Launching Extreme Text SMS App from HTC Home - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Is anyone using Extreme Text for its SMS threading application?
I installed it on my Tilt which also has the HTC Home plugin. I am wondering how to change the HTC Home plugin messaging shortcut to launch Extreme text rather than launching the built-in messasing app. I could not find this option on Kaiser Tweaks and don't want to start messing with the registry settings without guidance.
I have also tried using HTC Home customizer, but it does not have this option available.
Thanks,
D

Anyone out there with some clues/suggestions?

It's a bit more complicated than registry tweaks. How do you feel about hexediting?

Not comfortable as I would hate to brick my phone. What does it entail?

Whats the name of the HTC Photo Speed Dial App?

I want to add a shortcut to Pocket Plus, does anyone know the name of the HTC Photo Speed Dial app? Yes, i searched, but couldn't find anything.
I don't think HTC has a separate Photo Speed Dial app--I think it is just integrated into the HTC Home or the HTC Touch's Touch Cube interface. I know Palm has a Speed Dial app.
SPB Phone Suite has a "Photo Speed Dial" addon and its available on the today screen as does Mobile Shell (uses similar to HTC Home).

HTC Home open blank sms?

I was wondering if someone could help out here. I finally put HTC home on my Tilt and love it, but... I do a lot of SMS messaging, and I cant seem to find a shortcut/optioon from the home screen straight to composing a new SMS like there is in the At&T HTC plugin. Its a pain in the ass to have to go to messaging, then select new, sms.
Thanks...
there are apps that enable this kind of things.
i would recommend "HTC action screen". it has lots of "new" options (sms, task, appointment,...). you can find cab for this here on forums. after you install this you should assign this app to some hardware button for quick and easy access.
Thanks man. I was kinda hoping to find a way to map it to the PTT button or one of the HTC home tabs...I really didnt want to run an app just to do that but I will give it a look.
Thanks again!
There are plenty of programs that let you change soft key settings, search around. Also a bunch of threads that explain how to set up a shortcut to the new SMS screen, which you can then set to a soft key.
HTC Action Screen is just simple app which pops up dialog with "new" options. if you don't select anything it will auto close in few seconds.
another thing is that if you send messages to people in your contact list, it is much easier to use some contact manager to do that than "new sms" option. i use Finger Friendly Friends, but this is not free. with FFF i'm able to find desired contact and make some action (send mail, sms, mms, call home, mobile...) in few seconds without using stylus.
but if you really need only "new sms" option, kmorris89 is right, just remap one of softkeys to do that. you will find info on softkey remaping here on xda.

Help to Remap ''SMS'' link on HTC HOME.

Hello all,
I have checked high and low for a solution to remap the sms link on htc home so that when it is selected it does not take me to the default windows threaded sms, but to VTIO SMS CHAT. I prefer the vito version and its very annoying that other programs do not link to vito automatically such as phone alarm etc...I am not looking to remap the hardkeys, i already have a program for that.
Any suggestions are appreciated. thx

Integrate Vito SMS-Chat with HTC Home?

Hi
I already searched through the forums and also through the WM registry but I can't find a way of changing the the messaging shortcut that appears on htc home above the tabs. Is this a hard coded setting? I receive my sms through vito sms but the fact that I can't open it directly from HTC (besides app launcher) bugs me a little.
Any help appreciated
Tony
Find a Soft Key Manager app and link SMS-Chat to it. It's the only way around it I've ever used. At least there will be a button on your home screen at all times.

ROM FULLY without HTC messaging

Lo all, I know you'll probably say 'use the search function' but I have and can;t find and full answer.
Question:
Is there a way to fully disable HTC messaging and not just so you can press the all messages buttonand see windows messaging program.
So if you are on Sense Messaging tab and you recieve a message from someone, you can click on it and it will take you to WM threaded messages for that person?
Hope someone can clear this up, I'm so confused with what these 'disable HTC messaging' actually do and how much they actually disable.

I advise you XannyTech roms without HTCMessaging
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=565290
But these still have HTC messaging when you click on the SMS. I have been using Xanny's ROMS.
The only WM messaging they have is when you click on 'all messages' button.

He says he have 4 Versions:
With HTC Messaging
Without HTC Messaging
With HTC MESSAGING + MSVC
Without HTC Messaging + MSVC
I suggest to check or learn before you write things which are not true.
Without HTC Messaging means, that default SMS program is not HTC Messaging. However this program is called by other Manila's features. For example contacts from Call History. Once run, you can have possibility to switch into SMS of the person etc etc.
Note, that WM has build in call history, contact list etc - those features are still not replaced making HTC messaging stil alive.
HOwever, versions 'without HTC messaging' has the same functionality as stand alone mod: replaces all HTC Messaging shortcuts found in system by Mobile Outlook. And yes, it calls MO while hitting SMS from Manila SMS tab.
Well I'm using a without ROM and have on several occasions, they do not call the WM threaded sms from Sense SMS Tab when you click on a message. They still call HTC messaging.
Only when you click on 'All messages' does it launch outlook.
I would like to know if there is a way to call WM Threaded SMS program from HTC SMS Tab when you click on a persons sms.

PS who were you talking to when you said: 'I suggest to check or learn before you write things which are not true.'
I agree

I also have tried to find a solution that disables more of the HTC UI but no luck. I would also like to disable their contact manager!

1) Uninstall any messaging related cabs (including the Zenyee or Static cabs)
2) Disable Sense
3) Use Total Commander to Delete the "ManilaFull.xml" in the "\Windows" folder
4) Install the attached cab that corresponds to your device (GSM or CDMA)
5) Soft Reset
6) Go to "HKLM\System\Inbox\ExternalAccounts"
Rename "SMS" to "SMS.htc"
7) Soft Reset
8) Install Arcsoft MMS software (go here if you need it)
9) Soft Reset
10) Enable Sense
Please let me know how it works for you guys!
I'd like to give credit to fone_fanatic, dagrim1, and xwpx520 for finding this information
with thinkblu method, there is one and only bug only, it didn't show bubbles showing how many unread message.
Tha main process there seems to be the :
6) Go to "HKLM\System\Inbox\ExternalAccounts"
Rename "SMS" to "SMS.htc"
Click to collapse
However I don;t have this registry setting which is why this doesn;t work for me.
