Are you able to run the latest Opera Mini in your Tilt? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi,
I installed the latest Opera Mini, which I downloaded from their site.
Installation took a lot longer than on my hp ipaq hw6910 (WM5).
Further, when I tried running the app, it got stuck and did not proceed (the screen was white and showed a blue picture of something, can't remember what is was).
This version worked perfectly on my HW6910.
Does anyone know whether it's compatible with the Tilt?
Thank you.

Works fine on my HTC Kaiser (Original ROM).

Have you noticed the strange behavior that I described?
I have the original Tilt ROM, without the customizations.
Which version of Java do you have?
Thank you.

it worked fine on mine

I had the same problem on my Tilt. I just installed new JBED Java VM found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1781267&postcount=4

Thank you
I'll try that.

Also make sure you follow my articles; I've published a LOT of info on both Opera Mini and MIDlet managers like Jbed.

General forum here or the Wiki. I recommend the former because of the slightly better layout.

I don't know, but personal preferences on particular browsers are not quite relevant in this topic.

You are using the timebombed crack of Jbed JVM (Midlet manager).
Get the new version of Jbed here:

Unfortunately does NOT work. Still the same problem. Big shame.
Solved!
Java problem is solved! Installed Esmertec Java Manager by jasjamming (attached), restart device, then uninstall/reinstall Gmail and Opera. Both working properly now.

Hi eva_d
I see that you have gone from Hermes to the Kaiser, only got 10 days for Voda launch,
Just interested in the speed of the thing in comparison to say {available now} Supa dupa Lite 3.60 rom. {76.52 Storage & 32.64 Free Ram}
And is touch flo any good, not seen any one show case on youtube,
Where can I download this Gmail java client?

I have official Dopod's WM6 ROM on my Hermes and I must say Kaiser is noticeably faster and more responsive than Hermes, however not always. There are still some glitches and lags, like switching portrait/landscape - is still quite slow. But in general - Kaiser is somewhat faster than Hermes.

TouchFLO is limited to finger scrolling only, there is no 3D cube. Personally I found such solution very good. Finger scrolling is actually very practical and helpful feature, while 3D cube is just for showing off, really. At least I couldn't find it too much useful, while I've played around it once.
Gogol: go to http://googlemail.com/app directly from your device.

A cracked software that you thought would work forever, only to find out it would stop working at a later specified date.. hence the timebomb.
The Jbed JVM you used timebombed @ Sept 1, 2007.
re Hermes vs Kaiser.. It's only natural not to see too much speed improvements. They both have the same processor speed, but in terms of handling multiple apps simultaneously, that's where the 128Mb RAM of Kaiser shines.
You can try running benchmarks using SKTools if you want to see actual figures.
This nice, but ... it does not work pretty well on landscape mode!!!
Try to compose an email, then try to add a new email address for the recipient.
The "menu" softkey does not display the popup
Damn!
PS: Landscape is better because we can use the built-in keyboard. Any hack for this?
Maybe someone could help me.
I installed the pdaviet rom with esmertec java virtual machine.
Now I cant install gmail midlet. The instalation starts normal but when aks for the folder I cant go trough, it says that there isnt enough room.
I'm trying to install it in the flash memory of my p3600.
Thanks for any help

I thought Java is pre-installed on the kaiser. On my HTC Kaiser build version is Esmertec Jbed Build id 20070726.1.1. What you posted is Joedek build 20070425.1.1 which could not open opera mini. Could you please tell the difference, if they are supposed to be different applications
what java program can be used for 3d java games, if its even possible?

Could you check out the Jbed version? is it Jbed build 20070726.1.1? On my blog ( http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/in...ew_java_based_browser_2&tb=1&pb=1&disp=single - see the last few comments), several Kaiser users have stated it is just plain incompatible with Opera Mini 4 beta 2 (it is beta2 that you're using)?
I have the Dutch version of the Kaiser/Tytn II and it came with the Jbed Java preinstalled and runs Opera mini beta 2.
I have tried to look up the version number but cannot find the "about" box.

Yes, just follow the instructions
wow this version is a major improvement. much faster. i recomend it the most out of the wing roms i've tried, it's the best optimized. no bugs found yet. the only thing i don't like is that touchflo is mapped to one of the soft keys... but i can change that :]
Hey
i'm really new at smartphones and i decided to get me a T-Mobile Wing and i'll actually go buy it tomorrow, as i've done some research on this site i'm plannin on installight TouchFLO on it but i'm not exactly sure as to how it works and as my 1st phone i dont wonna messi it up from the 1st time. Does installing this package act like installing a different OS on a computer or just a deeper way to install programs ? I have a pretty good computer knowledge but i'm VERY new when it comes to Smartphones. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forums. Hopefully you'll see that Windows Mobile phones are useful and fun, especially when you flash and reflash. It gets kind of addicting. The TouchFlo is software that allows you to use your fingers to control the movement on you screen much like the multi-touch does for the iPhone. When you flash new software to your phone, you are changing the operating system of the phone (in your case the Wing), but it's nothing major (say like upgrading XP to Vista) because the WIng has Windows Mobile 6 on it already. All you're doing is adding functionality to it.
Please be careful when flashing though. Read and Follow all the instructions carefully before you attempt anything. Also if you have questions I would advise you to search the forums before asking. Most of the time you won't be the first or only person to come across a problem, and the answer will most likely have been provided.
Good luck!
the proxy setting works?
Hi, I am pretty new to this PPC phone area and I managed to install the touchflo on my wing correctly yesterday. Very nice OS but there is only one thing I can not use the proxy I was using before to use T-mobile web to connect to the internet. Does someone know how to correct this issue? thanks...

Hi,
I also, notice that this rom as with other PDAVIET roms runs better with an 8MB page file. The touchflo opens and moves smoother when you swip the screen.
This is just my two cents.

Have you read my OM-related articles? In there, I've explained how you can switch OM to full screen mode: bring up the SIP and press Ctl + *.
(You MIGHT also be ablke to do the same on the thumbboard - dunno, haven't tested it. It works on the Universal.)
ive got the esmertec jbed version and opera mini just loads fullscreen by default didnt have to do anything to make it do it
Hi
How can I bring up the SIP being opera showed?
I've got a similar problem. I have an htc kaiser. I'm enjoying opera mini very much. I've read the bible mentioned earlier, but I'm not sure how to bring up the SIP (presumably this is the soft keyboard) from opera mini4. I'm not at all experienced i'm afraid, being something of a newbie, so any very simple guidance would be really helpful. I was very proud that I managed to follow the instructions on making a shortcut and getting rid of the security questions though!
Thanks in advance

WOW! Works like a breeze!!!

Opera won't work on WM6.5,21231,help!

Anything is Ok , except that after opera's installation , it can't work , when opera starts, the screen turns black, but when you touch the screen, it responses, and may show the menu.
How to solve this problem?
Thx!!!
I've found Opera doesn't work on many of the 6.5 ROMs. However, PDACorner Ultimate X2 Beta II (link in my sig) has opera built in, and works wonderfully with it. Hope that helps you,
Dave
I'm on Josh' ROM 21231 also Opera works well. I suggest you ask each chef if they know there's problem and if they will fix it, on each ROM's thread ..
Ask the question in the ROM thread! Have the necessary information in your signature like mine, so that people dont have to ask you all the basic questions again! Read the forum rules at least once! Peace

Any way to get that version of Opera back? I have PDACorner Ultimate X2 Beta II installed, but like a fool uninstalled that version and put the new 9.7 beta on. However, this will not run and the app just randomly quits before any page loads
Try uninstalling 9.7, then installing this. Hope that helps,
Dave
(BTW: 9.7 works wonderfully on the newer Ultimate X2 V.x Roms, as long as it's installed to a storage card)
