Anyone try Garmin Nuvi/Zumo BT Contact Synching - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Im wondering if anyone has done a bluetooth connection between a garmin Nuvi or Zumo and their diamonds?????
I have a Garmin Zumo, and to synchronize my contacts in WM 5 and my PPC 6800 I had to send each contact individually (Yes one at a time) whereas most phones Autosynched all contacts each time the BT connection was made...my understanding was this had something to do with the bluetooth Stack on WM5 and the 6800's Bluetooth hardware...
Can anyone confirm if the Pairing of a Diamond has had better Contact Synch results? Noit a Deal Killer...Actually a bad answer makes it easier to wait for Alltel release I supose...I heard September 30 Rumors and Nov 13 for Pro...Not sure how reliable those forums were

Finally got my Alltel Diamond....
For those who lurked into this thread wondering the answer...The answer is it synchs the full contact list and recent calls list perfectly, unlike older pocketPCs...So microsoft obviously worked out the bluetooth stack issue that used to make us synch one contact at a time...WOO HOO...Love my garmin Hands free...Zumo/XM/AUDIO/Handsfree with a Diamond to BOOT

HTC Touch Diamond / Garmin nuvi 760 BT
Hi flipper44,
I recently got a Garmin nuvi 760 and it pairs fine with my HTC Touch Diamond but I don't seem to get any phonebook - ie. the phonebook option is just not shown on the Garmin.
Do you know whether only contacts that are on the SIM card will sync, or will the 'Outlook' type contacts also sync. Also, is there anything I need to do to get them to sync.
The nuvi manual seems to suggest that the Garmin should pick up my phone contacts automatically.

Are you saying there is no phonebook contact icon at all?
You could try it the old fashioned way of going into contacts...picking one and tellin g it to send via bluetooth

HTC Touch Diamond / Garmin nuvi 760 BT
The 'old fashioned' way seems to work and should be OK for my purposes as I only need to add some of my contacts.
Regarding the icon, it is not displayed (until I used method above). If I clicked on the 'Call Home' icon, for example, there would be a 'Phonebook' button, but disabled.
I moved a contact from the 'Outlook' contacts to the SIM and made sure that the Bluetooth mode had 'Allow SIM access' enabled, but even this didn't seem to work.
I may try re-pairing, otherwise I'll just push the desired contacts to the nuvi...

Strange...I have a CDMA phone....Although I had a diamond when I last synch'd...Havent been on any business trips since I got the PRO so havent bothered to go hands free yet...I'll give a bluetooth pairing a try with my PRO and let you know...But i can tell you with the diamond CDMA obviously the SIM card had nothing to do with my succesful sync

HTC Touch Diamond / Garmin nuvi 760 BT
I deleted the pairing on both my phone and the Garmin and then re-paired. This time the phone book icon was displayed but each time I went into the phonebook an hourglass was displayed - even after about 15 minutes, so I assumed that it wasn't working.
I eventually found a link to a page on Garmin's site which lists the level of bluetooth compatibility of various phones. The HTC Touch Diamond is not listed (a bit poor IMO) but phones such as the Tytn, etc. are. It seems that neither SMS or phonebook synching are supported.
I was able to select all my contacts and beam them en masse to the Garmin though - a relief that I did not have to do this one by one.

T've same problem with htc touch pro & garmin zumo500
Hi, I've the same problem with HTC touch pro and Garmin Zumo 500. Garmin support doesn't solve this problem.
have you found any solution?
Thanks

Please report your GPS experience

For the lucky people who got their Kaisers already, would you please report your experience regarding the built-in GPS please specially the initial cold fix as it was very slow with the Trinity P3600
TomTom 6.030 does not work, instead you have to install the TT version 6.0.32 from the accompanying CD. The first fix (after QuickGPS ran) was almost instaneaous and a lot faster than on the Athena.
Agreed; and, at least in Google Maps, the position is more accurate than the Ameo.
For batterie Life
Hello,
Can you post hte comment of batterie life when you use the GPS.
For example: the phone
the telephone is load completely (100% full batterie) and when you use 1 hour of gps
how much battery it remains?
Thanks.

Am running 6.030 now!
Don't ask me how or why but it's working fine.
Joe
I now verified that on TT6.030 you have to use "Other NMEA GPS/4800Bd/Com 4: and on TT6.032 you can stay with "Internal GPS"
In any case, TT6.032 with "Internal GPS" the fix is aqcuired a lot faster than on TT6.030
TT6.032 is supplied with the TyTNN II on the accompanying CDRom
(TT6.032 incidentally does not allow itself to be installed on any other device, the installer prevents that, but after installation on the TyTN II, the directory can be copied to for instance the x7500 to replace the old installation there, and it will work fine. My first impression is that also on the x7500 with TT6.032 the fix is faster, but I still need to run the "dinner table test" )
its working fine now after i installed the version on the cd. thanks. my MapKing chinese version also working, GREAT!
When you use tt6.32 from the CD, can you use any tt6 map? or is it locked to 1 map only?
Can you have multiple maps with the tt6.32 from the CD?
Can you confirm that the version supplied with TyTn II i.e., TomTom 6.0.32, is a FULL version ? Licences? or is it a taster and you have to pay to register it as a full version? If it is full, does it come with Great Britain Maps (full) or you have to download them? In case of download, is it free?
Thanks
The CD version of TT 6.032 that comes with the Kaiser is as full as an update one would dowload from TomTom. There is no code. There are no maps either. One can download one area map (f.i. London) for free, but no country or continent maps are added. Those will have to be purchased separately.
If you install it on top of an already installed and registered TT6.0x0, it will not ask for a new code. Any old registration will remain valid.
On another note, sitting side by side in my car, I noticed that the x7500's GPS reception was a lot more consistent then the TyTNN II's. The TyTN II may acquire its fix a lot faster, but on the whole, the x7500's reception is better (even though my "dinner table test" would lead to believe otherwise) and more consistent.
While my x7500 had a permanent reception of 9-10 satellites (albeit with shorter bars) the TyTN II was jumping up and down between 3 and 7 satellites.
I currently use my Hermes in an 'in car' holder, with a bluetooth GPS reciever face up in the window. One thing that I would like to know, is that if I was to get a Kaiser and put it into my car holder, surely the orientation of the GPS reciever inside the Kaiser would be 'end on' to the sky, and the satelites.
This must affect performance?
I got mine this morning. Took me quite a while to get GPS working -- had to do a hard reset. It's now working with Route 66, which I used to use on my Wizard.
GPS data seems a bit bursty -- when I was viewing it with GPSViewer, I'd get a bunch of NMEA strings, then nothing for several seconds, then another burst.
Hum..seems to be same issue than Paul from Modaco :
"The GPS bug seems to occur with some applications whereby the GPS 'data stream' will pause for a few seconds at a time, which makes some apps think the GPS has gone away (e.g. Google Maps) and other apps just update in sudden jumps rather than smoothly." ?
Seems that HTC did not fix it in the final ROM.
Do you know if HTC is aware of this issue and plan to fix it ?
Thanks
don't know if i've encountered the bug but here's my situation: i cannot get the GPS Hardware Port (or COM) settings to "stick" after changing them. for example i can change GPS Program Port and it will stick but changing the Hardware Port and clicking OK has no impact. if i reopen the GPS settings, the Hardware Port shows "(NONE)". and this is after 4 hard resets. funny thing is that is worked when i initially set up my device, then all of a sudden, TT6 was reporting "No GPS Device"... it may be time to pack it up and return it for a replacement... any suggestions would be appreciated.
Update: Followed Paul's (on Modaco) suggestion to leave the default settings and now GPS is working.
Which Navigation programs work in landscape mode???
for those of you with a Tytn II, are you able to modify the GPS Hardware COM port from one setting to another? the fact that mine says "(NONE)" is leading me to believe i have a hardware defective unit. thanks.
Kaiser and mapking 2007
ive tried mapking 07 on kaiser and it doesnt work. It juz cannot pinpoint the location that I am at. I wonder if its the software problem??
I installed TOM-TOM from the HTC CD and it has worked with out problems, even installed US MAPS from another Tom-Tom CD I have from the original version. Only problem so far, once I was using it and received an SMS message and it locked up. Had to restart. Receiving email is fine but the SMS message freaked it out.

Nokia CK-15W and Kaiser (phonebook prob)

Hi all,
I have Nokia Bluetooth Car-kit CK-15W, in which one can download contacts to be shown on the device. This feature worked great on my E90, which I dumped due to various problems and overall disappointment on Nokia quality.
After I paired my Kaiser with this Car kit (sound quality is only fair to mediocre by the way) it doesn't allow me to download contacts.
Nokia supports "Phonebook Access Profile 1.0."
The question is, do I have any chance to have my HTC contacts shown on this car kit?
I already have tried to copy contacts to sim with "Sim manager" and enabled Remote SIM access via bluetooth.
Please help
Left it to see if anyone else would come back but the only info I can give you is as you know, MS and Nokia use different contact info protocols!
Nobody can send a Nokia contact sms to a WM phone and I would suspect that their BT protocols are the same! Soz mate.
Don't know if it's of any help, but I have the Nokia 610 kit (distant predecessor to yours, only offers RSAP connection) and it can only handle downloading SIM contacts. When active, it works fine for calls, but won't upload SMS's to the phone or download contacts from the main memory.
I've always had problems syncing Nokia's with Outlook on my PC, the fields just don't map correctly. Not a problem with any of the WM phones I've had, in fact to get contacts & calender updated on my last new Nokia took a couple of hours, with my Kaiser it was 10 minutes from pluging in to finished.
Point of that last paragraph was to say that maybe Nokia is still having issues with contacts mapping and won't let you download contacts from a MS based contacts directory? I would have thought SIM contacts were a universal default and should work. Have you ensured you are selecting download SIM contacts on the Nokia?
Nokia itself does not have any setting whether is should load sim contacts or other contacts... bummer. Nokia helpline gives u a flying fcuk about these questions, tried already

Problems pulling contacts to Car Speakerphone after 6.1

Usually, I try to find this stuff on my own, but I'm not having any luck on this one. Maybe you can point me in the right direction if nothing else...
I have a Garmin c550 GPS in my car. It has bluetooth capabilities that let it double as a speakerphone. The device pulls your contact list from the phone through bluetooth, so you can pull up your contacts, call history, text messages, etc from the interface on the GPS. With 6.0 roms (including Dutty's), I never had any issues.
I upgraded my ATT Tilt from one of Dutty's previous roms to Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716 (radio 1.58.25.17) recently. I'm having no trouble pairing to the GPS or speakerphone for incoming calls. I can't seem to get it to pull my contacts from the phone though.
Things I've tried:
1) Updated the GPS device from Garmin's website
2) Copying all my contacts to my SIM card (thinking that maybe the Garmin sees SIM contacts only, not Outlook contacts even though that would contractdict previous experiences)
3) Making sure Bluetooth Sim Access is enabled in the Bluetooth options under the connections tab.
Questions:
1) Is this a Garmin issue or an issue with the 6.1 rom?
2) Is anyone with Dutty's 6.1 Rom having issues with a Garmin GPS speakerphone (or any other car speakerphone) not receiving Outlook or SIM contacts?
3) Is this the right thread?
Any help would be appreciated whether it be an answer here or help directing me where I can find an answer. (For the record, I tried the Garmin website, and there wasn't much help to be found.)
Thanks.

[SOLVED] How to have VoIP and GPS working in Diamond !

Hi,
I think it can be a solution for everyone who wants to use M$ VoIP and GPS in his Diamond (till today if you use VoIP, GPS goes dead).
IMHO problem was one file called dnsapi.dll in VoIP cab which overwrite original one in ROM. It caused that GPS goes dead.
I've removed this file from my OEM package and cooked a ROM with VoIP. I tested this and VoIP and GPS is working without any problems.
I using only OEM packages - if someone can make a cab file from attached OEM package and test it, maybe we will have a solution for everyone !
[2008-08-08] UPDATE - CABs can be found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2497988&postcount=8
Sound great!!
This is what i´ve been waiting for... fring does the trick... but BAD.
Sweet.
Good idea, a shame I don't know how to make a .cab.
None of the VoIP programs I tested work on the diamond (even Fring doesn't work properly...)

I'm not talking about Skype and Fring - issue was with VoIP drivers from M$. With that you can dial via e.g. Halonet from normal dialpad.
Anyone tried to make proper CAB? For chefs attached OEM package is ready to cook.
Hi,
I tried to make a proper cab, but apparently I failed
I damaged my original dnsapi.dll, now I have one with filedate
31.01.07; could someone upload the original one from a 1.37 rom?
Thanks,
Seven

Here you are...
Aaaah, thanks Saves me from Hardreset because the VOIP drivers wouldn't uninstall anymore... Have something in return: Here you have two CABs which do not install a dnsapi.dll, and tested them on my diamond. Works perfectly. You even dont have to reset the phone...
If feedback is positive, maybe the OP could change topic into "[solved]..."?
One tiny thing left to do: Change the ipdialplan.xml to make VOIP dial those "+1 (999) 1212 - 1212" numbers as well ^^
Thanks and enjoy,

I've tested in HTC GPS Tool and Automapa (Polish navigation).
Anyone tried CAB prepared by mcseven?
I used tomtom 7, outdoor gps and mobile terminal emulator to see nmea records on COM4 directly. all 3 programs were running simultaneously and were receiving GPS.
I also tried to connect the VOIP to my asterisk, works as well, but cannot call any +1* numbers or numbers with brackets, since I dont know how to change the ipdialplan.xml in /windows...
I didn't know wich one of the .cab I should install so I installed both; I started with the drivers, it did nothing then I installed WM6Voip, it seemed to work. So I installed SIPconfigTool to configure my connection and I tested TomTom, the GPS was detected (whereas it wasn't with the original WM6Voip). Nevertheless, I tried to use my VoIP account over 3G but it couldn't connect (whereas Fring can connect).
works fine using tomtom 7 and GoSIP...
Yes, possibly the built-in VOIP cannot use STUN functionality, and fring can. I believe that to be a firewall issue.
However, now I seem to have that 5 seconds silence bug. I establish a connection, but 5 seconds into a call the diamond ceases to transmit voice. Receiving voice from the remote party however continues flawlessly. No Headset connected and not put into a docking station. Has anyone a similar problem or even a solution to that?

I've installed both your CAB's. But i'm wondering why I can use VoIP to call? Should I have another program installed?

Well, yes. Use a program called SIP config (anyone you like, I use this one) to program your provider settings into the phone. Then make sure to visit Settings->Phone->"Internet" Tab and change it from "Never" to a setting of your liking. After that (and pressing ok in the top right corner) it should register with your VOIP provider as soon as there is a data connection available. If your phone places a call via VOIP, it will ring a short audible "beep" prior to connecting. I found no way to tell it explicitly "use cellular network" or "use VOIP network" for placing a call. Perhaps this will be added in a later ROM.
However, now I seem to have that 5 seconds silence bug. (...)

I believe that to be a firewall issue as well. Yesterday I went home from work and put the phone directly into my home Wifi net with direct connection to my asterisk server. Everything works fine.
Today I used another access point at work, and it worked fine as well, so if you are having trouble getting voice to the remote party it most likely is your firewall's fault.
btw I have not found a way to use the internal=headset speaker, it will always use the loudspeaker for received audio.
wow, big THANKS.
works fine for me. Could connect to my Axon PBX with SIP and GPS also runs fine (Tested with tomtom7 and WMMiniGPS).
I realy waited for that and had also two hard resets behind me previous during tests
It almost works for me. I can connect, but my voice doesn't arrive to the other side of the line at all. Neither does the voice of the other side arrive to me. The line is open, but seems 'dead'.... what am I doing wrong?
ipdialplan.xml for sipgate in Germany
Fantastic, with the new cabs now GPS and WM6VoIP works. Attached a dialplan which I modified last year for my Kaiser. It works with my sip provider in Germany (sipgate) and you can dial local plan, leading 00 or + or 0. It may work also for others.
voip speaker
Great job!
Is there already any solution for the intern/extern speaker problem?

Tomtom handsfree with Xperia??

Hi Guys,
BIG THANK YOU for all your hard work with helping me make the most of my X1
I am posting due to a problem i have with my Tomtom 930t. I used my tomtom as handsfree for my W960 from sonyericcson with no issues. I could get calls, text(send and recieve), wireless data, Traffic and weather all from the bluetooth connection through the phone.
Now with my Xperia i can only get calls and thats if the bluetooth stays on long enough. I cannot get texts or wireless data to recieve my weather and traffic updates when im on the road.
Is there something i can load onto the Xperia to allow this?
Thank you for your time.
Hi,
Did you try Bluemusic from Teksoft ?
I bought it two years ago but by this time it never worked on my HTC TyTN WM5, so I successfully used the Gotland patch.
I tried again Bluemusic on my new Xperia X1 and by miracle it works (probably staying two years (not used) in my computer fixed the trouble...).
BR.
Thanks ill have a search and see what i can find. However I did contact SE and they said it was an issue and would be resolved in the first update.
Well I had a search but this looks like its just for music? I am looking for Calls, Text and wireless data connection from my X1 to my Tomtom 930t.
At the mo it only supports calls
