HTC Home defect - any idea? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi All,
I crashed my HTC Home by making some changes with the HTC Home customizer. Since the changes took more then 15 minutes, I resetet my Kaiser, afterwards, the HTC Home place stays empty
Any idea how to fix it, or where to get the right cab for the software? I'd like to avoid a hard reset...
Thanks

Check your today settings, HTC home customizer disables the plugin to make the edits. Then the last step is re-enabling the plugin for your today screen. My guess would be you just need to go to start-settings-today choose items and check HTC Home....

I'm afraid, that's not the solution. When I check the box for the today screen, I only get a free space with the size of the home-software. No clock, buttons, etc.

Looks like your registry is messed up. A hard reset would be best option but you could try the HTC Home plugin cab from the sticky'd thread at the top of this Forum and see if it will recover your install. Just backup your data first if you do have problems.

And which one is the right cab? I'm not talking about the "Home plugin" but about the so called "home", the area with the clock, buttons, etc.
Maybe I'm simply too blind...

Annoying HTC Home bug!

Hi,
For some unknown reason, all entries in the "Favorite People" tab in the HTC Home plugin were gone! Suddenly, when I check my phone, its gone.
They just disappeared.
This was the second time.
And I dont know what it happened.
Did you get this issue also?
Do you know why it happens?
gogol
Yea, I spent an entire day trying to fix it and I did. Here is the fix: go into the registry and delete this entry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\MASD]"QuickDial"="1_0_xxxxxx_xxxx" I guarantee it will fix your problem. Best of luck, mate.
is this the window in the cube that allows you put pictures of the people?
i noticed after a reboot they disapear, but they come back after you go back into it the 2nd time..
as "dtjunkie07" has pointed out ...
this info is also shown from one of Dutty's ROM thread.

TO ENABLE BACK FAVOURITES CONTACT IN HTC HOME JUST DELETE THE FOLLOWING REGISTRY:

I also have my Favorite People selections removed upon each soft reset (or Today refresh). It's annoying. The tab is visible and usable, but the Favorites do NOT stay.
Any ideas?

Moving HTC Plus on Today Screen

I've done my hw. There is no way that I can move it up and down. Does anyone have any suggestions. I know that HHC allows to lock and unlock HTC Home, but nothing to do with HTC Plus. Anyway to move HTC Plus below HTC home on the today screen?
They all cann be unpinned. The easiest way is using SK Tools. DL the trial version, go to today plugins, tap & hold on HTC Plus, Select unpin.
Or PM me.

Yes, there is a way that you can move the home screen up and down. If you have regedit program, you can edit it. I am using Pocket Controller Pro to edit my registry.
First go to Settings, and uncheck HTC Home
...then...
Go to HK_Local_Machine
Software
Microsoft
Today
HTC Home and change "Type" to 4
Go to settings and click on HTC home again.
Moving Home module on today screen
Believe there is an option in Kaisertweak to UNLOCK HOME to do this. Have successfully moved home module/plugin to bottom of today screen.
though I do appreciate your help, my question is in regards to HTC Plus, not Home. I can move Home anywhere I want with Advanced Config, my question is about HTC Plus. Thanks again though.

HTC Home and HTC Home Customizer issues

Using the ATT TILT
So I can install both programs with no problems. HTC Home works fine by itself. When I go into HTC customizer and make changes and try to save, it shows the busy icon and it just continues to spin. How long should the changes take to save? What am I doing wrong?
I'll try a soft reset and when I go back to the "today" setting under the personal tab, the today icon won't respond no matter how many times I tap it. I have to uninstall both HTC and HTCC and then it works fine again.
Anyone have any ideas?
Are you using a custom ROM?
Or the stock ROM?

Yeah, same here. HTC Home Customizer was working fine for me until yesterday. It became non responsive . Every time I reinstall it, it will react to me selecting it. I would make the changes, press save and then the icon would spin and never stop. I would press "X" to back out which would cause my Today screen to go blank. Then HTC Home Customizer would become non responsive all together.

HTC Home question

I've used a few roms that had a few different htc home setups. My question is, I can't seem to find the Favorite People tab in the htc home customizer. How do I get that tab? Do I need a different version of HTC Home? If HTC home came bundled with a rom, is there a way to update it? Also, how do I find out what version of HTC home I have?
I'm not sure what you have as standard, but this thread will show you how to tweak the registry to change what shows up.
Hope it helps - good luck

That was very in depth. Unfortunately, I went to regedit the portion of the HTC Home registry that corresponded with the number of tabs and the order but my registry is already edited to 1,2,3,4,5,6. So my HTC Home should be showing 6 tabs but it is only showing 5. I've used HTC Home customizer and it is showing all but the Favorites tab. No matter what tab I remove I still dont have the Favorites tab.
Can only suggest you unselect the HTC Home in the today menu, go to the registry, remove number 2. Soft reset. Back to the registry, add in 2 again. Soft reset. Select from the today menu.
If that doesnt override the customizer then you'll have to post in the ROM thread or a Customizer thread.
Best I can suggest - good luck
Backup your complete phone on your desktop/laptop and do a hard reset.
Before you install all your programs, install the HTC customizer/Home FIRST.
My Wife and I each had this problem. Apparently one of the programs interfered with the HTC Home install and we didn't have the favorite people either. If you install it FIRST; your people tab will be there.
this happened to me yesterday, this is the answer
To get the favorite people tab back, delete this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/MASD/QuickDial
then soft reset..

Total newbie- problems downloading apps, customizing today screen

Hi everyone,
I could use some help from the experienced TYTN owners out there:
I just purchased a used HTC TYTN II (my first pocket PC). The person who owned it previously downloaded the Ulitmate X.V4 ROM and Manila 2d into the phone already (took me a while to figure out what the "xda-developers" screen was that popped up every time I turned on my phone!).
1st problem- tried to simply customize my today screen by selecting items to be displayed in the 'settings>personal>today' tab. I check off the items I want as per the operation manual (i.e. tasks, appointments) but after clicking 'ok' nothing has changed on the today screen. When I go back into the settings, what I checked is no longer checked. Frustrating!!
So then I thought maybe this problem would be solved by adding a customization program. Downloaded the Manila customizer and a theme off this site (as a newbie, learned to download cabs by trial and error- couldn't find any clear cut beginner instructions on the internet on how to do this- so who knows if I've done it right). Loaded the theme this didn't help me customize what's on the today screen nor did the background change (only the title bars and menus changed)- no idea why or how to fix this.
I also tried to download the HTC home plugin, HHC customizer and appearances files. Managed to successfully download the customizer and appearances but the app won't run because I don't have the HTC home plugin and this file won't download. Every time I try I get the message: "installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions." What does this mean??
Basically, all I want is a today screen that is customized to show my appointments, tasks along with the clock, calls, etc. And a nice theme would be great. Why can't I do this?! If anyone has suggestions or some links to beginner information that would be awesome.
I would also like to be able to download apps and run them... I have a TomTom GPS moblie disk but considering I can't even display my appointments on my phone, getting this to work will be mission impossible! Again, anything that will point me in the right direction would be much appreciated!
Jenn
u need to unload your manila in order for you to show all those today menu
OMG thank you so much- it's all good now. I sadly would not have figured out such a simple thing and unfortunately I could not find anything on the internet that would explain this. The guy who had the phone before me obviously knew what he was doing and downloaded all kinds of stuff, which is great... but then it made the official manual useless while learning the phone!!
I have my tasks/appts on the today screen like I wanted but I'm sad that I don't have the "actions" tab with touchflo anymore
