Does someone have a guide for connecting via BT and activesync?
I can't for the life of me get my PC to recognize my tilt it just doesn't find the device in order to create an outbound connection, any help here?
TW,
Delete all existing pairings and sync partnerships then follow the Bluetooth activesync help procedure in Activesync. It will set up your bt com ports etc in the right order for you to connect.
Still having some problems...
The device is found in the BT Devices and I was able to add an incoming port com4 but it doesn't find anything to add an outgoing port? shouldn't it have an outgoing port, it just doesn't find the device.
In activesync when I set the port to com4 and try connecting I get nothing even though in the end it shows the port com4 is available.
Any ideas?
i assume you are using XP? and have the latest bt drivers on your pc. From there delete the parings, and then pair from the pc, when you set it up at that point there should be a checkbox for the activesync service on your kaiser (much like it has for earphones). If not make sure that your activesync connection settings have "Allow Connections to the following" and then choose whatever port (i normally do port 4)
yes, Windows XP SP2.
The device gets paired with the desktop, I added a com port this time com5 as "incoming". I then opened ActiveStink and change the "allow connections to one of the following" to com5 and hit "Connect..." and no joy...
I finally get a message that my "device was not detected" and it shows the com5 port available.
TW,
[EDIT]
It was user error, I was trying to initiate the connection from my PC and not my phone... thanks for the help.
no worries. Glad if i was any help
Folks, when I attach my Kaiser (MDA Vario III) to my laptop using Bluetooth, I can sync without a hitch... However, when I caonnect it via USB, I get the following: [see screenshot attached]
Any ideas? I can't fins any info on t'web?
Right... Had my Tytn (SPV M3100) replaced by Orange. This now does the EXACT same thing. Vista SP1, methinks...
Make sure you have the latest Windows Mobile Device Center installed and while your kaiser is plugged in run windows update and see if there are any driver updates available.
Try killing mobsync.exe in task manager (on the desktop pc). Then restart WMDC.
or plug in the usb, then open windows update and check for updates, it will detect it hasnt got the relivent drivers and downloadn them for you. normall its supposed to do it automatically if it doesnt find the drivers but for some reason it didnt work
Thanks sofar...
But I've tried all of the above.... To death. It works fine with my Athena & my Tytn, not with the Kaiser though...
I've been having the same problem. Thought it was one of the roms I had cooked initially but then I tried a few more roms (Duttys was one) and I still couldnt sync. Either on WMDC in Vista or ActiveSync on XP.
Now I think the USB is damaged - although it still charges fine. Bluetooth sync is fine too.
Now, i don't sync my device at work on my vista machine, but i can still connect to it.
None the less, I was looking at my windows update history and when i first installed the mobile center or whatever, i downloaded an update that is listed as failing to install in y windows update history.. so.. id ont know why it fails.. but yeah..
Had the same problem, but seems to be OK now.
I followed the help file in the Mobile device center -troubleshooting a cable connection. I post it her for reference. Don't know exactly what solved the issue (I hope permanently) but possibly the firewall ports?:
-----------------------
Check the device for relevant system messages and address any conditions affecting the connection.
Ensure that the device and the PC both have USB connections enabled:
In Control Panel set to Classic View, open Windows Mobile Device Center. Select the Allow USB connections check box.
In ActiveSync on your device, click Menu > Connections, then select the Synchronize all PCs using this connection check box.
Disconnect and reconnect the device.
Disconnect, restart, and reconnect the device.
Disconnect the device, restart the PC, then reconnect the device.
Do the following:
Disconnect the device.
Open the following ports for all programs in the PC firewall:
990: open inbound TCP port
999: open inbound TCP port
5678: open inbound TCP port
5679: open outbound UDP port
5721: open inbound TCP port
26675: open inbound TCP port
Reconnect the device.
Do the following:
Disconnect the device.
Disable the antivirus program.
Reconnect the device.
Do the following:
Disconnect the device.
Open Network Connections in Control Panel on the PC.
Right-click the local area connection created by Windows Mobile Device Center, then click Properties.
In This connection uses the following items, select every check box (to select all protocols).
Reconnect the device
fixed for me
I was having this problem. I'd also noticed that windows update was having problems installing a related update 'windows mobile remote adapter'.
Followed the advice in the help file re opening ports in the firewall. (FYI when adding a port just type the port number in the name field and in the port field).
It still wasn't working but when I did windows update after opening the ports it worked and is now connected.
Hope this helps

Try this, it worked for me.
Go to start<<settings<<connections tab. Then select the USB to PC icon. Uncheck enable advanced network functionality. Restart PPC and then try to re-sync.
I don't even know what enable advanced network functionality does. When unchecked, I see "connecting to host" everytime I cradle my Tilt. AND I never have sync problems, nor do I get the error message alluding to changes on the server and all changes will be lost.
I Installed WM6_RemoteDesktop.cab on my Tilt and on the connect screen entered ip address (68.50.15x.xxx) for computer and user name and password of my PC account and left domain blank. It comes back with error message.
Coannot Connect. Likely Reasons
1. The remote computer is not set up for this
2. Reached maximum connections
3. A network error occurred while connectin
I have set up a user account on my PC with password and access to remote services.
Number 2. cannot be true as there are no connections right now.
What am I doing wrong, Do I need to tweak anything to make this works.
Please help.. Thanks in advance.
Make sure you have the port open. I don't remember the number because I've changed my default port but I'm sure you can google it.
Port Number is 3389. How do I open this? I am directly connected to the cable modem. Thanks
You should try to connect to your pc using another pc first before focusing on connection on the PDA. Maybe some firewall software on your PC is just blocking incomming connections on port 3389? HTH
I used MS port queri to query the port. It looks like something is blocking the port. I dont know what. I tried the connection after disabling mcaffee firewall. still no luck.
Port queri returned with this
Querying target system called:
sk-machine
Attempting to resolve name to IP address...
Name resolved to 68.50.1xx.xxx
querying...
TCP port 3389 (unknown service): FILTERED
portqry.exe -n sk-machine -e 3389 -p TCP exits with return code 0x00000002.

"FILTERED" means, that the connection attempt was actually rejected by the PC. Meaning: there is an a firewall which is filtering the port. Maybe you have the windows firewall still enabled?

Try installing Hamachi both on your pc & kaiser, then you'll be able to connect securely from it with a fixed ip, no need to open ports

You probably just have the Windows Default Firewall enabled. Which version of Windows are you running?
Windows XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/security/internet/sp2_wfexceptions.mspx
Vista
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/4da18300-9044-47b6-9038-595c78db81ab1033.mspx
If that still doesn't fix your problem then look at your internet security/virus scanner
My Windows XP sp2 Firewall is turned off and also to be on the safer side, I have checked remote access under "exceptions".
I turned off my Antivirus (Mcaffee) firewall and tried ms port queri again and it still shows as filtered. I dont have any routers, PC is connected directly to the cable modem. Do you think ISPs block port 3389? ISP is comcast, rockville MD
I have made sure that Terminal services is running and Port 3389 is listening (netstat -a)
There are so many articles about identifying blocked/in active port 3389 port on the net but none actually says how to fix it.
That would suck if they block it. Try this out. Oh and I don't think just disabling the virus scanner will solve your problem if that is what is causing it.
http://www.auditmypc.com/firewall-test.asp
Maybe that will show you something you don't know already. (like if all your ports are closed, which would mean there is an active firewall somewhere) Also I would suggest that if you can't get it working any time soon, try to get a router and another computer hooked into yours. This way you can have a network and comcast out of the equation. Try remote desktop from the other computer. Also
Are you using XP pro or home?
Thanks Chumley, I am at work now so will run the firewall audit later on. I have xp media center (which would be home I think).
I tried to telenet to port 3389 to my Home Ip, connection errored out. So port 3389, even though shows as listening, still being blocked by something other than AV firewall or windows firewall.
media center is based off of pro, which is good because then remote desk is actually a feature. HEHE.
hmm, when I do
telnet ip 3389
it's goes to a totally black screen. Never tried that before. I think you can do the port test from work.
Cannot do the firewall test from work as it bases its test on work ip.
for telent test you can type telnet in Start->run
then
o [ip] 3389
I get connect failed.
Kudos to the developers and owners of this site!!!
Now has anyone experienced the following problem when syncing TyTnII
When I connect my TyTnII to my laptop which is connected to a wireless gateway my gateway has a hissy fit and locks up. I have to restart the gateway with the TyTnII disconnected from the laptop.
It gets annoying when trying to install directly onto TyTnII and I cant.!?!?!?
Any help would be appreciated....
Am I getting this right?
- Your laptop is wirelessly connected to a gateway
- Your Kaiser gets connected to your PC (bluetooth, USB,?)
=> Your gateway crashes...
I don't see any relation between both actions (though there apparently is one). Could you post some more info? Is there anything special about your network configuration?
I wonder if it's not the gateway that is crashing, but your laptop is the one crashing. I've noticed on mine that during the initial connection phase where my desktop is recognizing the phone, my internet connection will be interrupted. IE will hang searching for a page. If I unplug the phone the page will pull up instantly. If I plug the phone up and wait for the connection process to finish, all is good.
Hi,
I'm having difficulties working with my windows mobile device via my home PC (work laptop is fine). I am able to sync with my phone fine through activesync to transfer contacts etc but I am unable to browse the device contents from my PC via activesync or via windows explorer.
The device does not show up in explorer and when I try to click "Explore" from the activesync interface nothing happens.
One odd thing which I think may be related is that whenever I plug in my phone over USB my PC things it is an internet gateway and it appears in my PC's network connections as "xd". Looking at the properties for this connection there is a single service listed:
MsNMsgr (192.168.0.2:10020) 36583 UDP
Host PC - Windows XP64 Professional
ActiveSync 4.5.0 build 5096
Device - HTC Kaiser
Hyperdragon3 ROM
Any help with this would be very much appreciated
Cheers
