I've used a few roms that had a few different htc home setups. My question is, I can't seem to find the Favorite People tab in the htc home customizer. How do I get that tab? Do I need a different version of HTC Home? If HTC home came bundled with a rom, is there a way to update it? Also, how do I find out what version of HTC home I have?
I'm not sure what you have as standard, but this thread will show you how to tweak the registry to change what shows up.
Hope it helps - good luck

That was very in depth. Unfortunately, I went to regedit the portion of the HTC Home registry that corresponded with the number of tabs and the order but my registry is already edited to 1,2,3,4,5,6. So my HTC Home should be showing 6 tabs but it is only showing 5. I've used HTC Home customizer and it is showing all but the Favorites tab. No matter what tab I remove I still dont have the Favorites tab.
Can only suggest you unselect the HTC Home in the today menu, go to the registry, remove number 2. Soft reset. Back to the registry, add in 2 again. Soft reset. Select from the today menu.
If that doesnt override the customizer then you'll have to post in the ROM thread or a Customizer thread.
Best I can suggest - good luck
Backup your complete phone on your desktop/laptop and do a hard reset.
Before you install all your programs, install the HTC customizer/Home FIRST.
My Wife and I each had this problem. Apparently one of the programs interfered with the HTC Home install and we didn't have the favorite people either. If you install it FIRST; your people tab will be there.
this happened to me yesterday, this is the answer
To get the favorite people tab back, delete this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/MASD/QuickDial
then soft reset..

Hi All,
I crashed my HTC Home by making some changes with the HTC Home customizer. Since the changes took more then 15 minutes, I resetet my Kaiser, afterwards, the HTC Home place stays empty
Any idea how to fix it, or where to get the right cab for the software? I'd like to avoid a hard reset...
Thanks
Check your today settings, HTC home customizer disables the plugin to make the edits. Then the last step is re-enabling the plugin for your today screen. My guess would be you just need to go to start-settings-today choose items and check HTC Home....
I'm afraid, that's not the solution. When I check the box for the today screen, I only get a free space with the size of the home-software. No clock, buttons, etc.
Looks like your registry is messed up. A hard reset would be best option but you could try the HTC Home plugin cab from the sticky'd thread at the top of this Forum and see if it will recover your install. Just backup your data first if you do have problems.
And which one is the right cab? I'm not talking about the "Home plugin" but about the so called "home", the area with the clock, buttons, etc.
Maybe I'm simply too blind...
Does anyone know how to add the calendar back on to the HTC home launcher tab?
I tried searching the forums but couldn't find it.
Please don't tell me I have to do a hard reset.

I might be mistaken, but it sounds like you accidently deleted the shortcut from the launcher right?
If so just click the spot where it used to be and select it from the list again
LOL I tried that and I swear I checked the list many times but I can't find it.
I am using dutty's v4 rom btw.

If your calendar is in the start menu, you may need to uncheck it from "menus" for it to appear in the list again. or just soft reset and the HTC home app may pick it back up.
Thats always been one of my pet peeves, when you add an item under "menus" it relocates the shortcut from "programs" to the "start" menu instead of just "pinning" it to the list like any other os.
It worked. I copy the Calendar shortcut to start menu and I can select from the Launcher.
Thanks!
Hi board,
Lately my start menu has been disapearing! I can still see the icons there but any writing listing the program is gone and the background is white. When I do a soft reset everything comes back, but this has been happening daily now! I installed the new ROM from AT&T could this be the issue? Any suggestions to stop this would be appreciated!!
Thanks
Same here
I also had this problem, and i don't use that ROM.
the only thing i notice is that if you go in and change one thing in the menu settings (in settings), ad one program to start menu or take away one.
then you have the right start menu a wile, than the problem comes agen.
and after that my ok button stop working, both the hard key and the one in right top.
did a hard reset and for now the problem is gone, but i have not installd all programs that i had before.
The problem most come from some other software that we both have had installd.

are u using slithers C++ cube? Apparantly this can cause this problem. Try uninstalling the cube, or enabling the HTC Large Start menu (that fixed it 4 me).
Ta,
Dave
Do not have C+ cube installed! How do I get the HTC large menu?
Thanks

WoW...When I got the reply about enabling HTC large menu I thought it was already installed on my phone and somehow could not find it, didn't know it was another program that needed to be installed....
Try this then

Apparantly it is caused by App's havnig a ++ (or maybe +) in their Shortcut.
That was the cause of the problem by Slither's Cube.
Try clearing your recent Items. And removing and shortcuts with pluses in (if any).
HTH.
Cheers,
Dave
I noticed this problem on an emulator after installing the C++ cube. So it shouldn't have anything to do with the ROM or the Kaiser in general.
Hi,
last week I noticed that one tab of my HTC Home is gone.. I'm missing the Button for quick calling favorite contacts and I don't find a setting to enable this.
Maybe my HTC Home is broke. Installed HTC Cube before and uninstalled it.
Ideas?
Try going into the Settings/Today/HTC Home and checking the tabs that you want dispayed.
Hm that was my first Idea, but in Settings->Today->Elements the Options Button is Grey when HTC Home is selected
Have you recently installed one of the numerous "cubes" avaiable here? If so, that is most probably your issue. There is a registry entry that needs to be amended to get the icon to reappear that has worked previously for me.
To get fave people tab back on HTC home then try this.....Remove or rename HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/MASD/QuickDial
Once done then soft reset and all should be ok.
If you need to add any contacts then add then through the cube. otherwise everytime you soft reset they may disappear.
****EDIT**** I have just tested this and can confirm that this method works with Dutty's April 9th ROM.
Yes, I did... Your solution helped, thank you!

Hi All,
Just updated my Touch Diamond 2 to TOM's new WM 6.5 ROM. I'm happy with everything, but the new start menu is a little awkward. Its very small, and it shows everything. I liked HTC's original TouchFlo 'Programs' tab, as this allows me to add shortcuts to the apps I use most, and hide the remaining ones in the "All Programs" soft key.
However, I don't know how to change it so when I click the Start Menu (or the hardware button) it opens the Programs screen. I'm sure its a registry setting, but I don't know which one exactly.
Any help would be appreciated.
I dunno whether this will be the one for you, but it's worth taking a look at:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu]
"EnableManilaStartMenu"=dword:00000001

Thanks, but this doesn't seem to work. Even a reset doesn't change the start menu behaviour.
Can anyone else help?
hard reset?
as the title ...
How about this one:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"EnableStartMenu"=dword:00000001
(perhaps in conjuction with the other one)
