I am using an S730 since December 21st and after playing around I still have some issues unresolved, see if anyone has ideas.
1- How do I download multiple email account at the same time (manually) instead of having to open each account every time want to do this.
2- Bluetooth acts crazy sometimes, it take over my car stereo (Mercedes E-Class) by making the radio believe that it is making a call and mutes music, screen looks as if you were making a call but no call is made.
3- MEMORY, no matter what I do, SKTools or anything, memory does not let me use the camera. Only used it once, all other times it asks me to close programs even when none are open.
4- How do I input DNS, I have Wi-Fi conections that need me to input a DNS in order to pass through internet.
5- Windows Update never works.
Please coment and thanks for taking the time to read this.

3. There may be opened some unwanted processes on the background - close them using advanced task manager (which can handle processes - Celetask for example). Than just close processes like tmail, iexplore, rsshub...
4. Comm Manager -> WLAN Settings -> Connection Status -> IP Address -> Use specific IP address -> ... DNS
5. There are no available updates on Windows Update.
1) what do you mean? You want pocket outlook to not sync email for the mailboxes automatically, but want them to sync manually; but not do this from within pocket outlook? it can't be done without a program, and i've never seen one.
2) looking on the htc e-club, which has updates for the phones, a few other phones had strange bluetooth issues, and were issued updates. i'd say that htc is on the case, but give them a call anyway.
1. jdr1000 doesnt mean syncing mails with Outlook. When you set several email accounts in the messaging application you have to hit Send/Recieve and wait untit this operation is finished and then you can sync your next account. There is no Sync all option (as far I know). (At least there is Automatic Send/Recieve feature)
Thank you all for taking your time to help.
1- moneytoo is "on the money" that is what I want to do, it's like running 5 or 6 or X ammount of connections at the same time. It is one internet connectio after all.
2- I installed the fix for the vox and it happens 10% of the time.
3- Ok, I will look fo this.
4- How can I do this for a specific wi-fi connection and not for all of them, since this only happens when I am at work, all the other time it is ok if everything comes from the APs.
5- Ok. Thks

Everyone in a while i check to see what programs are running and Active Sync is always on! I close it and later on it comes back on. Is there something that can be done to close it and only use it when i connect to pc?? I have the ATT Tilt 8900 incase that matters.
Same here on a TyTn II. I sync with exchange and have peak times set. So in the evening or on sunday the AS still starts when I power up the phone. And also when I close it it starts again...
Goto Start>Settings>Phone then to the "Time Zones" tab and un-check "automatic time zone change and clock".
Active sync will quit it's crazy auto launching madness, plus you won't get the "hey, my clock just jumped ahead for no reason" bug that many have seen.
This also will help:
Do the ActiveSync workaround now and you won't be sorry later. Thank you to the original poster in HowardForums for this workaround -- I did it on my older HTC TyTN and now on my Cingular 8525 as well as Tilt and found it to resolve the weirdness all around:
1. Turn on your 8525/8925
2. Go to Start > Programs > Activesync. This will open the Activesync program.
3. Tap Menu at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. This will bring up the Options Menu. Notice the option Schedule... is greyed out? This is the all-critical option we need to get access to. But as it's disabled we can't change Activesync's default synchronisation schedule.
Ok, so how do we enable the Schedule option? Easy!!! Fool Activesync into thinking there is an Exchange Server to sync with:
1. From Activesync's Menu tap on Add Server Source.
2. In the following screens you can enter any old garbage. It does not matter, but just in case your unsure, just type the following in the indicated boxes:
Server Address: fake
Tap Next
User name: fake
Password: fake
Domain: fake
(Ticking save password or going into the Advanced menu makes no difference, so no need to bother).
Tap Next
Untick all of the 'Data you want to synchronise' options
Tap Finish
3. Ok, we're done creating the server. You should now see in Activesync's main screen your normal Activesync connection(s), and a new connection called Exchange Server.
4. Go back into the Menu, and lo and behold the Schedule option is now enabled! Go ahead and tap it!
5. You will see that both options in the Schedule screen are set to Every 5 Minutes (A01 Rom), or Every 10 Minutes (A06 Rom). This simply will not do! ( * Advanced users - please see my note below * )
6. Using the drop downs, change both the Peak times and Off-peak times boxes to Manually.
7. Press the OK button at the top right of the screen.
Congratulations! Activesync is now gagged from opening on it's own and ruining your life! Your work is not done just yet though - time to clean up and get rid of the now unwanted fake Exchange Server.
1. Go back into Activesync's Menu, then Tap Options.
2. Highlight Exchange Server, then tap Delete. A warning message will appear about removing files etc, but as you have no files associated with the fake Exchange Server, it's nothing to worry about - just tap Ok.
3. The list will now only show your remaining PC Sync connection(s). Obviously do not delete these!
After you sync your 8525/8925 with a PC and have removed it from the dock, you must manually close ActiveSync on your pda or it will remain running and defeat the purpose of the fake exchange server hack (n.b. if you are not using a 3rd party program that will close apps permanently e.g. Magic Button or Wisbar, you will need to go to Start > Settings > System > Memory > Running Programs and Stop it manually). This could be why some people have had no luck with the hack.
I had applied the "fake" server trick but it had no effect on the Kaiser's active sync madness (although I also reccomend that it be done on all phones not using servers), the time zone fix nailed it.
Timezones trick does not work by me. I also have no problem with the clock jumping...
The Exchange trick, well I am using an Exchange server to sync with, so my peak times is set ot as items arrive, and non peak hours to manual... peak times are set only ot weekdays between 08:45 and 19:00 so I am afraid I have to live with the bug. Well it is not that bad since there is a load **** of memory on the kaiser.
How to Ungrey Schedule Permanently
If you want to be able to have the Schedule item ungreyed permanently, and therefore available for use, follow the procedure described by Pruben above, but don't delete the fake server. Now click on Schedule, select the Options tab and deselect all boxes in the Microsoft Exchange section. Press OK and you're done.
I haven't been able to test this out fully because Pruben's solution doesn't work for me, so maybe someone can test this and post results.

This trick worked for me w/my Tilt, ATT rom
Has anyone else noticed that sometimes activesync just starts randomly? it doesnt show on the main screen but when i hit the x button, i see that activesync is there and activesync is a heavy program and i notice a drop in performance whenever it's running.
Anyone know why this is happening?
Not to be too acerbic, but AS starts all the time, syncs when the wind changes direction and decides to not see or sync with a phone it should know well as it pleases...at least in my experience.
same chore here. wouldn't be as bad if AS didn't slow the system as much.
AS starts randomly as long as you have no Exchange Server specified. At least, that was the case in WM5. Just create an Exchange Server in the AS settings (just use a fake server) and set the sync schedule to manual. You can even delete te fake server you made, in WM5 the schedule was saved and AS would not start randomly anymore. Try it and see if it works.

i didnt find any 'exchange server' in the AS settings
Go To Start>Settings>Phone> Time Zone Tab and un-check the auto time/time zone seting box. This will stop the active sync madness. The "fake" server tweak is also a good idea, but the time zone issue is a Kaiser bug.
Anyone know why the hotmail push seems to be spotty to my phone. I will get 2 or 3 in a row, then either go 7-8 messages without receiving them, then all the sudden get them again.. or have to do a reset to get them it seems.
AT&T Tilt with windows live cab installed.
Tried several different versions of the cab, also still have that weird notification bug where it just keeps vibrating til i finally accept that I have a message sometimes.
Anyone ever come up with a fix for any of these?
No permanent solution to this issue has been found yet, however it most likely relates to the issue with the Kaiser not waking up to check email or play reminders.
I would recommend you follow the below thread for updates and try some of the suggested fixes.

I have not been able to get the Live push email working consistently on the Kaiser/Tilt at all. It worked no problem on my Hermes/8525.
Conversation with Windows Live Mobile Tech support
So I am getting really frustrated with my Windows Live Mail not working corretly on my Tilt and I decided to contact MS Tech support to see if there was anything they could recommend.
Below is the convo that I had back and forth with the Support Rep.
Windows Live Push email does not work on my HTC Kaiser Tytn II device.
In order for my Live Hotmail email to sync I have to manually initiate a sync, even though my settings are configured to deliver emails As items arrive. I have tried changing these settings around several times, but it does not make a difference.
Furthermore I receive multiple sync errors often, and most of the times when I delete an email on my device it fails to delete off the server.
I did not have these problems using Windows Live with my HTC Hermes Tytn running Windows Mobile 6.
I have also tried signing out of the Windows Live app and then signing in. I have Hard Reset my device (back to manufacturer default) and still experience the problems. I have also tried with NO 3rd party programs installed and still the push email does not sync correctly.
I have also tried different versions of the Windows Live app that are floating around the internet, such as 10.6.32.2100 and 10.6.33.600. Neither of these newer builds fixed my problem.
Is there a way to fix the issues I am having with Windows Live App push email functionality on the HTC Kaiser Tytn II?
RESPONSE 1
Thank you for contacting Windows Live Mobile Technical Support. My name is Teddy and I understand that you have issues synching your Live Hotmail on your HTC Kaiser Tytn II device. I apologize for the inconvenience. I appreciate the time you have taken to advise us of your experiences and I hope to offer as much assistance as possible.>
We have received reports from other customers experiencing similar contacts synchronization issues. Based on our investigation, this issue occurs when the Windows Live application in the device is having trouble synchronizing with the Messenger servers.
They were able to resolve this issue by doing the steps below:
A. Changing your saved Windows Live Messenger display picture.
Errors appear during synchronization when the server is experiencing difficulty fetching your saved Messenger display picture. To avoid this from happening, let's try to change your display picture to a default picture. To do this:
1. Sign in to Windows Live Messenger using a computer.
2. Change your display picture to a default picture.
3. Try to sign again on your mobile device.
B. Re-synchronize your account.
You may also need to reset your Windows Live account on your Windows Mobile-powered device by signing out and signing in again. To sign out, please refer to the instructions below:
1. On your mobile device, tap "Start" and then select "Windows Live."
2. Tap "Menu" and then "Account Options."
3. Tap "Switch account."
4. You will be prompted to confirm account switching as this action will sign you out of Windows Live, preventing you from seeing your e-mail inbox. Tap "Yes" to continue.
5. You shall be redirected to the Terms of Use screen, an indication that you are already signed out of Windows Live.
To sign back in:
1. Tap "Start" and then select "Windows Live."
3. Tap "Sign in to Windows Live."
4. Tap "Accept" on the Windows Live Terms of Use screen.
5. Enter your MSN or Hotmail e-mail address and its corresponding password.
6. Tap "Next."
7. Choose if you wish to have the Live Search bar or Windows Live services on your device's "Today" screen and tap "Next."
8. Choose of you wish to sync either Contacts and Messenger contact or e-mail (or both) with your mobile device then tap "Next" to continue.
9. Wait as your mobile device syncs with your Windows Live account. Tap "Done" when sync is complete.
10. Open Windows Live Messenger and check if your online contacts now appear as online.
The steps above should help you fix this problem. If the issue persists, we want to continue assisting you until this is resolved.

Trying both A and B above fixed the issue... until I did a soft reset. Then the same problems returned. So I emailed again and got the below response.
I performed the steps listed in A and B of your email (Changed Display Picture and Switch Accounts). I changed my messenger display picture to No Display Picture and signed out of Windows Live on my Tytn II and then soft reset the phone. After the phone rebooted I signed back into Windows Live.
At first this did seem to fix the problem. All of my emails started coming through (at Push speeds) and I did not encounter any sync errors. However, after I performed a soft reset on the phone, all of my problems started again. Windows Live would show sync status stuck on "Checking Internet Connectivity" even though I have network coverage and can browse the web via PIE. I would have to manually click on the sync button to get syncing started. Emails stopped coming through as push (even though I have delivery set to "As items arrive") and I started receiving sync errors again.
Below are the answers to the questions you asked.
- HTC Tytn II
- Windows Mobile 6
- Carrier: At&t Location: I am in the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas area - zip 76262
- *****@hotmail.com
- yes it happens on any Windows Live account
- currently the version of Windows Live on my device is 10.6.33.600, although I have tried the original build (can't remember #) that came on my device along with build 10.6.32.2100. All versions have had the same problem on my device.
I appreciate your help and look forward to hearing a solution to this issue. I pay the $19.99/year fee for premium Hotmail/Live mail features and use this email as my primary email and contact manager. I really need this program to work on my device.

So at least MS is aware of the problem and hopefully a newer build of WL will leak onto these boards soon that includes a fix.
ive been haveing the same sync failure problems when i try to sync my email through windows live. ive found a temporary fix by logging into messenger first then doing a send recieve with windows live mail. it then syncs my email folders correctly. so Ive discovered it will only sync when messenger is showing logged in.
BTW I'm a Beta Tester for windows live messenger and the last build was in july, there hasnt been one since. I will give more feedback on the beta feedback this evening
hey, got two questions regarding the outlook and the IE
1) is it possible to make outlook disconnect the data connection after sending / receiving mail automatically? Reason: every trafic below 20 kb at a time is free at my provider. so if outlook checks mail and uses less then 20 kb and disconnects, its free all the time!
2) at college we have wifi. however, you have to confirm some kind of pop up window after entering your username / password. i can enter name and PW but it seems the IE doesnt support the pop up or the protocoll or whatever. i can chek mails with outlook, etc but i cant surf with the explorer. it just stays at the site where i have to enter name and PW. on the computer it is no problem....
3) is there anyway to set a mp3 song as a reminder?! i want to use it in the morning to wake up, but the stupid notifier sounds get on my nerves! or do i need extra app?
4) is there any application which allows me to controll utorrent or similar on my computer with the phone? meaning to find and add new torrents to my computer with the phone when i am not home?
You can set the max amount you want to download per message (you can actually limit it to headers only if you want.
Kaiser Tweak (search here on the forum) will allow you to disconnect after checking - great battery saving device .
You can put mp3's on your phone and use them for alarms - again search is your friend.
The other questions will have to be answered by smarter people.
Bill
thx, the disconnect works.
i know that i can set mp3s as ring tones. however, when i go to clock & alarm i cannot chose the mp3 i added to ringtone folder, only standard alarms (which suck!) what can i do?
good luck with the torrent downloading since there's only 1 program thats floating around and i never could get it to connect
well the torrent program i found i only for the actual windows mobile device. you download right to the phone. i need something to control my computer
another strange thing with outlook: i use googlemail. but when i hit send / receive, my outlook receives new email from my sent folder. so i send an email via phone and the next time i receive axectly the same message. whats up with that?
I am frequently getting this message when using Outlook. I have 2 Outlook accounts and I do get notification of a message but when I tap on the notification, Outlook does open but there is no new message and if I refresh by dragging the screen down the 'No Internet Connection' message pops up. Also sometimes messages that I have deleted or moved to another folder still appear in the inbox.
I just ignore it and a few minutes later the issue goes away - but that isn't much good when I know I have received an email and then can't see it
This is all with WiFi off and a strong 4G signal - I have had the issues while connected to WiFi as well
Any ideas?
Is UK 3 on your profile your current carrier? Also what ROM/version are you using?
Microsoft's Outlook app has been doing that to me off and on for a couple yrs now, it seems Microsoft applied a server side change that doesn't always work (ironically about the same time Win10 was released). At my work we've been telling people to use the built-in Email app whenever possible because it seems to accept server side changes better.
But one of the workarounds I've found is go into settings -> apps -> outlook -> force close - > clear cache -> reboot phone and that usually fixes it for a day or two for me.
Thanks, that is interesting. I do tend to suffer from a bit of tunnel vision - never thought of using a different email client!
Yes, I am still with UK 3. I did have OOS 4.0.1 and now have 4.0.2 and they both have this issue.
