Does anyone know how to stop the ActiveSync program from automatically running when it is not hooked up to my PC? I try to keep programs Iam not using from running to keep my battery from running down. Any advise would be appreciated.

- In ActiveSync, go to Schedule and enable Manual.
- In Phone settings, go to Time Zones tab, and uncheck Automatic change time zone and clock.
That should do it!
You can also install QuickMenu. There's an option to stop ActiveSync when you unplug it from your PC. That works perfect for me. (Combined with above settings)
Thank you for the advise.

In ActiveSync schedule is always greyed out so it's not selectable whether the phone is plugged in or not, sychronizing or sychronized. So how do I do it?!?

Hello again,
My phone vibrates when a call is connected. I know there is a program called pocketAlarm that enables this feature but I never installed it!
What is causing this?
(I like this feature but Im just curious as to how and where this feature was enabled)
Thanks in advance.
Do you have any other contact managers installed? I know inesoft Address Book can be configure to vibrate on connection. I didn't think it was an option in a default build of WM 6.
I do have Inesoft installed but I don't see an option anywhere in the program to enable or disable this feature. Am I missing something?
check this: Settings, Personal tab, sounds & notifications, notifications tab, connection disconnected.
Make sure vibrate at the bottom is not checked. If it is, whenever you dial a phone number the internet disconnect will cause the unit to vibrate. Same thing with connection established.
I checked there and the vibrate mode is not selected, yet it still vibrates when it connects to a call. I am just wondering what software or option is causing it to do this.
The feature is hidden and can only be accessed if you enable Options "Show Tray Icon". Then go to the WM's default Today screen, tap the tray icon and the setting is there under options. I think it is silly to hide it there as people who disable the tray icon will not find this feature.

Try Start>Settings>Personal Tab>Phone>Scroll all the way to the right until you see the Advanced tab>Remove the tick from "Vibrate device when connection is established">Click OK until you see your home screen.
Your connected call shouldn't vibrate anymore - well it worked for me anyway!

This is not available on my stock AT&T (bloatware removed) 6.1 ROM. There is no "Advanced" tab. I would like to enable this feature. I've tried installing a CAB to do this, but no luck.

I am currently using this ROM:

Its quick and stable - I can thouroughly recommend it!
I am not sure where you can change the vibrate on call connect setting on a different ROM. Perhaps its worth searching the registry for the word vibrate?
If I find anything I will post to let you know.

Go to settings for HTC home weather (where you select city) and de-select autoupdate.
This has been covered in other threads.
ok gonna help you out.. here's what you do:
let it update when u click over and then once it's done click on the town name in the top left of the weather tab. It will take you to "Select City" menu. From there click Menu at the bottom right and go to "Weather Options". Once you're in there, uncheck "Download weather data automatically*"
Actually, you'll find the Auto Update is pants anyway.
Maybe it's city based, but London is never updated, so when I click on it always as to connect to update. This is on a Vario III / TMobile version of the Kaiser.
Found this on the TYTN2 as well.
So, just don't click on Weather, and you'll be fine!

Oh, OK - Any more information on this?
Did T-Mobile disable this part of the HTC Menu?
Will installing a HTC Menu cab fix this?
I realise this is a little off topic, and that my answer was a cheeky swipe and not a helpful answer, but a brief come back would be appreciated.

If you cant update with your operator, no changing of the SW will fix this. Try updating the weather when you have an active WiFi or Activesync internet connection.

Sorry, I have mis-informed you.
It willl update over GPRS, but whenever I click on the Weather tab, it's blank and says "Attempting to download data..." and then connects (GPRS is already connected) and after 8-12 seconds, updates the weather.
This is despite it being set to Auto Update - hence my comment that Auto Update is "pants", and is not going to use data unless you actually click on the weather tab.........
Any idea on how to fix this are greatly appreciated.
It's not a big thing, but it's annoying.
I think it's just using a different definition of "auto update" - it isn't meant to be updating in the background, which seems to be what you're after. In fact, if it did, I suspect many more would complain!
All "auto update" means is that it will go off and get the latest weather if you click on that tab, and it hasn't been updated in the last x minutes. If you don't have "auto update" on, it won't, and you'll have to specifically ask it to.

As far as I know, that is the normal function of the auto update and thats why the originator of the thread is asking why it tries to connect to his non-active GPRS connection when he clicks on it. Auto update is not some form of regular timed update. This method prevents data access usage when you dont need it (costs money to most!).
Autoupdate updates when you select the weather icon or when you connect to the internet via Activesync, when deselected, you have to tell it to update yourself.
Hope that makes sense.

Oh, I See.
Well I know several TYTN2 / Vario3 owners who feel (like I do) that "Auto Update" should be Automatic, not when you trigger (a manual request) it by opening the tab.
I can see that for non flat rates data tarrifs this could become an issue, but then un-checking "Auto Update" would be a sensible option........
However, if that's how it's supposed to work, so be it.
Hi i have set my Diamond to check my email every 30mins but it does not turn off the GPRS once its checked it. is there a software or tweak that will allow me to do this.
Blumin COSTLY!!!!
Use SchapĀ“s Advanced Config to select a timeout for an idle data connection (amongst so many other things/tweaks.....)....
Sorry can you show step by step where to config the timeout?
THX in advance.
Thanks for the reply i used schaps but it does not state a time out period.
From anywhere in the application go down to bottom right hand side and tap menu
then go to connection settings, there you should see a box with Disconnect after and a selection of timings. Hope this helps.
Hi,
and thanks for your help...I supposed it could be the right setting, but I thought that by doing it, it will stop any kind of data connection, even if I'm on the web. I mean it should stop data connection anyway according to the setting...no metter if system is checking for new mail or I'm with safari on the web...
I think that it will only stop data connection if there is no action for xxx minutes, ie if there is no information being transferred. So, if you are actively browsing or downloading email or whatever, then it won't shut the connection down.
Well...tested and it worked...at least for mail chaking...now I have to test it with safari on...
Thanx a lot again!

Ok, throughout the day I noticed that the Media Net (EDGE) starts up (two little E's at the top of the tilt displaying) for several min. When I tap the E, it shows "Media Net (EDGE)" connected. Sometimes it stays connected for 15 to 45mins, other times just a few min. When I go to task manager, it does not show anything running. I do not have anything updating, the only two programs I have I update manually which is SBSH weather and a POP email account. How can I tell what it is looking for or what data it is transferring etc.. Why is it connecting?
So with this, how can I figure whats going on and how do I fix it, or this normal.
I do have KasierTweak, is there something in there I can adjust?
Thanks
and yes did a search, I guess I could not find the proper wording to get the right result's

But I dont know what u want now, do u want to stop it?
Edit: are u sure u have the auto updates turned off?(in weather)
could u post all installed apps?
Ok, all my weather updates are turned off.
Memaid will show all programs running and running processes.
Which one should I look under when the Media Net kicks on?
Question what will I'll be looking for, what specific program or what will Media Net (EDGE) look like. Will it say Media Net or something?
Like for instance, right now they have 14 processes running
all .exe processes

No, it won't appear there. When it connects on its own look at the running processes and try to guess if you can find one that might require net access.
Another hint, you say you have a POP e-mail account set up. Check that it isn't defined to check for mail automatically each X minutes. If I remember well this can get enabled by default when you add an account.
Ok, this is what is showing in the "running processes" before the mediaNet kicks on. I have not been able to catch it yet while running. Anything in here looks suspicious that should not be there?
device.exe 2.75mb
cprog.exe 2.63mb
gwes.exe 2.37mb
filesys.exe 2.34mb
shell32.exe 1.87
Transport.exe 315.76kb
services.exe 295.67kb
connmgr.exe 147.71kb
MortScript.exe 115.90kb
HTC ActionScreen.exe 47.90kb
poutlook.exe 31.90kb
saddaemon.exe 31.90kb
NK.exe 0Bytes
Thanks
I've never seen "Transport.exe". A quick search tells me about some Arcsoft program. Maybe it's checking for updates?
As Mikulec asked, a list of the programs you've installed could help... we don't know about all the programs out there...
The programs I have installed;
Kaisertweak
HTC Home plugin
Live Search
Opera
HHC Customize
ILauncher
Pocketweather
HTC Diamond Qwerly
Battery Status
Memaid
Finger Friendly Friends
Again guys thanks for your time and help.
MediaNet just kicked on and I went to running processes and I did not see anything different than what I listed above. Will check again though to be sure.

this is probably the culprit for your dilemma unless you are accidentally selecting the weather tab on htc home
ok guys went through a rechecked all my settings, I did check the HTC home screen weather to make sure it was on manual update (i do not use the weather program) also made sure that all my auto settings on pocketweather is turn off. I did make one other adjustment though, will see if this helped.
Funny thing is that when MediaNet kicks on, it doesn't appear to effect my battery.
Again, thanks for the replies. Will advise the outcome.
Anybody,
Is it possible for you to include an option in the date setting to turn on/off daylight savings adjustment. I live in Jamaica and we do not adjust for daylight savings, so everytime I sync my D2 with Outlook during DST it adjusts my clock forward 1hr.
When I reset the time on my phone all my appointments are thrown off by an hour.
This is driving me CRAZY!
Help please.
Advanced Config 3.3 has a setting to ignore DST as does some other tweak apps.
Try this...
use a reg editor to change the setting...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Clock\HomeDST
HomeDST=0 (disable DST)
HomeDST=1 (enable DST)

I used Registry Editor and did this, set HomeDST to 0 as soon as I connect to the computer to sync it sets it back to 1 (enabled).
What next?
There a registry key to enable/disable automatic DST change :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Clock\AutoDST
AutoDST=0 (disable automatic DST change)
AutoDST=1 (enable automatic DST change)
In fact, Advanced Config toggles this one.
Try and let us know.
No solution
Hello!
I already disabled DST and auto DST from the registry to no avail.Time sync in "UMTS/GSM services" is disabled.Once in 3-4 days my phone switches back to winter time instead of keeping the standard time and screws my morning alarm and my appointments. My desktop is set to standard time so no screwing from that connection via ActiveSync.Despite the season I need to keep the standard time instead of winter time.
Any solutions?

thanks man ... works like magic
DST should automatically handelled by the ROM instead of a switch I think.
I use Photon ROM and never had this issue.
During the DST changeover here the device was good and corrected times automatically. Also the calender events, alarm all invoked at correct time too.
