Dev Friends,
Just recently I signed up with the Answer Tones through AT&T which I think is very cool then the lame ole ring-ring you hear all the time!
So I decided to change my personalized voice message. I used text to speech with music in the background. Mixed it down to a .wav file and would to use this as my personalized message.
Anyone know how this can be through AT&T? Only way I know how is to hold the mic up to the spearker and play the .wav file.. Kinda of lame and qty is bad....
Ideas anyone?

try useing youmail.com thats what i use...
would it be possible to create a audio recording computer based using soundforge, acid pro to .wmv or .mp3 and upload it to this service?
i am not interested recording a voicemail thru the phone receiver.
pls advise.
tvos
There is no way to upload your own stuff/files to ATT. The only way is to add it via the phones mouthpiece.
thanx for the info. i looked on the site and appeared that way, but
thought i would ask.

www.youmail.com is the ****. I love the smart calling feature. Example.
Say somebody calls you on your phone. This is what they will heard.
"Hello (person calling names) (Your Name) can't come to the phone right now. Please leave a message.

What I like about YouMail is that you can set custom VM messages for specific callers. I also have it set so people calling with a caller ID block get a message stating that I do not accept blocked calls. The voicemail can also be delivered to your email inbox, and in the case of work if someone leaves you a message on a project that someone else is handling you can just forward the email (and the message) to the right person. The only thing that bothers me is that I haven't figured out how to make the VM indicator work with YouMail (This may not even be possible, but I still try)

Hi,
this is not strictly Kaiser specific I guess.
I recall sometime ago seeing a feature which looked useful. When somebody calls you and lets say you are busy, meeting or driving etc.
You get a prompt to refuse the call and at the same time send a pre-defined text message back to them straight away.
So they get put through to your voicemail and also recieve a text from you to say "Sorry I'm in a meeting, will get back to you ASAP" . Is this a WM 2005+ feature?
Also another one
Is it possible to only send your caller id to people that are in your contacts list when making calls? Anybody else does not see your number?
Thought I saw that one on my old XDA iis?
Thanks
Mike
the text msg one seems useful. what if they are calling from a landline and not mobile like with most businesses? will the sms bounce back to you and says unable to send or something? just curious.

Well I seem to recall it was up to you what you did with the call, ie based on the number ringing . In the uk at least its possible to spot a mobile number easily.
I seem to think a small menu came up with several choices.
i don't know if this app will help. I've never used it but ran across it a few weeks ago.

I bet something like this could be down with MortScript... I'll research it, i've been wanting to get into MortScript, this would be a perfect test.

There are several apps (commercial ones) that do this. PhotoContacts Pro does it. And I think a couple of other phone utils do also (SPB or VITO may make one, don't remember).

Yes that looks very much like it.
I was sure it was part of WM already. Must have got it wrong.
Thanks, I'll check it out when I get my WM device soon!

Call Firewall
I'm using call firewall, it's a great app imo....
Photo Contact Pro has a reject/auto SMS feature. As for caller ID, My Kaiser has the following function. Go to phone, Menu tab, Options, Services, highlite Caller ID & press get settings. It then allows me the option to:
1. Send ID to everyone
2. Send ID to contacts only
3. Do not send ID
Maybe this is AT&T specific, but thought I'd throw it out there.

Only thing with ''call firewall'' is that when you are on a call if a call comes in it disconnect both the call your on and the one coming in... my experience.
There is also Magicall that does this:
http://www.mobiion.com/magicall.html
I am VERY sorry if this has already been asked/answered. I did a search here, on Google and several other places and seem to keep getting similar topics but not the exact topic I need.
How do I set my tilt to play a different ringtone that the CALLER HEARS, not me.
For example, if John calls me, HE HEARS Ringtone A and if Mary calls me, SHE HEARS Ringtone B.
So, if I have someone from my business call me, they hear a conservative professional type ringing but if a friend of mine calls me, they hear something more progressive.
It doesn't matter to me what I HEAR... This is what I keep getting responses to in my searches.
Thanks,
M!

Ok.. you have to call your provider and ask for Caller Tones. You have to pay for that through your provider. I think it's pointless. Whenever I call someone and hear that I just hang up because I don't know whether it's a caller tone or some idiot who recorded his voicemail to a 2 minute Usher track. Traditional Ring is better I'd say.
I have an annoying collection agency calling me for something that is not mine and no matter how many times I tell them, they keep calling with an automated caller. I wanted to set the incoming call to play the "Disconnected phone #" tones that will make their system automatically remove me (kind of like a Tele-Zapper).
My provider is ATT...
Thanks!

I have no insight into the internals of PSTN networks and automated callers (thank god we don't have this nuisance in Europe), but isn't this kind information transfered "out of band" (i.e. outside the sound)? I don't think that machines do a sound frequency recoginition in order to detect the call state - hell, we're in the digital age!

you press some number to remove you on their list when they prompt you
diskwzrd, if you have t-mobile they have a service for this.
You could set your voicemail to a service like youmail.com. They allow you to set your greeting per caller or group of callers including unknown/blocked numbers.

The SS7 network does pass certain calling information out-of-band however it triggers the calling switch to play the proper intercept message. In some instances where the calling & dialed switches cannot establish an SS7 connection then the intercept message is played by the dialed switch, etc, etc. So the actual message is played in-band... the caller does need to hear the message after all. And some auto-dialers do implement some sort of removal procedure if a dialed number results in an intercept message. So it would work in theory, similar to the Telezapper devices... however it would not be 100% effective because not every business cares enough to follow thru on issues such as that.
Answer tones
I tried the answer tones on mine. Verfied I could and after playing all day I looked up on answer tones and the 8525 is supported and not the 8925. So I lost out of my answer tones.
I use Youmail. Like it much better.
I highly recommend using www.youmail.com
I can import my contact list to the website. I can personalize responses to each person in my contact list. I can use the existing service that says, " Hello, (caller name). ______ (my name) is not available right now, please leave a message."
I can select pre recorded messages ( or purchase them). My son gets a theme song to Indiana Jones. They also have holiday specific messages.
Plus I can read or listen to my voicemail via the computer via a web application.
Great service!

My wife and I both use Answer Tones on our Tilts. (8925s)
Hello all.. I was just wondering if anyone knows where the voicemail wav file is located on the tilt. I wanted to replace it with a prerecorded wav file. I'm guessing the voicemail would be a wav file or am I wrong? I'm not sure if I can even access it but I don't see why not. Thanks for any suggestions.
what exactly are you trying to do? if you are talking about the message others hear it is not on the phone itself. your phone has a separate voice mail number to dial then you set up voice mail on carriers server.
i have a previous voicemail message saved that I wanted to use to replace the default ones that At&t has. So instead of people hearing This is ###-#### leave a message... Can I replace that with a wav file that I recorded already... I didn't want to re record it since It takes me forever to get the "perfect" message I like =\

yeah I forgot about that... so basically theres no way to replace the message since they have it on there server.
when you set up vm listen really close to all of the options. it will ask if you would like to use the prerecorded one or record you own. record your own
try this

Very nice, I've been looking for an app like this for a while now. Just input a # you don't want to receive calls from and it will be blocked. Requires root, though.
Sure, you can use the built in "Send to Voice Mail" feature in Contacts, but that's not a good solution because 1) It clogs up my voice mail inbox and 2) I get an almost as annoying text notification every time someone that I have chosen to send to VM tries to call me.
The app is still pretty new, so it's lacking a few features I would like (such as regexp patterns), and I'm not sure it'll block text messages as well (which would be nice), but it's definitely a very good start.

I just downloaded it gonna start putting number in it. Do you know if you can use it to block unknown numbers?
I haven't actually tried blocking my home phone in it to try it out for myself, but supposedly what this app does is to send the caller directly to voice mail, just like the feature that's already available to us in the default contacts app. That's not quite what I'm looking for, as that means I will still get those annoying notifications and the voice mail inbox will (might) get clogged up.
Perhaps what I'm looking for is just not possible, but simply put I want an app that interceps an incoming call/text, cross-refs it against a black list, and if it's a match - mimics a red phone button press (decline)/refuse the text message - all within a few milliseconds. It would also be nice if it stopped the number from getting logged in the call log.

I'm pretty sure that what this application does is to receive the phone call (it may do half a ring) and immediately answer it and hang up. This should avoid the problem of sending it to voicemail.
i have been talking to the dev since release, the callers do NOT go to voicemail so it won't clog your voicemail manny.
also it cannot be used to block Unknown numbers so fo that you would need to write your app(i am trying but it is very hard to do when you don't know exactly what you are doing). but the dev claims that if you put in 1800 in the block box then it will block ALL 1800 numbers that call you. seems pretty good but i haven't been able to test it yet(crazy ex might have finally gotten the hint)
EDIT!! as soon as i posted this i got an update on it and now you are able to choose between unknown numbers or blacklisted numbers, i suggested checkboxes to select both, as well as text message block, but i am not sure how possible that would be

Good to hear your making a new app. This one bugged me as it wouldnt block 1-800 type numbers..
Yes!

aFirewall allows you to configure multi-scenes to block different call or SMS at different time by now. Its features are as below:
1. You can add black number from call log, SMS log, contacts or add it mannually;
2. You can setup aFirewall password to protect your private black list;
3. Unread blocked call log and SMS log notification;
4. Option to disable and enable aFirewall blocking notification;
You can download from market now because it is free. I am looking forward to your comments. Thank you very much.

Looks like a good free app but sends the call to voice mail. Would be better if for an incoming call the phole answers then hands up. This has a two fold benifit, first the spammer is charged for phoning me and second no voice mail.
if there is an incoming call, does the app block the call instantly or will the phone rings then block?
will there be a notification of the blocked calls? coz personally i dun want to see who's call i blocked......

Yeah, I noticed that with other firewall apps too. They all send to voicemail. That's part of the standard OS if you just click "send all calls from voicemail" under the contact for that number.
I want something that blocks them, or better yet - set up a forwarding number for their individual phone#. I'd love to forward the telemarketers right back to themselves. ha.

aFirewall just endCall when the call need to be blocked. Woud you like to let me know the call will be send to voicemail automaticlly when the call was rejected in your operator? That is to say, this is a default configuration of your phone as my Nortel IP landline phone does.
I can add a feature to aFirewall to forward a call to another number when a call was rejected.
Thanks.

If a blocked call was incoming, aFirewall end it instantly and no rings. And no notification was sent to you in default configuration. But your can enable it if you want this. Thanks.
How did you go about hanging up the call on incoming. I have looked into this and from what I can see this is not in the current version of the SDK.
If you could post some code that would be awesome!
Thanks
