When I get a new message and press the action button to open it email/messaging closes. Then I press the email button again and my message is open.
How do I fix this or what have I done to mess it up.
OK
Any ideas
WHenever I O open "messaging" and click on a received email "messaging" closes
I reopen "messaging" and presto my email is open.
What gives.
There have been a number of posts on this, with no solution. AFAIK, it's a bug in windows mobile. Mine does it too, it definitely gets irritating but after I go thru the process you mentioned once (after a soft or hard reset), it seems to open them correctly thereafter.
have either of you tweaked the location of the email attachments Some of these tweak programs allow you store email attachmetns on SD card. Have you done this?

Yes I do store on card, but I sue the default method, no extra tweaking.
I will undo and post results
That may have done it
May also qure why some pictures do not show in HTML in messages
so far I agree with snooginsguy.
After once it works till a soft reset.

I just rebooted, and now my text messages are gone! There's no "text messages" tab under messaging, and if I select a number and hit "send text message" nothing happens. Now there's an "IPM.root" folder in outlook express instead. Everything else seems fine. Any ideas?
What other software do you have installed out of curiousity?
I had a similar issue except that i didn't lose my text messaging, i lost ALL messaging. As in, I hit the button, clicked the icon, nothing happened. I ended up installing Pocket Informant as my default PIM and for messaging I installed Flexmail 2007. They are not free, but I like them a lot. One of the things I like about Flexmail is the pop/imap only works if the program is running. So if I'm sitting at my computer at work I can close Flexmail and not get redundant emails. Text messaging works as normal.
I never figured out why my messaging disappeared and found no explaination from anyone here. I've tried different ROM's, different software.

Do you have the option "store mail attachments on memory card" ticked?
If so, that's the problem.
It happened to me few times while using two memory cards, all you have to do is delete the folder with mail attachments on the card, uncheck the box, soft reset and check the box again( if you want), problem solved.
I did a hard reset last week and decided to give the standard messaging a shot. So far so good, and now that you mention it, I don't have the "Store attachments on memory card" option checked. It's been almost a week and I haven't lost my messaging.
Thanks for the heads up. Now it just pisses me off that I spend $45 on flexmail and pocketinformant when i really didn't need to.
So if it will happen again try to take out the memory card, soft reset, and put it back AFTER IT STARTED - that also worked
I really don't see a need for third party messaging application, the original is good enough.
The only thing that annoys me is unablity to copy-paste text between Messaging and any other programs, for example writing an email in Pocket Word then copying it and pasting to blank email to send it as a text, not word doc.
Does not work for hermes 200

I tried what you recommended but I still do not have text messaging as an option under my message selections. I only have outlook email, MMS, IMAP4 and yahoo. Somehow I have managed to loose the text message selection folder. Do you know of anything else that I can do? Thanks
Well I tried PocketCM, and then uninstalled it. Now when I press the mail button or try to send a test message from a contact, nothing happens!
Does anyone know how to restore the native text messaging?

i would do a hard reset..it will clean it..i had trouble with palm threaded app on mine and i just hard reseted it..because even if i fix it some other way, everytime i send a text i will feel like what if that text is not delivered..i like the certain solution..hard reset will bring everything to factory installed version
Wow I really don't want to hard reset and loose all the software I've installed.
If no one can provide a way to reset just the text messaging I guess I will have to.
I figured other software has messed up text messaging before so there must be some registry entries or some way to fix this without re-installing the whole device.

Try to contact the developer.
Or ask for help in their forum:
http://www.pocketcm.com/
All better now. I was able to launch the Text Messaging app from a text notification dialog box and it re-asserted itself. Mail button works now. Strange.

Since Build 23017...When I start my blackstone...in background pops up a window which appears as "Message" in the taskmanager. I can't see what it is, because wm home or manila is in front of it. But before I can use the phone I always have to press the "X" button. This happens with every phone start...what can I do to solve this issue? Any Ideas? Is there a registry entry to avoid this window?
after a reboot, i wait it out for a minute or so.
Change this setting in BootLoader Pkg
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher\Apps\TMail]
"Module"="\\Windows\\tmail.exe"
"CmdLine"="-RunInBKG"
I think it is required for periodic mail check and push mail to work.

It is still there it just runs in background. Your right if you remove the entry you might have problems.
I think it's caused by windows live set to push mail. No real biggie for me as it only pops up now and again and doesn't cause any problems.
I checked the reg entries and for me it works fine!!! Thanks!!!

My ttn2 with WM 6.1 suddenly not opening the windows messaging/email program. I received a new text message and clicking on the messaging on the home screen does nothing, as does the email button andthe start menu messaging link. I now have no access to email or texting on the Q. I've rebooted as well as taking out the battery, with no effect.
In researching the issue, other people have had this problem when storing email attachments on their microSD cards, but to change the attachment memory to main memory the email program is not getting opened...
The tmail.exe process does not appear to be running at all, and nothing happens when executing tmail.exe itself. My guess is that it is simply crashing silently on starting.
I'd rather not have to wipe it and start over. Any suggestions?
and ya I don't want to hard reset it to solve it.. so any .cab file of messaging program or any help...plz

I just upgraded by AT&T Galaxy S5 to G900AUCU2ANG3 earlier today and I noticed a new bug in the email client.
When you put a checkmark next to an email and then click the trash can icon to delete it, or choose to delete an email while reading it, you can't open another email from the email list until the "1 deleted." notification on the bottom of the screen goes away. You can press on another email as much as you want, but the app will only actually open the email once the notification has disappeared.
This is a new bug, it wasn't always like this. Unfortunately, it slows down my flow as I keep having to wait for that notification disappears to continue reading emails.
Does anyone know how we can inform Samsung of this bug?
Oddly enough, this may be intentional rather than a bug. Prior to this update, the only way for me to reliably delete an email was to swipe to the left on the message in the message list. Now that I have updated, all the different ways to delete a message work. It seems that the phone is communicating with your email server to delete the message(s) and nothing else can be done until that is complete. This is just my theory.

Hmm, interesting theory.
However, the phone should be capable of doing two things at once: allowing me to read another email while it's busy deleting another one.
