Button Mapping

i would like to be able to make one of the buttons on my xda mini lock and unlock the device is this possible i cant see that option in button configs its just i like whats on my today screen i just dont like having to scroll down to lock the device i dont want to remove anything from my today screen except the device lock/unlock line

sorry mate, this is not possible. we have all tried and searched, but there is no app to be found that is responsible for the today plug-in and can be bound to a button. probably the device lock is in some.dll file, but we cannot extract it. I use Mortsaver from www.sto-helit.de and bound it to a button.

although that is true (there's no app bound to it), there -are- two solutions that invoke the plugin. One needs it to be on the Today screen, another does not;

I use DeviceLock (second of the two links from ZeBoxx's post) and like it a ton. I removed the Device Lock Today item and mapped the DeviceLock program to a hardware button. If my Wizard is locked it shows up where the softkeys are, otherwise, its unlocked. Saves a line in Today Screen anyway...

thanks for the tip guys! I was looking very hard for this when I first got my Wizard, but since results didn't come, I forgot about it. I use the second one as well, saves a line in the today screen which was too small to hit accurately with my thumb anyway! Thanks!

Remap PTT to Lock/Unlock phone.

Hey guys, sorry if this has been addressed already, but I've been searching off and on for this for awhile. I finally took the time to read through that 60+ ptt post in the hermes forum but didn't see anything.
I've installed sleuth's PTTFix cab, but lock and unlock don't seem to be in the list of "apps" to choose for button 6. Is there any way to add the lock/unlock feature to the buttons menu, or is there a separate app to do it perhaps? I would love to be able to press the PTT button to lock, and then press and hold to unlock. I have a relatively dirty job and touching the screen after getting a text message is just too painful. I don't like spending 10 minutes cleaning the screen every time I have to tap that unlock key.
Anywho, I've been a Tilt owner for about a month so far and I love it. This forum is why I chose the Kaiser and I love the feeling of community.

I've been looking around for a few days and I still can't find anything on this. I would even love something to make it a one button unlock, or even two buttons, as long as I don't have to touch my screen.
Anyone have any ideas?

Unlock keypad is annoying... like seriously

Everytime I switch on my phone, the keypad locks up. I have to press the "Unlock" menu on the bottom left of the screen and then hit unlock again. I find this to be annoying. Any way to get rid of this?

Go to START -> SETTINGS -> PERSONAL -> TODAY -> ITEMS and uncheck "Device Lock" I believe if you don't have it as an item on your today screen, it won't boot up. However, don't take my word for it 100% , I never had this problem.

I ran into this same problem i was about to do something unholy to it! So yes check the battery status plug in..LOL

I use S2U2 for a keyboard lock.. It's nice and pretty, and has some nice previews of upcoming appointments, etc, but it's pretty heavy on ram. But I haven't seen anything as quick to unlock.

CSDEVCTRL by chrisstavrou is a great locking program. It is excellent for in-call locking and temporary unlocking during the call. It locks ALL buttons during a call, unlike many other lockers, so that when you're on a call and your phone is in your holster or pocket, it doesn't hang up by accident.
It has three different ways to unlock the screen: a tapping sequence, slide-to-unlock, and a button sequence. The slide and tap features can also be set to do up to four different things, such as slide-to-unlock, slide-to-hang-up, slide-to-open-speaker, slide-to-go-to-today.
It also offers many small bonuses, like a simple call blocker, bluetooth tweaks, backlight tweaks, and carrier name tweaks.

It's not like S2U2 in the sense that it doesn't have any sort of screen saver or visible skin. When I look at my phone, I see the same thing whether or not it is locked (I use SPB Mobile Shell 2.1, so I see the "Now" screen.)

Lock keypad softkey

Hi guys, i know how to change the soft key on the home screen - but does anyone know if and how you can change it so that the soft key just locks the keypad?

search the internet for the programm "devicelock.cab". Install this programm and change the function of the left softkey to this devicelock-programm. You find in the tweak-section how to change the softkey.

If you press an hold on the 'end call' button it locks the phone.

does the lockandoff program work with diamond ?

Yes, it does works with Diamond. I've been using it for a month.

..yes you are right, but not only the lock function, really useful
i also have a question, once the htc is locked can i still answer my phone call in "locked mode" ?
and ..
why not implement in the setup: lock and turn off htc ?

Because its pretty hard to call yourself to test!?

I tried it and when the phone rings it get's unlocked to be able to touch the screen... This program works exaktly as holding down the End Call button.

why not use S2U2 and link a softkey to ilock ?

Tried S2U2 and it works a bit better... To bad the screenbuttons can't be locked while a caller rings the phone. Want to remove any accidently answering/declining when pulling the phone out of the pocket....

That is an option in S2U2. Its exactly why I use it.

Thanks guys for your answers - those of you who said hold down the end key - i should have said - i do know that you can do that, but it just feels way to long winded and i wanted a 1 button press rather than holding the phone for about 5 seconds to lock it. Ive been using the lockandoff.exe, i like it. my only problem is, its starting to bug me that the light is always dim when the phone is locked - i have tried changing this with Advanced Config but it sticks and doesnt work. any guesses?

S2U2 is far and away the best and most comfortable locking solution for wm. in my opinion.

when i lock my HTC with devicelock and a call is coming in it will "UNLOCK" my HTC. I would prefere my HTC will keep locked until i unlock it
what do you think ? can the developer implement / change devicelock or maybe at least let the user choose if he want unlock the phone when a call is coming in or not. It happen already, when my HTC is in my poket and i rush to answer i press the wrong button and maybe close the call
A question: i set my devicelock to lock my HTC when i hold down the Phone OFF key. How to enter devicelock.cab settings if i want to change parameters? default i can enter settings by hold down the Phone OFF key, after i changed i don't know how
I also tried to uninstall devicelock with HTC software remove, it say ...removed but it is still inside because i still can use the"unlock" function. I don't know how to uninstall .....

In my humble opinion this one is the best screen lock app so far.
this is simply because it is so simple
nevertheless i have some notes:
it would be nice if it only lock incoming calls. it is not neccessary to lock the screen when pressing the "top"-button - when the screen is off it is locked, so you don´t need to lock it twice
it would be great if the screen is not black but transparent or translucent.
you could see the caller-images then.
maybe you could give the user the option to choose the way to unlock the device. this might be either to slide (as it is the case at the moment) or to use the "top"-button or the round "center"button for example. it is quite unlikely that you press one of those buttons by accident.
so the best program is the one that works although you don´t see it.
nevertheless, as i already said, i think this is the best screen lock app so far
