If some of the app programmers in here are looking for an idea to an app/tweak for the S730 (or other phones), i have a suggestion :
It would be such a cool feature if, when you are talking on the phone normally and you decide to slide out the qwerty keyboard the phone automaticly puts the call on loudspeaker, and when you slide the qwerty keyboard back in it automaticlly goes back to 'normal' phone mode.
Fx. when you are driving and need to put in on loudspeaker its easier to slide out the keuboard. Or if you want to add an appointment or contact while talking to someone its way easier to just slide out the keyboard and start typing.
I really hope someone can code such an app. I would be a very happy little piggy
Is it even possible to mske such an app?
I dont wanna go around hoping for it if it's not possible
Same for Tilt. It can really be a bugger to answer. Sliding back to vertical seems to put caller on hold. Very dangerous to answer in car w/o bluetooth.
there's clearly something being called when you open the phone. it's a matter of figuring out what, putting a watch on it; then, when activated, making the necessary reg changes/api calls to do whatever you want. Obviously. Too bad I don't have a working version of Visual Studio.

Sure thing. Actually I had installed it on Vista. Something happened (I think with an SP upgrade), and it no longer starts; and I can not uninstall it.
Lovely, Vista. Lovely.
It's pretty easy to be notified when keyboard is out and incoming call is detected.. I guess, the harder part is to programmatically switch on loud speaker (without simulating menu presses). But, maybe it's easy, i've not touch the phone or RIL API yet..
Well i really hope that you Saman-cz or bigflavor or someone else could program it. It would be really cool. I used to have it on my Nokia Communicator and it was a great feature that i used a lot.
If someone makes it for the S730 would it work on other slide out smartphone as well?
just found out:
Hit Green Call button "long" (hold it for about two seconds) while in a call and it will toggle speakerphone.
great hint. thanks
Cool. Not as good as the keyboard app , but very very usefull. Thanks.

if we can get the bluetooth headset then why not the wired headset?
I agree fully...i need the wired headset for my motorcycle...i need to be able to access voice command from my wired headset button. There must be a way to do this!
I've written an app to do this, but it's not released yet. One day... gotta turn it into something useful.
V
There are many people looking for a program that'll do it.
There is a program that seems to work for some (talk button detector), but doesn't for many.
When you release the program, where will we be able to find it, vijay555?
Thanks
If and when it's released, it'll be on my website. But it's likely to take a while because I want to mash it together with some other features and functions, and I'm writing some other intensive apps first.
What do you need the app to do, just launch another specified app?
V
Thanks for the reply Vijay.
The only feature I seem to need would be running a voice dialer application like Voice Speed Dial that comes with MDA, or Voice Commander, so that I can not only receive but also make calls through the wired headset. Maybe while the voice application is running, pressing the button again should close the application.
My original Cingular Rom had this function, so did another one i flashed later(can't remember specific). Sadly most Roms do not support this. Talkbutton seemed like the answer but didn't work for me. I also tried a cab from the Hermes section, but no success on 8125.
Perhaps someone could extract the files from one of the official Roms, or Vijay555 could, perhaps, share some info on this, when he is free, as he seems to be the only one that has this figured out.
Thanks in advance
I'm afraid I'm not in a position to share info on it right now, it's some R&D I did a while back but I haven't had a chance to chase it up further yet to turn it into an app. Once I do, I'll need to tighten it up into a more comprehensive app. I will do it though.
I'll try to look into it soon, maybe a standalone is possible.
V
i remember having a panasonic walkman, an old fashioned tape player, yet it was nice. one of it's best features was a remote with only one button, that reacted to long/single/double/tripple press with acordingly: reverse, pause/play, FF, REV. this was great, and times was like 1995? wish i could do it with wizard's talkbutton, i was hoping to find an app like this, but no luck so far. vijay, i really believe you can do this... and it has been a while since you last posted here, maybe theres been some progress on your work? (sorry if i sound demanding
The app works as far as I need to it to, but it would benefit from a single button driven "interface", eg one click = launch app, two clicks = close app etc.
However, I've been out of the scene for a few months, and will not be back until the New Year. After that I'll try to start getting back into research.
V
Good thing to hear! I'm waiting patiently.
Of course it is obvious but i'll ask; would it be customisable?
i know it would be easy to implement config for actions like launching other programs or closing specific ones... i don't dare to hope for something like sending messages to different apps like tcpmp that would allow to switch tracks or other things... i guess i'll try to figure it out myself, but with my poor knowledge of WM api it will be rather a disaster ;]
After having a Touch a few months back, i thought the Diamond would be a breeze. NO such luck in my experience.
For example. On the main home screen. How do you edit that so it's just the clock or, to add more to the list that currently shows calendar and call history? I can't find any way to do this so if you can enlighten me, i'd really appreciate it.
What about when texting? Is there any way to make the keypad a different size? Personally i can't find a way to edit that. It's annoying that after adding your contacts name, you seemingly have 90% of the screen filled with the entry system and you have to mess about to get to the message section of the screen. Guessing i've missed something somewhere!
Zooming in on a photo... how is that done? Orange's CD ROM User Manual is vague to say the least so if you can assist here to, please do.
This thread could become a handy hints and tips chart for beginners if all feedback is good so if you have a question or some simple advice for settings and the way to go around things, chuck a note in and someone will be very happy to see the reply
1) Well if u flick ur finger in an upward motion on the home screen u'll notice the clock becoming smaller and will list all the list all ur appointments from ur calendar...
2) If u are not satisfied in the HTC Keyboard, u will need to look into other keyboards my fav personally is Touchpal from Cootek and there is even resco keyboard which is pretty gud.
3) You can only zoom in a picture when u r in the HTC Album, in order to zoom you will need to rotate your finger clockwise or anti-clockwise i am always forget which is for zooming so u will need chk tht out...
I hope these tips helps u out....

Hmmmmmm, i see. Shame that somehow we can't take the good things from the Touch like the Home screen as standard and have them in the 3D instead. If any cab compilers are reading this, maybe it's something that could be done?
Along those lines, maybe someone could rip out the original texting keyboard, the smaller more compact one... better for stylus use and enables you to see more screen. I HATE the big finger pad they've put on the Diamond. Is is really necessary to have it that big? Surely if you're going to use the stylus (i mean if HTC didn't want us to use one, then ALL the functions and menus would be larger, yes?), then why provide us with one in the first place?!?!!

There are multiple SIPs already built into the Diamond. Holding your finger or stylus on the small arrow next to the keypad button when input is allowed will display the menu, from there you can select the Windows SIP which is tiny and stylus friendly...
Reading the manual is a good idea before posting dude. Or even a search

Well thanks for that reply. I'll have a mess about with that one.
That took no time at all. NO WINDOWS SIP on my handset. All i have are the following... BLOCK, COMPACT, FULL, KEYBOARD, LETTER, PHONEPAD and TRANSCRIBER *sigh*
What bloody version have you got?!?!!
Oh and for the record Mr Read-The-Text-Provided (lol)... did i not say this? ---> Orange's CD ROM User Manual is vague to say the least so if you can assist here to, please do.
Hmmmmm, i think i did!
Ok... answer this one then. Every other HTC phone i have had has done this but not on the Diamond. When you receive a simple thing like an mms or a text, the screen lights to give a clue in case you never heard the message laert. How you you activate THAT cus i'm not seeing how it'ds done anywhere.
Clues please?
I agree - the 'manual/instructions' Orange sent were non-existent and as a first time PPC user I was totally lost until I had a nosey around here and to be fair am still learning all what this phone can do!

Install Diamond Tweak, which is available here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409540
and that gives you the option to enable this feature. (along with tons of other tweaks to!)
Hope this helps!

Oh i can answer what it can do for you in one simple phrase mate. It can screw ya head up!
HTC want a good kicking if you ask me. The thing as I see it is this. If they'd have kept the basics as it was on the Kaiser (Tytn II) and THEN added the 3D, all would have been superb.
As for Orange... well, nuff said

Thanks for that chap. My tone? Oh well if i've offended anyone then i apologise. I'm just a bit jumpy when things don't go according to plan and my comments come over as slightly abrasive when in fact, they're supposed to come over as a normal question but in a jokey type manner. I get that in a face to face sitation to so i know exactly what you're saying.
Again, thanks for the reply though. Much appreciated
Hi all,
Bought my kaiser around a month ago and I'm very happy with it in general, but I feel the phone software is quite inadequate (unless I'm missing something obvious).
What I mean is that I love the ppc, but when it's supposed to be a phone, I want it to act JUST like a phone - no other crap on the screen, easy to use when it's clicked into a car cradle when driving.
Specifics:
It'd be brilliant if when I receive a call, the kaiser would flick to fullscreen with
(a) large fonts
(b) a big customisable contact pic of who's calling
(c) Caller's name/number
(d) BIG, simple buttons to answer/reject.
(e) nothing else!
I have searched the forums, I've tried so many pieces of software (fffriends etc) and I've flashed my phone with some of the excellent roms available here, but for me, unless I can find a solution to this 'problem', I'm always going to be disappointed with this device.
Any help most welcome, thank you!
I'm not sure if you've tried it yet, but PhotoContacts Pro used to have the fullscreen caller ID you're looking for, as well as a good photo dialer for making calls. I used to use it on my ols wm2003 ipaq, since 2003 didn't support caller ID photos. I remember being able to choose between small pic, large pic, and fullscreen. I haven't tried the latest one yet, as the kaiser has photo caller ID support and I have different needs from yours, but I can't imagine that they would have removed that bit.
hope this helps

I'm taking a look now, thank you. I must say, so far this looks like it solves at least part of the problem - the incoming call feature is *exactly* what I was wanting.
Much appreciated
Now I guess I just need a better dialler application of some kind. I'd like a full screen dialler, with *nothing* D) on it aside from
(a) Numbers
(b) a button for accessing contacts.
I hate having to use a fingernail to hit a teeny little 'contacts' button - if I'm in the car or walking, I want to feel like I'm using a phone, not something I need a stylus for.
Any input most welcome.
the s2u2 slide to unlock program features a setting where you can also slide to answer. it also displays the contact picture in full screen when someone is calling. its large and easy to work with

Good day, new here and hoping someone can assist with a question I am unable to find an answer for. I have a touch pro on the Sprint network, I have not cracked it or done much to this phone as I am still very new to this device (retired my Moto Q). The only customization I have done thus far is instal the transparent flip clock.
What I am hoping to do is edit the tone my keypad makes when using the TP as a phone. Right now the only options available when having the phones keypad up under menu>options> keypad is Off, Long tones, and Short tones. What i would like to do is make it more costum, perhaps by using the 'clicking' sound the new BB Storm makes when pressing, really anything but that annoying standard 'beep' or nothing at all.
Sorry if I missed something in the search or wiki, I did look but nothing doing.
Thanks in advance!

search in the reg under HKCU\controlpanel\sounds i think if no luck just search the reg for sounds folder. hope this helps
thanks for your response, i did find the keys, however they can only be changed to another numeric character. The keys are labeled Dtmf0, Dtmf1, Dtmf2, etc for each key. I verified this by changing some of them. So you can set the keys to make the seperate tones, such as making them all sound like your dialing '1', or make '9' have the '2' tone, etc, but I cant find a way to make it use a sound file, any advice? Hope I was clear enough on this.
Thanks again

I was wondering if it was possible for anyone to make a dialer to replace the existing one that looks like the Dial Home Device seen on the television show Stargate SG-1. I noticed that there is an iPhone app and was hoping that maybe someone could make one, since I haven't the clue as to how they are made. Any responses are appreciated. Thanks.
Can you get a picture? It may just be a matter of skinning the default dialer.
Obviously the number of symbols is > 0-9 on a regular number pad. I could be cool, but I don't know if it is possible software wise. If someone knows it's physically possible, PM me and I could contribute some art. I would just need the specs because I've only made icons for the g1.
Here are the pictures
This is the one from the iPhone. The first one is when you're dialing. The second one is when you press send to connect the call and is active. The stargate in the backround has the wormhole active. I don't expect the background to do that like it does on the iPhone, but if it was somehow possible, that would be awesome. Hope this helps. Thanks once again.

This sounds like a great idea..
Looks nice, but seems a little crowded to place all the numbers side by side like that, but maybe it will work.
I only mention it because I sometimes mis-dial with the current keypad, which only has 3 numbers across.

I haven't had that problem with the dialer. I have with text messaging. But i don't think the numbers will be smaller than the letters on the soft keyboard. I would be fine with that. I just want something different from what most have. And I love stargate and when I saw that I just had to have it, but I don't have a clue how to do it, so that's why I ask for help
So...
Does anyone even know if something like this would be close to possible?
Yeah something like this is possible, I bet it would take a while to render the wormhole unless it used the openGL api. You just have to find a dev willing to put in the time for it. Maybe you can ask a dev in the marketplace that already does custom stuff with the dialer (ben or dan, MGeek, ZacCom)

Thanks everyone I appreciate all the help. I will see where I can go from here.
Tools needed?
Ive been looking at this idea too.
Basically, as having the phone make chevron dialing noises is mostly for the novelty of watching people around you giving you weird looks, im going to see if some of the 'simpler' programming tools programs for WM/Android (as a friend has a Dream) to chuck togheter a "select person, then just make dialing sounds" (simple-er) or a "select person, then highlight in an order a bunch of chevrons to hit based on a person name -> numbers formula" (interactive)
I dont really mind having a complex dialing tool, only something that makes it look like you are hitting a whole bunch of chevrons and sounds, with the end result being someone dialed.
I'll have a screwaround in the not so distant future and see what rubbish i spit out; if it turns into anything usable i guess extra complexity can be added.
