Hi all,
I have Nokia Bluetooth Car-kit CK-15W, in which one can download contacts to be shown on the device. This feature worked great on my E90, which I dumped due to various problems and overall disappointment on Nokia quality.
After I paired my Kaiser with this Car kit (sound quality is only fair to mediocre by the way) it doesn't allow me to download contacts.
Nokia supports "Phonebook Access Profile 1.0."
The question is, do I have any chance to have my HTC contacts shown on this car kit?
I already have tried to copy contacts to sim with "Sim manager" and enabled Remote SIM access via bluetooth.
Please help
Left it to see if anyone else would come back but the only info I can give you is as you know, MS and Nokia use different contact info protocols!
Nobody can send a Nokia contact sms to a WM phone and I would suspect that their BT protocols are the same! Soz mate.
Don't know if it's of any help, but I have the Nokia 610 kit (distant predecessor to yours, only offers RSAP connection) and it can only handle downloading SIM contacts. When active, it works fine for calls, but won't upload SMS's to the phone or download contacts from the main memory.
I've always had problems syncing Nokia's with Outlook on my PC, the fields just don't map correctly. Not a problem with any of the WM phones I've had, in fact to get contacts & calender updated on my last new Nokia took a couple of hours, with my Kaiser it was 10 minutes from pluging in to finished.
Point of that last paragraph was to say that maybe Nokia is still having issues with contacts mapping and won't let you download contacts from a MS based contacts directory? I would have thought SIM contacts were a universal default and should work. Have you ensured you are selecting download SIM contacts on the Nokia?
Nokia itself does not have any setting whether is should load sim contacts or other contacts... bummer. Nokia helpline gives u a flying fcuk about these questions, tried already

I just got my GF a tilt for xmas her boss tried to beam her phone (he turned on the beam function) now she cannot add a new contact.
gets error (an unexpected error has occurred in this program)
I am new to wm6 -I am new to this phone had it 2 days
any help will be appreciated ty in advance...I did do a google search and found no similar problem
The phone doesnt have an infrared beam. and not sure why turning that on would mess with contacts anyway. My guess is that something got messed up.
If you havent done too much to the phone yet, and have all of you contacts saved, do a hard reset of the phone. start|settings|system|clear storage
this will put the phone in the condition before you got it. so all info on the device will be wiped and you can start over.
ty ty ty
happy her is a happy me thanks bro
You can't beam IR, obviously, because there is no IR receiver. However, you can go into contacts and beam a contact via BT. I have to do that with my BT car stereo so I can get caller ID. If I don't, it only shows the phone number.
That shouldn't screw up the phone like it did, though...
Usually, I try to find this stuff on my own, but I'm not having any luck on this one. Maybe you can point me in the right direction if nothing else...
I have a Garmin c550 GPS in my car. It has bluetooth capabilities that let it double as a speakerphone. The device pulls your contact list from the phone through bluetooth, so you can pull up your contacts, call history, text messages, etc from the interface on the GPS. With 6.0 roms (including Dutty's), I never had any issues.
I upgraded my ATT Tilt from one of Dutty's previous roms to Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716 (radio 1.58.25.17) recently. I'm having no trouble pairing to the GPS or speakerphone for incoming calls. I can't seem to get it to pull my contacts from the phone though.
Things I've tried:
1) Updated the GPS device from Garmin's website
2) Copying all my contacts to my SIM card (thinking that maybe the Garmin sees SIM contacts only, not Outlook contacts even though that would contractdict previous experiences)
3) Making sure Bluetooth Sim Access is enabled in the Bluetooth options under the connections tab.
Questions:
1) Is this a Garmin issue or an issue with the 6.1 rom?
2) Is anyone with Dutty's 6.1 Rom having issues with a Garmin GPS speakerphone (or any other car speakerphone) not receiving Outlook or SIM contacts?
3) Is this the right thread?
Any help would be appreciated whether it be an answer here or help directing me where I can find an answer. (For the record, I tried the Garmin website, and there wasn't much help to be found.)
Thanks.
Hello all,
I'm having some problems with my new HTC TyTN II, bought just 2 days ago.
Would like to have some help from you guys...
First problem: full charged the battery when i bought it. Yesterday when i was going to sleep, battery was 97% full. I've put the phone in suspended mode, and when i woke up the battery was already at 65%! Is this normal? I guess not...
Second problem: it seems i need to select a ringtone for each contact? Can't i just put the same ringtone for everybody with a simple click? If i don't select individually each ringtone, it doesn't ring when calling....
Third problem: I have more than 2500 contacts on my computer, as vcf cards and also in outlook 2007. But i have a problem, because many numbers are showing as "other" and not "business", "home" or "mobile". Since HTC doesn't have "other" field, the number field is showing empty at the contact entry on my HTC. Any way of mass-change all "other" number fields into "mobile" field, in the computer?
also, if i turn on the bluetooth during all the day, which should be the normal baterry lifetime, making reasonable calls?
Anyone can just give me a little help in this issues?
Besides this, great phone
Thank you!
You might like to ask this question on the Kaiser forum as that is what your Phone is.. This is the Hermes forum, HTC Tytn not Tytn 2...
Cheers...
I'm moving this to TyTn II forum (Kaiser)

1. The phone doesn't suspend 100%, there are things that might use the battery while running, get kaiser tweak for that.
2. Um it's as easy as going to phone in settings and setting the ring tone. (omg)
3.MAybe you need to export your contacts as a diff style and then reimport them making the proper changes.
4. Leaving anything on with this phone runs the battery down. I don't use BT that much so I couldn't tell you..
I'm sure a search would reveal your answers.
Simple fixes...

1. If it was connected via ActiveSync to your computer/laptop, it could have started syncing on its own for hours. This happens to me when I sync WinMedia files and AvantGo. I see the batt draining faster than it charges on the USB port.
2. If you set a default ringer in Phone/Settings, you shouldn't have this problem.
3. (like already suggested) You may have to EXPORT your contacts. I suggest keeping in Outlook and export out of one .PST file and remap the numbers as you IMPORT them back in to a different .PST. Then you can copy/replace them to your main .PST file and resync your device.
4. I keep BT running all day and under normal use (180 min. using BT headset), I can get through the day. The issue is defining "normal use" and it will depend greatly on what else you're doing with the device through the day. (watching vids, listening to music, surfing on 3G, etc.)

Why come back through and say the exact same thing I did?
first things first - congratulations for the phone
for problem # 3 delete all contacts from your phone, in your outlook (PC) arrange them in a specific order, group them instead of other to some other field that exist in ppc outlook e.g. organisation or position title (that what i did)
for problem # 4 dude if you leave bluetooth on it does not just consume battery it EATS THE BATTERY - off all wireless when not needed
side notes:
2500 contacts even our switch board operator in my organisation does not have this much of contacts
dude read about different radios and their halflife or their life time ( i used to have a radio 1.65.XXX and it did not used to last long with me.. no i have the neon radio 1.58.XXX and its great life wise but a bit weaker for recpetion specially wifi
one more thing if u dont use 3G try disable that
go to my start -settings- phone - network- change to GSM mode only
best luck bro

I think he was looking for something that didn't require him to go into each contact and change from other. Exporting to a .cvs file (coma something) and then back to outlook should offer him the chance to change all the others to something else that he wants. But yeah thats a lot of numbers.
.cvs can be easily edited using (COPY & PASTE) and (FIND & REPLACE) in excel but that will require him to know all of the communalities of his contacts (and sure he knows what he does) or he will ruin his file
2500 contacts - our switchboard in my organisation has less internal directory than this

Im wondering if anyone has done a bluetooth connection between a garmin Nuvi or Zumo and their diamonds?????
I have a Garmin Zumo, and to synchronize my contacts in WM 5 and my PPC 6800 I had to send each contact individually (Yes one at a time) whereas most phones Autosynched all contacts each time the BT connection was made...my understanding was this had something to do with the bluetooth Stack on WM5 and the 6800's Bluetooth hardware...
Can anyone confirm if the Pairing of a Diamond has had better Contact Synch results? Noit a Deal Killer...Actually a bad answer makes it easier to wait for Alltel release I supose...I heard September 30 Rumors and Nov 13 for Pro...Not sure how reliable those forums were
Finally got my Alltel Diamond....
For those who lurked into this thread wondering the answer...The answer is it synchs the full contact list and recent calls list perfectly, unlike older pocketPCs...So microsoft obviously worked out the bluetooth stack issue that used to make us synch one contact at a time...WOO HOO...Love my garmin Hands free...Zumo/XM/AUDIO/Handsfree with a Diamond to BOOT
HTC Touch Diamond / Garmin nuvi 760 BT
Hi flipper44,
I recently got a Garmin nuvi 760 and it pairs fine with my HTC Touch Diamond but I don't seem to get any phonebook - ie. the phonebook option is just not shown on the Garmin.
Do you know whether only contacts that are on the SIM card will sync, or will the 'Outlook' type contacts also sync. Also, is there anything I need to do to get them to sync.
The nuvi manual seems to suggest that the Garmin should pick up my phone contacts automatically.

Are you saying there is no phonebook contact icon at all?
You could try it the old fashioned way of going into contacts...picking one and tellin g it to send via bluetooth
HTC Touch Diamond / Garmin nuvi 760 BT
The 'old fashioned' way seems to work and should be OK for my purposes as I only need to add some of my contacts.
Regarding the icon, it is not displayed (until I used method above). If I clicked on the 'Call Home' icon, for example, there would be a 'Phonebook' button, but disabled.
I moved a contact from the 'Outlook' contacts to the SIM and made sure that the Bluetooth mode had 'Allow SIM access' enabled, but even this didn't seem to work.
I may try re-pairing, otherwise I'll just push the desired contacts to the nuvi...
Strange...I have a CDMA phone....Although I had a diamond when I last synch'd...Havent been on any business trips since I got the PRO so havent bothered to go hands free yet...I'll give a bluetooth pairing a try with my PRO and let you know...But i can tell you with the diamond CDMA obviously the SIM card had nothing to do with my succesful sync
HTC Touch Diamond / Garmin nuvi 760 BT
I deleted the pairing on both my phone and the Garmin and then re-paired. This time the phone book icon was displayed but each time I went into the phonebook an hourglass was displayed - even after about 15 minutes, so I assumed that it wasn't working.
I eventually found a link to a page on Garmin's site which lists the level of bluetooth compatibility of various phones. The HTC Touch Diamond is not listed (a bit poor IMO) but phones such as the Tytn, etc. are. It seems that neither SMS or phonebook synching are supported.
I was able to select all my contacts and beam them en masse to the Garmin though - a relief that I did not have to do this one by one.
T've same problem with htc touch pro & garmin zumo500
Hi, I've the same problem with HTC touch pro and Garmin Zumo 500. Garmin support doesn't solve this problem.
have you found any solution?
Thanks
Check for updates at Garmin's website. There are new releases every so often.
I have just read a post in the Topaz (TD2) accessories forum asking after a dual SIM adapter. I too have carried multiple phone for years and one of my thoughts about getting this device was that I may be able to carry just one device with me.
Adding a second SIM is only one of my issues (and I guess I would need to unloack the phone), I also would like to be able to connect to 2 Exchange servers - Home and Work. Unfortunately, I don't think this can be done.
Maybe I was nieve when I got the TD2, but I at least wanted to be able to view both information from my Home and work on the single device. I run SBS 2003 with Exchange 2003 at home and we also use Exchange in work, but you can only connect to a single Exchange server.
It would be nice to have multiple profiles - one for work, one for home, each with their own settings, contacts, email etc etc.
This profiles ideally should run concurrently, so that you can flick backwards and forwards with no issue, and if someone tries to communicate with you when in the other profile, the phone will switch automatically. The phone should also switch profiles if it detects a change in presence - i.e. it connects to a work Wi-Fi or Home Wi-Fi.
I have no idea if this is possible, but the whole idea of one device for all I still think is years away based on my understanding of the device after just a few days use. This is a shame as the single device is not a "new" idea.
Can anyone suggest any possibilities? I have only just started looking at these types of device - my last PDA was a Palm 5 about 7/8 years ago! I am interested in at least expanding the device with applications.
But in fairness not many people run exchange at home! Why not access one of the exchange accounts via IMAP or POP?
However, lots of people wish to connect to more than one Exchange server that are not trusted just in a work enviroment. I know of several people with multiple jobs that would require just this ability. It's amazing how many people out there do want such a facility.
I believe IMAP will only sync email, not contact info, tasks calendar etc. Even then, IMAP only really works properly in Exchange 2007.
Still, I don't want my home contacts or calendar details on my work account, and vice versa. This is the crux of my enquiry. A single device that is "mine" and can be used in a personal/work or multiple workplace environment, without encroaching on either.
