I cant find a copy of MobiTV, the ATT version of Cellular video or the ATT Xm radio app. Now I have searched an come up with only things that have not worked on my machine. They are older apps, from 8525 and Cingular.
I made a thread about this in upgrades but some smarmy mod popped out links and basically called me a moron for not searching. Well guess what none of that **** you linked me to worked. All of it was very old as well.
Im hoping someone will be able to pull the .cab installs of of the actual NEW ATT Tilt rom. I was able to find the newest xpress mail on my own. I also found the 8925 NEW version of Telenav.
guess im not as dumb as those mods think, since my .cabs are up to date ABD THEY WORK on your new device.
btw the new search is HORRIBLE i cant just search the Kaiser area when i want.
the search tab
+1 for the new search tab not being easy to use.
Don't know if this will help..I had to put the files from the OperatorPKG into a ZIP file...
It contains.
MobiTV Application
MobiTV shortcut
MobiTV chunk file - whatever this is???
Hope this helps
You do not need the cellular video cab...it only has the URL of cingularvideo.cingular.com and a realplayer install in it... DO you have streaming media or realplayer installed on your phone???
To get CellularVideo to work properly...
1st.... open IE and go to cingularvideo.cingular.com
2nd... Try and click on the link....
(a) if link opens up in either realplayer or streaming media your done
(b) if link opens up realplayer or streaming media but it will not connect
you need to do the following....
(i) use a file explorer on your phone that will show hidden files
(ii) open up realplayer from the .exe file in the file explorer. It
should open up just the player.
(iii) when the player opens, you need to click on options and make
sure the connect option is going through MEdiaNet
(iiii) after doing this, save and close the realplayer.
(iiiii) go back to cingluarvideo.cingular.com and try again it
will work.
3rd.... If you have not already, make sure you restoreProxy
4th... If the above directions do not work I have attached the CellularVideo
cab file which was found by searching google.
thanks guys
this new ****ing garbage search wont even let you decide if u wanna search by date or by relevance...choose a forum
y would they do something so much worse?
I'll bite since you obviously made an effort. Otherwise you would have gotton a generic response to go to the ATT forums. ;-) (Kind of a revote against newbs lately.)
The cabs are hard to find. The download I put here is NOT the cabs. They're just ripped from the ROM.
Drop the files in your Program Files directory and delete the vars.chunk files to restore the trial period.
the first mobitv installl in this thread didnt work for me.... thanks for this one... i still need cellular tv, that custel file wont work with mobile 6.1 on the 8925

The cabs are hard to find. I just ripped the stuff from \program files. It's all you need really. This is from the Windows 6.1 ATT ROM, so I know they aren't old.
NOTE: delete the vars.chunk file for these otherwise the trial will be expired when you try to launch.

your stuff ACTUALLY WORKED! very cool
The site admin is working dilligently to offer as many useful search options as humanly possible.
Ironically when the original search was the only choice everyone complained that it was crap, now with it replaced by google al o the sudden it was "the bee's knees".
Shortly Admin should have both Google & vBulletin (original) in the search dropdown. Eventually they might even be able to add functionality to the google option but give them time guys. It's not like you flip a switch and get a 3rd party search integrated exactly as you want.

yes you are as dumb as the mods think. you just had to start another thread on this. if you had actually read through the link i gave you, you would have known that ppl are using it on the kaiser eventhough it is from the hermes forum. as for being an older version, the mobitv is newer than the one thats being shipped on the new at&t rom, i know, because i actually checked.

You can always ask a friend or co-worker for their account info. Also, if you know someone who has an XM Radio, but doesn't have/use the online account, you can get or ask them for their radio ID and sign up for the account online yourself.
XM Radio accounts can be used by multiple people/computers at one time, whereas Sirius accounts cannot.

ok, first of all if i get flamed or banned for this your a biatch, second of all i downloaded the streaming.CAB for my tilt yesterday, but when I want to connect it goes to a address input bar that starts with a rtsp://....
The question is do you have to subscribe to a media stream for this to work

Awesome. I have been waiting for this for some time now. It would be nice for everyone if there was mirror link posted. Also if the mods could move this to the correct section it would be great too, such as the software section.

SideShow is a feature of Windows Vista and it has not been, and probably will never be, ported to older Windows versions due to underlying differences in the operating systems, driver models etc.
Such a shame this is only bluetooth, other sideshow devices utlise wifi.
Still cool to finally get it though.

It's still in its very early stages, so it may eventually get there and offer wifi support (Salling Clicker does it so MS definitely should be able to get it running).
I couldn't get it to work on my pavillion laptop (dv9700t)...it keeps saying 'can't connect' from the software. Yet, I can see it briefly connect then disconnect on my laptop. Oh well, back to salling clicker....

This is a really neat idea in theory. I just found out about this the other day when Woot had a picture frame for sale that supported SideShow.
I found it much more useful for a device like a dumb terminal picture frame. It could allow you not to just show pictures, but overlay the weather, RSS feeds, e-mail notifications, and even stream music to the frame.
Although I like that it is being supported for WM devices, I don't really see too many advantages of the current widgets/gadgets/whatever that are out there.
A WM phone is already a powerful device that has outlook, media player, office mobile (including power point) that having to stream these as a sideshow to the device seems redundant. I'm sure some plugins will come around that are very innovative, but I don't really see the use other than novelty right now.
The advantage I see would be for developers to write just a sideshow app that can run on many platforms and not just tied to vista.
For instance a sideshow app for Windows Media Center that would allow you to turn your phone into a powerful remote for WMC.
I don't know if 2008 supports sideshow yet, but if they add it in I could see a HUGE benefit of having a server monitoring sideshow that I could connect to remotely. I could keep track of servers remotely and perform some common tasks via the sideshow.
These are the types of things I'd like to see eventually.
This was posted in the general thread, but I see this one is more active so I will post my comments here as well.

I am giving this a shot on my Tilt with the L26 diamond v5 rom. I paired my phone with my Vista business pc and connected right away. Some of the other gadgets you can install are pointless. Gmail viewer? LOL. All you can do is view the mail... so you have to walk back over to the pc and check it anyway. The media player gadget is the best... I could actually see me using this for a party or social gathering where I can control all the tunes from my phone. I COULD NOT get the picture viewer to work!!! When I downloaded the .msi file I got the error "This application is not a valid install fie" or something of that nature.
Any ideas on that one?
i still can't get the bloody thing to work.
in my experiance of it you need to be using microsoft bluetooth stack/drivers, widcom broadcom, toshiba or blueseil dont work, which is a pain because windows bluetooth drivers are very limited as to what else they do, if anybody gets this working with bluesoeil drivers let me know
Gotta love it. Hulu on my Fuze, I don't think I'll ever get anything done. , it doesn't seem like the actual page resolution that skyfire downloads has changed though which sucks. but the menus etc. now completely function in both landscape and portrait.
Cheers,
Migsims
** EDIT ** Some people running the stock rom seem to be having issues installing this. I currently have - PROven ROM 1.03 20757 HD build - flashed on my Fuze and Skyfire is working great installed on my storage card. I'm not sure what the issue is.

Version 0.85 of the Skyfire mobile browser is now available.
To get the latest version of Skyfire, point your phone's standard browser to http://get.skyfire.com and download the newest client. The site will detect the device and provide the appropriate installer.
Please note: if you are a current Symbian user you must uninstall the existing client on your phone first.
Release notes follow.
Skyfire 0.8.5 Release Notes
Released: November 21, 2008
Skyfire brings the PC internet experience to your mobile. Watch videos on YouTube or Hulu, connect with your friends on Myspace or Facebook, shop on Amazon, or listen to music. If you can experience it on your computer, you now can do it with Skyfire on the go.
Skyfire is fast, easy to use and available for free for many smart phone models.
Skyfire 0.8.5 Beta adds (standard) VGA support for Windows Mobile devices and brings the feature set for our Symbian client in line with Windows Mobile. Skyfire will continue to maintain both platforms in future releases.
We greatly appreciate your participation in our beta community. Your support and feedback on the forums at http://support.skyfire.com/forums/ helps us to constantly improve the product.
What’s new in 0.8.5 for both Windows Mobile and Symbian:
* Simple Download: This is big for us and we hope for you as well. Now, there is NO requirement anymore to register in order to download, access, and use Skyfire. With this release, downloading is as simple as pointing your existing mobile browser to http://get.skyfire.com. We detect the device and provide the installer for your phone.
* Optional Registration: Once downloaded and installed, you can use Skyfire right away. Browse away, create bookmarks, and check your history. Everything will work.
Why create an account? So you can retain Bookmarks and History in case you lose your phone or have to switch phones. Furthermore you can post and participate in the Skyfire user forums.
Already have an account? You can still access your existing account by simply logging in on your device. Or, create a new account. Or, migrate your account between phones. It’s now all done from your phone on the Skyfire start page.
* New UK Data Center: We are looking forward to providing better service for our UK based users and are currently building out a new data center. If you are in the UK you should automatically connect to the new data center and experience better performance. If you are not based in UK, then you will automatically connect to the US data center. Please bear with us as we work out some of the kinks – especially with account migration.
* Overall Improvements: Client and Server robustness, streaming performance, recovering from lost connections.
* Improved rendering of mobile pages: We better detect and render more mobile pages. The list continues to expand.
* Updated Skyfire User Portal: We continue to evolve our user portal and start page. Although some of it was already visible before 0.8.5, it is worth mentioning:
o Google Search & Search Results: It’s the best and the most used.
o Updated weather widget: Now supports Canada and UK postal codes, in addition to US.
o Region specific start page: Custom feeds and pre-populated bookmarks for US and UK.
What’s new in Windows Mobile 0.8.5 since Windows Mobile 0.8?
* Standard VGA support: We are excited to now provide VGA support for the number of new devices that recently entered the market, including the HTC Touch Diamond, Diamond Pro, HTC/ATT Fuze. Please note that we support Standard VGA support (e.g. 640x480). Widescreen WVGA (e.g. 800x480 etc) is NOT supported yet.

Didn't work for me ...
I dowloaded the cab from the 'get' link and when I tried to install it I got an error stating that "...The installation file is not intended for this device."
I used Skyfire on Tilt all the time so I was hoping it wouldn't be a problem on the Fuze. Must be doing something wrong ... ?

It's working fine on my Fuze, dunno what's up there. What version did you download?
It worked for me too. When I went to that website it said my device was a TouchDual, but it still worked and landscape works fine with our keyboard too.
I too got the same error. The link automatically sets version 7.9x. Maybe they will get it worked out. Also the user control has been moved to the mobile browser. And since some of use have moved on to the fuze we can't access the control panel to say change device.

The link defaulted to "Skyfire_7927-PPC50". There was no option to choose anything else. I not only tried the link from my phone but also got the same file when using the laptop.
I'll keep watching to see what might be the problem.

Did that and got same results, meaning "Unsuccessful" message.
*EDIT: Worked this time. Must have been me on the transfer from laptop. Got it working now, so thank you for the recommendation to try again.
copy it to my device, installed and had to soft reset to get it working. But it works very well. Now I have 3 browsers to choose from What is the down side to SkyFire?? Seems to do everything.
On the ATT Fuze I went to the site, it said I have an HTC phone so I click to download it didn't work. But if I selected This is not my phone, then went to WinMo 5 or 6 Touch it worked flawlessly :-D
i did the above and it worked, problem is the browser looks blurry... like a scaled up version of the qvga version... when it loads a page and th site takes up the screen you cant read any of te small text... opera is nice and crisp and clear...
ill try the other installation way when i get to my home computer to see what works there. I looked around in the settings but nothing is there as far as adjusting resolution or anything.
shade
i think all they did was make the menus and stuff vga for now and hopefully soon they will actually make the whole thing fully vga
hmm, that could be it... the address bar and stuff are all crisp and vga-ish...
can some more people who have this running give more feedback on this...
oh, and is there tabbed browsing on this browser at all? I cant seem to find it. for a browser that claims to do EVERYTHING, thats the one thing I am really looking for!

Its is def not as sharp as the Opera browser. I also noticed its alot slower now then in the locked betas :-( I guess because the server load is growing but I used to watch streaming video all the time.
yeah the problem is that any flash is streamed and compressed on their servers ala opera mobile.
It would be really nice if adobe finally got off their ass and made an updated full plugin on not this flash lite crap.
Well if definitely does not look as nice as Opera....and is there a way to make this work with TouchFlo3D?
Yeah, I had to download it, transfer it to my storage card then install it without issues.
I still get the half screen issues that I had with previous versions.
Hi,
As a lot of people (including myself) have asked about this, I thought I would share this with you as I have finally got it working. This method allows you to watch BBC TV shows, live broadcasts and listen to live BBC radio WITHOUT using Skyfire. All you need to do is spoof websites into thinking your using an HTC Touch HD (Blackstone) by doing the following:
1) Connect your phone via ActiveSync
2) Copy the following file onto your PC:
C:\Windows\Opera9\opera.ini
3) Open the file with Notepad (or any text editor) and look for the following line:
Custom User-Agent=HTC_P3700 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en-GB)
Replace it with this:
Custom User-Agent=HTC_Touch_HD_T8282 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)
4) Save the file and copy it back to your phone, overwriting the original
5) Start Opera and go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer/
Important notes:
- The iPlayer will only work in the UK
- The BBC does not allow you to connect via GPRS, 3G or HSDPA so you will need to use WiFi (if anyone knows how to spoof/bypass this check then please let me know!)
- If you get a 'Failed to connect to network' error or it seems to get stuck on 0% buffering, try this:
1) Press the power button to go into standby (this will disconnect your WiFi)
2) Wait two seconds and press the power button again
3) Quickly press the 'Play' icon whilst your WiFi is reconnecting
- Unfortunately, they are using 3gp compression which is rather poor. This is automatically streamed using the HTC Streaming Media app, I have not tried using anything. Catch Up is watchable but live streams are pretty poor.
Enjoy!
less involved process:
blog.artesea.co.uk/2008/11/bbc-iplayer-streaming-on-the-x1-or-even-the-diamond-or-touch-pro.html
you may find rolling back media streamers may help if it doesn't work for you.

Doesn't work for me, receive error that "Remote server or file not found"
Back to Skyfire lol
Either method appears to work with a slightly older version of media streamer but the video is choppy as if it has to keep catching up even though the stream is fully buffered.
Actually if you change the User agent to:
Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/1A543a Safari/419.3
The page works quite well, except for it states that "programmes can only be accessed over wifi connection". Was using Wifi connection lol

Maybe you had an active 3G/HSDPA connection, you could try to terminate the data connection on Comm Manager first and give it another go.
As ericsson68 mentioned, there are problems with certain versions of the HTC Streaming Media app, I always need to power off then on again and press play for it to work (but at least it does!). If I find a good version of I will post the cab or link here shortly.
still not working :-(
hi guys,
tried all of that and excellent so far!
but....when i click on play it starts buffering and playing but there is no picture or sound? any ideas? it opens up in the streaming media application. is this right?
i have duttys 3.4 rom installed if this helps or hinders iplayer.
It doesn't work on either 3.3 or 3.4 of Dutty I found. Roll back your streaming mediaplayer with the one in Dutty's file store and it seems to but the video is choppy and so the sound keeps speeding up or skipping to compensate.
The BBC need to get off this fashionable Beta train and release stuff only when it's ready and not in bit parts across systems. We all pay our licence fee!
Beta on here yes but endless beta from a multi-million pound corporation funded by public money? I think not.
I got out the wrong side of bed maybe.
anyone know how it shows if you are using wifi?
if it's something on the phone possibly it can be fixed so we can run this on hsdpa
My only guess would be IP address ......

Using uk vodafone TouchPro with Omnia user agent I get choppy performance. Changing wifi settings doesn't make a difference. live TV works better but is poor quality.
Rather a pity really. I guess that the Stream and the media player dont get on. Anyone had any luck with the Touch HD version of the player?

I can access the BBC iPlayer page. I also noticed when I got the error from BBC, it said that only the N96, iPhone and iPod touch were allowed to access the mobile version of iPlayer.
Useing the iPhone user gent gave me other advantages anyway, such as when I go to Facebook, it now takes me to the iphone face book. Same with youtube ect.
So maybe useing the iPhone user agent would be a better idea.
Didn't you find using the iphone User agent made your browser a little slow though? As it did for me, so I changed it back, am looking for User agent for N96 as N96 can use iplayer as well.
No, works perfectly fine, no problems at all. I am using Opera. N96 User Agent is:
Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaN96/10.0.018; Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413

Thanks, giving it a try now.
The N96 User agent require you to download a widget app, so I presume that's a no go for the diamond.
Weird, on my diamond it says this.
"Sorry, this phone does not support iplayer"
"Is only avail. on Nokia N96, iPhone and iPod Touch"
You must not have inputted/saved the entry correctly.
also make sure you close and re open the browser, try clearing the cache
Hi noob here, lol.
I didnt see any onfo on Pandora for Android so I e-mailed them and heres the response I got.
Hi (insert my name here),
Each version of Pandora software for a portable device needs to be separately developed and approved by the cell carrier. PDA devices like the G1 require extensive testing before they can be certified. Unfortunately that slows the development cycle. I don't know how long it will be for the G1. It's a particularly complicated device.
You can see the up-to-date list of supported Phones at http://www.pandora.com/on-the-go
Thanks for writing. We love feedback and we read absolutely everything!

Looks like they have an app in development for the G1. No info on release time frame, but at least its not the usual no comment you expect to get. Good news as I plan on gettin a G1 in a couple of months and love my Pandora.
Well I'm perfectly happy with Imeem. Works just as well for me imo.
havent tried imeem yet, but since I already have a pretty good station set up on pandora its nice to know that they are aparantly working on something for Android.
Pandora on my Hermes was quite nie - I had just started using it.
I can't wat for an Android version. Last.fm is tollerable (almost), and I haven't tried iMeem, b/c I just want Pandora!

That's interesting, because i thought one of the bright spots of the Android platform was that it was UN-complicated to create an app for it. Maybe they're doing it wrong!
Yeah I am using Streamfurious and it does what I need it to. Never had a chance to try Pandora, it will be nice to try on the G1
I would love pandora but Imeem gets the job done and does it well.
Have used SF, last.fm, drizzler and practically every other app for the andriod and it seems to me imeem is the closest thing to pandora.
I'm really holding out for Pandora. I use it on my home PC all the time and I can't wait to have it on my G1.
It may be some what difficult to create a pandora app. The songs are just aac files downloaded over http get requests. However the control channel is encrypted (the control channel being signing in, pandora server saying what song to pay, and feedback, etc). However like any DRM scheme pandora has to give you (the user) a way to decrypt and encrypt the control channel so you can actually use it. This means that the key used to encrypt/decrypt is located in the flash player which gets downloaded to your computer. I have used used flash decompilers and it is there (although obfuscated). The encryption is labeled "blowfish" in the code, however the decompilation was problematic and produced errors in the code. I have used Flasm to look at the flash assembly but have not got very far. It should be not extremely hard to reverse engineer this thing so we can create other players, say on android. However I have not had the time recently. Anyway thought I would share encase others wanted to know information.
I got the JAD for blackberry and the JAR for sprint phones hosted at http://moosefist.byethost2.com/ I tried running them through the J2ME converter available in the market but I get this error
Code:
Error in startnull
"CustomErrorjava.io.IOException: CustomError
at com.netmite,util.AndroidUtils.
downloadURL(Unknown Source)
at com.netmite.ade.MIDletInfo.
downloadApkFile(Unknown Source)
"
Are there any JAVA guru's willing to give this a shot? maybe this deserves a separate more dedicated post in the Development forum...
Really Immem? If you really think it holds even a thought of a candle to Pandora.. then my guess would be that you just hate music or you like the top 100 chart, which by the way Imeem does very well, But trying listing to Nick Cave, or Infected Mushroom, or Iggy Pop, or Choking Victim, or Leonard Cohen.. they have no clue how to make a radio station tailored to the artist, or even artist in the same genre. They have an app for the CrackBerrys on T-Mobile, so my guess is that its not T-Mobile being.. well T-Mobile this time. (what a novel concept)
For the time being we will have to make due with imeem or lastfm

Imeem's variety sucks. Last.fm is nice but is too slow to load over EDGE.

I just got this email from the developer of the J2ME converter
Code:
Hi, Raul,
Thanks for this information, we had took a look at the file in that web site.
There are two problems with it,
1, the jad does not have MIDlet-JAR-URL point to a valid jar file
2, the jar file refers to some custom sprint API.
We can circumverting this issue and will give u a working version in the coming release.
Thanks,
Dana
Hopefully if they get this ironed out we can have a working port of pandora from one of these files. I still invite any JAVA pro's to be them to the punch. The files are at http://moosefist.byethost2.com/ if someone wants to try.

well if t-mo would get a ove on and listen to their customers most of us would have 3G by now. they have been telling me for three years that i would have it in 3G by the end of the year, but this isn't the place for my whining.
i personally like imeem and most of the bands that it puts in the same station as my favs, problem is though that it repeats the same songs over and over. pandora is nice but i never got used to it. it puts all kinds of weird stuff with my favs AFI and Atreyu
yeah, its not t-mobile I am on EDGE, its AT&T's for not adopting the Android platform yet....
