The cruise seems to be identical to the kaiser, and HTC says that it is USB 2.0
http://www.htc.com/product/03-product_htctouch_cruise.htm
Do you think that the kaiser can be updated with the cruise drivers ?
I'm guessing that the USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 depends on the hardware - UNLESS HTC have decided to build in some useful hardware that we can't use... this has obviously never happened before such as gps chip in Hermes, video chip in Kaiser etc...
Over to the clever people - are our usb ports limited by hardware or software?
Read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350347 - USB 2.0 Full Speed (which is what the TyTN II and Touch Cruise are both rated at is barely faster than USB 1.1. It's USB 2.0 Hi Speed thats much faster.

May be.
But why there is no mention of USB 2.0 on kaiser specs?

I think the answer will come from cruise forum

There's no need for the answer to come from the Cruise forum. It depends where you look on the HTC site. Here in the manual (warning 6 Mb pdf file) http://www.htc.com/support/pdf/htctytnII/Kaiser_HTC_English_Manual_web.pdf right at the end in the specs, USB 2.0 Full Speed is mentioned. Maybe HTC received complaints about it being on the website specs, who knows why they've removed it from there. As you can see from the link I provided earlier, it's not well known that there are different speeds offered by Full Speed USB 2.0 vs Hi Speed USB 2.0. Many people would just mistakenly assume mention of USB 2.0 Full Speed means 480 Mbs rather than the 12 Mbs max that it actually is. Although I knew the difference from way back (I used to work in IT), I must admit when I bought my TyTN II I fell for the not looking past the 'USB 2.0' spec.

Hmmm..... :?:
That's a good question. One way to find out would be to get one of the 10x speed ones from say CompUSA and find out. If it didn't go any faster than a regular one, than take it back and say there was a bunch of errors or something and wanted to get a regluar one insted of the 10x. They normally won't charge their restock fee if you exchange it for something else.
I have noticed one thing with the USB 1.1/2.0 bit on the XDA1. It does transfer data much faster with USB 2.0 and Belkin USB/Power cable than if it were in the cradle!
Not sure what the difference is really...

Anyone technically minded who can answer this....
I am using a HTC Touch Pro mains charger for my X1 (as it has a longer cable) which charges the X1 fully.
I did notice the back of the X1 getting a little warm, so double checked the outputs on the original X1 charger and the TouchPro one.
X1 = 5v 700mA
TouchPro = 5v 1A
Is this likely to be a problem?
was wondering about the same question as well ?

I got a couple of useful replies with this query in another part of this forum.
See:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=450085
.
amps are not pushed into a device
it's the max current a device can draw without
the psu lowering the volts
it would be a mayor design flaw if a chargable device
could draw more current then it could handle and damage
it or start a fire
so dont worry
I have noticed the same problem, I have switched to the original charger.

As long as the conections are the same(mini USB) it should work! I have used my T-Mobile DASH cord with my at&t Tilt before, worked fine! As long as the light says its charging, its fine! Hope that helps you out!
Welcome to XDA!

I also had my TyTN II mains adapter fail (after only a couple of months and about 4 uses). It just made a loud click and would no longer power on so if this is what happened to you, see if you can get a (different) warranty replacement through your supplier. Although the TyTN IIs proprietary extUSB port supports USB 2.0, it's a variety called 'USB 2.0 Full Speed' which (just like USB 1.1 Full Speed) only offers up to 12 Mb/sec and not the 480 Mb/s thats the theoretical maximum for USB 2.0 High Speed. When I plug my TyTN II into the NEC chipset USB 2.0 High Speed capable USB ports on my PC, the 'network' thats created is only a 10 Mb/sec one. Both phones have 5 Volt adapters designed for HTC extUSB ports and the USB 1.1 vs 2.0 differences are not associated with mains charger connections so you should be fine.
Maybe it's stupid, but I was wondering if there is a cable that starts with our mini usb port and ends with the HDMI port so I can connect it to my new TV? Thank you in advance.
Yes, there is such a cable (see This) but it would be useless, since the HD2 does not currently support it (both software and hardware).
You can probably find one on eBay or Amazon
The HD2 would need to support MHA to send HDM over micro-USB whick requires hardware and software. I've got an MHA cable on its way so will check it on the HD2 anyway and update.

No MHL in HD2. The HD2 still fights as a near-perfect device but a lack of any easy video output is indeed a missed feature. No cable in android or WM will work, many of us have tried. As jianC said above, it's both a hardware and software problem.
There are 2 ways I know of to output video from the HD2:
The Kensington Displaylink USB adapter, used with a compatible Linux desktop OS install on our HD2 (Ubuntu or Debian).
The Windows Phone 7.8 USB video out software on PC (check the WP7 forum).
There are likely some networked screen mirroring tools that I'm not familiar with as well.
I keep an eye on the Debian/Ubuntu forums regularly for progress on the USB video out they got working on our HD2. If a DisplayLink USB Linux driver can be written to work on Android we all will be quite fortunate.
Anyone know if any of these adapters work through the dock?
Was thinking of getting this as it does mention Android but that's not very specific or doesn't really mean much

did some googling to see if it was possible, and this one will work. first review said you can use it through settings without an app. The one you posted should work the same way.
Thanks for the reply, that was my thought so I ordered it anyway.

In case anyone was wondering, this just got delivered.
I plugged it into the Dock and right away in the notification it says Ethernet port is detected. I plugged in a cable and it works right away.
Now I can get internet in our crappy other offices.
Very happy especially for $15.

Is this the adapter from Monoprice, or the one from Amazon?
EDIT: Actually, I just noticed that the one on Amazon is 100M rather than 1G ethernet, so I assume you went with Monoprice.

Monoprice
Only $15
You need to stick to something with the AX88772 chipset. The AX88178 might work - mixed danswers around the web on that one. Definately don't get anything with the SMSC LAN7500 chipset either. Stay far away from the AX88179. I bought a StarTech with that chipset and it did not work in any Android device I have.
Finally I bought the one Asus makes one for $19.99 on Amazon - has the AX88772 and works just fine (the Asus connect dock for the TF201/300/700's has that chip in it too so I knew it would work - took mine apart to find out what was in it).
Sleeepy2 - Is that adapter USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 ?
The reason that I asked - on monoprice.com written USB 3.0 and the the color of socket - really blue.
But on ebay from the same seller USB 2.0. From Amazon - BobjGear-Ethernet - USB 2.0
Cadstar - Same things, I bought from Gigabit usb 3.0 - chipset AX88179 - working with Win 7..8 and linux , but not android and Asus tf701
Not really sure, any idea how I can check?
1. The type A connection (the "standard" USB connection that plugs into your computer), should be blue, like: media.bestofmicro.com/USB3-SuperSpeed-external-storage,4-B-252875-13.jpg
2. Speed. You really can feel it if you copy few giga via cable.
Well it is blue and it seems fast. The sticker on it also says USB 3 so I will go with yes it is
Thanks, I intend to buy.
Maybe someone will be useful.
My old Trendnet TU2-ET100 h/w: 3.0 (AX88772 chipset) works great in our device!
Speed Ethernet even slightly higher than over WiFi
