I am trying to get the Orb to stream the TV from my VirginMedia/WinTV PVR-150 without much success. I can stream everything else, video, music etc but not the TV.
Anybody got this working?
It is working fine for me over wifi and hsdpa.
I am viewing the streams in windows media player at a fixed (non speed test) speed.
Occasionally I get sound with a distorted image on a couple of the BBC channels but otherwise it works well.
My next project is to be able to orb a sopcast stream to allow me to view live soccer games.
Are you able to view tv streams on a PC? The forums and wiki at the orb site may be able to pinpoint any issues relating to your specific tv card.

Anyone know of a way to stream audio/video from your home PC from media center to the G1, like the way orb.com does for a windows mobile device.
You can do it now. I haven't had the best luck with video, but I have streamed audio and pics from my computer to my phone. Just go to the orb site from the browser and it all happens there.
Orb has an app for the iPhone. Only a matter of time...
Orb have made some improvements for G1, but I am still having some issues viewing live TV and videos.
When I connect within the same network (Orb streaming PC and G1 are sharing the same public IP) I am able to watch TV and video. When I try to connect from another place I just receive "Sorry this video cannot be played". I have opened port 554 and 13398 to 13401 of my router, but still no success.
For the iPhone, Orb have made a native app because there is no RTSP (real time streaming protocol) for iPhone. G1 is RTSP capable so it shouldn't be necessary to have a special app for G1.
Anyone know of a program where i can stream video from my computer to my phone. Essentially i am asking if anyone knows if i can stream video from my computers web cam to my cell phone when away?! haha thanks!
Orb Cast
try using orb cast, you can stream web cams, video, audio, see pictures and just about anything on you computer from you cell phone. https://mycast.orb.com/
VLC
This program can stream out almost anything to your phone....just use various codec and size settings for bitrate etc. for best performance on your
end of the edge/3g network....I use VLC with the current settings...
Stream Video with these settings:
Video Codec: H264 32k
Audio Codec: MP3 32k
Video Size: .25 buffer 10000
wmv2 codec works the best as far as less buffering etc. but the H264 is beautiful considering the low bitrate of 32k...I'm on the edge network and
live in the sticks....I get about dialup speed most of the time...we are still
hoping to get 3G here soon...any more detailed questions please feel free to post...I know this was not to specific but most here are techy type people and understand without getting down and dirty...but if needed...let me know...
This method is how I am getting my DVB satellite broadcasting to my phone...love it...this make everyone sick when they see my changing channels via a webpage and watching my Sat. from my Kaiser/Tilt...love HTC so far...
Oh yeah...Core Player 1.2.5 is my client on phone for watching...as the TCMP
code I have no luck with but with the Core Player...cha-ching..almost anything goes...good luck...
awesome!! thanks!
247Viewer
There is a new app on the app store that lets you stream your home webcam to your phone. Search 247viewer on google. It works pretty well. I didn't have to forward any ports on my router.
I'm just wondering if there is a way I can stream media (music mainly) to my phone over WiFi, similar to iTunes sharing, or Windows Media Extender kind of setup, so while I'm in the garden I can have a little music.
While I adore Spotify, I don't really rely on it enough to pay £120 a year for the service. And my own collection is nearing 80GB, so no hope of fitting it on an mSD card.
If anyone knows anything about a program which does that, well that would be swell if you could let me know.
I've found a sevice called Android Storage http://www.androidstorage.com, that allows you to upload files, then stream them to your Hero. Their apps can be found on the market.
It's not available yet, but a team of developers is working on creating an app that will add DLNA media streaming support to the Android platform. http://htcsource.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=689&Itemid=56
once released, the software should allow you to stream files to and from your Android phone to other DLNA capable devices (PS3, TV's Computers, digital picture frames).
Just the ticket. I'll be watching that closely, being able to stream stuff to my PS3 is it's best feature.
If you're talking about streaming media from your computer/laptop over Wi-Fi to your phone, then give AndroMote Remote Control a try.
I have the Pro License and it works great for me. (I do the same with my PS3, stream videos and music over the network)
For the past few weeks I've been looking into different media servers to stream video to my android devices without re-encoding each video for mobile use. I tried TVersity, but I wasn't able to get the streaming to work. Lately I've been using Subsonic to stream everything and it's been great. It streams any type of video through a flash player on the fly. It's also very easy to install and even works outside of your home network. The amazing thing is how fluid this flash player works on the G-Tab. Coming from a rooted Pandigital Novel, this device's video and flash playback capabilities keep amazing me. If you are looking for a media server application to stream video, I'd highly recommend subsonic. What other media servers does everyone use?
I use Twonky Server on my Netgear ReadyNAS Duo and Twonky Mobile on my Gtab. Works great.
Hey fellow xoom users, i found this app that finally solves the problem of media streaming from windows to android devices. All u have to do is download the app https://market.android.com/details?id=com.skifta.android.app&feature=search_result
and create an account and download the desktop client, and fiddle with your windows media player settings and it works beautifully for streaming movies, pictures, and music. It works on local wifi and over public networks when u sign up. It works with any DLNA device too, and an xbox 360 and ps3 for streaming. It is the only app that works for this. If u have an alternate media player for unsupported formats like avi it even plays those files through that app while streaming. and from my use, it streams very well over any half decent wifi, but still requires wifi. i tried it on my EVO 4g and even oven 4g it would not stream, so thats the only downside. ENJOY!!!

Looks awesome, I was just looking for something like this. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks
down side is that unless you tagged your movies for streaming during conversion you can only download from your NAS. Can't beat cifs manager for no holds barred streaming
