Changing keyboard sounds - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I managed to tweak the registry and add sounds to change the keyboard sounds on my kaiser. I even downloaded some sounds from this site and am using the transformers sound as my default; but when I try and add my own wav files...No Luck!
I encode the wave files to the specifications as the sounds i downloaded and still no luck. Can anyone tell me what settings they use when they create wav files. I use Nero 7 as my audio tool but any info appreciated...Thanks

are you talking about the sliding tone?
if so
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > HTC > SlidingSound
Within this registry folder there will already be 3 folders numbers 0, 1 and 2. Highlighy SlidingSound then click on Edit > New Key. Name the key the next available number. Most likely this will be 3. Now you can either copy the three values from the other listings, or create new ones from scratch by highlighting 3 and clicking Edit > New String Value. They need to look like the following with the left values listed under Name and the right values under Data:
Default - whatever_name_you_want
in - filename1.wav
out - filemane2.wav
make sure you put the files into the windows directory. credit goes to "Bgrngod" on the AT&T forums/

this should do it, check it out: http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=cingular&thread.id=72058

I've done this and it works with the wav files that I downloaded from the internet but the problem is when I try to use my own wave files, it doesn't work. What bit rate should I use or are there requirements that only work?

i'm not sure if there is a bit rate requirement, I've done it to 3 other .wav clip sets all with perfect results. upload your files, i'll give it a try, see if we get the same results.

Cool!!! Thanks.......it's all very odd that the clips of the same kind will not work.....Guess we'll have to wit

One last thing......what audio software do u use???

for clips from movies, i mostly just search the net for them. there are tons out there.
for songs and or audio files i have, i use mp3 cutter trial version and wma cutter trial. it only allows up to 30 sec clips on the trial, but my phone only rings for 25 seconds so any more is just taking up space.
source for the music is either cds, napster, or itunes.

Here's my wav files.....really appreciate this!

Alright i made a cab that does the registry changes and pastes the Default .wav files in the /windows folder. All you need to do is make the 2 sound files that you would like.
Name them:
Custom-in.wav
Custom-out.wav
In the settings menu there will be a new field under the sliding sound icon named "custom". select that and you should be good... ENJOY
http://rapidshare.com/files/79748184/SH4Y_Sliding_Sounds_Configure.cab

The cab worked awesome along with the defaults wav files but my wav files still won't play? Guess I'll try different bit rates......unless someone tries my wavs for feedback

SMS Wave file settings

I downloaded some very small 10k wav files to use as notifications and SMS alerts..
I can play them with WindowsMediaPlayer.. on my pc and on my phone..
I have them in the windows directory and can select them as an alert.. but they dont play...
is there certain wav settings they need to be?
Bit rate, sample rates, mono or stereo..
maybe a setting i need to check in the registry?
Sounds like you're having a better experience than me. Can you post some links to the software you are using for this wonderful user experience?
If you are refering to the sms program im using to assign ringtones its mortring 0.992 pretty neat program, but only seems to work with wave files...

Works for me.
Rename MP3Trimmer.exe.0409.mui to MP3Trimmer.exe.0407.mui
you have to use TotalCommander for this.
so, If I backrom my kaiser to a non-manilla rom, I can use this? awesome.

I feel like installing applications in general
but features like this :
• Add Audio Silence! In an MP3 file, silence isn't just zeroes. The silent part must be encoded in exactly the same way as the rest of the file. Previously, adding silence to MP3 files could be tricky.
But MP3 Trimmer uses a clever approach to the problem; It will simply copy a portion from within the song (of desired length) to the beginning or end of your MP3 file, and change the gain of that portion to 0%. The result is complete silence that is encoded in exactly the same way as the rest of the song, without re-encoding and quality loss!
You can even use this feature when batch processing numerous files, or using the Auto-Trim feature!
• QT-import - The import parser now performs a thorough scan inside QuickTime mov-containers for valid MP3 data. In short, this means if you edit MP3 files (with cut, copy & paste) inside the QuickTime player * - and save it as a QuickTime movie file (.mov) - you can import the .mov into MP3 Trimmer and re-save it as a 100% valid MP3.
• Batch processing further improved and more accurate now. The batch analysis routine is better to identify files that need repair. In addition, the Auto-create filename feature is more reliable now. The Batch repair feature will also try harder to maintain valid ID3 tag data during repair.
• Sort out good / bad files – New option in Batch processing mode; When performing 'Analysis only' you can choose to collect either all good files (that don't need repair) or all broken files (that need repair) in a specified destination folder. Time-saving when you wish to quickly sort out files based on their condition.
• A long time suggestion was implemented; upon completion of various tasks - if Trimmer is in the background - it will bounce the dock icon for attention.
• Smarter file renaming in Batch mode. If a duplicate file was found when attempting to save or copy during batch processing, MP3 Trimmer will simply add incremental numbering to the filenames and save the files whithout reporting any errors.
• Even more handsome – Finally, MP3 Trimmer got a new icon and a slightly redesigned main window interface.
(* Although it's possible to edit with the QuickTime player, it's not recommended since the QT player cannot stop you from performing "invalid" edits (according to MPEG ISO-standards).

Streaming Radio App? (i.e. Shoutcast)

Can someone recommend a streaming radio application for files such as Shoutcast? I cannot seem to find any, and I have also searched.
Thanks.
Resco Radio 1.90. If you do purchase it, I have modified the default skin to make it readable on VGA and to put 15 shortcut buttons on the screen instead of 10. Let me know if you need it.
If you have the stream-adress like
http://stream-hautdebit.frequence3.net:8000 or
http://house.mthN.net:8500
you can use MortPlayer.

Pocket Player will do it and you don't even have to upload the links yourself. They have done the work for you. It works very nicely and Resco radio is also good. Just depends on what you want and for what. I have both and use both.

Could you post a picture of your skin and does it work in landscape also?
I am using the default VGA skin and it is fine, but nothing really fancy about it.
Here is an image of the modification I made to the default skin, and a zip file with the skin change. I did not modify the landscape mode, only the portrait mode. Basically, all I changed was the size of the fonts so they would be easier to read on the VGA screen, and I made 15 buttons instead of 10. Unzip the .zip file and put the default.rs file in \Program Files\Resco Pocket Radio\Skins\default_vga\
I would suggest copying the one that is there already to a temp folder first, so if you do not like mine, you can always go back.
The one problem with 15 buttons is that you get less space for names. What I did was modify the file \Program Files\Resco Pocket Radio\radios\user_presets_fast.rrd with a text editor (notepad in windows xp). There is a line in there for each button (0 through 14). A sample line is:
CAT "Cat3"
RAD "Radio (io) Classical Favorites" "io Classical Fav" "Radio (io) Classical Favorites"
STR "http://cast.voxcdn.net:8000/2917-MP3-RadioIO-Classical-Favs-128" "128" "MP3" a
END
END
The middle name of the three names in quotes is the display name on the button, so I edited it to be a shorter name. This is "Cat3" which means it is button 4 - or the first button on row 2.
I use the free version of kinoma which has no expiry, it works perfectly with all shoutcast and is searchable so all you have to put into it's search is either the name of the station you want or the genre of music.
It is excellent and pretty much trumps everything mentioned here when you factor in the price
How about Pandora? There's a cab floating around for that! It's not pretty (in VGA) but works...
Use MortPlayer, simply put yourself an m3u together, like:
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,ETN.fm Ch1 256k
http://192.87.65.61:8100
#EXTINF:-1,ETN.fm Ch2 256k
http://192.87.65.61:8200
#EXTINF:-1,.977 The 80s Channel
http://scfire-dtc-aa05.stream.aol.com:80/stream/1040
#EXTINF:-1,.977 The Hitz Channel
http://scfire-mtc-aa02.stream.aol.com:80/stream/1074
and save it on your device or storage card.
Afterwards, add the m3u to your favorites, this way you can slide through your collection and all stations will become another playlist/album.

That's cool, thanks! Can mort, or any other player besides wmp, play mms streams? I'd love to stream mms://wmc1.liquidviewer.net/wpya on something other than wmp, but can't figure out how to do it. I've tried mort and pocketplayer.

Try adding the mms as a regular stream, you can do so under favorites. Or try adding it in the m3u. Besides: If you open a station in Winamp you get many servers sorted by their webload. So if you copy only one, like i did, you may lose it someday. This never happened to me, just as a hint.
I'm particulary looking for a way to download the pls with the servers generated by the station as you listen into it and add it as a new favorite. Maybe it is possible to link mortplayer directly to the pls. I will try this on my way to work.
Edit: If you run into trouble, because your 3G-Provider is BLOCKING the stream after a couple of minutes try to open a vpn-connection to your home or office-server and route your webradio-traffic through it.

Well, that didn't work, i'll ask in the mortplayer forums ... You can add the generated m3u as a link (fe http://etn.fm/playlists/etn2beta.m3u) and the "loading favorites structure" screen loads a bit longer, but no success, it doesn't show up.
Edit: Works now! Trying to set up a php script now that simply includes the server m3u's...

WMV on TCPMP

Hello all (Freaks ,Nerds, and all other Crecks) i´m a newby here because my
english is Bumpy but i hope you now what i mean.
Do anyone here know the way to compleed assoziations of TCPMP-0[1].72RC1-ARM-PPC-recomp-03.cab (runn´s verry good on my Touch-pro) to play WMV Files ?
Change bevor, on the PC with (for Example) the Programm "Super" is not rearly good if im not at my Home.
Thanks for every Idea
Bernd35
Please answer for me "lik a child" and ill understand verry Better
every day a little bid ;oD
did you install the cab yet? to do that, copy it over to your device and open up 'file explorer'. then find the saved cab and open it up in file explorer. This will install it.
If it is installed already, and it still doesn't work, you will need a registry editor or the program 'total commander' to change the association (assuming tcpmp play wmv files). If that's the case, post again and I'll give you directions.
edit:
Oh, on rereading your post, it looks like you already have your program up and running. find and instal total commander. Find one of your files, right click (hold down on icon) and click on properties. Click associate tab. Click associate. For the command, type in "\Program Files\TCPMP\player.exe" including quotes. You may need to edit the command for your devices settings. Under parameter, type "%1" including quotes. For icon file, type '\Program Files\TCPMP\player.exe' WITHOUT the quotes. Index is '-1000' WITHOUT the quotes. You may need to soft reset to get it to work.
I had the same problem with .mp4 files. I made the association using a registry editor, but I think this way is easier. If this doesn't work, post again and I'll dig out the registry settings.
I assume you have...
Clicked options,
settings,
Select page--File associations
checked 6th box??? (Windows Media File (WM,WMV))
Check your file associations.
Thanks for your answer´s, Atachments show my Condition until NOW
i`ll reply again if I sucsessfully (or not ) and why i belive so.
See you again,
Bernd35
Hi again
i testet the asotiation with the extention :"associate selected Program with this file typ":
WMV file with TCPMP .
Answers are :
1.) Player: AUdio codec (WMV) not supportetby the player!
2.) Player: Video codec (WMV 8 ) not supportet by the player!
I understand this because The Pictures, iload up jesterday, show this-.
In foretime i remember i have a VLC Player on my PC with an extra downloaded Codec add on .
Do everybody have a Idea to have a WMV ad on for the TCPMP-Player?
Bernd35
I'm running .72RC1...have you ried associating with EVERY type of file? The only thing I don't check are picture files (bmp, jpg). and eveything works fine. Is it on only one file giving you the error or all?
Dear Telegraph0000
you are correct; i do not read "All Files"- ; but i still hope it is a possibillity to do that.
In the meantime i found a site with "Core Player", and read that this is a following Player to TCPMP but its not free - .
i do not wish, to buy a kompleetly new Player for one file-asiotiation because i am verry sadisfact with the TCPMP the last years.
My meening: The Media-player is SH.., totally old, and unflexibel, therefore i used the TCPMP a verry long time. I think the positive feathures are everybody knows.
sorry for the Rumple, Bumple of my englisch, it´s like a defekt Mixer and i hope you understand nevertless nearly what i mean.
Best greetings Bernd35
Forgotten : every WMV-File will not work.

[How to] Change default system sounds

Hello guys,
Im trying to change some of the default system sounds (CM9),
they are located at
/system/media/audio/ui <folder>
although im changing 1-2 ogg files (just to check them) when i reboot (clear cache&davlink) the sounds are not playing at all, if i change them back to original files they play again normaly.
What am i doing wrong?
Even though you are replacing them with ogg files I guess maybe they're not encoded the same way. Try replacing one with the other (changing the names of the original files) and see if that works. If it works it's probably the encoding.
By the way, what kind of sounds are you changing? Other than notifications and ring tones I don't see what you could ever want to change... is it like keyboard clicks?
I have done this on cm7 and cm9 successfully. i got the iphone lock sounds as an mp3, renamed them to lock.ogg and unlock.ogg, cut and pasted them in the above mentioned folder, and done! there is an app in the market called ui utility, that's where I got the sound files. good luck.
