Hey everyone,
So I'm having an issue with Dutty's ROM, TCPMP, and Orb. All I'm trying to do is listen to a stream of music on Orb, and everytime I try, it fails. I've tried a soft reset, reassigning the file associations, changing orb's settings to a different media type, and reinstalling TCPMP to the .81 version. I've also tried copying new .dll's to the program folder, the windows folder and the folder where the cab was in which I opened the installer (the .dll's I installed were, "wmadmod", "wmsdmod", and "wmvdmod"), and I just keep getting the same error message, "Could not open URL!". I get the same error message if I try to watch a video. This has become extremely frustrating. If anyone has any idea how to fix this, please help. If not, is there any other comparable media player that would work with Orb that I could try? Any and all help again is greatly appreciated. Thanks again everyone.
check your computers firewall settings. Make sure in the orb config a OPEN PORT is put there.
Well I can get it to work on a PC, which tells me it should work on my phone, correct? So I don't know why it's not working on my phone. When I first installed Dutty's ROM, it worked, but after about two weeks, it stopped working, and I haven't been able to get it to work again since. I've had this issue before, and reinstalling TCPMP to the latest version and reinstalling the codecs needed to make it play, but it's not working now. I actually tried flashing my ROM to a clean Dutty with everything back to normal, but that didn't work either. I'll double check my router's firewall, but I don't think that's the issue; definitely a good observation though...Any other ideas?
try flashing it to different rom might help? At least you will know it's the rom or not.
Didn't solve the problem. I don't understand...
I am having same problem. I opened the right ports.
it says
Dialed: isp.cingular
cannot connect for an unknown reason. to check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings. If the problem continues, reset your mible device according to your manufacturers documentation and try again.
I opened all the right ports in my router. I ran a check in ORB and it passes, saying they are open. when on the orb site on my cell, it shows the videos, and even shows a small picture of the video next too it, but when I try to play it, I get the error above. i dont know what to do.

I had the same problem with Orb on Dutty's ROM (No. 6, AT&T version). What I ended up doing was creating a new network connection using the wap.cingular settings, then set that to the default network for programs that automatically connect. After that, Orb worked fine.

I tried this and still a no go. I figure I can use this post to help others, so I am going to show all my settings, just to make sure I am doing everything right.
Here are my PC settings. No software firewalls currently enabled.

also, just to note, I can stream the test video from test.orb.com or what ever. It does play, i think its a nin concert or something. However, when I try to stream my stuff it doesnt work. this includes both AUDIO and VIDEO. In the stream options on the website in orb, I have it set to just .3gp. It gives a bunch of options including .asx, flash, winamp, 3gp w/ aac etc. I tried them all, and none of them work, but right now its set at just regular .3gp.
I have 16/2 mbit internet service and my phone is 3G, so I dont think its a bandwidth issue.
I have an 8925 tilt w/ Dutty's ROM # 7.
Hey guys, I was having the same issues with ORB until I found this cab which sets the wap settings for att. if you have att maybe they will help you too, not really had much of a problem since I got this cab, and I've used it on many many tilt roms.
Hope it helps, post back your results!
Well I think i got it working!
I used the shogan thing above, an now atleast windows media player will stream. .asx. I was able to play bleach video, as well as a mp3. I tried 3gp, and it still doesnt work

Anyone able to get .3gp to work? If so, what settings and what player? I've got orb working under this rom with .asx under windows media player but nothing else. I was able to get it to work with the real media format under real player and it seemed to stream smoother, but no full screen in real player (and now I've somehow changed something that makes the phone try to download the file instead of stream under that format). No luck with 3gp at all - streaming player either tells me that the media format isn't supported or that it can't connect to the network. This is driving me nuts because media player disconnects way too often...
I am now using duttys touchflo rom, and having more problems.
However, I ran into a problem. I am trying to use ORB to stream video and music from home. Its .ASX stream. On Dutty’s No 7 rom, it used his custom windows media player, after some fighting, I got it to work. Now I am trying to do the same thing but its using a program called TCPMP. Every time it loads after clicking a link I get the error “file not found! –web “my doc\stream.wmvebasx”” How, can I get the streams to go back to windows media player, if it even exists in this rom? Any help with the streaming with ORB would be greatly appricated
as for the last poster, no I could not get .3gp to work at all Now I cant get .asx to work. Anyone got any idea's?

I was having the same problem, too. But after installing the "shogon" .cab file it started working (at least for my .asx stream). I haven't tried streaming a .3gp file on the Kaiser (mine is a CID unlocked Tilt). My speed tests calculated web speeds ranging between 64-230kbps before installing the shogon cab and it calculated 700+kbps afterward . ko0ky, do you know exactly what the cab changed in the configuration? Is it a proxy tweak? Thanks for posting the cab.
the issue is that you where using the att proxy, orb doesnt work when you connect via att/cingular proxy, that is the issue, that cab files removes the att proxy so now it works. The att proxy is useless and most media streaming doesnt work when you connect through it
I have old ATT Blue mMode...when I tried the shogun cing cab now I can't connect with the setting it made...had to revert back to my old mMode setting and now PIE won't connect at all??? What exactly besides creating a new connection with cingular settings does the shogun_cing.cab file do? As I need to reverse it...tried uninstalling it and resetting and still internet explorer won't connect...but Opera will???

Hi all,
Am tearing my hair out trying to figure this one out! I've got:
Windows Media
Coreplayer
GSPlayer
(Flash, not sure if this is needed)
All installed, as I'd like to listen to a radio station stream that I work on/manage the internet stream/technical setup for.
However it just won't connect at all! I have managed to play another shoutcast stream, but still never managed to get this one working.
Can anyone advise on why this could be? The stream in question is:
http://mobile:[email protected]:8000/hartlepool-mp3
Which works fine on all other players on the PC, etc, but cannot seem to figure why its not working on my Kaiser.
Thoughts/things to try, etc please!!
Can't see the link in full to analyse, or click it to open it.
Please repost it, perhaps not as a link but just as text and I'll take a look in the morning.
Cheers,
Joe
Oh strange when I pasted the link it was just a link, must have been the forum software that auto-linked it. Here it is, just cut the spaces out
http :// mobile:user @ arctic.thebmwz3.co.uk:8000/hartlepool-mp3
I've been trying a few other things here, and still cannot seem to figure out what is wrong with the stream/player on my Kaiser.
I've tried changing the stream from mp3 to ogg, same problem, have also set it not to require the username/password authentication, same problem.
Not sure what to try, anyone??
I stream a few stations, here's what I did;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350675
Good Luck.
Thanks for the tips, unfortunately since this is a small UK regional/community station that I operate, it isn't in any public listings, so cannot stream via pages or other links.
The bit i'm struggling with is why the kaiser won't stream the link, as its a fairly standard CBR mp3 streamed from icecast2 at 64kbps/22kHz and I cannot stream either over 3G or wlan when I'm at home, so that negates and proxy or anything like that with my cell provider, so it looks like I'm struggling with some form of incompatibility with my audio applications and the stream that I'm running.
Help! Don't suppose any kind souls out there can try my stream I posted and see if they can play it on their kaiser?
Thanks everyone for your input, its been driving me mad this!!

I tried the stream as posted, with .mp3 rather than -mp3, and without the mobile:[email protected] both as . and -
It couldn't even find the stream! Kept saying the file (etc, not typing the whole message) could not be found. Tried it on a couple of other streams for local radio I know of in South Wales, and it was fine. Couldn't seem to handle Radio 1 tho, but no loss there...
I have no clue about streams, so can't help with what might be wrong, but least this confirms that a Kaiser and WMP will run streaming internet radio. Maybe there is something on the config that a PPC couldn't handle? Does this stream work for you:
http://gmga.planetwideradio.com/RealWales
Thanks Steve, thats what I was wondering. Yes your link works fine which confirms that the streaming to my WM kaiser is fine, its obviously how I'm handling my own stream.
Interesting that you've tried all the combinations that I did, and with no luck, and yes very strange it doesn't find the feed at all and errors with unknown url, etc, I'm wondering if its somehow because the stream runs on port 8000 instead of 80?
However, in pocket IE, you can get to http://arctic.thebmwz3.co.uk:8000/ which is the admin for my icecast2 server, so PIE does seem to accept the alternative port too.
I'm very confused! I'm going to post to the icecast2 forum to see if there are any answers, but anyone else can give me any pointers too??
Cheers!
Right,
Chatting to the Icecast streaming developers, they suspected the authentication being the problem.
So I disabled authentication and sure enough the stream connected immediately, so I suspect there is a bug in the internet/backend on the WM that doesn't interpret multiple colons correctly, as obviously I had two in the URL, one for the TCP port number to use, and one to separate the username/password.
So think thats the problem.
Version 1.2.3 came out this week and I have downlaoded it. However, far from solving the youtube problem (i.e. where the spinning wheel goes round forever) the spinning wheel just blinks for a second and then nothing.
Is anyone else having this problem? IIf not, what are your settings for buffering etc?
I had the problem with wheel spinning around forever but only if I had was connected via T-Mobiles WnW Plus GPRS. If connected to WiFi then the video would start playing. I just presumed that T-Mobile were blocking the ports, is that the case?

I have t-mobile too and they definitely prohibit streaming video using WMP on the basic webnwalk tariff. However, youtube works for me using either VTAP or the tcmp/flashbundle. So I still don't understand why there should be a problem with Coreplayer

I'm with AT&T Wireless here in the United States, and I'm using The Core Player on my Tilt and YouTube works fine for me. My buffering settings are as follows-
Normal buffer size 2400 KB
Preload at underrun 70.0%
Preload for audio 64 KB
YouTube on Core Player works fine for me on EDGE, 3G and WiFi.

I have the same settings, but still no joy
You WILL be limited on the quality of the feed based on many factors... let me explain... CorePlayer is the first media player to feature Configurable YouTube quality control.... You control the bandwidth and quality that your platform can handle. From Low, Medium, to High quality (H.264) streams.
What happens if you get a 'buffering' icon forever.... that means that its a connectivity issue, BW or device capabilities.... So what we are going to do to make it easier for those less fortunite to have infinite BW resources is:
- Add our progressive download support sooner rather then later. This will help to cache/playback content
- Add an 'auto seek' for the quality setting to make it more seemless.
Here are some more things you may not be aware of.... as well as some things you can do with YouTube in CorePlayer:
- Disable YouTube 'Tools > Preferences > Select Page > Network' and uncheck 'Enable YouTube Support' Restart and its gone
- Set stream/quality 'Tools > Preferences > Select Page > Network > YouTube Format'
* Low (RTSP) default video resolution / audio
** Medium (RTSP) 448x336 44100hz
*** High (H.264) 480x360 44100hz
- Change the default YouTube Profile to be shown 'Tools > Preferences > Select Page > Network > YouTube User' change to the user you wish
- Use http://m.youtube.com on Pocket IE (mobile) or IE (desktop) and click "play' to play a video in CorePlayer.
- See previously played YT videos in the CoreTheque Media Library under 'Top 50', '100 Last Played' or 'Not Rated'
- Open YouTube Videos the 'EASY' way. 'File > Open URL' youtube://123456 (replace 123456 with the video ID, for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=123456 )
Also note that SOME european users that sit behind a cell PROXY will not be able to connect... now we are getting reports that is some instances that our HTTP Tunneling support does work.... but there is not much we can do in this case as its a limition of the carrier.
ONE LAST THING.... this is just the beginning.... Starting with the next release we will have a HUGE new feature page called 'Channels' that will have many of the webs top video sites.... DailyMotion, Break.com, Revision3 (with DiggNation, TekZilla, The Digg Reel), CNET, etc.
Heres a sneak peak of just DailyMotion

The funny thing is that it worked fine on a slightly older version of Coreplayer so I can't be 100% that it is my provide T-Mobile as I do have the Plus version of the data package which should allow everything but VOIP.

will there be a Save Video feature in upcoming releases?

We are thinking about how best to do this. IE; a similar function like Quicktime Pro where it allows you to 'save' video. We will however need to add progressive downloading first... but this is planned for 1.3.x anyway.

Yes, but "fairly well" is not enough neither GDI is "good enough"
CoreCodec did confirmed yesterday on their community site that QTV is indeed not supported in WM6.1 and that they are looking into this now.
Which makes me thinking that HTC did changed rendering DLL's blocking QTV
I changed the Normal buffer size to 480kb as well enabled microdrive mode(not sure what it does or is) and now it works fine on Rogers 3G where as before it would just keep loading.

haha, I miss one day in here and i find myself way behind. Thanks for the tip.
what does this prog have that you cant just simply use windows media player for...i listen to audio(mp3's, stream live radio and news, and watch sports and news broadcast's on windows media player, so what specifics other then being just and audio manager does this thing do perfect for listening to music.
Also is this one less resource intensive than the previous one (one on the Cruise ver 1.02 build 1017.717)? I had read a thread somewhere comparing the cpu usage of wmp compared to audio manager and remember audio manager being more resource intensive. Also anyone know how this one performs when opening up with over a thousand songs? The aforementioend one lags.

I prefer audio manager over windows media. First, audio manager is more user friendly, second, you can trim music for your ringtones, what else is there to state?
this does seem a bit faster than the older htc audio manager...before if a song was playing, and i went to the library, all songs...and just scrolled through them quickly using the d-pad...the music would stop every few seconds, now i can scroll from top to bottom and it doesn't skip at all.
thanx for the find...but only if i could get the true htc touch diamond audio manager w/ the cover art. that plus htc diamond weather and i'd be set
you can add mp3's on your sd card or device to be your ringtones without this application tho....so i still see no difference in this and WMplayer other then cool lookingness and its an htc app specifically for audio playing and not for a wide range of things like how windows media player is.

It comes down to personal choice. I like how Audio Manager handles its categories.
yea personal taste is what it all boils down too...i just hate wasting space in my device thats unneccessary even tho i have a 2gig card (i have a huge phobia of going over 35-40mb of space on my total of 125 on my device storage not microsd card) im currently at 35mb..with 90mb on the dot free on my device. Becauuse obviously the more device storage u waste up, you start clogging up your phone and it starts slowin down and eventually you have the tough chose of bearing on with the slight but burdening sluggishness or hard reset your phone and start from scratch again and even if you uninstal apps, some of their .dlls or temp files still stay embeded in your phone and you will never be able to delete them unless you hunt them down in the windows folder and im too scared that i might delete the wrong file and it could be a system file and i end up doing some dumb**** ...but i also do wanna try it out and see if having another media player thats specifically for playing mp3's is worth it. So there you have it, a break down of my harddriveaphobia...but for you guys ill try out the app. This was like therapy..thanks nobody that really helped.

One great thing about Audio Manager over WMP is that it can remember the last song you were playing. Good luck doing that with WMP.
So...
It's not diamond manager, it's only images skin for HTC audio manager packed to CAB file...
Better is WMP diamond skin
I seem to be the first to say this. But after Audio manager is installed. Were is it suposed to be located? been looking around for 30 min now and i cant still find it...
guys I installed this program and I can't find the program in my program list at all. after I installed the program, it shows that its installed in my phone, its in my remove programs list in settings...but theirs no program icon in programs...and theirs no folder for it in my program files folder on my device and in my storage card where I asked it to install to. So has anyone ran into this problem before? I can't open this app at all because their is no folder or program icon for it...can someone help? p1tater, redbandana? somebody? thanks
trying to install the cab by itself does not change anything about the audio manager skin...so is their some files I need to replace to get the updated diamond audio manager to work correct?
This looks to be just a theme. All it does is copy some pngs to the windows folder.
I have tune-in radio app ( pro ) and I have an avid user of CNN Newsroom station - http://tunein.com/radio/CNN-s20407/ - its the exact one on TV
This used to work over 3G but now only works on Wi-Fi
I am with Rogers running ICS ( results are same with older ROMS ), same issue with another friend who has Captivate
I thought it was Rogers blocking it but it works on my friends iPhone ( with Rogers ) and I for the life of me cannot figure it out
My workaround is to use VPN but I get lot of disconnections
Can some AT & T'ers and Canadians try this on their phone and let me know please
iPhone used to have a s/w called VOIP over 3G, which tricked it by making the phone think its on Wi-Fi while on 3G. Is there any such s/w for Android?
Please, its a free download..can someone just try and let me know

Same for me in Montreal. All radios are working on 3G but CNN Newsroom (and CNN News Update) still won't connect.
Will check later at home on Wifi.
TuneIn RadioPro v4.0
EDIT1: On wifi I do get feeds but not 3G.
EDIT2: Tried the Free version and can only connect to CNN News update on 3G but the CNN Situation Room is still not connecting. I think the feed being 32k wma might have something to do with it.
EDIT3: Yep wma is the culprit. Every stream that was wma either 32k,50k or 64k could not open over 3G but were fine under Wifi. As nothing to do with TuneIn being Pro or not.

If it works its because the stream it is either AAC or MP3 format. For what i read Android does not support Windows Format (wma, wmv). It does not have the licensed codec to play it so that's why it does not work.

Actually I got it working if I use US VPN, so is this still an wma/androidissue?
Corporate WiFi filters out radio or other streams - to reduce charges. So testing at home is the best.
WMA streaming didn't work for me in non-IE browsers.
Can't u use Pandora Radio?
Another thing - CNN sux, provides bunch of official U.S. government or partisan lies. Can't u find alternative more interesting source?

The only thing i see is that the protocol used may have something to do with how the app sees the stream. It works via wifi (there goes my theory about wma not being supported) so there are no reason for 3G not to work.
VPN can be considered similar to Wifi since it uses the ip protocol to establish the tunneling and might be seen as "Wifi" link.
Is it a android issue ?... i'm no longer sure.

It works on iPhone with same carrier
Pandora doesnt have CNN, in addition to not being available to Canadians. I can make it work with VPN but then might as well listen to CNN with that
I don't mind listening to propaganda FOX, direct me to a link ( same as their TV news )
wifi-only option
I'm looking for something just the other way 'round. A wifi-only option, I noticed iOs has an advanced option panel, but can't seem to find on the free android version
it works for me:good:
Lyrics not showing up in music player. When i tried the same mp3 in ipod touch, I can see the lyrics. anybody facing the same issue?:crying:
I tell you you're not the only one... I'm not sure about this but seems like HTC One is slow on fetching lyrics depending on the country your in.
same, however sometimes when I do get the lyrics, it ends up being the wrong one.
Consider yourself lucky then... Had 170+ mp3 here on my phone for over a month now have yet to see any lyrics showing up eversince
This has nothing to do with the HTC One. It has to do with the very limited GraceNote Media database. I have only found a few albums that have lyrics. And sometimes only two or three songs on the album have them.

This I might agree... I do have mp3s that are widely famous though... Really don't understand why gracenote doesn't have them. Maybe I should try some lady gaga songs and Psy songs lol! I heard they are blockbuster hits :silly:

Grizzly Bear - 'Sheilds' album has lyrics for all the songs on the album. In fact, on one song (and only one), the lyrics were displayed karaoke style on the background, in addition to being available to scroll through.

A few others that probably no one knows: some songs by Fog '10th Ave Freakout' album, I think 5 out of 13 songs, and the last 2 songs on the 'For Hero: For Fool' album by Subtle.
Ok, I downloaded the album, played the same song you show (Yet Again), and nothing happens.
It looks like It depends on the country you are. (I'm from Santiago, Chile).
Going to try using some kind of VPN, and try again.
Thanks!!!

Hmm, strange. Good luck! But judging by the hit rate I'm having with lyrics, you aren't missing much!

Same with me. Download Grizzly Bear - 'Sheilds' and I have no lyrics. I am from Czech Republic
Could you by chance share the exact same mp3 you had lyrics on? I'm not sure but maybe it's on the meta tags or whatever but having the actual file should solve some of the mysteries of this lyrics thingy.
Ok, today I downloaded TunnelBear to create a vpn to USA and music showed Lyrics instantly.
It completely depends where you access. Thanks all for your responses.

I tried TunnelBear but still without success
Hi all.. News and good ones.
After connecting with TunnelBear, and successfully being able to see Lyrics, today I open the music player. I'm in my mobile network, no wifi or VPN and to my surprise, Lyrics works!!!!
Problem solved.
Try to connect your phone through a VPN to USA or Europe, once you can see Lyrics for the first time, Disconnect from the VPN and enjoy forever .

You also have to switch your phone language, for example select language to English (United States).
I find soundhound app from play store
Will
1) find song title of any (most) music you play, whether played on your phone or any other device near your phone
2) displays lyrics
