com
dont forget to change your username, password and email address
Fixed (or fudged)
Rik
Thankyou Rik
Cheers you're a diamond
That was driving me crazy.
Thankyou
Scott
smtp has stopped working on Internet Mail
I have configured Internet Mail (POP3 and SMTP), but suddenly the sending has stopped after working perfectly for two days.
I have reconfigured another account with the same settings, deleted the old email account, and it worked for a day and then the same problem arose. Has anyone else faced this problem? Can anyone figure what's happening?
Thanks in anticipation,
Ajit
Hey everyone,
I'm having trouble setting up an e-mail account on my Kaiser with AthineOS ME 3.0. After I set up an email account (Yahoo!), I do Send/Receive and a message pops up saying:
"Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings."
I have GPRS set up (Tmobile). Everything using internet works perfectly fine PIE, Opera Mini, Weather updates, etc. I even tried Wi-Fi, but says the same error. Also tried a different ROM (Hyper Dragon III), still no luck. Spent all day trying to get this to work.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
Anyone? Any ideas?
Try this to get your mail.

did you try the MMS/SMS setting tab...what are your settings? medianet, MyISP? I am sure the problem lies in there...is it one email account or several?
slawcop is quite right. i have this trouble when i update my roms. it's usually set to medianet, or something similar, you need to select your provider from the drop down box in the settings and you should be good to go.
Lately I've been having more and more trouble connecting to my email on the Tilt. It use to work just fine. I have it set up to use my Gmail account. When I go and hit send/receive it keeps on showing the screen saying check username & password. But when I shut off Data and use wifi it works flawlessly. Is this happening to anyone else? What's going on here? I used to have no problems connecting.
Anyone Anyone?¿?
search "remove hidden proxy" and download> Then check email options and make sure your password did not double up> install remove hidden proxy cab. You should be good to go.
